LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
This thread is for Official LineageOS 14.1 builds for geminipda. The following will not be supported here:
Custom kernels
Mods
Xposed
I don't support Xposed and any logcat which includes a Xposed module will be ignored. You're kindly invited to not report bugs if you:
Flashed a custom kernel
Installed or did mods from any source other then this thread
Modified system files
First time flashing LineageOS 14.1 on your device, or coming from another ROM?
Download the zip(s)
Install a compatible Recovery (If you installed twrp early on you may need to reinstall it due to the device name changing)
Wipe data/factory reset
Flash LineageOS
Install the Google Apps addon package (Optional)
Reboot

[ROM][7.1.2][UNOFFICIAL] LineageOS 14.1 - Geminipda, ROM for the Planet Gemini PDA
Contributors

ROM OS Version: 7.x Nougat
ROM Kernel: Linux 3.x
Version Information
Status: Alpha
Created 2018-03-30
Last Updated 2018-03-30
What's working:
Wifi
Bluetooth
Audio
Video
Sensors
Basic battery led on the back
Assistant button (Can be configured to do anything)
Keyboard (All Fn keys as well)
Gemini apps are included
Planet app bar is working (Activates by pressing planet button)
Caps lock LED
3rd party camera apps
Right/Left Navbar
Encryption
What's broken:
GPS (Pure, if you have wifi enabled it will locate you properly just won't work when disconnected)
Built in camera (3rd party camera apps work)
FM Radio
RIL (Calling, SMS, Data)
Caps Lock LED doesn't turn off when you close the lid
Changelog:
4/3/18
Fixed Camera (Currently the built-in cameras aren't working, but if you install from the Playstore or a 3rd party one it will work)
Fixed Left/Right nav bar (Moved the default back to the right like stock)
Removed Torch and Autofocus camera features
Updated Gemini keyboard to 1.0.14 (Fixes german keyboard and other misc fixes)
Fixed ESC and all Fn Functions
3/30/18
Initial release
I have included a gesture navigation system ported from CarbonRom, you will need to flash one of the following zips to disable the NavBar fully so you can get your screen back to use it fully.
Disable NavBar
Enable NavBar
Settings > Gestures > Carbon Gestures is where the configuration for it is
Pictures:
Thank you very much. I am just downloading. I had modified the stock installation with magisk and a module to remove the navbar.
But a lineageOS is much better for me, because no gapps.
edit: flashed it. Had a little problem that early birds may have too. I got an error 7 (device name property: gemini) because I had the first released twrp version as recovery. After flashing the up to date twrp-3.2.1 recovery, the device name was 'geminipda' and flashing works fine.
edit2: I'm using a german hw keyboard layout. The gemini keyboard driver version 1.0.7 comes with the image. Fn keys not working for me with this driver. Planet Computers released a new keyboard driver (1.0.12) that works for me in stock image. I had to root the lineageos first to be able to uninstall the old version (key signing conflict on install). After installing the new version the keyboard is working like it should, have all Fn keys now. Maybe you can integrate the newer keyboard driver into next image. Information on Planet Computers and the driver on Google Play.
There is a new build in OP
Fixed Camera (Currently the built-in cameras aren't working, but if you install from the Playstore or a 3rd party one it will work)
Fixed Left/Right nav bar (Moved the default back to the right like stock)
Removed Torch and Autofocus camera features
Updated Gemini keyboard to 1.0.14 (Fixes german keyboard and other misc fixes)
Fixed ESC and all Fn Functions
Encryption works now
Bugs left:
GPS (Pure, if you have wifi enabled it will locate you properly just won't work when disconnected)
Built in camera (3rd party camera apps work)
FM Radio
For me, GPS seems to be working, but phone/SIM functions (voice/SMS/cellular data) are still not working in new build. Otherwise great!
Working great so far. Very stable and quick development. Glad I can help test
Can't wait for first 'stable' build (it's actually very stable already..)!

Is there anything special that has to be done to get the Function Keys working? I do have version 1.0.14 of the Gemini Keyboard from the ROM, but still cannot use Fn+[Key] to get to symbols.
Does this have support for micro g? Is there a github page that has all the files?
I'm considering going the option of Lineage so I can remap keyboard combinations.
Has anyone done this already or have a recommendation other than Xposed + Xposed Additions? I know it's not supported with this ROM but I don't know of other options. The stock Gemini Keyboard is all sorts of messed up regarding function keys and each one matching up with printed symbols. There desperately needs to be a combo for rotating screen, IMO.
Does the function keys work at all on Lineage?

I am also interested in the very same. I'm trying to get my emacs config working well on my phone, and although the software works through termux (which one can get without needing gapps) a lot of the keybinds on the device are screwed up. I don't mind scripting the individual actions through tasker for volume and brightness etc, but I really want a fully reconfigurable keyboard + voice assist button. I would like to work on this project, but I have no idea how to get involved.
Is that image supposed to work nicely with the debian image? If I understand it correctly, modem and GPU depend on pieces on the android partition (see the mobile section under https://github.com/gemian/gemini-keyboard-apps/wiki/DebianTP )
Is there any progress on this like making calls rill etc thanks.
Is that image still maintained? There has been no activity on this thread for a while...
Yes, I would be interested in that too. Also, how does ti work with updates? Do they need to be customized for Gemini or would we get them from upstream automatically? And what about uppgrade to 15.1 - that would depend on porting the stock Android firmware from Planet?
Could you maybe add this to the rom?
https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/185113/force-tablet-ui-on-a-non-tablet-device <- "For ROM makers"
This would force tablet ui to use on any app/dpi scale
Any progress on the voice/calling/cellular data?
Sad to see this thread has gone cold. It's quite an interesting piece of kit to play around with, particularly when it comes to custom ROMs. Who knows what we have in store for the recently funded Cosmo PDA.
Yeah. I just got my gemini PDA today and wanted to flash Lineage, but now that I see the ROM doesn't even have working phone functions I'm a little bit disappointed (not that I actually expect anything, I'm really thankful for any dev who spends their time on this).
Even other rare device eventually got a few fully working ROMs.
I'm still running stock rom + debian and honestly not using the gemini much due to several disappointments with the software support and some parts of the hardware design. I booted it up to use while my oneplus 3 charges and thought I'd check iin on LineageOS support. I wonder if there's a reason for the community not doing much for this thing. Stuck on old Android, old Linux, old Debian...
Factory-reset failed and Lineage-flashing also (triple-boot system)
Hello,
i am new here and not so good in english, so sorry for that :crying:
But i have since a few days the Gemini PDA only Wifi and installed a triple boot. In the first boot in took a rooted Android, in the second boot Kali and in the last one TWRP Recovery to flash Lineage. I have still a Sony Xperia E1 with Lineage, it is not the first time i used & flashed Lineage on a phone. Back to the Gemini. The first two boot-partitions are working as they should. TWRP is also working. But the factory-reset always failed, which is also the reason the the installation of Lineage still not work. Has someony an idea why the factory-reset in failing?
Thanks for your help,
mediateker

Omni does NOT provide root by default. You MUST flash SuperSU in recovery for any type of root
Omni is not compatible with MultiRom, so whenever you try flashing this ROM as primary or secondary and it´s not working for you is your fault. No reports are welcome or will be answered related to this.
Omni does not take responsability on fails regarding XPOSED, your mod, your troubles. No reports are welcome or will be answered related to this.
Omni for the OnePlus One uses Oppo Find7/7a camera blobs, so there will no be anyway to help users to use Oxygen OS and if any tries or get it, please don´t post here since it´s not accepted.
Thank you mate another build for 6.0.

Thanks for trying on help, but this is not the fix. I already have added the libboringssl-compat for compilation, thought it´s compiling maybe there is some conflict. I´ll logcat in a few hours to check what the error is.
PD: I already was looking for the CM thread as some of the builds are shared on my afh account and know all the process, anyway thanks for the desire of help.

Is there any way to remap hardware keys without the option being built in?
Also, NFC is borked on this build. Can't switch it on

I cant't find a way to activate Google Now on tap with hardware keys, but other than that...not that I have seen. Pretty decent build to try out.
Stuck at One+ logo. Clean flash with Slim 6.0 GAPPs using latest TWRP multiROM, but just one ROM.
I've tried without GAPPs and same problem.
I'm sorry, I don't have a PC to take a log.

WiFi ok
Testing...
Thanks ?
Bugs i have found so far.
- nfc wont turn on
-dictionary doesnt work
- seems to be a gap between the signal indicator and battery icon that shouldnt be there.
-have to reboot twice to get device to boot.
Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk
No reboots here.
Magical for a first experimental release - WiFi works, BT works (YAAS), NFC doesn't (don't care), RIL works, system UI tuner is a great addition, Spotify refuses to load for me, Facebook doesn't have issues, GPS is working perfectly.
I did have a couple issues with getting to setup wizard but reboots eventually got me in. And restoring apps actually work with Banks GApps!
As for battery life, we'll see in the next 24h but this is a great start to Omni already. Definitely in a better place than CM right now.
Thanks for all the hard work!
Edit - I believe TiBu has some detection issues with this as it restored an old backup for me, just a heads up for the guys out there
Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk
I did a clean slate with TiBu and its working great now. This surely is an impressive first build. Best MM rom ive used yet. Good work and i look forward to any updates!

As I told on the OP, normal TWRP is recommended, and I shared a modified TWRP for it, so please before asking, read OP then try, then ask.

I´m looking for the NFC issue, as well we are working to delete the gap on statusbar. About the dictionary, I think our keyboard is outdated, will update it.

NFC is being reviewed, and about remap hardware keys you´ll have to wait until we add it. As soon as it is done I will post it here.
2 bug.
When i play music, the equalizer stoped.
Camera dont save pics
The rom is fantastic
Any plans on putting CAF camera? I do love 60, 90, 120 high framerate recording / 60, 90, 120 slow motion recording
The last version is 30/10 or 31/10 ?
Edit: nevermind , going to test it no matter what

- Launching persistent TWRP not supported. Only built-in 2.8
So if you have adopted sdcard you can't restore backup.
To fix flash CM13 kernel.
- OpenGapps for 7.0 here
- Feature spotlights here
- File manager in Settings > Storage finally can install APK's, useful for first boot.
- To use 2 apps at same time hold and drag thumbnail in Recents
- Double-tap on Recents works like Alt+Tab (like long press in CM)
- In dev options new option to force move all apps on adopted storage

FOTA TWRP (recent, most likely 3.0 only) is known & fixed,
logo loops on and on, nothing opening right?
Thanks for confirming.
Thanks a lot, Ron!
GPS is works (tested in Google Maps)

I hadn't adopted sdcard, sorry.
Just noticed old TWRP and therefore possible problem.

can you please share cm13 kernel?
Look likes our XM always infront of the other ..
Tried!
Everything's working fine, except:
1. Camera not working.
2. No live wallpapers.
3. Music app crashing every time.
Does anyone have success flashing GApps? On Opengapps wiki is stated that it needs additional ROM patching to disable APK Signature Scheme V2.
---------- Post added at 22:47 ---------- Previous post was at 22:44 ----------
BTW, if FOTA recovery is not working, I can repack the boot image with the latest TWRP 3.0.2-1.

Yes, like all ROMs for our device (and maybe for our entire SoC family).
Can any user test WiFi hopspot for me. And also if pokemon go will work without bugs (sorry I have no time to DL and test myself ATM)
So here are results of my brief testing:
- It booted VERY FAST as there is no ART cache compilation after every update, cache is generated on-the-fly combining JIT and AOT compilation. BTW, not only first boot was fast but the latter ones too, much faster than CM13.
- First boot with Opengapps Pico for 08.26 led to Setup Master's FCs at some moments, yet after some painful experience I've succeed adding Google account and even restoring my apps and settings, which was quite surprising (I was amazed when noticed my ringtone being restored to that from CM13).
- 3G is not working, at least for me. Only EDGE.
- Getting root with the current version of SuperSU appears to be impossible, at least for our device.
- Phone seems to be less responsive, but maybe that's just me, because I regularly use it overclocked to 1.4 GHz.
- TWRP 2.8.0.0 and not working FOTA recovery, seriously? I was forced to repack boot image with the TWRP 3 (just quickly grabbed that from NUI as I'm lazy to repack recovery ramdisk for using in boot image). Some report it working but for me it always booted to the built-in TWRP, both by Vol- and Vol+. BTW, I can upload repacked boot image tomorrow (it is on my personal laptop, I'm writing this from my work one).
I would certainly use it as daily driver if there were root and NUI kernel available. It is very stable for such an early alpha (gosh, Ron started working on it a couple days ago as sources were published) and such an old phone (it debuted 3 years ago), we are very lucky to have so custom-friendly hardware and such a talented developers as Ron and guys working on msm8960 board (another reason I think is that there were no any bringing-pain-in-the-ass changes like ART in 4.4/5.0 and adoptable storage in 6.0). Great work, PecanCM!
I'll continue my testing tomorrow and revert to CM13 later until new SuperSU and NUI are released (or maybe forever if I'll buy new device soon).

Changelog:
4/27/17
Initial release
My changes to @joe2k01's rom base:
Cleaned up the formatting of the tree so its more inline with the standard tree.
Removed the keylayout patch in favor of a proper fix
Removed OTA support (I personally do not think its important and i have no desire to use it)
Renamed the device name from SUPER to super device codenames are not mean't to be capitalized like that.
[*]Converted the Menu button to be app switcher (There is no reason for a dedicated menu button) I have set the default long press on app switch to be menu so its still possible to use it though
Moved to an open source lights hal instead of a propitiatory one.
[*]Set the notification light to act as a button backlight (Currently its only blue) with configurable brightness and length in settings.
Disabled Snap in favor of the AOSP Camera for now.
Forced API 1 Camera Hal for now
Took the media_profiles config from elephone p9000 seems to help with third party camera apps.
Removed the CM Screen Recorder (No alternative for now)
Removed the CM Sound Recorder (AOSP one is now included and is fully working)
Very nice. Although I have to say, at the risk of sounding rude or discouraging, I fail to see the point of 2 separate LOS 6.0.1 projects for UMi Super. Especially as joe2k01's version is pretty stable and smooth at the stable version, with excellent battery life too. I would say the only thing it's missing is BT audio, which as far as I can see is not fixed in this version either. Have I had the developer skills needed myself, I would certainly focus on developing a LOS 14.1 port for our device.
But that's just my perspective, again I would hate to sound discouraging as EVERY developer contribution counts!
I would like to be able to try this rom, but unfortunately I can not install any twrp anymore ... I tried a multitude of versions but nothing ... If possible it would be nice to have a version to install via spflashtool.

This is my first mtk device so i am still learning how the spflashtool works and such in the future i can look into making a spflashtool compatible build but for now its only gonna be twrp. My guess is your device variant has a different kernel and a custom twrp needs to be built with that kernel.

Screenshots
Thanks for your hard work Bro. it's really fantastic.
I can confirm, that in general it works not bad on my Z3+(E6553). Currently spotted problems:
1. Very laggy camera, when adding Wifi using qrcode - impossible to use.
2. With NikGapps Core impossible to get Contacts synched with Google account. Will try to install basic or full edition - maybe it will help.
EDIT:
Issue #2 is solved. Google Contacts gets normally synched, when NikGapps Core is installed right after Android ROM flashing with no reboot, as per LineageOS wiki guide:
"Google apps should be installed via recovery immediately after installing LineageOS"
Look for Installation title in: https://wiki.lineageos.org/gapps.html
3. Some apps cannot be installed from Play market. At 99% of download Goggle store informs "Can't download <name of app>". Currently only one thing goes in to the head - something is not right with Gapps permissions and applications with obb cache cannot save it to right location.
I'm really impressive about what you made, it is working nice and fast charging is present (not recommend because phone gets hot as h...). Navigation gestures, camera, both speakers, bluetooth... Congrats!!!!
Thank you for your efforts, it works normally, but there are some minor problems on my phone:
1. The rear camera cannot focus correctly,
2. The liveDisplay cannot be used,
3. The network time cannot be obtained correctly, and the factory time will be restored automatically after restarting. I need to manually correct the time.
It seems that fast charging is not supported.
The others are very good, thank you very much for your contribution, it is really very useful.

- There is not much i can do to improve the camera for now...
- LiveDisplay was removed before the initial release, because of a problem that could cause the kernel crashing, but it's already fixed and will be added back in the next build.
- I'm not really sure what's causing your problem with Time, because it's working fine on my "Z5" and should be the same on Z3+/Z4 too.

I noticed some features that doesnt work on my device (E6533):
-Mic (when I try to use, the app force close).
-Bluetooth, first release it worked but for now, impossible to use.
-no sound when gaming (obb games in general).
-recovery wont work, a lot of error messages and wont flash anything.
-camera wont focus and taking a long time to shot (as you said camera wont work).
Otherhand multitasking and overall usage works nice, smooth animations, fast opening and excellent ram management.

First of all, I would like thanking you for the support to this device, as we Z3+/Z4 Users stuck in Nougat.
I have been using your rom for nearly three weeks, during long battery testes, performance, and the user experience. I classified how the system did, including the bugs I saw.
Level of ImportanceBug/ErrorPersonal OpinionMinimalSound is a bit choppy in higher frecuencies. This only has happened to me in 3rd party apps. Like Clock (when you set an alarm) , Twitch. It happens when the chip is surpassing the 41º degrees.MediumSome apps cannot play voice recordingsIt is working with the stock default recorder, but in messaging apps like Whatsapp and Recorder by Google. Few apps crashed at starting the record. The good thing is that is at least working in Telegram.MediumFM Radio not workingI know, it is already in the post. yet after some days it was working unexpectedly. I have no idea how, but after a reboot it just stopped giving signals.CriticalPlay Store cannot install apps containing OBB files
(Microsoft Office, Heavy games, among others...)I recently wanted to install manually a game with these kinds of files, and I realized something with a Root Explorer Manager....
(Check screenshot below)
Some permissions are not properly adjusted in this folder, this might be the bug. Was it caused by the GApps Package? I flashed NikGapps Full Package. (1-May-2021)CriticalCamera cannot recordingI wish you could finally make it work in 3rd party apps.
I recorded some logs if you want to take a look.
(Camera, Sound...)
Final Words...
I remember when the OS started for first time, it was really hot, more than usual, some Gapps just was keeping crashing, I let the phone to cold down, and worked.
After few hours sync was not working properly, so I decided to make an update manually from play store. Then all apps started to work perfectly.
Nothing to say about perfomance, it is much better than the Lineage 14.1 Nightly Build. You really nailed it!
Thanks for your time.

About your feedback:
-Sound issues should be improved in the next build.
-Haven't met any voice recording problems here. (Z5)
-FM Radio was always a pain in the ass, since my headphone jack is broken and my device is Z5,
I don't really know how to deal with it. but someone reported that it works.
-I have faced some problems like you while trying to download apps with obb, but after flash GAPPS package
over it again, i am able to download them, but still don't know the real reason. (using MindTheGapps)
-As i said camera stuff in this device is a mess, i can't really make any change to it, you will know if some progress has been made.

-As i said camera stuff in this device is a mess, i can't really make any change to it, you will know if some progress has been made.

What a pity to heard that about your headphone jack, but you know it was working totally fine, then one day the app keep closing by itself, I don't even modified the system partition. I should clean cache... Maybe could work.
Thanks! Next build I will flash MindTheGApps, there seems to be a problem with NikGApps, luckily there are more Unofficial Gapps to try out.
I will be always up to day for every publication!
New build released
Updated to Android 11.0.0_r38 with June security patches.

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 13, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.

Installation instructions
Make sure you are on OneUI 5 firmware (D bootloader or newer) before flashing this ROM, otherwise the installation might fail or not boot!
Installing LineageOS using LineageOS recovery
Follow the guide on the LineageOS wiki.
Installing LineageOS using TWRP/OrangeFox
Make sure your device's bootloader is unlocked.
Make sure to have the latest available version of TWRP/OrangeFox installed.
If wanted, backup all your necessary partitions (super, boot, vendor_boot, data, EFS) before flashing this in case something goes wrong.
Download the lineage build for your device from the link below and optionally download your preferred GApps package too.
Flash the LineageOS zip using the "Install" button.
Optionally, flash Gapps right after.
Format data in TWRP/OrangeFox as the very last thing, otherwise you may end up in a bootloop if coming from stock ROM.
Wipe metadata and cache partitions. This only has to be done once when you install LineageOS.
Reboot

Good work!
Great work, I'm on One UI 5.1 right now. Can I flash it, nevertheless?
And some screenshots of the ROM would be really appreciated as well.
What a journey, feels great to witness the evolution of it
This is the start of many things to come! I appreciate @Simon1511 effort unto this.
That's awesome, finally.
Bugs: Noticed the camera app is really buggy, when I switch the video resolution/FPS, camera shows a black screen or a frozen picture, also switching from front/back camera and other things also glitch up.
Camera is black as shown above, and identify songs playing nearby doesn't seem to want to turn on either
This is a huge milestone for the development of ROMs for this phone.
sim toolkit kinda broken still
Hi guys
How is Battery life on this rom ?
Performance for gaming ?
Thanks for answering
I have Android 13 currently installed, it's a GMS firmware, based on Google's Experience ROM. I tried to install the ROM but got message that it's not android 13 even though I know it's 13. Is it caused by missing oneUI? If so what are my options to get this ROM installed? Go back to Samsung's original ROM? Is it even possible? Thanks

My ROM does require Android 13 firmware, not just any Android 13 ROM.
So yes, you'll have to return to stock ROM to flash the latest firmware available for you phone and then install LineageOS.
Thank you for your effort. Now I'm really considering buying this phone.
Hi,
I have installed this ROM and when connected to a WifI i get the msg: "Connected/No internet access".
Googling around I got I had to check with Termux the value of this variable:
> settings get global captive_portal_server
> null
I understand the value of not using the default google owned http://connectivitycheck.gstatic.com but cannot this value be set to some site more privacy-aware/FOSS/non-tracking site rather than NULL ?
( read about that here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/guide-how-to-avoid-the-captive-portal-checkin-to-google.3927561/)
I found these strange languages below when adding a language. Also, I installed F-droid app and then Aurora Store from F-droid repository. But Aurora Store keeps closing, it doesn't work with this ROM. I'm not sure if this is Aurora issue or something in this ROM that stops Aurora from running.
I can confirm that the camera app stops working shortly after being in use. It starts up, it allows me to take a photo but once I take a look at taken photo and go back to taking pictures again the camera screen is black.
in settings -> display -> colors, there are 4 options to choose from and sample pictures. are these pictures expected to change in color to exemplify the effect of 4 options? if yes then in my installation this doesn't work. a change in options is not reflected on the images.
