The sleep and app info when you long press on an app on the home screen is gone in Android oreo. This is very inconvenient as i used these options very often. Specifically sleep. Anyone know where i can find the sleep option? i know you can get to app info from settings. I've done searches and i can't find anything

Hi, I'm looking for a good app that locks my apps and enables access with a pattern unlock.
I was using one called 'App Lock', which I really liked, but I found that it severely drained my battery in standby mode by causing loads of wake locks. One night I had 101435 wakelocks caused by this app alone.
Does anybody use a similar app that they find good?
Thanks, John
I use "Smart App lock", search that in play store.. quite good and not so heavy on battery life too..
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Tasker can do it (and so much more)
smart app lock works perfect for me
i had the same problem of the OP (app lock give me 380 alarm rings in 30 seconds)
and smart app lock solved my life
You may give HI App Lock a try

Smart Home Screen & Application Locker (With Guest Mode access)
There are more than 250 App Locks in the Google Play marketplace. How is this one different, all the features seem to be the same in each of the app.
We developed an app that would solve one of the biggest issues with app lockers. When I use app lock on my phone, it does not mean that I can keep the home scree of the phone unlocked. Therefore, when I want to you use a protected app (protected by any app locker from the market), I would first need to unlock the home screen and then unlock the app. This two step process becomes too tedious when a user has to use any app frequently. For example, in case you are chatting with a person, the replies do not come soon enough that you are chatting on run time basis, so the app and the screen get locked. You would need to open both of them in order to reply to the chat message.
We came up with a solution that is combination of an app lock as well as a home screen lock. The user can select all the apps that he wants to keep locked and private. The user then creates a master password/ PIN/ Pattern and a Guest Password/PIN/Pattern. When the home screen is unlocked using the master password, all the protected apps get automatically unlocked along with the home screen. So when you are using your own phone, you do not have to input two passwords.
In case someone borrows your phone, or want to just have a look at it or make a small call; give them your Guest Password/ PIN/ Pattern. The home screen will open with this Guest Password, but all your protected apps continue to be locked.
We believe that such a combination is not available on any of the apps that are marketed. Therefore, we went ahead and filed a patent on it as well. We hope you would like the app. You can download it for free from https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pluggdd.SmartAppLocker

App Master Lock & Boost:highfive:
Smart app Lock , search in google playstore
Hello,
is there a way i can disable the screen to turn on with the wrist move ?
This auto screen power on , on wrist move is killing my battery, especially when i'm driving.
I want to switch on the screen only on tapping the screen.
Thanks a lot
I'm pretty sure there's not... yet. The O/S is pretty immature though. I'll bet that before long there will be apps or mods that will allow such basic O/S customization.

I suppose there is not a way to disable the heart meter , pedometer or see what app run on the background and disable it ?
I found the way to disable these. Look in the 360 development forum.
If you find the package that listens for wrist motion, I can take a look at disabling the component that turns it on.
I got a little more info about this last night when I did a logcat on the watch. I'm going to speak with someone more knowledgeable to see what we can do with that info.
You should watch the mods post in the 360 development forum for more info.
A easy solution is the Theater mode.
You can access this setting by swiping down, and once to the left. Now you have to press the button to wake your smartwatch.
The only disadvantage is that your watch is not vibrating anymore when getting new messages.
I hope this will help you.
Isn't this controlled by "Tilt to wake screen". You have to access through the phone.

I'm not 100% sure, since I've had my 360 for less than a week... But seeing the date of this question about tilt to wake was from the end of last year.. It could ha e been implemented since then. You can disable it in the settings from the Android Wear app on you're Android phone.
Go to settings there is an option to turn it off......
I plan to use my old note 2 as a carPC.
Will likely only be using it for media, GPS, and read my OBD2.
Needs to be compatible with the Tasker app (not sure if an issue or not) and the OTG-Y cable.
Need to be able to disable lock screen entirely, be able to have homescreen rotation, and on screen navigation.
Would appreciate any input!
TIA!
Alright, now I'm running LiquidSmooth 4.4.4
Has built-in option for on-screen navi. Working great.
Installed an app correctly named 'screen rotation' and does exactly what I need.
Enabled developer option so I could enable stay awake while charging.
Discovered I could disable the lock options entirely (sorry, company has had me on iPhone for awhile now).
Still trying to find something to allow double tap screen for sleep on/off. Recommendations please.
Going to test Tasker here in a moment.
Don't have an OTG-Y cable to test with this ROM. Can anyone confirm?

Check out the Xposed module named DoubleTapToSleep. It allows you to turn off the screen by double tapping on the status bar. It works pretty well. The original thread for it is below.

Thanks!
That looks like it would almost work. I still need to awake via tap as well.
All the buttons will be covered.
Only need it for night driving really. Quick and easiest way I can think of.

I haven't seen any apps that turn on the screen by tapping on it for a Samsung device. You could use an app that turns on the screen by tapping on the proximity sensor.

Can't find it anywhere on the phone. I have enabled double tap to sleep but would like the function to wake also.
Anyway of getting it?

This feature is Kernel related and I think would not be available for us with mediatek processors.
ME also was pretty disappointed when I didn't find in display settings.
But fortunately we have a solution for that ?
Just download and install the below given app...
App Name - Smart Screen on/off
Download it from Playstore only.
Enable it in administrators. Enable it in apps with usage as well.
Finally choose the correct settings for you from in app settings.
Also add phone app in its exception list.
Enjoy and good luck.
There are several of these apps on the play store with same name however I've just tried one and it only allowed you to turn off the screen with a double tap and not wake the device this way.
Tried a couple of these apps and they seem to only offer double tap to sleep which is already available on the phone.
For the life of me I can't figure this out. Energy morning when I wake up the alarm didn't sound but it's set properly. I also unlock the phone and it says "phone starting" as though it rebooted or went into deep sleep. I can't figure out what's going on. Can anyone help me with where to look in settings?
Are you using the built-in Clock app or a third party alarm app? You may want to check to make sure that battery optimization is off for whatever app you're using. Go to settings > Apps and click the 3 dots in the top right, then tap "Special Access" and go to Optimize battery usage. Make sure the app you're using is not set to optimize battery use
Any luck finding the problem with this??
........
Have you tried a factory reset? The phone starting again is weird
