S9 Battery consumption tweaks? - Samsung Galaxy S9 Questions & Answers

It is possible the recently released April security update also contains battery tweaks? Or very soon?

This is from a carrier in Australia, i have an unlocked version but the updates should be the same, the descriptions for updates on the official notes usually lack details.
I just got the update yesterday and will update this post with a screenshot of battery consumption.

Mine is Vodafone too, but from Italy. I have version 4.17.161.11.
My battery life has evened out to be kind of close to what I used to get but it's not as good as mm. I did do a factory reset and calibrated the battery and I'm now getting almost 3hrs of sot but it's about 30mins to 1hr less then before. I'm going to be putting my m9 in for a repair (hopefully free) to get my battery replaced before my warranty with Vodafone is up so if the battery does get replaced I'll do some tests to see if it's my battery or the update itself. If it's the update then I can light a fire under their butts to hopefully get Vodafone au and HTC to release a fix.

Good to know and I don't know about any work around but just check what apps are sucking battery. I did delete the one gallery app or whatever it's called as it was using over 25% of battery usage. I'd recommend calibrating your battery to get the best out of your phone. (I drain my phone to 0% or as close as I can get then charge it up to 100% with the phone off, unplug then turn it on drain it close to 5% if I can then charge the phone like normal and that usually works for me) I'll still put my phone in as it always turns off at 15% battery left or around that and won't turn on so it thinks it's dead with no charge when it's got 15% left.

I'd have to disagree as no phone in the world new or old has the ability to say,it's okay, you can root me now,it s the right time lmao, imo it's the 1st thing you do when you get a phone lol
back on topic: underclocking seems to have helped a little but to early to tell, also removed google chrome as that was sucking the most power & I ain't even used it once

See u are having 32gb memory and more over rooting is done to optimize apps and battery usage , optimization can also be done by disabling factory apps , root is my choice to install new rom
my battery dran now is like watching water go down a sink hole. I can literally see the drain go by one percent at a time ....i already disabled alot of my usual apps. but "HTC dot view" keeps coming up and i cannot disable even though I didn't activate it? didnt have this problem in Marshmallow.
i didnt disable Chrome (to save battery) because it now (in Nougat) apparently handles what Android System Webview app used to do in Marshmallow. (OT ,TL;DR I got a blank screen issue for Google play app because of Android Webvoew app problems not being updated...only solved it by auto-updating all my entire apps then updating the Android webview app and then switching back to Chrome and updating Chrome, for it all to work in Nougat..ie..Keep Chrome or Android Webview updated seems is required , or you may get blank screen on some apps ).

I deleted chrome from my phone and it's working just fine. There must have been some other issue with your phone.
And in regard to the battery drain: My phone's battery actually lasts longer than on MM. I only face a drain when I update Magisk from version 10.2 to 11.1. But I guess that info won't help you much since some of you are using a non-rooted stock rom...
Oh, and you better don't let your battery reach 0%. Lithium-ion batteries can get damaged by doing so. Android calibrates the battery automatically during the normal usage. And the memory effect only exists on Nickel–cadmium batteries so you don't have to fear losing capacity if you charge your M9 at higher percentages.

tks. I agree never let battery goto 0%. I never have either.
btw is your rom also vodafone Nougat? could be related to that rom?? , only because a few users here and I heard others seem to have same serious battery drain issue?
I had the "Blank app " issue when I updated to Nougat which (after gpogling and searching for a long while i found) some other Sony device users so had same blank google play app problem. The dev said that App System Webview had not been updated 'prior' to upgrading from Marshmallow to Nougat which caused thr problem.. apparently some bug in Nougat?. (I never updated Android webiew nor Chrome in marshmallow before). But after updating it, the blank screen on GooglePlay problem was rectified immediately...
apparently if you do disable Chrome, then Android System webview is automatically activated (for non rooted phones)? seems like we 'must' use one or the other now in Nougat stock?
TBH I just dont want to have the same ( really annoying) Google blank screen bug come back again..ya I could root this M9, my previous M9 was rooted, but after a 2nd replacement M9 , having had the previous one die suddenly, I decided keep this stock for the meantime.
Anyone know is there anyway Disable Dot View in stock Nougat? it keeps waking up. I think I recall I could disable it in settings Marshmallow? cant seem to do it in Nougat. Appreciate any advice.
Webview is needed for every app that has access to the internet, shows you data from the internet and isn't a browser (e.g. the play store). Therefore, it's always recommended to keep it up to date. On the one hand due to all the security fixes the updates contain and on the other hand due to all the bug fixes and compatibility fixes.
No, I'm using the European unbranded firmware and the latest venom rom which is based on the firmware I'm using. But there are more than enough reports about battery drain in that thread, too. The same applies to the Nougat OTA discussion thread in the General section. The strange thing is that no everyone is facing them even if those "lucky" users use the same firmware as those with the drain.
I can't help you with dot view since I have a dot view case and never tried to disable it on older firmware versions.

Battery drainage after upgrade to android nougat

Hello!
I didn't seem to find some threads on this matter so I started this one, if it's already discussed please move this question there.
After the nougat update the battery drainage increased very much and from 2 days it went down to 1 day battery life.
Is there any fix to this problem?
Build number is CAN-L11C432B350
Hmmm Not having this, but then again im not on that particular build of nougat. would be helpful if you gave screenshots of your battery useage

Anyone tried the update for R800 (wifi only)

So, I'm in the US. I'm showing an update. I'm on BRH3.
The update is BRJ4. Release notes say:
Improved usability and experience
Improved reliability of music play
Reliability of battery charging enhanced
Had anyone taken this update. I'm leaving town for the weekend and don't want to take it if it's going to screw my watch up. Thanks.

How Often Does the Mate 20X receive Updates?

How often does the 20x receive updates?
I just got the September security update. They've been releasing security updates about a month/month and a half behind the official release dates. This is the best I've seen from Huawei in a long time.
System updates are a mixed bag...or have been in the past.

Honestly, I haven't noticed any improvements that I can tell. I'm not a heavy, heavy user though. I usually end the day with 50% or more battery life left every day. I definitely haven't noticed and negative effects on my battery either. This has been the best overall experience I've had with Huawei.

General A528B (A52S 5g) September update available.....

The September update is available A528BXXU1CVH6 should be able to be downloaded from usual sources, samfrew, sammobile. Nice surprise so early in the month this time....

Early updates usually means not many changes at all. I'll skip this one.
exactly, only security update itself

Where to view the changelist i wonder
They usually just give a vague changelog anyway
The only CSC I've seen that has published it so far is ORX (Slovakia)

After this update I lost access to Orange Egypt Band 41. I feel now every update samsung is deliberately sabotaging the phone to reduce its performance. And the update before that they removed the band control app.
EDIT: I was able to get B41 back by resetting APN and turning on and off both SIMs but i don't know if that was a bug or intended or what, but I don't trust samsung anymore.
For me, battery life finally got to an acceptable level after this update. Could be it's not just a security update, but even those are good to have.

Coming from a Poco X3 NFC with a 5160 mAh battery, I expected the A52s' 4500 mAh battery to last at least a full 24hrs, but on some days I barely got over 14 hours, which was hugely disappointing. Right now I'm at 20hrs, just over 4 hours of screen time and 35% still left, which is much better than before - even acceptable.

I don't do a lot of heavy things on my phone, Last charge I got 2 days 9 hours out of it with 7.5 hours sot. And thats with the S21FE rom installed at the moment. Mostly things I do are tiktok, play poker, internet stuff, play a 3d snooker game also and other light games... listen to music, lots of chat with whatsapp, messenger, and keeping up on things in telegram. I have a lot of apps in the deep sleep mode also.
