Hi, I bought an honor 7x in december, it came from China, and the sellers changed the software version from BND-AL10 to the one from Europe BND-L21, I had upgraded my phone once using firmware finder, but I´m a little nervous about doing the big upgrade, I don´t know if there will be any problem because of the version change.
Also, I haven´t recieved any official upgrade, I don´t if it´s because of that or because of my country (I live in Mexico), I´ll appreciate your help
I'm in the same boat. I was wondering if it would be better to flash the AL10 or L21 version of Oreo.
Worst case scenario, I can just choose to wipe the device and flash the AL10 version from scratch for Treble.
The upside, as I just recently found out, is that the bootloader comes unlocked already. It's pretty fortunate considering that they took down the website to unlock the bootloader.

Yes I know want too
Well, I used Firmware Finder to download the Oreo update and, to my surprise, it worked perfectly. I went straight from B101 to the newest version. After updating I formatted the device and installed phh's GSI, and it's working great.

Hi Ahmad, just curious. Where are you based and which if the 2 options did you consider to download the firmware and also did the checking firmware access mention it is not approved for your device or was it approved. Thanks for your feedback in advance.
My experience as mentioned by someone else in the forum was that it is not approved and hence even after downloading the files it didn't get installed.

I'm from Canada, and I chose the second-last option for 8.0 on the L21-C432 section of Firmware Finder. It said it was approved, although in the past when I tried updating even if it was approved it didn't work.
Thanks bro. Appreciate the prompt response. Guess I will just have to wait till my turn comes in India

Hey everyone.
I'm running on completely Stock 5.1.1 OK1 on my Note 4 and just recieved the official MM OTA update last night. Due to my phone having a lot of junk and being laggy I decided to flash the official firmware from any external method to have a clean install of the os. I heard about Samsung Kies which makes a back up of your phone and installs the latest os, I installed and backed up my phone last night but it didn't seem to give me an update on the os, it said "This is the latest version" (5.1.1 COK1).
My main concern about this is. I've bought this phone from Pakistan (used phone but in brand new condition) and I'm currently living in Malaysia and I have no idea who was the previous owner of this phone. In Kies it shows the phone number different than what I have (maybe its the Sprint phone number?).
What if my carrier is locked by having a clean install? Or any sort of other related issue occurs.
Please take some time to enlighten the facts from your knowledge, will highly appreciate it.
Regards.
waiting for official release bro. If rom is released on sammobile, see the icon kies highlighted on the right.

Yeah but you totally missed my question here.
Its not that I don't want to do some research myself, I'm a student and I'm busy most of the time. So if anyone can take out their precious time to answer my question I'd really appreciate the help.
If you're concerned about your phone or sim getting lock..you can just use galaxy tools apk v3.1.5 & then upgrade the apk to v3.1.8 & it will unlocked it for you... but i doubt it will lock you down... maybe you can just try to back your rom completely & restore if any issues encounter
it's dependent on the way that they unlocked the phone, someone in vietnam has been locked after updated the phone, but my phone was not.

And I have no idea how my phone was unlocked, I just bought it like this. I can see the Sprint phone number on Samsung Kies maybe I should write an email to Sprint asking them to unlock it using that Sprint phone number?
I purchased a Z2 Play (Freedom Mobile in Canada, XT1710-01, retca channel). I proceeded to unlock the bootloader, install TWRP and root (Magisk 13.3, then upgraded to v14). However, doing this obviously makes installing OTAs not possible. Unfortunately I didn't do a stock backup of anything before doing the above.
From my understanding, installing OTAs requires stock recovery and an unmodified system partition. So, I tried installing just the stock recovery from the RETAIL stock ROM (from here. Then I did a full uninstall of Magisk, expecting (hoping) that would put my phone back into a state (unmodified system partition) that would allow me to install OTA updates.
I presently have an OTA update pending (NPS26.118-15 which has July security updates and Moto Mods 2.0 support, among other things).
However, when I try to install it, my phone reboots and it displays the "Installing system update" screen for a few seconds, then goes to an "Error!" screen, with the green android laying down and an red exclamation mark coming out of his belly. OTA failed.
I am able to restart and boot back into Android, and get the message indicating the OTA failed and nothing was changed.
Can anyone offer any other thoughts or help on things I could try to get the OTA updates to apply? (Just for funsies, I did also try Chainfire's Flashfire, but had no luck with that either.)
I have Z2 Play from Freedom Mobile as well. I'm currently at NPSS26.118-19-4. I was bootlooping into TWRP and I had no other choice and took the risk and chanced flashing the ROM from Junior Passos over at his site. Can't post links but Google motozbrasil.
It says XT1710-07 but it's working fine for me. I'm rooted and passing SafetyNet as well. The ROM automatically detected and says retca on software channel and changed the last bit of string on the baseband as NA_Cust.
I can confirm it works but like I said was my only option. Please be careful. I'm not responsible if it doesn't work for you.
Edit: My SKU in Hardware Information displays XT1710-01 as well not XT1710-07.

That's great to hear. I've seen his ROM, but had concerns about flashing it on our device. Glad to hear, I'll probably give that a go, then.
Just to finish off this thread, I successfully installed @Junior Passos's ROM and everything is working great.
I didn't root or install TWRP (left it at stock) this time, I'm curious if future OTAs will work for me now.
Thanks for sharing this. I was wondering why "nobody" has tried to flashed the RETAIL stock image (which came from a motorola server) and is mirrored at

It's one and the same. On Junior's site, the download link he has links the the lolinet.com one.

Junior just has helper files and instructions to make it easy.

Ok, great. I guess, when I read "Junior's site" , I had this site in mind at https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=195559&sort_by=date&sort_dir=DESC which basically contains the "stock backup" of his XT1710-07 phone.
I should not have skimmed your posts. My bad

I also tried this RETAIL image, and it seems cross compatible in my case too. I flashed only the "service.xml" with RSD lite and did not lose any data. Software channel and model did not change either.

An update from me on this. I mentioned I installed Junior Passos's ROM (the August update one), but then left my phone at stock (no root, no TWRP) to see if OTAs would work. Good news, I got the notification about the September OTA update yesterday, and I was able to download and install it with no issues! Sweet.

Do you have updates in English after doing all of this? I just got my Z2 Play from Amazon today and noticed that it is on the RETLA channel and all of my system updates are in Spanish. The phone still functions in English, and so far I have found nothing else that is not in my language. However, it kind of bothers me that my updates are not tied to my region, so I'm really hoping that there is a way to get my phone on the RETUS channel, or at the very least, get my update notes in my language.
Hello, today i recived an LG G7, but it has firmware brand (TIM)
I was wondering if I changed the firmware with another one, would I get the automatic updates via ota?
Thanks
I bought a TIM branded device, flashed stock 10k OPEN kdz and I don't think the OTA is working
i have the same issue, someone can help?

I also had tim and when I switched to no brand I stopped receiving ota and also lg bridge no longer updates my phone. I now use LGUP every time there is an update and do a manual upgrade. The lg bridge update log says the phone fails an imei test so I believe there's no other way to update for me and probably for you too.

If it was pure open stock, it shouldn't show that "222-01" thing in software info. It should be "EUR-XX". And I can't make it that way. I'm wondering if anybody achieved it.
Same issue..received a Tim branded G7 so installed GBR open firmware from LG fan now all good no branding just no OTA UPDATES..Anyone know of a fix for this save flashing every new update.?
Any help/information much appreciated....
I’m going to try and flash the Italy open rom if there is one...see if that makes any difference..
What is the Italy code? Is it ITC?
So i flashed a few open firmwares..ITC and GBR open latest ones and earleir releases and none would OTA update only flashing back to origanal TIM firmware did it update OTA.
So its put up with branding etc and get all ota updates or flash a EU open firmware and keep doing this with every update.

No, only with hands through lgup
So is there any way for users to istall an open F.W so you don’t have network branding or bloatware
And still receive the OTA updates?and security patches
I know it don’t really make a massive difference but the branding and boot screen really winds me up for some reason..
I could send device back as I purchased in the uk thinking it would be a uk phone but it’s Italian..still says LG-G710EM so I guess it’s the Euro variant..
guys, for LMG710EM which firmware should i flash to remove brand?

Any that’s an open for your regional area...
Be aware if you do this you will no longer receive OTA updates.
I'm asking because i'm fresh in this topic (and generally in android) and i prefer to ask before i do something wrong.
Yes, i know that i will no longer receive OTA updates what is quite logic, but manual update via LGup isn't a big problem for me. Just less convenience.
So, for Poland, firmware G710EM10q_00_OPEN_EU_OP_1219.kdz should be okay, yes? and one more question, the process of updating via LGup looks like normal firmware updating (keeping the configuration and data) or like clean firmware flashing?

Yes that’s an okay firmware for Poland and yes LGUP wipes and gives clean install each time I’ve used it..there maybe a way to upgrade once you have initial new firmware as you don’t want issues so clean install is best to start then investigate upgrade for next time.
When should 9.0 roll out? the G8 already released with it...

Greetings,
I'm super new here, also a tech noob so pls be gentle.
I purchased an unlocked At&T Note 10+, and i am living in Malaysia. Little that I know At&T would never send updates to out network, and that I require an At&t SIM in order to get the updates. Currently I am stucked with Android 9, ONE UI 1.5, with no hope of getting anything higher than that.
My question is, how can i get the updates besides flashing a new firmware? I tried connecting to Smart Switch on my laptop, and all it can says is that my software is up to date on SJ8 (ATT).
Hope there's a way other than flashing. HELP.

Hi Mohd Azrimny,
Am in the same boat as you. In Malaysia and have the note 10 plus at&t version. How did you manage? I am using Odin and getting error message connection failed. Not sure what is the problem.
Can you point me from where you downloaded the firmware? I am suspecting that is the culprit.
Thanks!

I'm sorry but I don't think there's other way around, you'll need to flash another firmware.
I have an Unlocked Verizon Note10+, the first thing I did after getting it out of the box was flash the unbranded firmware (CSC: XAA).
Ever since, I've had OTA updates as quick as they're released for N975U1.

Can i simply choose any unbranded firmware (N975U1) from any month security updates n just flash it? I just need a stock ROM, not the latest should be ok as the OTA will take care of the rest.
Right now i'm at nov 2019 security updates SJ8 (ATT).

Well, unfortunately I'm not sure about previous versions, however I'm leaving attached my SW information, my CSC is XAA.
You can download it from sammobile or frija (this is way faster).
Hope this helps,
Regards.
So, knowing you are a noob is half the solution already...
I highly recommend you look for Frija on the internet. Download the tool, search for the phone you have , it is a SM-N975U , and since you want to get rid from the AT&T version, you can install the SM-N975U1 version with XAA as CSC, that Samsung themselves push updates to. Even if they will not, you can always download the next revisions..
I assume you know how to use Odin..

No worries, as Odin and the phone check revisions and suitability. If not the right firmware, it should not write it.

Hi guys, I recently purchased a refurbished S9+ without knowing the model and it turned out to be a SM-G965U. After a failed software update ("Your current software isn't supported. Visit a service centre"), I've been trying to find a way to update the phone to 'official' Android 10. Does anyone know if this is possible or is the phone locked to Android 9?
'OEM Unlock' is missing from developer settings which (I think) means it can't be rooted with any common method. But is it possible to flash the phone with an official, working version of Android 10?
I'm willing to use any method required (within reason) to update the phone to a working version of Android 10. I'm aware of the "Extreme Syndicate" root method but the bugs / missing features rule it out for me. I intend to get a refund for the phone if it can't be updated to Android 10 so I'd really appreciate any answers to my questions.
Thanks!

That's good news. Just to confirm, I can manually update with Odin WITHOUT unlocking OEM in the develop settings? Thanks for replying.
Just confirming that I successfully updated to Android 10 using Odin. The CSC I used is for an American carrier and the phone tries to register on its network but that's easily disabled. Had to be done after every reboot but it's a small price to pay for a working phone....
