Anyone else having issues with Oreo and the latest Theme Store version? - Razer Phone Questions & Answers

I just get an app crash every time I try to apply a theme. I can browse and download themes just fine, but every time I try to apply one (any one it seems) the app crashes before any theme elements are applied.

Nope working fine here.
Try force stopping the theme store and disabling it. This will uninstall all updates and then enable it again and update it and try the themes.

Yeah, tried that. Tried disabling it, re-enabling it, updating it, then rebooting the phone. Still crashes. Tried uninstalling the update and running the stock version, still crashes.

Hrmm, further fiddling and the Domin8 theme applies. After applying that, Venom can apply too, but not Arrival or Bushido, or Torment: Tides of Numenera.

Huh that's odd. I just applied Bushido and the default theme okay this is certainly strange.
Can you go to the developer settings and take and bug report after the crash happens and upload it to Google drive and post it here with full sharing abilities?
That way @TheCrazyLex can take a look see if he has time.
You're not rooted or anything like that are you?

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1XpHM4CtR7OplBvEg_0lH9SCVyN4SaYpg
Here's the report immediately following the crash when I attempted to apply "Bushido".
edit: I'm not rooted or running any custom rom. Totally stock.
edit again: I browsed through the log pack myself and the exception begins shortly after 05-09 11:45:43.184 where there appears to be a null pointer that shouldn't be null.

Thanks a lot for the report!
I've forwarded it to the right people to check on the issue.

I had this issue when I first got the phone about 6 weeks ago and just stopped using it as you can update theme through Nova. I then checked about 2 weeks ago and it was working. Suspect the app had maybe updated itself?

Latest update (version 1.11.229) seems to have corrected the issue for me. All the themes that previously caused crashes on apply now apply successfully.

Hello,
I'm having some trouble with the Theme Store, cannot download any themes at all. I am on latest MR1 oreo release and have the most up to date Theme Store installed.
When I hit 'Download' it just says "Preparing Download" but nothing happens. I have only ever been able to download and apply the flat blue theme but no other ones.
Any suggestions?

I'd start with the basics. Remove the app updates, force stop it, and then clear the app's data and cache. For giggle, reboot the phone after that. Then re-install the store version and try again.

Just tried all that, disabled the app to remove updates, force stop, clear data and cache. Rebooted the phone, re-enabled the app and installed updates. Same deal, does not download any theme.
Tried on WiFi and mobile data too.

Download Android Market 3.3.12 here
If normal installation didn't work out well for you, use the method below.
Procedure to install via Root Explorer Method
1. Download the apk file from the above link to your sd card.
2. Now using Root explorer, go to /system/app
3. Mount the system to r/w.
4. Now search for Vending.apk & rename it to Vending.apk1
5. Copy the file you just downloded to /system/app & rename it to Vending.apk
6. Now press & hold the app and select Permissions
7. Select only the options given below. Now REBOOT & enjoy.....
Wow, it actually installed right over market. No, application not installed crap. Very cool.
You may have to backport to a prior version if using 3.2 from the ICS leak before installing 3.3... At least I had to on my Flyer.
Dreaded application not installed error.
Can someone help? I can't get it to install on my rooted Thunderbolt.
I tried just installing the APK and it wouldn't work, got the "Application not installed". Then I tried through root explorer but I couldn't get that to work either. I don't have a "market" apk in my system/app folder but I thought I read somewhere to replace the "vending" apk. That didn't work either.
What am I doing wrong?
Anyone have the new Markit App in the flashable version?
I currently have the 3.2.0.ver, and it wont install over the old version?
Ok so I tried updating from 3.2 and since I couldn't I deleted it with TB and then installed the new version. So now I can't install install or update apps and if I try market fc's and the app cannot be found anymore. Market isn't a system app for me anymore so maybe that's the problem?
Now I tried moving the market apk to system with root explorer so let's see if that helps
Very nice. I have had many issues with the previous one where installing an application would just get it stuck on the "Installing" for at least a few seconds to minutes and do nothing. And only would go through when I would Force Close the market application, and even then it would not always be a guarantee that it actually would work.
Sometimes I would be so fed up that I actually would browse to the market website on the phone and install an application through there.
This version seemed to have fixed this, now when I press "Install" it actually....does install!
Market 3.3.11
I moved market 3.3.11.apk with root explorer to system/app and renamed it to Vending.apk, changed permissions, and works good!

Go to Aplication Manager, select the App SuperSU, and Unistall updates. That should bring you back to the older version. Just make sure you don't have Auto Update turned on from Google Play. Otherwise, it is going to update it back to new version.

According to ChainFire (He is the developer) on Google+, it will be fix on the next update. So, I would just wait if you can't uninstall the current version.

[Q] VILLUMINATI ART Problems

About a week ago I installed the VILLUMINATI Unofficial version of Cyanogenmod 11, which gave me Android 4.4.1. I've had no problems with it so far until I tried to enable the ART runtime. I enabled it and it started up alright, but after the boot process gapps kept crashing. I tried looking through the thread and didn't see anything (unless I missed it), and tried re-downloading and re-flashing the gapps, but to no avail. I switched back to Dalvik runtime and everything went back to normal. I was hoping someone had a fix for this so I could save a little extra battery and make my phone run a bit faster with ART. Thanks for your time.
what gapps are you using?

The problem must be coming from the gapps you installed ...what gapps are you using? It might not have the google apps that are compatible with ART
Use the PA mini modular gapps...(sorry I can't give you the link since I don't have 10 posts -__- Lol)
I recommend this specific one because the full & google stock gapps has had a history of causing some issues..

The only way I was able to get ART to run without force closes, was to reboot to recovery as soon as you select the ART runtime. Then wipe both cache and dalvik cache. Then reboot. I had zero force closes this way.
Also remember ART is fairly new so some apps may not work correctly.

Same as you would any other ROM for safestrap...
Wipe everything except sdcard
Install ROM
Flash modules
Reboot
(Don't worry about the kernel. Since our bootloader is locked, the kernel will not install but the rest of the ROM installation will complete without issue.)
Installed fine via Safe Strap only issue not keeping wifi passwords.
Won't boot for me after doing a full wipe. Also flashed NC1 modem, kernel and bootloader.
Is it necessary to odin back to stock to get this working?

I'm always able to get back into Safestrap and restore a previous backup. I'm getting stuck at the boot animation. I was asking about odining because in the past certain ROMs would not load properly with a full wipe and I took odin to get it up and running. Just more time consuming, but I'll go ahead and do this later tonight to see the results.

I got the same message today but I know exactly why I did. Something changed or modified your google play services app. I am running ZoneROM - 09.17.14 - D85110M - DeODEX with G3 Tweakbox (the latest that was pushed out today) and decided to try one of the themes that the developer warned us may or may not work lol. Needless to say after a reset I got that message. After I uninstalled the theme and set is ALL back to stock and gave it another reset the message came back.
The only fix (that worked for me) was to dirty flash the rom and wipe dalvik cache and chache afterwards. Hope this helps!:good:

Yeah all this started after I installed the latest g3 tweaksbox and messed with the themes. I restored to a nandroid backup but the issue continues. Wtf this is crazy
This doesn't make any sense. I flash back to a much earlier backup and the popups come right back once i try to update apps in the Play Store
I am getting them to. Didn't switch anything up that I can think of..
I started getting this message when i switched to the google keyboard. Switched back to lg keyboard and it went away.
Ok is definitely the Google play services update is to blame. I did a factory reset. Everything was fine until I updated the Google play services plug in again. Instantly the popups returned
I had these issues until I disabled "Disable Location Consent" in xposed. It does not play nice with the new play services yet.
