You must be on lollipop. You have to be on the kitkat bootloader to run custom recovery/roms.
Do not try to replace kingroot with supersu. That has been reported to brick this tablet.
Since you seem to be on rooted lollipop, the only guy left who seems to be interested in maintaining LOS for the V400/410 has said he'd like to get the LP blobs. A system dump would be helpful, if you'd be willing to pull it and share it. This should pull it:
Code:
su
dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/system of=/sdcard/system.img
People have successfully downgraded the V410 from lollipop to kitkat using the kdz for the V411. There is a test kdz for the V410 too, but it makes a mess of the internal storage and has some other issues. I wouldn't recommend the V410 kdz since we have a better alternative.
Once you're on stock kitkat, you can root it with purpledrake. Then use flashify to flash TWRP and flash away.

I used to have my G3 rooted I was running the liquidsmooth rom on it. Then a few days ago I somehow managed to boot into fastboot mode and didn't know how to get out. I was able to get into twrp recovery but the phone would only boot into fastboot mode. Of course, I just decided to try something and cleared all the data from my phone and re flash liquidsmooth. It took me out of fastboot mode and put me into a bootloop.
I then used the LG Flash Tool to restore my phone to stock and it Worked! It sent my phone back to kitkat though so i updated my phone to Android Lollipop and tried to run avicohh's one-click root script again but it didn't work!
I then re-restored my phone to kitkat and tried again and it rooted just fine. :good: Then I updated my phone to Android L and of course, my root disappered. I tried to root again on 5.0.1 and the same thing happens.
( I attached an image of the command prompt). It says "Done" but I know it isn't. The prompt should be waaaay longer than that. When it worked on kitkat, there was more text there.
Tlr
My phone will not root on 5.0.1... Any ideas? I tried purpledrake and got the same issue.
I will provide more information if prompted to.
Thank You for any help you can provide.

How to root LG G3 D851 with MM 6.0
Why can't work on mine
How to root LG G3 D851 with MM 6.0 or install TWRP or Install Custom Rom like MIUI 8
hi,
you can downgrade your phone to D85130d by flashing a KDZ file
you can use the one from this topic :http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...ck-d851-30d-kdz-flashable-zips-imgs-t3367371;
then you can temporary-root it using Kingoroot , while on temp-root, flash TWRP using Flashify (available on Play store)
then flash SuperSu using TWRP and you're on full root.
this way worked for me.

Hello, autorec for g3 exists only for 5.0.x
however the right way would be:
1. download twrp manager from playstore
2. flash twrp using twrp manager
OR
1. download flashify from playstore
2. download twrp foe d850, extract the zip
3. inside the extracted files there is recovery.img, flash it using flashify
use quickboot to reboot to recovery
note that these ways are only for 4.4.2
you´re welcome, there will be new users who also aren´t familiar with the procedure and you can point them to the right direction, too.
Cheers

I rooted my LG G Pad 8.3 (V500) and I installed the AOSP 6.0.1 (MOB30J). It works fine, but for some reasons (?), I lost the root. Does someone know how to re-root the G Pad 8.3, already on Marshmallow 6.0.1 ? The root guides for Android 4.4 do not work and I do not find a guide for the 6.0 version. Thanks for your help.
Hi, you flash SuperSU 2.52 in recovery to root your Device? If still not have SuperSu after boot, you install it from playstore. It's will OK.

Hi. Many thanks for your answer. I have SuperSu, but it tells me that:
1- I have no binary installed
2- if I made an update to Android 5.0 (in my case, it's 6.0), I have to re-root my device manually.
As @hptnhan says, if you flash the latest SuperSU.zip from custom recovery then you should be set.

Restore to a 100% stock unrooted ROM using a KDZ or TOT made for your variant (V500). Flashing a TOT or flashing a KDZ with the CSE option will wipe everything including internal storage. If you flash the same version of the stock ROM that you were previously successfully running, you could try flashing a KDZ with the Normal option which won't wipe Data. If the tablet won't finish booting after that, try wiping Cache or a Factory Reset which will be the same as flashing the KDZ with the CSE option.
Thanks for your help. I was able to flash the stock rom. I installed ASOP 6.01 again and i lost root again. How do I gain root again on ASOP 6.01? Flashing the supersu.zip doesnt work for me. Is there another way to regain root on ASOP 6.01? Thank you.
I will ask the same question: How do i root my LG G Pad 8.3, running Android 6.0.1?
I've tried SuperSU 2.52, but got stuck on the secure boot error.
Bump bump...

AOSP or CM 13? I haven't fooled with CM for any device in over a year but last I checked it includes it's own SuperUser app that you could enable. It might've been in the Developer Options section of Settings. You could also optionally try flashing an old version of SuperSU that's not Marshmallow-aware such as v2.46 or 2.5x (I think 2.5x was still not Marshmallow aware). Don't blame me for bricks though.
When I had tried CM 12.1 (for a different device, I don't have what you have) you could opt for flashing SuperSU.zip instead of enabling the built-in SuperUser app. I don't know if that's still an option under CM 13.
Sounds like you fellas are running wrong base ^^ (original firmware that V500 came with?)
Could be wrong as I've been out of the game a while o_0
Try a new base and then root, recovery and custom ROM it.
So I was able to successfully root Lollipop using the one click tool. Now I am confused how to get TWRP in Lollipop. The autorec tool is dead and doesn't work anymore even with APKs found online. How do I flash TWRP? I tried using Flashify and the latest D852 3.0.2 TWRP image and it ended up bricking my recovery and forcing me to go back to KitKat firmware to fix it. What should I do? I want to install Fulmics MM ROM but I need TWRP on Lollipop firmware first.
Please help.
install via adb

You can fin a working autorec in the download section:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/canadian-d852-stock-bumped-rooted-rom-t3056843
It says mm on the filename but worked with lolipop... at least for me.

Hello,
I have a similar situation. I bricked my recovery and now I'm stuck with Lollipop and no custom recovery.
How did you go down to KitKat? Which file did you use?
I am with Fido and need all the help I could get to be able to restore my phone.
Thank you,
Hi, I can't seem to find a TWRP version specifically for the LG G3 Virgin Mobile model LG-D852 (FCC ID: ZNFD850). Which recovery image should I use? I've flashed the Bell TWRP image but when trying to boot to recovery I get an error. Phone boots normally otherwise.
Is this model somehow incompatible for some reason?
If so, is there another way to get LineageOS on the LG G3 Virgin Mobile D852 (perhaps through Download Mode)?
Is the hardware actually D852, or is it a D850 according to the FCC ID ZNFD850 and other markings on the phone which say "D850 0821", and under the battery which is etched "D850"? The mainboard also says "EAX65784001_1.0_D850_MAIN (2)"
(Edit) I have read that it is indeed a D852 even with the D850 markings, but still can't seem to boot to TWRP with the D852 IMG flashed (method is via adb su, dd if=/sdcard/twrp.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery)
maybe you haven't bumped the recovery
try this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/recovery-unofficial-multirom-twrp-artx-t3657524
I also use the d852 roger, and this worked fine
Thanks for the reply! I did go here: http://downloads.codefi.re/thecubed/lg_g3/bump/
I downloaded twrp-2.8.0.0_d852-signed.img, zeroed out the recovery and then flashed the image, and still get this error (Boot Verification Fail!!) when I try entering recovery:
https://imgur.com/a/MyIbx
I will try the image from your link
(edit) I tried the image from your link (TWRP_Artx-v1_d852.IMG), same issue, boot verification fail.
Do I also need to factory reset the phone after flashing TWRP to get recovery to boot properly? Does it matter at all that I'm using Marshmallow?
Using Marshmallow does matter since all TWRP for LG G3 can only be flashed to a Kitkat bootloader. You can use the AutoRec app to downgrade your bootloader to Kitkat, but the link for d852 marshmallow seems dead (here is the link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/apk-flash-twrp-autorec-thanks-to-t3081396). If you can find and install the app, then you can use it to install TWRP normally. Otherwise you have to downgrade to Kitkat to install TWRP. Strongly suggest you use the TWRP artx , it does not make the phone hot like the official, also have faster backup speed.
Thanks, I've been hunting for this file (wli.arecmm852 apk) for 5 hours now and still no luck, I will keep searching. It is probably my only hope, as a downgrade to lollipop seems unlikely, I can't find a kdz/tot that will flash with the Virgin Mobile D852.
I've tried flashing the bell D852 Lollipop recovery image to downgrade but it always fails. I have the right DLL installed and have tried the LG Flash Tool as well as the LG Update tool.
I am currently going to try to PM @Dene_Bluesman to try and see if they still have the AutoRec Marshmallow apk.
Solved!!
Autorec for MM D852 has been tracked down: https://mega.nz/#F!rtI1naZT!LJIKUVpv8fYjrvhpykA4_A!2o433RBZ
And works: https://imgur.com/a/s7KwB
Thanks, @Dene_Bluesman and @bender_007 and @Never_Sm1le !
I thought I was out of luck, but finally found it. I hope this will help others who are having trouble with their Virgin Mobile D852.
Steps I did to flash TWRP:
1. Installed KingRoot, which rooted my phone.
2. Installed AutoRec MM D852, ran it, and followed onscreen directions.
That's it! Now onto Lineage OS.
Thanks again all!
And in case anyone needs it, D855 Autorec Marshmallow: http://turbobit.net/fg6nmu0ujhpo.html
