Lack of Roms and Devs For Kirin compared to SD chips

Im in USA and I have 2 Honor 5Xs running RR Unofficial with plenty of Roms to chose from its Launch date. The Honor 6X has the Kirin chipset and finally has picked up developers and Roms in their development area after quite a long time.
I thought I read that the Kirin processor had much less development due to the fact it was not open source like qualcomms from 5X. I may be wrong or ill informed of course. Will the lack of roms development be the same problem with Honor 7X? Looking to upgrade to Honors next budget phone. Please be honest. Thanks.

i wont buy another honor. the devs abandon it too much, plus the honor 6x lagged like no other. do what i did and grab a moto g5s plus for $279, its a great device with good development.

It will be easier for Devs to bring ROMs because of treble, let's see what they'll bring

The development for 6X has taken pace from this month start.. almost 3-4 roms have come forward with regular improvement.
7X will get the same love from the devs.. treble is around the corner as well :fingers-crossed:

Because Honor devices already have separate vendor partition that's required for treble

Sorry for spamming the thread but need a confirmation if Honor 9i will support Project treble. Honor 9i is almost identical as Honor 7x minus screen size and Camera.
My decision to buy Honor phone depends upon Project treble implementation.

If it gets Oreo, treble will come automatically

No, it is not the case. A phone that ships with Oreo will need to be Project treble compliant if it is updating to Oreo then Manufacturer can skip it.

All devices (H9, H8Pro, Mate 9 confirmed) that have been upgraded to Oreo by Huawei comming from nougat got Treble and the new 4.4 kernel.
I can only guess but i'm 99% sure that the 7x gets it aswell.
BTW, they usually implement the latest of the latest when it comes to under the hood android changes.

OldDroid already confirmed that OpenKirin team have the device

If you're a crack flasher, I'd go with the G5S+. I went with the 7x because it has a better camera compared to the G5S+ and a refreshing design compared to these other mid-ranged 5.5 inch metal clones. I'd gladly wait patiently for development.

Since there's no release date for that version it's a gamble. No one knows when or if it's to be released. I'm just as eager as the rest of you guys. Hey I even bought 10 cases for a phone yet to be released

I preordered Redmi Note 5 Global version and the seller said that it'll be shipped by middle of April "normally".

well sellers on like aliexpress and the like don't have a definite release date for the phone, so all it is at this point is a preorder. i mean xiaomi hasn't announced a global release yet.

I think Xiaomi is worse when it's android update.I previously had Redmi 3s prime which was launched with android m and still it is android m.
You can expect android o for Rn5pro.Dont think about P and Q.
But as this device will have project treble support we only can expect higher android versions.
The only reason I chose Xiaomi again because it offer good specs in bugdet and the existence of XDA.

I think it's a little error from AliExpress because I've seen in many forums that the Redmi Note 5 Global Version will be on MIUI 9.5/Android 8.1

thanks ill wait till its available in my country. and be sure that i can get warranty in my country. as i heard many had problems and mi-mexico doesnt have an actual store or reapir shop yet. so many people frustrated that they cannot get any help with a phone that has problems. i need to do a lot of reasearch. or maybe buy online. will see . thanks

This makes me wonder, Will the rn5 global comes with Indian 5 pro specs or China 5 specs? Coz both global and indian version shares same rom according to md5 hash on mi website.

I'm pretty sure it'll come with chinese specs
You can have a look at the official China version specs here : http://en.miui.com/thread-2130525-1-1.html
And here is the Global version specs :

For example, you may notice that the global version will have B20 frequency for 4G, unlike the Chinese version, but otherwise they are the same specs as the Chinese version

I hope we will receive oreo next..

Personally I think Oreo will come perhaps 1-2 months after the G6 launch.
I still see Motorola using the Android 7 v 8 comparison between the phones as a marketing ploy.

they have sent emails comparing the G5S having 7.1 vs the new G6 with android 8.0.. and then there are the fanboys of motorola saying it was never delayed..

Motorola could step up and give us the android P beta, then release the official in august-september, it counts as only one update just dreaming

The Galaxy Nexus got an 8.1 port so I doubt they would give up on the g5 phones

Oreo != Treble. We won't get treble.
Lenovo screwed us over, stock-ish Android but no major updates or improvements other than security patches. I will never buy another one of their phones again that's for sure. Next device will probably be a Android One device like the Nokia 7 Plus.

I'm not sure about US but for Chinese variant it's coming in the second half of August.Except for Honor 10 they didn't announce beta program for any device.I don't think they will announce one for 7x as it's not a firmware upgrade

I knew about the beta. But who gets to participate in it ?
There isn't a proper method for joining the beta program or is there any? If you think of the beta app,it isn't showing any projects right now ( atleast not yet )

I was wondering the same. Honor haven't provided any methods/programs to sign up for GPU Turbo Beta (unlike Honor 10).

The honor 7x has gotten the gpu turbo beta update outside of the US. Does anyone know if the US version will get a beta too?

It's only available in China and nowhere else.So rest of us need to wait till September

Will this phone get an Android 11 update? I highly doubt because the NRM 3 and 3s didn't get an Android 10 update. I heard Nubia has a poor software support so....

Yes, we shouldnt count on it, but lets hope nubia put more effort in this time around, their updates and fixes for RM5g is quite good allready for the android 10 rom. They have fixed almost all bugs and issues the users have reported.

Nubia technical staff has assured us that 11 will come to RM5G.
Also, a phone has been pooled by RM5G users for a good dev and he has started working on AOSP for the phone.
