I'm on n a sprint s9.
So I was out and my phone started to ring. Before I could answer it the screen went dark and my phone died.
Phone would not turn back on and trying to reset with volume down + power wouldent work either.
Got home and plugged it in. Gauge went to 50% immediatley and was able to power phone back on.
Went through boot up and now I'm typing this.

Hello,
I am having an issue with my S 3. It is not booting up as it should. The model is SGH-1747M.
I have tried the following and have had the following results:
1) The phone is non-responsive when attempting to power it on with the power button.
2) If I remove the battery, with the phone not plugged in, and then put the battery back in, the phone begins to power on by itself. It vibrates once and then loads to the Samsung screen and then goes off.
3) If I plug the phone in without the battery, the phone vibrates once and the red charging light comes on but then goes off after a couple seconds.
4) If I plug the phone in without the battery, and then insert the battery as soon as the red light comes on, the charging screen comes on but then the phone goes off after a couple seconds.
5) If I put the battery in with the phone unplugged and hold Volume Down, Power and the Home Button, the phone boots to the screen where you can push up on volume to flash new firmware. If I stay on this screen without pressing anything, the phone turns off after a couple seconds. If I push up on the power button, it goes to the screen with the green android man but then turns off after a couple seconds.
6) If I put the battery in with the phone unplugged and hole Volume Up, Power and Home and then release them on the Samsung screen, blue writing pops up in the top left corner (I couldn’t read quick enough what it says) while still on the Samsung screen and then it loads to a screen saying Samsung Galaxy S III and then the phone turns off.
These problems started when I attempted to connect my phone to my laptop to transfer songs over to it. I connected the phone and the battery was charging, but it wasn’t showing up as connected on my laptop. So, I turned the phone off to restart it but when I went to turn it back on, these issues started.
The phone was rooted and has been for the last 7 months without any changes to the firmware or updates to the firmware in that time period and has not encountered any problems prior. I’m not sure what firmware the phone was on prior to this.
If anyone could offer any assistance with this it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
Hi,
I'm no expert, but it looks like a faulty/stuck power button. It's normal for the phone not to completely boot up when it is powered off and then plugged in to USB. But it is not normal for the phone to reboot itself when in recovery or in Android. That's why I think the power switch might be the cause.
Hello everyone, thank you for your time.
TL;DR: Phone boots into download mode up until "Downloading...", recovery mode until "RECOVERY BOOTING," and can only boot right when I put the battery in. The battery is fully charged, and I can boot up until my home screen only once so far. Will a jig fix the issue, or should I try to get the phone replaced by TMobile warranty as I have before?
I have a Galaxy S3 from TMobile, and have been running CyanogenMod for about a year now. 2 days ago I flashed a nightly release, which I assume was unstable. Yesterday, my screen was on and then my phone turned off (low battery, but 99% sure it was a crash rather than a power off), and did not boot up again. After attempting to pull the battery out, charge for hours, turn on and plug in (in different combinations), the furthest I could get was a couple of seconds of the CyanogenMod Galaxy S3 logo initial boot screen (not the rotating splash screen).
I took my phone to TMobile today and was about to get it replaced until I realized I didn't mask the flashes.
The last time I was in an exact same situation with the same phone model, and my flash counter was still showing custom firmware, yet I did manage to get it replaced effortlessly, but I didn't want to risk what was a possible fluke again.
I get home, and here's my current situation.
The only way the phone boots up in any manner is when I take the battery out and the charger is not plugged in. Here are the scenarios I run into:
1. Boots into download mode, can press VOL + to get to the "Downloading..." screen, then shuts off 2 seconds after.
2. Boots into recovery mode, only up until "RECOVERY BOOTING", then shuts off.
3. Boot by pressing power button, plug charger in, shows grey battery icon.
3. Boots into download mode, can press VOL -, either shuts off, OR
3b) Only after tons of tries, it booted up all the way up until my actual home screen, then shut off.
I can't have the charger plugged in while booting (pc or wall), and I can only boot right after I put the battery in.
Are there any suggestions as to what I should do? I was thinking of buying a jig from Amazon, but I don't know if it is hard bricked or not. Should I just attempt to get it replaced under warranty once again, even though it shows the flash count?
Thank you very much!
FIX: STUCK POWER BUTTON PROBLEM
So, one thing I didn't check. Take the battery out of the phone, wait about a minute. If it buzzes as if its powering on, that means that your power button (either the actual button itself or the switch on the mainboard) is stuck.
Solution: Smack the power button with your battery until your battery has a (small) dent. If it doesn't work, smack it a couple more times. Took me 2 tries, second try, phone didn't buzz when I put battery in. I press the power button, works like new. Absolutely....ridiculous
So I was at 3 percent and plugged the phone in the car charger. I just texted and the phone got stuck. Waited for it to start being normal again but it didnt. Suddenly it shut down, restarted and got stuck on the LG logo. I waited and waited and finally removed the charger and took out the battery. I then plugged the charger back in but the screen would just not light up. Tried holding the power and volume button key at the same time, but to no avail. Took the battery out and kept the power button pressed and then put the battery back in. Still wouldnt work. I then connected the phone to my laptop and pressed the volume up key to enter into download. Nothing.
What is wrong with my phone? The phone is just DEAD. It doesnt even light up showing that its charging when i put the plug in. What should I do?
The phone is rooted. Its on stock rom btw.

Please do some search and refer to the bootloop thread as there is no need to create new one. since there are many discussions on this topic already. Try freezer or baking method and see if you can at least get it to boot to have your data backed up.
This is a strange one.
HTC 10 2PS6500, Android 8. Has been working fine. Today I took the phone out of the pocket, to find that it's been turned off. Strange, I know the battery was almost full, so it's not a power down due to low battery.
Tried to turn it on with the power button, didn't work.
Held the power and volume up + down at the same time, a few seconds later the phone vibrated and powered up. Battery at 92%. No sign of what might have happened. Phone was working. I wondered what happened but soon forgot about it.
A few hours later, I charged the phone back to 100%. While using it, the screen timed out, when I pressed the power button again, a message popped up saying "HTC recovered from an abnormal reset, send it to HTC" or something like that, and it tells me to tap it twice to send. I tapped it twice, the screen came up. I have the option of Send to HTC or Cancel. I pressed Cancel. The screen froze after that.
Buttons are unresponsive. I pressed the power and volume buttons to reset it, it went black.
Since then I have not been able to get it to respond.
Power button alone - nothing. Tried even holding in excess of 1 minute.
Power + Volume Down - nothing. Held for 10 seconds, 20 seconds, over 1 minute.
Powr + Volume Up + Volume Down - nothing. Held for different durations of time, no difference.
Connected it to a charger, no response, the light up top where it lits when charging does not light up.
It's completely unresponsive. No boot screen, no vibration, nothing at all.
Any idea what else I can try?
well some new development...
I was trying to do the hard reset on the phone periodically. Sometimes with the charger plugged in (but no light on top indicating it's taking any charge). A day later, I was doing another hard reset (not expecting it to respond) but it vibrates and boots up. Since then it has been behaving normally. Strange that battery was at 21%, when it was at 80% when the screen froze. I charged it to 100% then backed up the data while I had it on.
I got about a day of usage out of it, then while I was on a browser scrolling down on a web page, the screen froze again. Battery at 75%. After trying to reset it, the screen went black. Since then, no response on attempts to hard reset.
I have a feeling if I leave it alone for a day and try it it will come back alive.
Doing a search on the net yield nothing except I did see a post someone made saying after the screen froze had to wait till the battery drains 100%, then charge it back up and it will boot again. Is this what is happening? If it's bricked how is it consuming battery?
Anyone has any idea sure would like to hear it.
So I had kept my oneplus3 on charge at around 10:00 Pm yesterday and fell asleep. Woke up around 12:00pm to see it was fully charged so I unplugged the charger kept the phone beside me and went to sleep. Today when I woke up I saw that the phone has a black screen and is completely dead. The LED light is not on. Plugged into the charger no response. Tried holding power button ..nothing. No vibrations or home button lights
Currently, there is nothing going on with the phone. No flashes on screen no LED. Absolutely nothing. Tried connecting to laptop (windows 10) dont see anything. It was working perfectly fine last night and i had used it for nothing but music then.
Question is.. is the phone hard bricked or completley bricked? what might be the reason? I searched youtube only to find 1 person with similar problem who had said that he kept the phone for 48 hours and when it was completely discharged he pluged in charger again and it started working.
I am confused. Have a lot of work documents inside and what if it stays the same after 48 hours?
Appreciate any help on the matter
update: Tried plugging in the charger a few min ago. The led turns red and Vibrates. Nothing else
Update 2: so after 24 hours of setting the phone aside. i plugged the charger and it went into charging. But now am facing a new problem. My bootloader is unlocked and the power button is busted hence whenever I press volume down and plug-in the charger it takes me to bootloader warning screen from where either it goes into charge or i press volume key and it goes into option which I again cant select cause power button is busted. Tried holding down the power button and connect to laptop(windows 10) no device detected and it works like normal charging. Tried to charge for a few minutes unpluged charger and start again .. it was stuck on oneplus screen. Any ideas??
