Can anyone tell me which App is causing the toast error message, "Can't read phone state. Please launch the main app and grant the requested permission", in the screenshot below? Although I captured it in Titanium Backup, it occurs at random times in different Apps or even just on the home screen. Can't nail it down which App is causing it.
Resolved - It is from Toggle Data plugin for Tasker.

Hey guys,
I'm running a Lumia 800 with the 8107 OS so I thought the disappearing Keyboard issue should have been fixed. However sometimes, when I write a mail or message it happens that the Keyboard still vanishes. I was not able to reproduce the Problem in parts. Could you please try the following and tell me what happens:
1. Go to the Home Screen
2. Open either an app from the home Screen or from the programs list
3. As soon as the Programm Shows the loading Screen hit the search button
4. Tap on the search box and wait
5. The Keyboard should now dissapear after a few seconds
This works best with Applications that take some time to load, like Facebook or Board Express. Instead of opening the Search App you can go into every app that opens the keyboard. I also guess that Network related callbacks are responsible for the dissapearing keyboard. You can try the following as well:
1. Open the Facebook App
2. Wait for it to load and Display the recent items
3. Hit "..." and "Refresh"
4. Tap the Search Button and open the Keyboard
5. After a few seconds the Keyboard disappears.
It would be great if some of you guys could try to reproduce this problem.
Regards
Chris

The keyboard isn't disappearing in that case, the app is loading, and you're intentionally trying to type before it's fully loaded to get this behavior. The disappearing keyboard issue would occur MID SENTENCE while typing something as simple as a text after the message had already loaded. What you're doing is intentional and happens everywhere.

Well, this are only two Scenarios where the Keyboard dissapears. However sometimes while composing a longer message for instance, it goes away. And I don't think this behavior is intended. Imagine you're in an area with bad coverage and hit refresh. This refresh can take around 20 or 30 seconds so you decide to write a text. Halfway in the text, the Keyboard will disappear while you are writing. At least that occurs on my device.

I'm not sure what to tell you then. I know that the disappearing keyboard was solved for me. It's pretty much a given that on any device, because this used to happen to me on Android and WinMo, that refreshing incoming data will cause your typing indicator to disappear once the data has completely loaded. You can try this on Internet Explorer on your computer. It might be a hassle, but that occured before Mango's keyboard issue. As far as typing a long message, I've typed 10 page texts and haven't had the keyboard disappear once. When I had the disappearing keyboard, it would disappear every 3-4 words, sometimes quicker, and was quite annoying.
i think its not an internet related problem, it is caused by ram issues...if i play with angry birds with dehydration hack, then i switch to an incoming message and quickly reply, the keyboard disappears after 2 sec...lg o7, sorry for bad english..
Updated to 8107 last week and haven't seen the disappearing keyboard since. I call fail on this thread.
Haven't had any issues with disappearing keyboard since 8107, although it was frequent prior.
for some reason, it took two updates for my keyboard to stay. I did an update last week...and for whatever reason, i had another update last night, which appeared to be the same one I did earlier that week...don't know why.
but since, i've had no keyboard issues.
I second the one who said this thread is fail.
The method you gave is a way to force the page to refresh, so as soon as the page (or in this case the app or Bing search) loads with the keyboard, the background agents from the opened app causes the page you are in to refresh as well, thus the keyboard disappears.
The incident before, is when you are already typing a message for 10 seconds or so, then the keyboard will suddenly disappear for no apparent reason. In some occasions, it disappears again when you type on the message box as if the keyboard is doing a "double take" disappearing action = annoying.
That's exactly what I said. He's purposely trying to type while data/agents/pieces of the app are still loading or refreshing. Obviously the keyboard is going to disappear once its done. Go to a website on the phone, and start typing in a text box before it fully loads. Once it fully loads, it'll disappear. This is common knowledge and happens on every platform I've ever used...
Thanks for pointing up that this is intended. I thought it would be odd if an app in the Background could hide the Keyboard in a completely diffrent active app. But it seems as this behaviour is a Feature and not a bug.
I had a problem with Waze...so I uninstalled and then reinstalled it. When I open it up....it does the normal "Allow Waze to access this device's location?" So I select ALLOW and then I get this "Screen overlay detected" prompt. Says I have to first turn off the screen overlay from Settings> Apps OPEN SETTINGS ....so I hit the open settings and then it goes to the Draw over the other apps "Enabled list" of apps. I then scroll down to waze and it is already set to No...or off. I tap on Waze and then the draw over setting shows the toggle set to off....and also grayed out.
This happens with several apps......I have never had to deal with this "Draw over other apps" setting on any android device I have had yet to date. I had been using the Nexus 6 prior to the G4 and never had this problem with Overlay settings or the draw over apps thing. So I am perplexed at this....is this something that has come about more from Marshmallow?
Any help with getting some of my apps to get past this to start would be very appreciative...thanks!
bump....
Same problem here with a G3
I'm having the exact same issue with Waze on a G3.
I guess you have an app that is using overlays, like Lux Lite or the likes to setup brightness or color. Give that app the permission and your troubles should be over.

I've got the same problem. But I've set it to allow Twilight permission, and is still doing that endless loop with the greyed-out bit mentioned above.
I got it to work by turning overlay OFF for Twilight.. but then Twilight doesn't work. Why is this app even checking for overlays? Waze gets to be uninstalled for this treason.
So frustrated
I don't use Waze, but this same issue has rendered my G4 a nuisance rather than a useful tool. For example, I cannot add nor edit contacts because my contact list doesn't have permission to access my calendar (which shouldn't matter), but I cannot grant that permission because of screen overlay. I can't add anything to my calendar from my phone because of screen overlay. Custom ringtone... nope. Screen overlay. Essentially anything that involved editing, adding, or deleting of any kind is verboten because of this screen overlay nonsense.
I have tried turning off screen overlay to all apps that will allow me to, but some are grayed out and unable to be changed but they appear to be off. I can't even imagine what app I have installed that would use it so I can target it specifically and uninstall it altogether. Is there a fix for this other than turning it off for all apps? Maybe an app or bit of code that suppresses it?
Thank you in advance.
Recently I've had a problem running certain apps on my Gen 1 Zenwatch. When the app opens I get a message saying "Screen overlay detected...To change this permission you first have to turn off the screen overlay from Settings->Apps. There's a link to "Open Settings" which does nothing when I tap it.
Examples of apps that have this problem are Shazam (after I tap the tick on the "Allow Shazam to record audio?" prompt), and a voice recording app (after a similar prompt). So a common theme might be apps which require access to the mic?
My build number is M1D64F, and my phone is an LG G4 running Marshmallow. I've looked at the app settings on both watch and phone, and can't find anything related to screen overlays. If I open Settings...Permissions...Audio Recorder on the watch the microphone shows as DISABLED. If I tap on it I get the "Screen overlay detected...." message again.
Any ideas for how to fix this?
So far, the best answer I have found is to go to the Settings--> Apps --> Draw Over Screen (or something similar) and UNCHECK all of the boxes. Then launch your App and select the permissions it wants/needs from the dialog box. Then go back and recheck the Apps you'd like to be able to draw over other apps at will. A workaround, for sure, but it does work.

The solution was to uninstall the Wear Mini Launcher app. For some reason this was causing the problem. I've since heard that others have noticed this as well (i.e. the problem with Wear Mini Launcher)
I'm looking for an app that monitors and logs what happens, in real time; live; like the running services and processes in the application manager, on a behind the scenes level... kind of like a wakelock detector, but deeper and more sophisticated...
For example, my phone is always showing a notification randomly, "Finding Location" and "Location Found" and the notification remains stuck until I manually clear it, and it happens with no apps visibly running, and it will pop up again and again randomly. And on my girlfriends phone, with NO apps running, And the phone sitting on the table not being touched for hours, lockscreen STILL locked; her phone will start playing audio of sorts, like an Ad is playing or a youtube video, but when you unlock the phone there are NO visible apps running, no tabs are even open when you open the browser, nothing on the notification bar, this audio that plays is 100% completely invisible and hidden, and cannot be shut off without pulling the battery and rebooting the phone. This occurance has happened in a few occasions now.
So I am looking for an app that monitors what "hidden" actions are being executed and where they are coming from. It has to be from apps that are obviously running or waking in the background and using the parent apps "permissions" to trigger and allow access to my location via GPS. And on my girlfriends phone, something similar, somehow a background app that's hidden; is at minimal; using a "permission" to access my audio/speaker, and We'd like to track down the source of where this obscure audio is originating from so we can further investigate.
Is there some type of app that does this? Or is there a way to acomplish What I am trying to do? These are just two major examples to try to help illustrate what I mean.
Hi!
Try on Settings/Developer Options, scroll until the bottom and you should have something like "Inactive apps", there you should be able to see all active (and inactive) apps installed on the phone. Except the system apps...
There you can also switch from active to inactive, but if you open the app, or if the app becomes active by itself somehow, the status change.
But in those crazy situations like add-aware, probably you should try "Clean Master". The publicity is annoying but use to be effective. After the problem be solved you uninstall it.
I am experiencing an error when I lock only one app and it thinks I have locked three. I hit the Close All button to clear out all apps except for the ones I have locked open, but only one remains. After one app is locked the a notification appears at the bottom of the screen stating "3 apps kept open for quick launching" and the "Keep open for quick launching" option is grayed out.

Is there any place to find apps that I have locked open? Or maybe just unlock all apps and start over?

Since today I'm having the exact same issue on my Galaxy S10. In my case I think it happened because I already had 2 apps locked in One UI 2.1. After installing the new update for One UI 2.5, the 2 locked apps (WhatsApp and Instagram) disappeared from the Recent Apps list. I can re-lock WhatsApp and Instagram, or any other app for that matter, but when I want to lock a second app, it's grayed out. I've tried rebooting, shutdown for approx. 1 minute, cleaning cache and memory with several different apps, nothing seems to fix it. If a factory reset appears to be the only solution, I'll let it be for what it is now. It -is- annoying though.
(I have a non-rooted device, so my options are limited)

I just tried this with Instagram and Whatsapp, didn't work either. I even deleted the whole Instagram app (including leftovers) and re-installed the app. Still the option "Keep open for quick launching" is grayed out. Not only with the Instagram app, but with other apps too. The only app I have pinned at this very moment, is WhatsApp. If I unpin WhatsApp, it does let me pin another app, but just 1. The second app I want to pin, is then grayed out again. (I can make screenshots or a screenrecord if you'd like to get a better look at the problem)
