My remote's rechargeable battery is dead.
Does anyone have some tear down pictures of the remote or some guides on replacing the rechargeable battery?

If you have the 6.3 update and the 1.22 remote firmware, you should no longer need the 3 button reset as the underlying bug is now fixed.
Not for me. I get an used 2015 shield tv and my remote work only, when the charge cable was pluged in (accu was shown as full). All firmwares are up to date. I must do this 3 button reset and after that, the remote work without cable.
Interesting it has been a few months since the reset solution has been posted but I will try it. "Back, Home, Voice" for 3 seconds.
This has to be better than keeping it plugged into the USB cable or buying a new remote.

On ebay you can find a replacement battery, but it's sold out actually: https://www.ebay.fr/itm/353mAh-Genu...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649
According to a post on ifixit (https://fr.ifixit.com/Réponses/Afficher/427923/Nvidia+TV+Remote+Model+P2575+need+batter), a battery for Asus Zenwatch 1 may do the trick. The problem is that they are hard to find too.
On Amazon, I've found a battery that might be OK for the Shield TV remote: https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B0779YFYC2/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A1OWSBSLZ5XUYG&psc=1 as it's a generic for the Zenwatch 1.
I'll give a try and let you know if I managed to make it work.
Cheers
The 2017 remote works fine with the 2015 pro and so does the new remote.
Replacement remote is $30 from nvidia.
Just replace the thing
I couldn't find an original battery, so I used one of these batteries instead:

Dimensions wise it's a little bit less with than the original battery, it's 200mah, but the charge seems to last pretty long, and it charges fully quicker than the original - specs state a full charge from empty takes between 2-4hrs but it charges quicker that that.
I bought 5 batteries for £9, obviously I only need 1 but I can power some other projects with the extra's I have.

Here you go, it took about a week to arrive to UK. If you replace yours, desolder the old battery wires from the circuit board on the old battery - you can solder them to the new battery wires, that way you don't need to worry about the plug connector.

They look like they're available on ebay from HK, but I'm skeptical.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/3200mAH-Batte...3QQihZ019QQcategoryZ75446QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
I've bought from reputable sources from HK before, and never been ripped off, but obviously our electrical safety guys in this country won't have checked these units - who knows how reliable they are, if they exist?
Anyone bought similar?
Well, I just bought one. I really only wanted the external battery charger, but I guess I can always put one more battery into the rotation.
I suppose it will arrive within a couple of weeks.
Thanks for the link.

Welcome.
Now, do I buy now, or wait until yours arrives?
EDIT: With Push Email on all day, and with a bit of Bluetooth music use, the batter dies at 9pm. Time for an upgrade I think, feckit, it's only a £20 risk.
Looking at the pics of the charger it seems to me that you just stick your own external charger into it (or does that not look like a mini USB plug to amyone else?), so wiring standards shouldn't be a concern. Its pretty hard to make 6.5V dangerous no matter what you do to it, other than using it to detonate something I suppose.

I assume you purchased the exact same charger. Are you finding these undercharge results on the new battery it shipped with (and is it a high or normal capacity battery) or on your pre-existing battery? If it's on the pre-existing battery, is it the original one purchased with your device and were you also experiencing the issue where the device shuts down without warning when the battery level gets to around 25-35% (there's a few posts about this issue)?

Up until today, I used to have the exec as my main mp3 player - changed it today for the little nano here (my first ipod!) and am hoping the next video ipod comes with bluetooth...
Fair size difference.... hhehehhe....
Hey I have a Nano too, infact you can see it in the picture of my signature (It's got the sync cord attached to it in the background). I rarely use it, no A2DP lol. I've been wanting to buy a A2DP gateway for it but that would defeat the purpose of it's small size.

1000% AGREE !!!!!
Man, that makes the Artemis look ugly.
when you have business trips, you will change opinion.
This is a nice battery.
I am using it
I agree with what biou said, go on a longer trip where you have no access to electricity.
I bought a double capacity battery for my Ipaq rx3715 which already has one of the best battery life on the market. With the big battery I managed 40 hours continuous use with minimal settings, 20 with normal and 12 with heavy use like video or 8 with extra heavy use, so video + WLAN + big headphones.
When I watch videos my Artemis lasts about 8-10 hours but when I surf the web power drains so fast! I think it lasts for max. 3-4 hours with WLAN on.
I might buy one of these or I buy an emergency charger wit mini-USB. I still can't decide which one I want to use.
Where and whec is it going to be available? Shipping to eu?
I agree that it is ugly, but going on a hike in wood i would better have this fat one as a spare in case i got lost. Happened to me - first thing u notice when lost in wood is how fast gps battery starts to drain and that brings surge of adrenalin/panic.

I have a similar one to this which I use on my extended trips away from the office which also generate heavy phone use and often using a BT headset.
On the positive side it can last up to 3 times longer than the original battery without charge especially when using BT functions.
On the negative side however with the extended battery in use the PDA does not fit the desktop cradle or my GPS car holder.
In my opinion well worth having for those times away from an AC or car charge.
I want to buy one, but what battery is the best? I don't really trust all the cheap batterypacks on E-bay, do you guys have some experiences with a good battery?
Please help me pick one. Thanks
I bought mine from eBay and have not experienced any problems at all.
My battery is black in colour with white text. 2500mAh 3.7VDC and clearly marked for the DOPOD P800W so should be easy to identify on pics of the eBay listings.
My only word of caution is that the two top (closest to camera) plastic tabs on the battery cover are somewhat exposed and therefore fragile when removing the cover and can snap off from repeated swapping of extended battery back to standard battery.
My first cover tabs broke and I bought a second extended battery just to get a new cover when I snapped the tabs of the extended battery cover. Now I leave the extended battery on all the time.
I can do that because I located a different desktop cradle where I could cut some of the plastic away to accommodate my Artimas with the extended battery fitted. I also have replaced my OEM card holder with a universal style so I no longer have the issues which required me to swap back to the standard battery.
Extended battery is great and IMHO not too bulky despite the initial look in the photos.

No i have that 3200mAh battery. Its not the same size as the 1600 mAh battery. The 1800 mAh battery is the same size as the 1600 mAh battery if you are looking for an increased capacity at the same size.
The 4800 mAh battery is a bit larger than the 3200 mAh battery.
The 3200 mAh battery is amazing because it is 1.5V and does not die as fast as the 4800 mAh 1.2V. As you see 3200 mAh @ 1.5 > 4800 @ 1.2 Unless 4800 converts to 1.5.

Tabasco, could you share the price and origin of your battery please?
I use my universal with 4800mah battery like this on daily basis:
10-20 minutes talking
~30 mnutes on average for wifi, typing, M$ office, maybe some bluetooth transfer etc.
After first day battery metter is between 85% and 90%
Generaly it lasts 3 days if I talk and use wifi a lot, and the max that i saw was 7 days, but i diddnt use it too much... So i guess that it is pretty ok battery for the $$$
I use the lowest brightness to save power, not using 3g...
how long does it take for the 4800 batt to fully charge it hit 100% a lil while ago and the light is still orange, is that regular? and which is safer to use a usb charge from computer or the original wall charger?

Thanks, i think i'm getting a 3200mah one. my uni seems to be running out of juice in the middle of the day.
I was thinking about getting a back-up battery soon and I always had 3 1900 mah batteries for my iphones with an extension cable to plug in
I'm not sure what kind of battery i'm going to buy because of case's and screen protectors, I'd like to go with just replacement battery but if I have to take the case off all the time and maybe disturb the screen protector that wouldn't be good so I was thinking about doing the same as with my iphones with a cable

why not try anker astro, looks far more well made, if you look at both picture carefully, you may figure it out the anker one have a higher capacity but with, smaller size. i don't trust those cheap, made in china batteries. i have one of anker astro, see my attachment. already used 2 weeks, very handy. i take it long with me all the day.
What I don't understand is that until this day all the various sites told me tha the battery in the GN is 1750 mAh. But: http://www.google.com/nexus/#/tech-specs tells us that ther is a 1850 mAh battery in the GN.
Can I say cheers to the extra 100 mAh?

I thought I heard somewhere that the 1850 is the LTE version. Not sure why Google doesn't differentiate it like they do the other LTE-specific specs
Thanks! That would explain the difference.
I'd really like a large external battery with solar power. I bought one from eBay and it was terrible. Never charged my phone past 20%
Any suggestions? I dont care how much it costs, I just want the best, most powerful unit.
Monoprice has a 2800 mah battery for ~$15. Then find you a cable witg female micro usb and male micro usb on the other. Its not solar but a decent alternative.
I invented cyberspace. You're trespassing.

This is a review of Anker 2nd gen Astro Pro2 20000 mAh external battery. http://www.ianker.com/product/79AN7906-BA, and amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005NGLTZQ/
In case if you thought I took a break from reviewing external batteries - I didn't. I was looking for something new and original, not another cookie-cutter re-branded battery. Funny how everytime I start my journey to find a cool new original battery product with a great value, I always end up coming back to yet another new release from Anker. As I mentioned so many times in the past, this company is working very hard to stay at the top of the game with new products and ideas. They switched to environmentally safe carton packaging (no plastic what so ever), updated to 2nd gen with more efficient modules having 80% efficiency in comparison to every other external battery out there with only 65%-70% efficiency, and introduced 10-led capacity indicators with their 2nd gen Astro modules. So where do you go from there? - 2nd gen Astro Pro2 with a whooping 20000 mAh (that's 20k mAh) capacity.
As I mentioned above, the battery arrived in Anker's new standard all carton packaging which is environmentally safe and no-hassle to open. Being a super high capacity, don't expect a lightweight portable module. I have seen a lot of other cheap 20000 mAh batteries in the past, all in a lightweight small footprint. That would be the first red flag to claim a high capacity without a "weight" behind it Astro Pro2 is about 6.5" x 4.5" x 0.6" and weight of 488 g. It's not pocket friendly, but with included drawstring storage pouch and considering relatively slim profile - it would make a great travel companion in your briefcase or luggage. The case is very durable all metal with a brushed aluminum black finish which I found to be scratch resistant. Other accessories include usb to micro-usb cable, tablet charging cable (for Asus and Acer tablets with 5.5mm x 2.1mm jack), and AC outlet charging cable. With such high capacity charging this battery from usb charger will take a very long time, so the charging is done from 12V/2A wall charger where you can get full charge from zero in under 6 hours.
Once you start charging you will notice something that is extremely rare for external batteries - a back lit LCD display with actual % indicator number in 1% increments. There is no guessing with 4 leds or even 10 leds, you will know exactly the charging capacity and when using this battery - the exact remaining battery capacity. This capacity could be checked at any point by pushing multi-function button on the side of the battery. Also, when you hold this button down for 3sec, you will see a flashing 9V or 12V which can be selected with the same button. To accommodate some of the common Acer and Asus tablets with 5.5mm x 2.1mm jack, you can use included cable attached to DC Output port where you get 9V / 2A or 12V / 1.5A output. If you have some other tablet or camera or another gadget that require 9V or 12V voltage and uses a unique charging tip, you can get for $10 a collection of 28 different tips like these: http://www.amazon.com/Vktech-Universal-5-5x2-1mm-Adapter-Notebook/dp/B00CMMO6AE/
But the stars of this external battery are 3x smart usb outputs, each being able to supply up to 2.4A. When all ports are connected, you can't exceed the maximum 4.5A current, but still it's very impressive considering you could be charging 3 separate devices at high speed from such a high capacity source. Also, the charging starts automatically once you plug in the cable. 20000 mAh is obviously the max capacity of the internal battery, but as you know it's typically 3.7V which has to be converted to 5V usb interface where the efficiency of Astro Pro2 is only 80% of the actual capacity, 16000 mAh. This is VERY impressive because today most of the external batteries on the market have actual capacity which is only 2/3 of the max advertised one.
Overall, I found this battery to be of a VERY high quality with a tough attractive built, multi-port smart charging capability including flexibility of 9V/12V charging, 1% increment charge/capacity LCD indicator, and one of the best warranty coverages with 18-months of support. Considering all that and enormous capacity of 20000 mAh with 80% efficiency, the price of $79.99 is actually a bargain for such product.
Here are the pictures.

I knew these will be sold out, so I included Amazon link in the original review as well (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005NGLTZQ/). As you can see it's currently unavailable because they out of stock. Keep checking or just email them directly to find out when it's back in stock.
Is there any site or shop selling it to Europe? I can only find the first gen on Amazon UK.

Great review, like always!

Much thanks!
The only place I could find any reference to requiring other adaptors for the DC part. At least I know now.
I have a vzw note 3. I would like to buy a portable charger small enough to carry in my pocket and provide 1 full charge so probably need 5000 mah unit. I want safety, quality, and portability. I prefer something containing quality brand battery like Samsung or Panasonic/Sanyo and I don't want to worry about a power surge frying my phone. I prefer a product available from a USA dealer.
Suggestions?

This is 2+ year old product, and wasn't even an original Anker design, if I'm not mistaken. Most of their stuff in the last 1-2 years has been original. But either way, Pro 2 has 1200 reviews on Amazon with 91% 4-5 Star reviews, and another 4% of 3-stars just have critical comments about performance.
I can tell you with certainty since I review a lot of products from many different manufacturers - most of the 1-2 star reviews are fake and written by competitors.
