Just got this for my Archos 101. It doesnt require a wii remote
to work, it acts as a remote and classic controller in one.
I use WiiMote http://www.appbrain.com/app/wiimote-controller/com.ccpcreations.android.WiiUseAndroid
to sync it to my Archos via Bluetooth.
It allows me to play lots of games on my Archos with a
propper controller instead of the on screen buttons.
It works perfectly with Snesoid http://www.appbrain.com/app/snesoid-(snes-emulator)/com.androidemu.snes
and Gameboid http://www.appbrain.com/app/gameboid-(gba-emulator)/com.androidemu.gba emulators
Its awsome, because I can output to tv using the HDMI socket on the Archos and play all my favorite
oldschool Snes games from the sofa.
just got mine today!
not too happy with the small amount in lag between the controller and what you see, and well, still gotta break in the controller.
also, talk about a pain in the butt to find at retail locations in the US! no one had em near me, so had to eat the msrp and ordered from datel directly.
are you using wiimote or another app?
I dont get any lag as far as I can tell with snesoid games?
Using wiimote...i notice it more in fighting games where timing is crucial, but it's there for sure...
Noticed the same witha regular wii controller as well.

Talking about a pain in the A! Finding this controller in the US is crazy.
just Ordered mine... like "godashram" said be prepared to pay the MSRP on this!
FYI for all looking for this.
Don't even think of going to "www . amazon . co . uk" and trying to get it shipped to the US. They won't ship to the US.
no ebay, no overstock, nobody near me on craigslist, etc...
You have to go to "us . CodeJunkies . com" to get it.
Happy on the GO gaming to all out there.
Sorry for no links... I have less than 8 posts.

[REVIEW] Phonejoy bluetooth gamepad - new video bluetooth multiplayer via MHL!

A little something for retro gamers (or just gamers) amongst us:
http://blog.clove.co.uk/2011/07/21/...phonejoy-refresh-dual-analog-sticks-are-a-go/
...and now N64oid updated to 2.4 for bluetooth multiplayer support!
http://www.androidnz.net/2011/09/n64oid-updates-to-24-multiple-bluetooth.html
Nice video.
I've already pre-ordered mine. Hopefully it will come soon enough.
Talking to Martin at Phonejoy it should be very soon!
i liked this concept, but it would have been a 'yes' from me, if only they incorporated a keyboard style controller, which we could attach to our s2 ;(
I got an email from the makers just a couple of minutes ago to say they are making one just like that (similar to the iControlPad, one that the phone sits within). Its presently in the design stages.
Wanna have one

Hope 2 see it soon ;-)
I already thought of making my own construction.
Clove have a pre-order going on these now, they need 50 orders by the 15th of August to go ahead (no idea how many they currently have). If you are keen its worth looking into.

Disappointing. So the 'Analog' sticks aren't Analog after all, hence running everywhere in Mario and the sniper issues you mention. Pretty pointless upgrade from the original then no?
Or is it that the emulators are just not programmed to understand the analog instructions?

£47?
Other than not needing a custom rom, how is this any better than using a proper ps3 controller?

Err, is it possible to get ps3 controllers working with a custom rom then? excuse my ignorance..

It'll work with any HID supporting device - which at the moment is a lot more devices that you'll find with PS3 support.
True PS3 support is starting to get out there though - if you're on CM7 or MIUI you should be able to use a PS3 remote right now, since there is a software out that can do it (forget the name, search for sixaxis in the Market brings it up).

If you have a custom ROM with a normal bluetooth stack, yes. There is a sixaxis app in the market for a couple of dollars IIRC, there's also a free app to make sure it'd work before you buy it.

Yeah that's a big plus for me at the moment I guess - I'm now rooted but I'm happy with stock (and don't fancy playing with buggy nightlies again).
It just struck me as a little pricey for something that sounded very cheapo (maybe it was just the recording). My Datel retro controller only cost £17ish - although that's as limited as a PS3 controller with regards to bluetooth, sadly.
Do we have MIUI for SGS2? I might look into that...
In hindsight, I think I'm gonna try and get one of these - there's a crappy dilemma with the PS3 controller:
- Put custom ROM on, allow PS3 controller to work with 'normal' BT stack, sacrifice TV-Out via MHL/HDMI
- Stay stock, retain TV-Out but obviously unable to use PS3 controller.
Seems Clove decided not to stock them though, that sucks.
Ive ordered one from the phonejoy website. I was using CM7 before to play with my ps3/wiimote controller, but I need my TV out too. So back to a rom which allow my TV out and buying that controller.
I was going to go with an Icontrolpad, but its at least X2 more expensive than this one... Gonne give a review when ill get it, it should take +-1-2 months... that suck haha

Yep, the TV Out is an important aspect for me, and part of the reason I'll be sticking with the Phonejoy for now at least.
iControlPad is just plain worse for use with TV Out, while it is better for portability the price seems pretty unrealistic to me. Phonejoy have been developing a similar control pad to the iControlPad style, no ETA on availability etc, but its in the works.
Incidentally, the latest Jirioni Arcade update is compatible with the MAME4ALL ROM set, pretty good with this set up!

And why icontrolpad is worse for tv out? You dont need to have the cellphone right to it, so icontrolpad or phonejoy will do the same thing in the end. I know icontrolpad can have some claw to hold the cellphone, but theyre not needed to use it.
some Phonejoys are appearing on ebay UK now.. i got mine for like £41.00, cheaper that his website and shipped from the uk
I'm really quite impressed with it, love using the sticks in games like Syphon Filter. So good using TV out on a big screen, my phone is now basically a super portable multi-console. love it
Reason the iControlPad is worse is that its a worse controller configuration for emulating systems like the PSX/N64, if you're tethered to the TV then its mobility advantage is irrelevant.

Gaming Controllers

I currently use my dual shock 3, but I was wondering if any of you use something different?
How are you able to connect to the OG? I used to be able to connect my wii remote to play nes.emu rooms but for some reason google changed something in 4.2.2 and now it won't connect. It asks for a pin but I've searched everywhere for an answer.
idk how I got here...

To be honest I haven't tried yet on 4.2.2 I just started using Rootbox about 2 days ago. Glad you said that, now I'm having issues with gettin the Sixaxis app to work.
***Update*** I cleared the data of the Sixaxis App and it updated the bluetooth address, it now works for me.

I buddy of mine got the Moga Pro, and it's great for the LGOG. I don't have to take my Diztronic case off of it, and it still fits into the mounting bracket. Overall, it is very comfortable. The only bummer, and it's not due to the controller, was that I couldn't map any buttons for Call of Duty: Zombies. You have to use the screen to control the game. Worked flawlessly with Dead Trigger. Moga's app is kind of lame, too.

And this is the only advantage of using the Sixaxis app because there is touch emulation. Would be sweet if there was a universal app that did the same thing with other controllers, there may be but I just haven't discovered it yet.
I've always wondered how people use their sixaxis controller to play games on their Android.
How do you play? your both hands are holding the sixaxis, what's holding your phone? Or is there a way to hold your phone on top of the sixaxis.
I would like to know because I want to use my sixaxis, but feel really weird holding the sixaxis and my phone on my lap. I want to know if there is a controller that can hold a phone similar to the MOGA controller but much less expensive.

I just looked online and the gameklip looks just about what I was looking for. I wanted a mount so I can attach my phone to my sixaxis.
I have not bought the item yet, but I will in the near future.

Well I was using a Gametel to play all my old favorite NES, SNES, SMS and Genesis games, but after minimal use the right side of the d-pad stopped working. Seems to be a common problem.
As much as I love the design and the way it fits in my hands the durability makes me say avoid at all costs.

Looks cool to me- I might check it out because I'd rather have it all together- meaning like a handheld console where the controls are on either side of the screen.

rooted htc one gaming options

Hi all, I only saw one similar thread when searching the forums but it was quite an old post.
Anyway i'm looking for a gaming controller compatable with the htc one. There are quite a few options so i'm not sure what to go for and would appreciate some oppinions. I will most likely be purchasing off ebay or amazon.
I would be interested in a controller that is no more than about £25 ($38) with shipping. I would like it to be rechargeable. Also I would like it to be compatable with the htc one (obviously), and more specifically modern combat 4.
I was also iwondering about buying a replica ps3 controller but again not sure if it would work.
My phone is rooted and any suggestions would be appreciated along with software to download.
Thanks, I look forward to hear your replys
MOGA makes some good ones from what I hear.
http://www.amazon.com/MOGA-Mobile-Gaming-System-Android/dp/B0096L2SJ0
Most (if not all) of these mobile game pads operate over Bluetooth, so it is really up to the developers to enable support through the game's code.
It's a little more than what you are willing to spend, but from all the praise I hear about it, it seems to be well worth it.

Unfortunately the bluetooth stack on sense based roms is to put it mildly, crap! So as a workaround you could install an AOSP type rom which should enable you to use the likes of a PS3 controller, if that's the route you want to take then don't for the love of god buy a crappy replica pad, they're false economy and don't offer half the amount of precision that an official pad will.
PS3 pads are around £30 and the six axis app is around £2 i think, theres a chance that HTC will pull their heads out but I highly doubt it.
If Sense is the way you are going then the best option as the previous poster has stated is the Moga controller, but don't go for the original, it's cheaper yea but it also takes batteries instead of being a rechargable base.
The Moga Pro controller is available for £39.99 from Game.co.uk, it's an expensive pad but it's built like a rock and feels just like an xbox 360 controller, plus it has the batteries built in and will work with Sense in conjunction with the Pivot app which is free.
There are only so many games made to tailor it but you can get an app called gamekeyboard (which i think is also free) and map button presses to keys for emulators etc, i think there is an option for touch points but I'm yet to test that.
Thanks for the replies guys. I think I will just keep looking on ebay for a second hand moga pro ro save up for it to save hastle. I rooted my htc one for the sole purpose of playing games with a controller so hopefully I can find a good priced one. The PS3 controller/ASOP rom doesnt seem worth the hastle to save £5. Do you know if it would work with apk files not downloaded from the play store?

I wouldn't talk about ripping off games or apps on XDA m8, you'll incur an infraction if your caught doing so.
The app for the record won't work if it's an apk, it needs to check in and doesn't work, there is a six axis compaibility checker which is free.

Just advice lad. The question was referring to an app, the app in question was the six axis controller Iapp, that is a paid app. There is no place to download it for free without ripping off the developer, hence my response.
If you're downloading paid for apps for free. Then you shouldn't be, simple as that.

HTC One USB Game Controller - no root required

I was so eager to try a gamepad on my HTC one but there were comments here in XDA that it needs rooting for it to work so looked for other alternatives instead. I was able to test a $2.50 dollar ordinary usb joystick and it works fine, no root needed! Thought there are no analog sticks I was able to play games that doesn't require them. I also tried the USB ones that has analog in them but it didn't work (I guess this is due to low power, etc.)
Here's a video I did to test it
So just in case you guys are looking for a gamepad that works for your One try those that doesn't have an analog stick, it might work. Consider to test them as well if the store is OK with it.
I might get mogapro or ps3 sixaxis controller in the future but for now this satisfies my gaming needs
