Hi there,
I'm not really happy with LOS15.1 on my Pixel C and want to go back to stock Google ROM. I already downloaded the factory Image. What about relocking the bootloader and removing TWRP?
Are there any instructions on in what sequence I have to do what?
thx,
bigtreiber

Hello everyone,
I seek help as i have tried few things already and browsed the forums quite few times but couldn't get what I was looking for.
I have rooted, unlocked bootloader and flashed a custom rom to my OP3 using the toolkit i found to this forum. I didn't like the custom rom for various reasons and wanted to go back to 100% stock as i was before doing all these. With the same toolkit i managed to unroot, install back the stock recover and flashed stock 3.2.6..
My bootloader though remains unlocked, i also get that frustrating message on bootscreen, and i can not install ota update 3.2.7 as it always fails.
Is there anyway to go back to the state i was originally without loosing all my data, i have already wiped and reinstalled everything couple of times until now and is very frustrating i admit, that's why i want to desperately avoid it.
Thank you in advance community! [emoji5]

Install stock recovery, stock os.
Then 'fastboot oem unlock 'maybe?
I just used the mega unbrick guide and followed the second option. For me.. Stock is great.

You can lock your bootloader by fastboot oem lock however it wil erase all the data on your phone. There is no way to lock bootloader without resetting your phone.
Hey guys!
First off: sorry if I simply cant search but I cant find an "oficial" guide on this anywhere.
I would like to go back to the latest OxygenOS version pre-nougat (3.8.2 from the top of my head) but I dont expect it to be just a simple flash from TWRP and I was wondering how I would go about downgrading.
Im rooted (with magisk) and I have the latest version of TWRP. Preferably, I'd like to go about it without data loss but if thats impossible so be it.
I'm downgrading because I just love my Xposed too much to drop it.
Thanks for any help you can provide!

I flashed it via recovery and I had problems, probably because the partitions. I recommend you to make a backup and flash it via QPST, this is what I did and It works perfect.
Flash 3.2.8 and after that do a factory reset. It will not work without factory reset.

Is it actually that simple? Have you tried it and it didn't cause any issues?

Well since you where on 4.0 you prob where on F2fs aswell, 3.2.8 doesn't support F2fs that's why you do a factory reset, downgrading and upgrading is no problem as long as you do a factory reset and most importantly install the full rom.

What I did (with an unlocked bootloader):
Titanium backup all apps and call logs/texts/wifi via XML.
Reformat data to ext4 via TWRP.
Flash TWRP 3.0.4-1 as image.
Flash ob7 within TWRP.
Reflashed TWRP (why not?)
Booted and factory reset.
Flash SuperSU.
Restored user apps and texts calls etc via tibu.
Worked flawlessly.
Just flash OxygenOS marshmallow version ( you can download from oneplus official website, support section), then do a factory reset. Hope its helpful to you.

+1 on this. I downgraded from 4.0.3 to 3.2.8 with a simple ADB sideload. Download the ROM from the support site, then just adb sideload <name of zip>.zip. Done.
I was back on Marshmallow and had no issues. Then again, I wasn't running TWRP, everything was Stock.
@WhaleTrain when you said you sideloaded the rom and that everything was stock, was your bootloader locked or does it need to be unlocked to do it? can I simply boot into stock recovery and sideload?
Thanks
Hi,
I already searched a lot but I'm not confident with the tools that I found. What is the correct way to return to stock android when I have Lineage OS installed?
Thanks a lot!
The most secure way is flashing factory image. You have to unlock bootloader to do it.

I already have unlocked the bootloader to install lineage OS, right? I have TWRP.
The factory image would be the stock android, since it's a nexus, right?
Should I use TWRP to install stock android image? Will TWRP stay installed? I would like to remove TWRP and return to the factory state, only android.
Thanks.

Yes, yes.
No, use fastboot. No, stock recovery is installed.
It will be stock Android.

Thanks a lot for you help! It's done!
I recently factory reset my phone through TWRP because I wanted to receive the May OTA update through Google. However, I realized that the remnants of adjusting my DNS settings are still present and I still cannot receive the update.
For that reason I was looking for suggestions as to how I can revert my phone to stock without having to lock my bootloader or delete my recovery. Thank you in advance.
(sigh)
Stock recovery is needed for ota updates.

Just download the may image from google and flash it but edit ,, - w ,, to keep your data the you can install TWRP again and roo t or whatever. Search in pixel guide - How to flash image and keep data.
Are there any differences between these two methods? Just wondering because I want to clean install my Pixel 3. Do I have to unlock my Bootloader in order to flash a stock image?

Yes, you'll need to unlock the bootloader, which will wipe your phone, if you want to install factory images going forward. They are essentially the same firmware, however, an OTA through the settings menu will not wipe your device, whereas fastbooting a factor image will. Unless you know the work around that is
If you want to manually flash anything you have to unlock the bootloader.
Clean install with -w wipes the phone.
Dirty install without -w installs over the partitions retaining settings.
I dont do a dirty install often but I have never had an issue with Google images doing so.
Custom ROMS all day long dirty install cause problems.
I wouldnt recommend Dirty installs when a version upgrade occurs.
You don't have to unlock to flash a Google API, only a custom firmware. Unlock is only needed to flash the boot/bootloader image. I'm locked and can flash all but the latter.
