Thanks to deadman96385's work on getting LineageOS 14.1 working for the Gemini, it got me interested in attempting to port 15.1 as well.
I'm new to ROM compilation\porting, but experienced with Android, some programming, scripting etc. Would appreciate some help if anyone is willing & would like to see Oreo on our Gemini's
This would be a great idea any more news on this?
I don't see why you guys want Lineage so bad. I'm usually all for it, but the Gemini ROM is seriously bone stock, just throw Xposed on there and you can do anything else.
I'll second the request for a port of lineage for the Gemini PDA. I would really like to use that PDA without the gapps and with the privacy enhancements available on lineage.
Recently I've been looking into porting Lineage 15.1 to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3, so it brought me back to this thread. I'm planning on trying to do some work on it this weekend, so if anyone wants to help out, that would be great.
Definitely interested in this.

I'd rather rely on the community than a company, basically in any and all instances. I'd also be flashing LineageOS without gapps, for a clean google-free experience.

How's it running for ya?
Literally right after i flash back stock for the nougat beta.... XD
First impressions? Like Gps and fingerprint (no detection when unlocked?) are working correctly?
So... which version should we download? Experimental or Nightly?
Edit: Ok, Experimental builds are made for upgrading from a CM 13/14.1 build to Lineage. You can try it, but there's no guarantee that it will work. So the correct answer to my question is... Install Nightly. (And i will in a few minutes )
Btw, i was surprised our beloved Robin was one of the few first to have support from LineageOS. Thanks LineageOS people! :good::highfive:

Nice video! Definitely cool to see how the ROM runs in realtime. To me, it seems a little rough around the edges compared to stock, so I'll wait for a milestone build or something. Videos like this are super helpful, though, so thank you!
I most say Its not perfect, and it is technically not a first release, however this is definitely a BIG step on the right direction :good:

Just confirmed with my carrier. It is a AT&T network issue affecting everyone. Thanks.
Mod Please close this thread as I think the official thread in development serves the purpose for LineageOS related
Looks like Lineage OS stopped flowing already

Consider the following:
The J6 has treble, which in theory should make everything easier, right? I mean, that's the whole point of treble.
For better or for worse, GSI's are not made for a specific device. That's why the "G" stands for "Generic". This could be bad because there might be something in Samsung phones that make some stuff not work or something in Xiaomi phones, etc...
So the developers of these GSI's have to rely on people providing logs and stuff to attempt to fix stuff on devices they don't own. Either that, or a J6 user needs to learn how to fix stuff on their own (it is faster when you have the device).
So to answer your question, a "stable, daily driver" AOSP GSI will probably exist in due time if the developer keeps working and the community keeps helping in any way they can like provide detailed logs and information to try to fix stuff for the J6

Thank you for the explanation , i appreciated
I've loved my N7 2013 since I got it when it came out. It used to be unbelievably snappy, but at some point an OTA made it slow, then the next one even slower. I realised that the Facebook app kills the device so I took that off. Then I rooted the device and did a factory reset. It is less sluggish, but still a bit too slow for me.
If 6.0.1 stock, which I am running right now, is the culprit, which older stock should I go back to? I'd like to strike a balance between speed and going so far back in versions that the security risks and other trade-offs are too great.
I am prepared to also try a custom ROM but I would prefer using my tablet over fiddling with it so I'd like some advice as to which ROM (stock or otherwise) is most likely to speed up my beloved N7.
I highly recommend LineageOS 14.1. (Nougat) It was the last official version for N7 by LineageOS. Everything works on 14.1.... and it is super stable.
wileyc has an unofficial version of it. He is leaving the original build unchanged but is creating security updates almost weekly. Here is the link to his posting:

Thanks Tam, looks like a good contender. If one wants to regularly flash these updates for security, am I right in saying that each time the device is wiped, or can you avoid losing your configuration and apps? Is there a clever way to avoid a lot of hassle with backup/restore and reconfiguring your device each time?

Edit. Hi Lief, I mis-advised (hazzards of being a noob giving advice). You will actually have to do a clean install of lineage 14.1. Meaning that you will have to reinstall all of your apps and settings.... On a plus side there is virtually no bloat in Lineage 14.1, and there is something to be said for how well your N7 will run with a fresh install.
Sorry for the misinformation
Leif, You are correct. Nothing changes with your apps or configuration.
Just download the update/latest build to your device and install with TWRP. VOILA! Done. Pretty hassle free.

I can confirm that the answer is yes - LineageOS 14.1 on deb (LTE) does support video out via the USB port and a Slimport adapter.

Is there a similarly updated build for the LTE version?
Edit: NM, found the deb builds by replacing "flo" with "deb"!
Hi guys
Has someone tried to compare 14.1 and 17.1 performance?
I have installed 14.1 It looks great and just wondering how is the 17.1 fly on it?
thx
Lineage OS 14.1 vs 17.1 (Flo)
Hi guys,
I'm on lineage os 17.1 , Nexus 7 2013 Flo (32gb) , I remember having issues with bluetooth on 14.1 ( sisaxis controller ) and that's why I upgraded to 17.1.
It's a little bit laggy but nothing serious.
Hope that Can help.
So I came back to the forum after 6 months and was pleasantly surprised by the number of custom roms available now. From the few (currently trending) threads I checked out, I see that either there are still some kind of bugs are still lingering or the dev abandoned the project or the thread was closed or ... I think you get the point. For this reason, I'd rather stick with the official stock rom but I never quite liked the bloatware (both mi and google) and google tracking. To maximise performance and battery life, I wish to clean my rom of all of these stuff or, if possible, install a pre-configured one.
I have some questions though:-
1. Best way to debloat?
Yes, I have tried adb uninstall command when I first got the phone but for some reason, that didn't work. I saw a recent guide on the forum for this purpose that I could try later.
2. Any experience with microG on MIUI?
I don't know if it's possible/working on MIUI roms since this is my first Xiaomi device.
3. Recommended custom ROM?
I may have missed out on all the good stuff during my absence. If you could recommend a rom you find the most stable and clean, even if it is AOSP, it would save me a lot of time.
Look, you are probably going to tell me that I could have done a bit more search on my own before posting here. The thing is, I have returned to the whole modding stuff after 4 years so lest I might break/mess up things, I deemed it more reasonable to ask here.
Hope someone sees this. Thank you.
You're looking for the exact same thing I did.
For me the solution was lineageos with microg, magisk, fdroid store + aurora store.
Lineageos has some minor bugs for me, as well as cameras not working properly.
Reason for most bugs in the most roms is probably that they are based on Android 10,
the devs will probably be able to solve all the bugs as soon as Xiaomi releases miui 12 for this device, which will be based on Android 10.
What you are looking for is probably miui EU rom.
You can easily debloat most of the unwanted sofware with "Xiaomi ADB/Fastboot tools".
Your problems with ADB probably has to do with SU priviligies.
If I remeber correctly you have to use Xposed framework in order to get microg running on miui, I could be wrong on this!
Hope this helps a bit!

Thanks! I am more inclined to use vanilla Android than MIUI. At least now I know my desired setup is within the realm of possibility. Will surely give LineageOS a try.
I apologise in advance if this is the wrong place to post this..
I recently got a Ulefone power armor 13 that I've been trying to to de-google, I've avoided smartphones for a long time due to concerns about tracking ect but I decided to take the plunge after seeing articles online about privacy focused google android alternatives.
The one I've really been trying to get to run is CalyxOS, I know it only officially supports a limited number of smartphones but there are some unofficial GSI ROMs of it. I really liked the idea of being able run both open source apps and google apps with spoofing, I know I said that I was trying to degoogle this phone but the simple fact is there are a few google apps I'd like to run if I can avoid the tracking.
Unfortunately I've only had dead ends and headache trying to to get them to install but I have had some luck getting AOSP GSI to install so I'd like to try something new.
Can anyone recommend a GSI rom that has either microg or some other way of spoofing google? Or alternatively a way of adding it to a AOSP GSI rom?
Many thanks for your time.
What do you mean by "spoofing Google"?
Spoofing may have been the wrong term to use, what I meant by "spoofing Google" was some means of allowing google apps run without my data getting back to them.

From what I've read online microg does this by somehow creating a fake ID for the device. Now my laypersons understanding may have have got this wrong if I have I would appreciate it if you could point me in the direction of some reliable info?
If I understood everything correctly this would need to be used along side the Aurora store or a similar app store to get the full benefit of it.
Maybe a better way to phrase my request would have been are there any GSI roms that do the same thing as CalyxOS or is it possable to get something similar with a stock AOSP GSI image and adding microg to it myself?

I'm not sure if you had any luck or not. I thought I would follow up to this. I don't know why there's not much posting info on GSI ROM's. From what I've found there are ROM's available for what you are looking for. I did find some degoogled GSI ROM's even with or without microG preinstalled. If you need a list of some, I can provide you. I'm not sure they will work, but it is sometimes a trial and error. For the phone you listed you should be able to get some to work though.
Hi defcondoc
Thanks for taking th time to reach out to me, I currently have the phone running an Arrowos GSI ROM from the phhutson ROM list and so far its been ok for me though I would be REALLY happy to have list of other possible ROMS to play/tinker with. Afterall you never know what you might find unless you try new things.
If you have the time send me the list you have I would be really greatfull, I don't mind if they don'e have microg preinstalled at this point so long as its clearly marked that its not prinstalled.
Thanks again.
