Gallery keeps crashing after update open beta 6 - OnePlus 5T Questions & Answers

I have recently upgraded to open beta 6 with a clean install from beta 5. Wiped. The gallery worked fine at first as far as I know. But now it's directly crashing on opening. Another open 6 version was released today and I thought this one would fix the issue but not.
Cleaned cash and data already and also tried to disable and re-enable. No luck so far.
Running with magisk 16.3.
Anyone with the same problem? I don't feel like wiping it again just for a broken gallery app but I do want to get it working again.

I don't have the problem but it could be a corrupt image file.
To eliminate this possibility put an empty file called
Code:
.nomedia
In the root directory of your internal ("SD Card") storage. Clear Gallery app data and cache again and then open the Gallery. No images should load. If the Gallery app works again then you know you need to hunt down the corrupt file (you can do this by moving that .nomedia file around to different folders or even create more of them). If this trick doesn't work then sorry I have no further suggestions (don't forget to delete the .nomedia file).

I had the same issue and the @djmcnz method didn't work for me. I fixed it by doing everything @djmcnz did (.nomedia and deleting app cache and data), going to the Google Play store and uninstalling updates from Gallery app and than updating it back.

[Q] Moving apps into system ROM

In another thread, some instructions were posted for moving apps from internal memory to the system rom. I followed the instructions, but I think I'm missing something because I'm just getting force closes. I've copied the apk files to the SD card, uninstalled the app, changed the permissions, then rebooted. I used Adobe Reader and Google+ since I don't use them often, and wanted to try something that wouldn't matter too much if I goofed it up. Since I was getting the force closes, I thought I had to install them (long press on apk file and click install). Well, that defeated the purpose because it installed them to internal memory. So was I supposed to do something else, or did I miss a step? And now I've got some stray files on the internal memories, since that has now shrunk. I was able to "uninstall updates" to Google+ and get rid of most of it, but I don't see where to uninstall them so I can start over.
I'm using the free Root Browser instead of Root Manager, don't know if this has anything to do with it or not.
Copy the apk into /system/app, change the permissions and then reboot. If you still get force closes, wipe dalvik and cache in recovery.
Thanks, it seems to be working. Doesn't seem like it's saving any space though. It must still be installing part of the app, or some data, on internal memory. (And yes, I'm uninstalling the apps before moving them.)

[Q] whatsapp picture (and Picasa)

So I recently got my GNex, and I've rooted it and put a new ROM on it (AOKP).
Everything runs smoothly, except for this:
when I try and send a picture to whatsapp messenger through the gallery (or directly within the app) i get an error that says "preview of image failed, please try again"
I get an error when I try and upload a picture to picasa as well (though I don't care so much about that one, as I don't use picasa as often as I do whatsapp).
I can share a picture from the gallery via sms without a problem (I use handcent, is there a better one for ICS?) so I don't think it's the gallery so much..
I'm using the GApps that comes within AOKP from ROM Manager (it's Milestone 4).
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Had this happen to me too. It was a "corrupt" folder or something like that, no idea what caused it. Try deleting the whatsapp folder on your sd card. If you can't delete the folder, you have the same problem. I was only able to delete the folder in the recovery via adb. But after deleting the folder everything went back to normal.

I tried deleting the folder, I could do that with no problem. I uninstalled Whatsapp, then deleted the folder, reinstalled it. Still have the same problem...it's weird.

[Q] Stock Gallery, no thumbnails

Anyone had a problem where you're unable to view pictures on the stock gallery app? The thumbnails are blank, and when clicking on them a message saying "no thumbnails" is displayed, and the picture does not show. I can view pictures using a file manager, and Cool 3D gallery app.
This is on AOKP M5. I been using AOKP M5 and switching back and forth from the nightlies and M5. The only difference I've done this time is I deleted all the data on the SD card before flashing M5. The reason for me deleting is I noticed some app data was still left behind.
Anyone know how to fix this?
I haven't seen this problem on my Nexus but on my old phone if I deleted the .thumbnails folder in DCIM & restarted the phone the thumbnails were rebuilt.

Forgot to mention, I've already tried that. I also tried wiping cache and dalvik. I also transfered my Wallpaper folder from my computer to my phone, and the stock gallery does not display those pictures either.
i am having this same problem so i thought i'd just post here instead of making a new thread. i just posted this reply in another thread but i'm going to bump this one too since there are people having this problem and i don't think any of us have found a solution yet.
i was on AOKP M5 since it was released and the day CM9 RC1 came out i wiped data and flashed it. this is when i saw the problem. everything worked fine in AOKP M5.
i wasn't reallse happy with CM9 so i wiped data again and flashed liquidsmooth 1.5 and while i am enjoying it i am having this similar problem with the gallery. i have searched and searched and have found no solution for this bug.
when i go to gallery all the thumbnails are gray. when i click on a folder the thumbnails are still gray and when i click on a picture it says "no thumbnail." i wiped gallery in titanium backup and no dice. i also uninstalled and reinstalled the app through titanium backup. no dice once again so i just wiped data and did another fresh install of liquid and i am still having the problem.
i am able to take pictures and view them in quickpic but not in the gallery. i downloaded the es file explorer showed hidden files and deleted the .thumbnail folder (it was already empty) in the DCIM folder. the gallery repopulated but the thumbnails were still gray. for now i am using the quickpic app for my gallery since it is able to show thumbnails.
i just installed this liquid 1.5 on my friend's GN and the first thing i did was take some pics so i could view them in his gallery and he doesn't seem to have the bug. everything works as it should. is this bug just random or was it because his phone just had his bootloader unlocked and was "fresh" for the new rom being installed? in CWM i wiped data/factory reset so i didn't dirty flash. whatever the case i hope this is fixed in the JB version of roms. i really don't want to flash a factory image and start all over.
if anyone has a solution or an idea on how i might try and fix it PLEASE post it. thank you so much.
No Picasa Images are displayed under Gallery
Hi,
I am on stock ICS 4.0.4(reverted from JB by applying stock images from google).
I have synced all my google data with my device. But whenever I open the stock Gallery app, I can see a thumbnail preview of all my Camera photos properly. The gallery even lists all of my Picasa albums correctly but no thumbnail preview is shown. If I enter into any of these album no preview is displayed.
Some resolutions i tried:
1. I have cleared cache, cleared data and force stopped gallery and then again started as that was advised in some threads
2. I even removed ".Thumbnail" directory and restarted but no luck.
3. I have downloaded "Just Pictures" app and it properly displays my Picasa albums along with the thumbnail preview.
But I love my stock gallery.(Please do not suggest Quickpic alternative).
Attached is the screenshot of my gallery app.
Any advice?

Instead of re flashing the entire FW can I uninstall and install the only the gallery app? If so could you please let me know where can I get that apk?
At present not in a position to re install ROM and fiddle with the set up I have in my GNex!

[Q] Delete SystemUI data

SystemUI keeps crashing when it tries to restart, making my phone completely unusable. I'm not able to flash another ROM at the moment so what I'd like to try is deleting the app data for SystemUI (wiping cache and dalvik didn't work). I have Team Win Recovery so I'm able to access the filesystem to delete files.
Can anyone suggest which file(s) I should look for?

I want to keep my most recent files. I took some photos today and they didn't get a chance to instant upload. I can wait a few days until I get to a computer I can use ADB on to push a ROM.
Sounds like you don't need a working device.

Use adb to remove /data/data/com.android.systemui/ folder
Hey guys! Big news!
I've fixed the problem, well.. sort of.
I will edit the post If I had something else to test.
1. Uninstalled Android System Webview and installed the one that is present in the Play Store (I can't select it for Webview Implementation though)
2. Launched YouTube app and showed a green screen no matter what the quality is.
3. Tried Chrome and the video works well without any freezes.

Updated from 9 to Q Beta 3. Solid Explorer Issue

Updated last night from the latest Pie to Q Beta 3. I use Solid Explorer quite a bit. Upon opening it today, it appears to not view the file system. Google Files shows internal storage with no issue. I have cleared cache and data. Verified permissions on storage. The only thing it will display is a folder called Android inside is data, media, obb. Data and media show Solid Explorer items and the obb is the normal directories.
Has anyone had any issue similar to this?

Thank you! That worked for me too
Many apps are not working after updating to beta 3 update
Too many bugs, i guess thats the point of it being a beta?
I keep trying the beta, and after a couple of days going back to Pie. The beta is a bit laggy, occasional lockups, thirstier battery, and just overall not as smooth.
I have solid explorer as well. Every time i uninstall and re-install solid it works but after a few hours it breaks again.
Same issue with MiXplorer
I am still using ES, trying to make the switch to Solid or another file app. The ES just has too many features that I use, and I like the way it works, despite that no one else likes it and it was banned from the play store.
