Over the last few weeks I've noticed that when I manually update my apps after it downloads it hangs at 100% from anywhere to 15 seconds to 60 seconds. I had been wondering why it's taking so long to update apps lately.
Anyone know what's going on and how to fix?
Have you tried closing/opening play store or clearing data/cache? I have not experienced that on stock Oreo or DP2.

I cleared cache but not data.
I just force closed Google Play and wiped data and cache. The first app updated without hanging up. All others hung up at 100%.

Clear data bro. It won't delete your apps. Just clear cache and clear data. The only thing you'll have to do is redo your play store settings. And it will fix your issue

What launcher do you use? Deafult, Nova???
Similar issue reported time and again in multiple devices. The majority concluded it to be due to adding shortcut to home functionality which ideally should not be triggered for existing app update. I would suggest to check with different launchers or disable add shortcut to home and try if the issue still persist.
I dont have such issue faced either on Oreo or P beta. I use total launcher though not the default one.

I use the stock launcher.
Did you happened to have installed microG?
I had that installed once (twice to be exact, just to verify) for modded youtube app... it messes up my play store as a whole... crash and hangs here and there... had to wipe the phone in order to restore it to usable state.
*also try using another wifi hotspot, or restart your router. My workplace network monitors and filters data, it corrupts my download every so often... but when I am home, they update just fine.

I cleared data on the Google Play Store app.
It seems that after a long period of time, the first app doesn't hang but then after the first one, it hangs up.
I just force closed the app and cleared data and cache. The first app I updated hung up at 100%.
This happened on wifi and on carrier data.
It happens on apps less that 5mb and large ones too.
I'm on stock 8.1 with the May update.
I always sideload updates and with Magisk and EX kernel.

Hi guys,
I think I've found a possible workaround for forcing Nexus Update without breaking Google Services Framework. I did this procedure on three Nexus and got the same result, so I think it's safe (or I'm lucky as hell).
Step by step:
Settings->Apps->All->Google Services Framework
Click on Force Stop and Clear Data after.
Go check your System Updates on "Settings->About". If it works and your phone starts downloading the update, reboot your phone immediately. When it's back on, Google Services will ask your permission to get your location and anonymous data, click Agree and open some google app, like Maps. Go back to your System Updates on About menu and proceed as usual.
I think the trick here is to allow Google Service Framework to rebuild its data before the update run itself.
Well, it worked for me and worth a try
Breaking google services framework? I've never heard of that.

One issue is your phone can disappear from the Play Store "devices" list. This happened to me but eventually it will come back, just takes time.
Great!

I got my Honor 8 Pro exactly 1 week ago and just yesterday I started having this issue where I'm not able to download and update apps from the Play Store.
When I click 'install' button it says downloading but nothing really happens. I have tried clearing the cache & data, restarted the phone and all sorts of things, but it doesn't seem to work.
Anyone else having this problem?
__________
EDIT:
Issue fixed : uninstall truecaller, use Honor 8 Pro's stock Launcher and restart phone. No idea why this happens but at least it's fixed.
Maybe your Google Play Services just received an update. That's what happens when it updates.

Tapzo was the culprit app, had to delete it and clear cache etc, started working ok now.
This might help:
Go to settings - Advance settings - Backup and Reset- Network settings reset
Should resume downloads.
In some cases, uninstalling truecaller and/or tapzo might help
What worked for me was uninstalling Play Store, and downloading the latest Google Play Services and Play Store apks from apkmirror.

Temporary solution after lots of logs sent to R&D team.
Go to Settings- battery - lock screen clean up.
Untick all apps (Close all option must be greyed out).
Switch on Airplane Mode for 15 seconds . Turn it off.
Turn on WiFi and downloads should resume automatically .
The issue got resolved after B140 update. No more apps update/download pending issue.
So they were able to fix it.
Have you tried clearing the Cache files in the internal storage and rebooting your device? Sometimes that will solve your issue.
My apps on the play store don't seems to be updating even after I manually press update, it takes more than an hour to start. I have a stable internet connection (wifi) and loads of space. Any advice?
Clean google playstore app cache and data. And try to download apps
Sometimes it's an error from the playstore, just clear data and wait for couple hours and try again

Thank you, uninstalling did the trick. But why does this happen?
Truecaller is the culprit in my case

It was truecaller culprit in my case just uninstall it and restart the phone your playstore should resume to normal function
So truecaller prevents apps from updating. That's not good
Hey guys,
After the latest update, I have been getting Google sync error, and then there's the play store error where I cannot download apps.
Sync and app downloads happen at their own time and have tried from clearing playstore services cache to resetting the phone to factory settings.
Hard reset works but the issue returns. Does anyone else have this issue? Please do comment

1) Simply try restart.
2) Uninstall True caller and restart.
3) Network setting reset. Settings - Advanced settings - Backup & Reset
4) Factory Reset

Deleting true caller worked for me as well. This is strange though.

I suspect Honor's rigorous battery saving mechanism has to do something with it, both True caller and Tapzo are quite invasive apps, they want to display more ads and need more access to info on phone. I hope they attend to this emailed their support.
Yeah I guess thats the reason, downloading apps after getting the update has become an issue though. I hope they fix it soon.

Strange things are happening. Like some apps refuse to update until I uninstall them and reinstall again.
Don't know if this is an issue with Google or Huawei.

I think it's Huawei to blame, but what surprises me is that Huawei is clueless about this, and except for the standard troubleshoot they've got nothing.
Especially since smartphones are more capable than ever I feel like they could at least have some diagnostics to run and ID whats causing such simple issues.
May be if they really listen, they might release a patch soon. So far most of their cs are clueless and are technically incapable.
I guess Google is to be blamed because I encountered this error 497 on my previous device as well. By using VPN, this error goes away.

Just try it then. You'll know if an app doesn't work and it won't kill your phone. You may not be able to stop Google Play and services from updating unless you disable them and don't use them at all. I suspect that most of your apps will continue to work.

Huh, thought I was the only one. This keeps happening to me as well. One way I stopped it for a bit was clearing the cache for the settings app. Although you have to be quick before it crashes and makes it near impossible to do so. Unfortunately I think this has to do with the latest update. Just out curiosity, what model do you have?

You may reboot to safe mode and settings become to work without bugs. But all other programs don't start. After reboot settings work, about 1 minute. Then, I presume some program starts into memory and crashes settings. I can't point to which one, and if it's 3rd party or stock service.
Do you have app named SRTC? Can't remember such app out of the box. maybe it' virus? but it's system and can't be uninstalled

Probably it is a new app that you have installed recently or an update or an app. Try to reset the phone in safe mode, if the problem persist is a system app problem. If you don't want to reset the phone try re-flashing the last kdz and if it doesn't work do a factory reset.
I've had this issue for months. If you have a 3rd party launcher, make a shortcut to the search bar of settings. I use Activities with Nova Launcher
There's an app in the play store that will get you into settings made specifically for this issue.
