HI,
Today I found that since 8.1, usb tethering is not working anymore on my 5T. Is it only me or is it a known bug ?
Are you using the charging cable that comes with the phone?
I. Have this issue also, still looking for solutions
Usb tethering stopped working for me after the 5.1 update

I have this problem for a while. I have a samsung galaxy nexus running on this CM : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2405298 . (I had this problem on several CMs). It doesn't connect to pc, doesn't show ip in device manager,my computer etc.. But it does charge. I tried cleaning up the usb port but no difference.
FYI :
Usb debugging activated
Tried with fast charge on/off
Naked drivers
Different cables/usb ports/computers/laptop
It's not a charge-only cable
So... HELP ?!

You mentioned that this problem has occurred for you on other Roms also? Has it been an ongoing issue, or has there been times where you flashed a new rom, and suddenly the problem stopped and only started again on another Rom? or has it been persistent from rom to rom? It could certainly be the case that your usb port is beginning to go bad...it was a huge problem in the vibrant community once vibrants became about 2 - 3 years old. Since the usb port on our phones receives the most wear and tear, it is a common problem. The early symptoms are usually that the phone will charge just fine, but will not be recognized by the computer for file transfer.

It persisted from rom to rom. So i'll just have to change the charging port with a new one ? There's no known solution for this ?

One, or perhaps the only solution would be to replace the USB port.

Look in System Settings -> Storage -> 3-dots -> usb computerconnection, if MTP is ON
.
Anyone have a solution for the lost OTG connectivity with Kitkat update on theSprint LG G2?
I've already upgraded to Kitkat when I noticed that my USB otg wasn't working anymore. Will it help to Downgrade back to stock Jelly Bean?
If so, can anybody tell me how? I just want my OTG back,
Settings >> Accessory >> USB Is it enabled?

USB storage is enabled. I talked with LG support and they said "unfortunately the update(Kitkat) will remove the OTG feature.
.....the only thing they can do on this case is "to send a complaint about this".....this is not a guarantee of a follow up or call back, however, this may be taken into consideration for future references.
it is so frustrating. Google is killing Android with Kitkat. Any help to bring back OTG will be appreciated.:crying:
That sucks. I was about to upgrade to KK. Can someone else confirm this? @radloongm Nexus Media Importer app might help you to use OTG functions again. Its a paid app though.
OTG is working fine for me. I upgraded to KitKat. I'm typing on my full-sized keyboard right now using OTG cable. I'm able to use the mouse, thumb drive, keyboard -- no problem.

Same here. Finally tested OTG on ZVC. Working perfect.
hello,
I bought this device:
http://www.amazon.com/Inateck-Ethernet-Chromebook-Supported-Aluminum/dp/B012N8KYWU
because it reads nice, I just got it but as i plug it in it only flashes and the tablet only detects is as chargeable device.
I can switch to RNDIS as i wanted to try ethernet, in the developer option but if I do that, the Pixel reboots and reset the option to the prior one.
It even doesn't recognize a USB Stick on that Hub.
Is the hub broken or is there another issue?
Thanks Avalun.
I recently bought this USB Hub / Ethernet adapter and have successfully verified that the USB ports work and the Ethernet port works. I turned off the WiFi while testing the Ethernet port to be 100% sure. I also had USB Debugging enabled when doing all this.

thanks for the reply unfortunately that one is not available in the EU
Did you see this post?

Yes but it doesn't have an ethernetport. Additinally that doesn't deliver to Austria too.
I have had an issue with USB tethering and my Pixel 2 XL.
Whenever I enable the tether on the device it triggers Windows 10 to BSOD. I get KERNAL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE.
I have tried unistalling and reinstalling the device drivers to no avail.
Anyone having luck USB tethering on Windows 10?
Thanks
I've had the same issue as well, this thread has been the only reference I've found to this exact problem. Have you managed to find any solution for it?

Have you tried this method ^?
Though I'm not sure if you can even get there since you crash
I've used pda net forever and have had no problem with my pixel 2 xl..
I have it through the foxfi app in the play store..

In the past always used PDA Net for USB tether, but nowadays I mostly wifi tether.

I just wanted to chime in to say I am also receiving this issue. I plug my Pixel 2 XL in, activate USB tethering, and Windows 10 blue screens. It happens every time.
I cannot perform the steps in the video linked above as, like I mentioned, my computers blue screens when USB tethering is activated.
HI Guys,
Looking for some help.
I have an HTC U11 on Oreo. Recently installed a Kenwood 7704S Android Auto HU.
Installed Android Auto app via google play, as well as latest version direct from Google. Phone is just not detected using the original USB C cable BUT the phone is charging, all other functions work via the Android Auto app without being cable connected. Short of instalkling older AA apk versions I am at a loss. I have tested unit with a iphone and Apple Car Play launches fine so it is not a a HU issue as I assumed. I had used this unit with a P10 Plus and it worked but I had intermittent issue with it as well but with the U11 it has just quit launching all together. I have reset phone to factory and tried fresh, no success. I have enabled Developer mode and enable USB debugging and selected MTP Protocol still no luck.
Anyone experience U11 Android auto issues, super frustrating and dont want to run a custom rom just yet. Suggestions welcome cause I am at wits end beside trying other AA versions from earlier dates or rolling back to Nougat, that I have not yet tried. Phone has worked on Oreo and I got it with Oreo but I was experience intermitent connectivity
