[VERNEE ACTIVE] - Discussion & useful INFO - Device Reviews and Information

This thread aims to provide every useful information about VERNEE ACTIVE :good: I would like to make this thread as a REFERENCE for what a user should know about this device and all the possible guides available. Unfortunately we don't have a dedicated forum so let's create a single discussion, clean and organized.
For now I will write just basic information, later I will add some useful guides to obtain root (Magisk or SuperSU) and custom recovery (TWRP) while we wait for Oreo, hopefully :fingers-crossed:

Vernee Active Firmware?
Hi there, i have a Vernee Active that is stuck in a bootloop I can't get into is at all, I can get into fastboot, and windows & flashtool see my phone , but I can't not find any firmware info at all? Is this the only vernee phone without firmware online? Can someone extract the first firmware update that we get when we first boot into the os and post it please.

OK I got a link to firmware from someone over 4pda hope this will help someone else
in my situation. https://www.needrom.com/download/vernee-active/

GPS - Compass Vernee Active
The Compass and the GPS are very bad for me on Vernee Active in France.
Someone already found a solution for these problems ?
I have rooted the smartphone and apply Fastergps but not better.

GPS

Yes, GPS seems an issue for most people. It is a software problem. Someone managed to improve it by looking for "MTK GPS fix" guides on YouTube. It is just a matter of entering engineering menu and calibrating GPS there.
I tried, but had no tangible results whatsoever.

Gps vernee active
It's better now :
Device rooter
Config gps : I modified agps_nvram.txt under /nvcfg (with exemple og gps. conf for my country on google)
Epo : I dowloaded last Epo. Dat and Epo. Md5 on /data/misc/gps (or appli on playstore)
Appli gps Status : reinit a-gps
Reboot
But the calibration for magntic sensor is not good even with recalibration (often)

How did you root the phone?
I tried couple of methods but didn't work.

Root
You need to install Twrp (needrom or 4pda) with sp flash tools and after install zip Magisk +apk magisk

Google Play
Does anyone have an issue where there is no google play?
I have asked the seller for details and they think they can not fix the problem. I wonder if flashing the rom above (the mediafire one) will fix the problem?
Advice would very much be appreciated.

Is there any forum or updates for Vernee Active, somewhere out there?

I would think updating through wireless update would be fine, just make sure it's plugged in to stay charged. I've had mine for several months now and there's never been a wireless update for it.

I don't know where you're getting the number from. Mine is Custom Build version: Active_20180108, Android version: 7.0, Android security patch level: November 5, 2017, Kernel version: 4.4.15, Build number: alps-mp-n0.mp5-V1_nb6757.66.n_P45. I'm in Australia if that makes a difference.

I joined this site when I got this phone hoping to update it to the latest version of Android. But after reading through these threads, watching many Youtube videos, and more research, I figured updating the ROM was well over my head - they all assume a certain amount of user knowledge that I don't have and I've seen nothing about what (if anything) the latest version would provide, or break.
This phone was close to $500AUD (with accessories), which is a lot of $ for my limited budget and my first smart phone. I simply can't afford to brick it.
But very disappointing that Vernee is so slow or completely absent with updates.

Hello
It looks like Vernee has come back to life in 2021.
Someone bought the brand and is putting the old models back up for sale.
I specifically bought a Vernee Active V1.
But this model does not come with 128GB but with 64GB.
Now to my problem.
I flashed the firmware / ROM specified in 2018 for the 128GB version and now the device won't boot.
Does anyone have the ROM version to the 64GB model.
Or could I define the start and end address in the flashtool?
Thanks

Problem solved!
After long discussion with the Chinese seller I could get the ROM for the 64 GB version.
It can be found on needrom.com it's marked as
Official ROM Vernee Active Version: V1_20180401 (64 GB ROM)
Do not flash the 128 GB version on your 64 GB modell.
It will brick your phone ;-)

What version of SlimKat should I install
Ok so I have been reading the [ROM] [4.4.4] SlimKat d2att (at&t) Stable 7.0 thread (granted not all of it but most of it past August 5th).
Anyhow I have a Samsung Galaxy S3:
Model SGH-I747m
Baseband version: I747MUMUEND3
ClockworkMod Recovery 6.0.4.7
Bell Network (not like that should matter from what I have read)
I'm currently running Cyanogenmod 11M6 and am looking to switch to SlimKat.
Reading over the thread I'm trying to figure out what version of SlimKat to use. Do I use Stable 7.0 or 8.4 from the link Perseus71 posted?
I'm looking to be able to dial out, use blue tooth and use wifi . GPS would be nice but not a biggy if it's not working. So with those requirements what version should I be installing?
Please not I updated my Baseband to I think the latest version not sure if that will be an issue with Stable 7.0.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Profiles are not included in this rom which is a feature i use a lot. I need to be able to create a custom group of apps I control the notifications from within the profiles. I cannot find a replacement app that does this, all I have found just allow white list contacts, etc. Is there a way to add this functionality back or an app that will do all the native profiles do? Battery life is great on this rom and very fast so I hate to switch. Not sure I will find another as good but this is a deal breaker for me so I thought I would ask.
i think i hard bricked my phone. but i want to understand how it happened
My S3 was on S3Rx's rom runing 4.4.2 with TWRP recovery. Tried to flash slimkat rom and full version of gapps but i think something went wrong. I wiped devlik cache, system, and data then flashed the rom. everything seemed to go okay twrp showed that it flashed successful, i rebooted within twrp into recoery to flash gapps, again twrp shows that flah was successful so i tried to reboot to the system but now the phone wont turn on, doesnt charge when i plug it in and when i hold the power button to turn it on it vibrates shows the samsung logo then shuts down. So i dont understand what i did wrong that caused it to do this. Anyone have any thoughts. Luckily i already have a replacement phone the S3 is juat some thing i use to play around with. Thnks for any comments

I apologize to anyone who ever actually sees these posts. As a former forum manager and administrator, as a two year member of XDA, having read every post in the thread I wanted to post in, every post in the previous thread and a majority of the posts in the one before that, the rule really only ever prevented me from posting answers. Like everyone, I was a stupid newbie once, but that was in another forum, a long time ago.
Could someone please advise as to whether a new stable (past 7.0) is coming for d2lte?

I am in the same boat as @amf66 - my last random reboot was yesterday - with navigation, pandora and bluetooth on, plus charging in the car.
mine was interactive too, now changed to ondemand.
I see other devices getting 8.0,Stable, is D2LTE going to get it as well or is it getting passed over?
SGH-I747M Slimkat 7.0 Leankernel 9.12
Downgrade hangouts?
Can google hangouts be downgraded? I came from another rom that had and older 2.3 version that actually worked.
My cpu is running hotter compared to the stock Rogers rom I was running. The ram usage is low, but the temp is often showing 10 degrees hotter in Clean Master at idle enough to overheat. Anyone had this as well?
I'm running SlimLP on my Tab2 10.1, so far I haven't had any complaints. I can't wait to get it for my phone.
SlimLP around the corner....can't wait, running it on my Tab2 10.1 and love it.
S3 Slimkat Official 7 Bugs
I flashed Slimkat Version 7 Official for d2lte onto my Sgh-i747. I also flashed the full gapps (not mini or regular) from the slimkat website. When I booted up the OS worked fine. I could still connect to AT&T, text, use LTE, call, etc.
The biggest issue is that the home button didn't do anything when set to default commands ( press for home, double tap for multitasking) on either hardware buttons or onscreen nav. buttons. If i set it to toggle torch or something, the button worked.
But youtube crashed, there was no lock screen, I didn't get notifications, there was no google play services or app store, and I couldn't log into google among many other things. What did I do wrong?
Also, everything looked very small, like it was designed for smaller phones then adapted for the larger screen without changing theme, font, etc. size proportionally. This is just personal preference maybe, not an issue for say.
I Used my nandroid and went back to stock rooted rom, but I don't wanna keep it this way. What should I do to make this successful for when I try this again?

I just moved from Likewise S5 4.2 to SlimKat 8.20 weekly 8135. I don't have the home button issue you post, nor the issues with youtube, lockscreen, notifications, or app store. My only challenge with logging into my Google account was due to use of 2 factor authentication on my part.
The smaller font size was an issue for me so I grabbed texdroider_dpi from the play store and reset the DPI to 320 (stock for S3). Now it is more comfortable for my eyesight.
I'm on the NE4 bootloaders and modem as well. I used TWRP 2.8.3.0 to flash the weekly and full slimgaaps following the slimkat install directions linked in the OP.
Hope this helps...

No Service
Thanks for the 9.0
but i have issue. i have my signal on my device but it says no signal. I cant use my mobile data just using wifi.
[Q] how does slimkat determine carrier name?
I use a mvno (Consumer Cellular) which is on AT&T's towers. When I ran my phone on Likewise 4.2 it reported the carrier as Consumer Cellular. Now that I'm on slimkat it reports it as AT&T. I'm using the same APN settings as when I was on Likewise.
I can edit the carrier name and have done so, but I'm curious as to how slimkat is determining the carrier for the mobile data tile.
thanks
Got 9.0 to work today. But it says I only have 12.05 GB total on my 16gb phone. Where did those 4gb go? I know Slimkat didn't take up that much. It seems like it should say 4gb used on system or something instead of just not being there.

Thank you, I had thisno data issue on a few ROMS but couldn't figure it out. This post solved my problems
Can I upgrade from 7.0 to 9.0 without any wipe?
OK. Question about a few problems I've noticed.
1) My compass doesn't work. Tried calibrating it multiple times but never moves in some programs and in others it just jumps around.
2) my Bluetooth audio (music, etc.) Is scratchy.
3) in call volume is sometimes at maximum and you can't use the side buttons to adjust it. It requires using the button to bring up the on-screen volume control and then adjusting using that.
4) I get an error from titanium backup about the version of the su binary being old.

Jas anything been said about this...? What about dual SIM, is there anyone that has flashed this and had that option working as well?

Meizu 16th - about, how to root and Gapps.

Phone is beautiful. Latest hardware and in screen fingerprint sensor. You have to hold it in your hands and then you will understand...
Problem. Meizu does not unlock bootloader and gives root only to models with Chinese firmware. Why? I do not know... And do not care. Where there is will there is a way.
I want to thank members from 4pda.ru and google translate for helping me root my 16th.
Bought a global version and it is nice. But the most important things to me like xposed app settings and titanium backup require root privilege. I was forced into flashing Chinese firmware.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is step by step tutorial for installing Chinese firmware A.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Be warned there are only ENGLISH and CHINESE languages to choose for you user interface.
1. Make a backup. Still have to explore that, maybe google backup.
2. Head over to https://www.flyme.cn/firmwarelist-174.html#3
3. Download firmware:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
4. Transfer or move update.zip to your root folder of internal storage.
5. Shut down.
6. Hold Power and Volume up together. Phone will boot into stock recovery.
7. Update the system. Selecting "Clear data" will delete all personal data ( such as Notes, Email, and Contacts); whereas the internal storage for Music and Camera photos ...etc. will remain intact.
8. The process took 10 minutes and i was a happy Chinese firmware A user.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Google services. I used google installer for xiaomi 3.0
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Go to https://xiaomifirmware.com/downloads/download-google-installer-3-0-xiaomi/
2. Find Google Installer 3.0 for Locked Bootloader and download apk.
3. Open and start.
4. I had to restart the process few times. Close and click again till it installs all 6 of services.
5. I manually installed Google play and calendar from Play store if i remember correctly.
-----------------------------------
Root.
-----------------------------------
Since i completed my root rights through online application i can not supply all of the pictures.
Be aware. You can obtain root rights only by having Chinese firmware A version and through online aplication. They work from Monday to Friday and you will not be authorized on Saturday and Sunday. Like me. Applied Friday and waited till Monday morning and boom. Root rights.
1. Best to do it from phone. You must have or create Meizu flyme account and id. Settings, account info...
2. Download root tool apk from meizu. https://mroot.flyme.cn/download.html and install.
3. In Root tool there are PSN and CHIPID identifiers needed for completing authorization.
4. Go to https://mroot.flyme.cn/ and click:
5. Next click
6. Next click
7. Now you are finally there.
8. Fill in the form:
9. Used bunch of numbers for phone number 12345678901
Wrote i needed xposed and titanium backup under reason.
10. Last click.
When they approve your root rights you will be able to click root in the roottool app which contains PSN and CHIPID values. Phone will restart and you will have root rights. If i remember correctly.
If you need any help do not hesitate to ask. If i wrote something wrong share your correcttions.

goddam, 7 euros!? lol hell no, screw it! I'm using the default silicon case and it's pretty elegant + ordered a pare of glass for $2 which is a lil more wide.
The one the seller sent me is as yours, but for some reason I couldn't apply it well or something, it has bubbles near the corner - it's irritating. And making the whole picture sad, so I'm waiting for that glass now, but 7 euros for a piece of glass is a little too much for me right now.

Meizu should release kernel source for their Global Variants. We on the West side of the world have to play with free things. No reason to root chinese device and not Global that should be a lot more free devices

I'm not that much obout geography, but hell yeah! That's simply knida stupid: making a closed system for global version while letting it free at chinese market + having a possibility to flash A version and get that damn root lol.
It's like a virgin who's dreaming of a man! :S
PS somehow it's only a gender joke I had in my mind - wonder if Freud has something to say about this.

Um... well, one is an app, something like a comunity where ppl post discounts and hot deals, etc. They have private messages + activities notifications. Tho I never got one, had to check on email to know if someone pmed me.
No other app I had a problem with so far. Still, I'm using only fb / messanger / whatsapp actively, lemme check other apps now.
---------- Post added at 11:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:17 PM ----------
Yeah, inbox doesn't send notifications. That's a pity actually, gotta deal with it somehow.
---------- Post added at 11:21 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:19 PM ----------
Nothing else I can tell right now. I get notifications from other apps that are crucial to me.

Just read a post where is said that root option for global version was cut because of google sertification requirements.

not that i know of!
I think we shall wait fro chinese first. If they will release the method to unlock a bootloader, I guess it won't be a problem to flash any firmware after twrp installed. At least, I think so and hope it is so.
So, if someone would watch after chinese news, that'd be great. I'll keep me eyes on 4pda
