That error is because you dont have Vendor partition. To get the Vendor partition you need to install the treble supported Rom from Mokee first. Boot it up and gp back to TWRP and clean flash any other rom you like.
When you trebelize your phone with MOKEE it will install the vendor partition and you ll get rid of the error.
But, if you dont want to install MOKEE or treblize your phone, you dont need to. That error is just because TWRP is looking for Vendor partition and not finding it. The regular oreo and OOS roms dont see vendor partition anyway. It is just because TWRP is updated to support treble roms.

Use twrp-3.2.1-0-universal-codeworkx-dumpling recovery. I had faced same problem.

What chipset are you using? If Qualcomm. Just put the phone in Fastboot mode and Boot Twrp . Then Go Advanced>reboot to edl(this will put the phone in download mode). In pc, choose your stock rom files and click download to start flashing. Remember to have Atleast 20% of battery( get necessary adb drivers for fastboot commands and Qualcomm drivers for edl)

i have recovery twrp and i test it in adb is not work

Hi, I think you should try to format data. Probabby via fastboot, then install TWRP.
Not sure which are the correct commands for the full format, so have a look around or someone else will help.
Otherwise there is the unbrick guide here in the forums to try.
I'm having a similar issue. So any advice would be great. Just updated to most recent unofficial TWRP (having been on a previous version). Now when entering my pin to decrypt it is not accepted. Would prefer not to have to format data.

I believe the decrypt is a known issue with TWRP and OB8/OB9 with F2FS /data partition. I don't think there's a work around at this time without formatting /data and rooting to prevent encryption.

Hopefully there will be, but it doesn't look promising right now. @eng.stk is the one that was modding the TWRP, but has since stopped doing TWRP dev.

Do you guy know where to get the stock recovery for openbeta 9? I downloaded somewhere a file recovery_OBT8N.img, but it still shows dm-verity issue.

Fastboot Format system and data
Then fastboot flash stockrecovery
Then boot to system
Sideload rom
Then fastboot boot twrp28
Then wipe data and install superuser in one go

you mean: fastboot erase userdata?
Btw, I just ignore the dm-verity message to enter stock recovery, and do adb sideload openbeta9.zip and when it boots up again, the dm-verity message is no longer there.
I would try to format (erase userdata) data and flash the modded twrp.

Yeah fastboot Format userdata
But since you don't have the dm-verity you can skip the fastboot Format. Boot into the modd twrp and when it asks for password, hit cancel and then format data (you will have to type 'yes').
Then flash SuperSU or superuser in the same session without booting. This will ensure dm-verity doesn't come up again as it will start in enforcing mode, thanks to SuperSU/superuser.
You may be able to flash twrp afterwards but I haven't tried it.

Probably a bad flashing and you are needing repari partitions, for that I recommend start from beginning again:
- flash miui rom for fastboot (unpack zip rom in your adb folder for better performance, connect device to pc into mode fastboot, be sure device be recogniced typing; fastboot devices then right click mouse and execute like admin over "flash all".
- then to install rom you can flash again twrp via fastboot typing any place adb folder and placing file recovery.img this folder; fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
- then go to recovery with hardware keys and flash supersu v.2.79

two things; I assume that trying to flash from extSD, if yes with file explorer of recovery copy to internal memory, maybe an issue to reading extSD, also you can to install a newer version of recovery 3.0.3.2 works sometimes for me and last here you have a reading page about install fastboot on mac (nightmare) http://www.stechguide.com/setup-adb-and-fastboot-on-mac-easy-step-by-step-guide/

Root issues in Oreo

I'm installing twrp but whenever i try to boot into twrp all my data is wiped and twrp is unable to mount it
"Could not mount /data and unable to find crypto footer"
I need to manually change the filesystem and then again change to ext4 for twrp to mount data.
Main issue is i want to use snapchat and for that i need to boot into OS, login into snapchat and then root in twrp
but again as soon as i boot into twrp my data partition is not mountable. I have flashed no_encrypt_no_verity.dm_ashyx to disable dm-verity.
Flashed various twrp version from 3.0 to 3.2
Also did a clean OS flash from odin but still no luck.
Any suggestion and help will be appreciated.

As soon as i boot in twrp, data is not mountable. So I then go to
wipe-->adv wipe-->(select data partition)repair or change partition-->change partition format-->fat
TWRP then wipes it to fat filesytem, then i change it to ext4 (which is readable by OS)
then only data partition is mounted.
Afterwards I flash no-verity-no-encryption_ashyx and RMM patch
Boots normal to OS
Again boot to twrp i get error unable to mount /data
I had this issue in nougat but it used to happen only once. After flashing patch i used to not get this error repeated

Which twrp version are you using?
Try...
The universal "no verity opt encrypt".
Magisk for the above, or safetynet evasion.
Backing up snapchat in /data/data/ and /sdcard/Android/data/, and load the backup. By PC or external sdcard, or load the backup later.

Tried the universal version for samsung and applied RMM patch, unfortunately same issue again.
I think that this has to do with SEpolicy. In nougat i used to get a small red warning at the edge of screen while booting to twrp. That time i did not face this
issue. Now I dont get any warning..boots into twrp with data partition corrupted.
I dont know, ive tried everything possible but no luck.
This is how I did and it works on my A320FL:
1. I installed Ashyx's version of TWRP via odin.
2. Boot into TWRP and "Format Data" from "Wipe" menu.
3. Flash SuperSu.
4. Flash Ashyx's patch.
5. Reboot phone(into recovery again).
6. Update TWRP with McFy's version.

So I think is something concerning the MM firmware that was not fixed with the N and O updates, 'cause I bought it very close to his launch too. I solved it by flashing a custom rom, so I think the problem was in official MM firmware or something went wrong in the OTA updates

At this point the only advice I can give you is to do a full wipe including "Internal Storage" (if you didn't) before flashing with Odin.
I really don't guess it will solve the problem on an official firmware, but there's no harm in trying

No matter what you try at this point you're data will always encrypt and will need to be formatted. TWRP will always reset.
This requires a whole different route and needs you to edit system files.
I'll get back to you with details.

This method requires intermediate knowledge of Windows and CMD commands....I've tried to simplify it and hope it is easy enough to go through
The files that need editing are the ramdisk fstab files.
Basically you are going to unpack boot.img, edit the files and repack it.
Here's how you do it:
In windows...From the firmware, open the AP file with WinRAR. Extract boot.img.lz4 and save it to your desktop
Go here https://github.com/lz4/lz4/releases/download/v1.8.2/lz4_v1_8_2_win64.zip
Extract it then just place your boot.img.lz4 to directory of lz4
Next open up cmd as admin and cd to the location where lz4.exe is located
In cmd type lz4.exe boot.img.lz4
This will unpack the lz4 file.
Now download http://www.mediafire.com/file/93a3f4bikaxh6tj/MTK_Extractor_V2.6.3.zip
Just open exe go to boot tab select the unpacked boot.img
This will extract the files you need and it will create folder called "initrd" and it will contain the contents of boot.img.
Make sure you have Notepad++ installed to edit the files.
Go to the MTK folder where your files have been extracted
Right click Fatah.goldfish and select open with Notepad++
Next find the phrase ",encryptable=userdata"
Delete it
Close the tab in Notepad++ and click to save
Back to MTK folder and right click fstab.ranchu. Open with Notepad++
Find the phrase ",quota,forceencrypt=/dev/block/vdd"
Delete it
Find the phrase ",encryptable=userdata"
Delete it
Close the tab in Notepad++ and click to save
Back to MTK folder and right click fstab.samsungexynos7880. Open with Notepad++
Find the phrase ",verify"
Delete it
Find the phrase ",forceencrypt=footer,quota"
Delete it.
Close the tab in Notepad++ and click to save
Next, go back to the MTK program and press the repack button
This will create your new boot.img file
Go back to the MTK folder. You should see your old boot.img file saved as "boot-old.img" and your new file as "boot.img"
Install 7-zip
Back to MTK right click your new boot.img. select 7-zip then select "add to archive"
This will open up another window. Simply select "tar" from the dropdown menu for "Archive format"
Press OK
This will create a new file "boot.tar"
Flash this via Odin with phone in Download mode
The boot will now be patched and you can set up TWRP as you need.
This whole process will need repeating if a new AP is flashed

Can I put a roms on a bootloader unlocked lmg710ulm?

Last night I managed to get my bootloader unlocked using this method. Awesome, but now I'm stuck on the 11g firmware and I can't even update magisk correctly. I found the unofficial lineage 16 for the European model but that can only be installed from European firmware. I flashed the latest European pie kdz and found that I could no longer enter the bootloader (even though it's still unlocked). I've tried installing twrp but as of now there is only a semi-persistant version which doesn't really do anything for me. So for now I'm stuck, any ideas?
i am using the 10th release of lineageos 16 for the persistant twrp.
edit: also, i installed it from canadian pie (20a) and it worked fine.
Thanks! I'll give that a shot tonight

PM and ULM models seem to have issues with pie not loading bootloader.
Sticking to oreo seems to fix this issue. But lineage being installed over oreo shouldnt cause a big issue.

I can't send files to twrp from my computer, so I don't have a way to flash it (even on oreo which loads the bootloader fine)

Did you try adb push? When you are in twrp open openshell:
adb push .\file name /sdcard/"destination" (with out quotes) or you might have to format data to access internal storage.
Running GSI LOS 16. Will update after running it for few hours.

Just got around to messing with this thing again, I can't seem to access adb sideload from twrp:
"Could not mount /data and unable to find crypto footer.
Failed to mount '/data' (Unknown error 150)
Unable to recreate /data/media folder.
Updating partition details...
Failed to mount '/data' (Unknown error 150)
... done
Unable to mount storage
Failed to mount '/data' (Unknown error 150)
Full SELinux support is present.
Unable to mount /data/media/TWRP/.twrps
MTP Enabled
Starting ADB sideload feature..."
It fails several seconds later. So far there's no way for me to push the file using adb. Any other suggestions?

Did you format the data first? if you didn't, go to wipe select format and type yes and after that reboot to recovery.

YOU sir, are an absolute life saver. I feel dumb that it was such a simple fix. I was able to copy over the file! But trying to install it failed for some unknown reason. Thanks again!

Found it, I downloaded a file called "lineage-16.0-20190910-UNOFFICIAL-treble_arm64_bvN.img.xz" and extracted it. I tried installing the img as a system image, no dice. Not sure what to do from here...

What kind of message are you getting?

reboot to recovery
go to wipe and repair and resize the system
flash gapps
flash magisk (optional)

looks like I'm stuck in bootloop. I managed to flash everything successfully without any errors but couldn't actually boot into the system. Do I need to flash a rom as well as a system image?

Yes, flash the system img that you get from zip in system partition. That is all you flash in GSI no zip for system.

I must not have the right image file then, I can keep looking. What site did you get yours from?

I'm having problems with TWRP and OrangeFox, permission errors all the time

I'm facing some permissions problems and thus being unable to install Paranoid Android Q5. I was using MIUI 12 (Xiaomi.EU).
The steps I took to change the ROM:
Formated data (errors started right away) then I did the usual wipes (cache, dalvik, data)
Whenever I try to wipe or format data I get error messages like: Error opening /data/XXX (Operation not permitted).
System is always mounted read-only no matter what I try and after I install any ROM many of these error messages pop up.
Orange Fox gives some error about key.
Flashing of the ROM suceeds, but system cannot boot, loading screen forever.
Can anyone point me some directions?
Thanks in advance and sorry about any possible bad grammar.

Mount system, vendor and data manually and then try. If fails then try with pitchblack recovery.

Any update on this?
I still had those problems. I don't know if it is a problem with the TWRP or something similar. Is there any progress to solve this problem? I wanted to try the pixel experience betas with Android 11 but because of this problem with the TWRP I have not succeeded (in case I have Android 10 under MIUI 12.0.3 and RN8 Ginkgo model and obviously unlocked bootloader)

Format data ..(backup first if u need ) .. the boot to recovery again ... Should decrypt the data ... Worked for me ...
I am having this exact problem.
Under internal storage (sdcard) I see a bunch of hashed folders I cannot open.
Format data returns a multitude of "Error opening '/data/somefolder/asdf/asdf' (Operation not permitted) and marks the wipe as Failed. The attempted formatting also mentions "E:Error making /sdcard/Fox directory: Required key not available." "Failed to unmount '/data' (Device or resource busy)
I can wipe anything except Data. I also tried downgrading to 12.0.1 firmware but it does not fix it for me.
The ROM can be booted into, and magisk managed to be installed, but no google apps were installed.

I tried this, but no luck on my side.
Recovery download link on description. Only for Note 8/8T.
I flashed it with fastboot and works fine!
A problem like this was the one I had since TWRP had the device encrypted but it did not inform me and it did not give me any sign that I had to write a password (password that I have no idea what it is).
What I did so that it did not give me an error was to install Orangefox and while there delete everything and install a file of these that I got from google.
I had to try one by one and restart to see if it asked me for a password in orangefox, luckily one worked and it no longer asked me to decrypt the files and I could install the rom and gapps normally

if you need to do something to system or vendor go to ofox menu/mount and choose what partition to mount

Can't wipe it still, I already try the Mount > ✓ Vendor ✓ System.. but in formatting it say's "Cant Mount the....blah..blah.."
I try to uncheck the "Mount System vendor, system as read-only" from the settings of mount.. but for some reason, if you go back to Mount options again, you can't check the system, vendor now

Yes, I need it to flash a ROM
try this it worked
Had the same issue.
1. I installed twrp via ADB
2. Restarted to recovery mode into twrp
3. Installed the latest OrangeFox and restarted into recovery again.
4. It asked me for a password which is the pin I set then proceeded to format data.
5. After formatting data I restarted again to recovery.
Then I was able to install custom roms.
I am using derpfest Android 12 on my Poco x3 pro. I want to install magisk.zip through orange fox recovery installed on my phone. But I am not getting storage data on recovery, only a fox folder is there. Can somebody tell me is it a glitch or any Android 12 restrictions or something.
