I've been loving my new S9, but I've been having a serious problem as I often use my phone to, well, make calls (including through apps like discord, Skype, and Facebook messenger).
When in a call (on any calling app), the sound quality of any media gets INCREDIBLY low (bitrate, volume, sound floor, staticky, I think it's mono, it is really bad). It makes it hard to do anything (videos are tough, music is just impossible to listen to) while in a discord voice channel for example. This happens both over speaker and with headphones. Is this common? Is there a fix?
Solution
Have you found a fix for this?
Why would you be trying to play music while in a call?

I've experienced BT anomalies on many Android phones in the past, but nothing as bad as this.
T-Mobile S4- Streaming Bassdrive.com via XiiaLive Premium/Bluetooth to my 2012 Hyundai SantaFe. Flawless. Good audio quality. Then I get a phone call which I answer (either with the in steering wheel button or on screen button) and I can hear the caller, but they are drowned out by distorted streaming audio. Also the caller can hear this distorted audio. This seemingly continues indefinitely.
I then usually tap the Bluetooth button or the speaker button to switch off. Call ends, and audio resumes perfectly.
Any thoughts on this? Tweak to remedy it? Thanks everyone for the support.

This happened to me once when i received an incoming call while listening to music. the music stopped (seemed that way) but the caller said they could actually hear the music still playing. i haven't been able to replicate it though.
It seems to me on the new android devices that the streaming audio in the background isn't actually "stopped" for some events, and instead is only turned down for others. For instance, using the Google Navigation, instead of stopping Pandoras music like my old phone did, it will now simply turn it down some so you can hear the voice guidance, then turn the music back up. I actually like this feature because you can still hear the music in the background.
I am wondering if there is some kind of bug that is causing this to happen for a Bluetooth call event where the music is being turned down instead of off?
Hi all,
I've discovered a problem (not sure it is a bug, faulty hw, or just a setting) in my z1 compact. Seems that everytime a sound terminate (maybe because I stopped the spotify song, the sms song ends, etc) a strange, weird, sound continues to be produced for a couple of seconds.
I know it is difficult to explain: try to imagine when you register something with a microphone, then what you're recording finish and the silence is recorded as 'zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz' like a distorsion or interference.
This is the issue. I've noted then during the night in the bedroom and when you've silence is pretty clear and audible. As is present with any sound, from internal sounds to videos and spotify, I think it might be a sw bug or a wrong setting somewhere.
Have you noted something similar or might you check?
thanks

When I was listening to music earlier and watching YouTube, I heard a pop noise come from my speaker a couple times... My volume was only at half, so I don't know what the problem is. Does it sound like a hardware problem, and should I exchange my phone?
Also seems to happen sometimes when I start a song with Google Play Music and turn on the volume from silent
My G3 also makes popping noises and sound quality in general is pretty bad compared to most other phones I've had. I wonder if this is a known problem and if they have an easy fix.
I've noticed that as well. During a call I noticed that the earpiece speaker does not sounds good at all. It sounds like there might be something loose inside of the phone. Anyone else having bad phone call speaker quality?
Same here with the earpiece speaker. It was really frustrating. Strange was the fact that the problem was gone when I removed the back cover Also after HR the problem has been gone for a couple of days.
I had to get my money back for the device.
Every time I record audio with my phone (mostly voicenotes on whatsapp) the sound is really bad, I can hear myself clearly but I get so much background noise, and If I record a song that's playing it sounds real loud and messed up. Nobody has ever comlpained about the sound when they talk to me on the phone but compared to many other phones I've had I find this one to have bad mic quality. Am I the only one who feels this way? if not then has anyone tried some sort of fix for this? (assuming my phone isn't actually broken lol)
Hey everyone,
does anybody else have the issue, that when you record anything in a loud environment (e.g.: festival, loud car music, club),
that the recorded sound becomes super stuttery and even mutes out when it's too loud?
I'm having this issue on WhatsApp.
Can anybody else try turning up music loud and record a voice note on WhatsApp and listen to it if it also mutes out/stutters?
Thanks in advance!
