[Q] Optimal dpi/resolution for apps - Google Pixel 2 XL Questions & Answers

Hi,
Today I noticed that on some apps the navigation bars disapears like it should in immersive apps. However there is still a black bar where the navigation bar should be. Examples of these apps are retroarch and Drastic for example.
I wonder if anyone changed there resolution and dpi through adb in order to fix this ?

white bar above app transitions

when I switch to certain apps there is a white bar above the transitions. I have a screenshot attached to demonstrate the issue- Im on liquid smooth 2.5 and this problem occurs with maps, music, and play store. However when I enter desktop mode (fullscreen without statusbar and nav bar), the problem disappears- the white bar is gone.
Solutions?
can somebody provide me gapps link if thats the issue? because I've had this problem before on a different rom/gapps, but it occurred with the "messaging" app only.
Thanks

[XS][JB] Camera buttons hidden behind navigation bar

Hey guys,
I've enabled the navigation bar on my Xperia S' official Jelly Bean rom because I hate those stupid touch buttons at the bottom. Everything works fine so far with the stock navigation bar and all apps are resized correctly to fit the smaller screen (due to the bar). Except the camera app, which still thinks that there is more space than there really is. So the record, take photo and gallery shortcut buttons are partly hidden behind the navigation bar.
Is there any solution for this? I had always enabled the navigation bar and in ICS everything was fine..
Regards

Transparent notifications & launchers

Hiya.
I wanted to ask whether there is an option in the Settings or an update of Nexus 7 that makes the notifications bar on top and the three buttons on the bottom of the screen transparent? Or the ability to "autohide" the buttons underneath similar to the G2 and the Xperia phones?
What good launcher can you guys recommend for the Nexus 7 so as when in landscape i can make full "use" of the 7-inch screen? (especially when watching movies of playing games?
Please advice. Thank you.
Auto hide of the Navigation bar and status bar is not a new thing in android, any decent player like BSPlayer has an auto hide option for this bars , also as far as gaming there is immersion mode in Kitkat that apps and games can use if the developers enables so .. and transparent nav bar and status bar are part of the Now launcher, and i think Nova and Apex should support it also.

I did not know the autohide feature for Android has been around for a while. I was only aware of the current 4.4.2 OS of my Xperia Z1 (and i believe the LG G2 as well) that enables autohide of the nav bars on the bottom and notifications on top but not that of the Nexus 7. All the videos i have seen on Youtube all shows the black bars still there.
As regards the launchers you mentioned will it be a matter of swiping it from above and at the bottom to access the buttons is that correct?
Some apps have built in immersive mode and then they can hide navigation bar with/without status bar. Or you can turn on immersive mode manually whenever you want with this app (no root required):

Height of Navigation Bar

Does anybody know if there is any way to decrease the height of the navigation bar for the S9? (or even to color it black instead of it's usual auto color scheme)
S8 users used an apk for overlay in the past, but Oreo does not support overlays so that possibility seems to be gone...
Try this one for changing your nav bar color: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.damianpiwowarski.navbarapps&rdid=pl.damianpiwowarski.navbarapps
The navigation bar is adjustable with dpi setting in developer settings.

White Nav Bar in apps where dark theme chosen?

Am I missing something here? I have various apps installed, such as Fenix, where I am using a darker theme yet the LG Nav bar is still showing as a light colour. I know that in the settings you can change the colour of the Nav Bar but there is no option there to have a dark nav bar to better fit with the apps. Looks silly.
Can't say i am that impressed with this phone as yet although it is early days, some very slow re-loading of apps sometimes, especially InBox email app even though I have asked that awful LG Smart Doctor app to not kill it...grrr...
Any tips/assistance gratefully received
Use nacho notch. It now has the option to keep the navbar dark.
Or get Navbar Apps, which allows you to set automatic or custom colours for any application

I found nacho notch to work more constantly vs navbar apps.
