Hey guys.
I recently picked up a Moto Z play for about $AU320 online from a Chinese store.
I didn't realize it would be different from the version I'd get here in Australia (yes very careless of me not to research)
I'd like to get it as close as possible to a stock Australian Moto ZP .
Here are some details -
Model Number - Moto Z Play
Software Variant - retcn
Software Channel - retcn
Android ver - 6.0.1
Security Patch - July 2016
Build Number - MCN24-5
Could I somehow set it up so it gets OTA security updates or is that a bridge too far?
Thanks for any help - appreciate it more than you could know.
I did the whole root/roms thing with my old S3 but that was a long time ago.
I think my bootloader might already be unlocked? Couldn’t download Netflix from play store.
It’s a brilliant phone. The battery blows my mind after coming from a 5X.
Extra info - XT1635-03
Good afternoon!
I have the existential doubt, I want to give my girlfriend a Moto Z2 Force, but I find no version that is free of factory, only find those who are with the U.S. AT&T operator. And then there comes my doubt, you can change the firmware of a Moto Z2 force of AT&T by one that is free? Of the same version? XT1789-04 Because I found a page where there are firmaware ready to download the same version, with Android 7.1 and 8, but I'm afraid to buy the phone that I get to try to perform some procedure with any of these Firmware and then I left with a cute p ISA $400.00-dollar papers.:crying::crying:
I hope you can help me,
greetings and thank you very much to all!
I have purchased my Honor Pro 8 in India while traveling here. It is an unlocked phone with an Indian monthly cash card from Vodaphone.
There is an OTA Orep update available here in India now for this Indian SIM card, BUT... if I would install the Oreo update here in Indian on the Indian SIM, will it continue to work in my native SIM card I use regularly in Sweden; also a monthly cash card, unlocked
I worry that it could disable or BRICK my phone making it useless.
Is the Oreo update Indian specific for Indian SIMs, or can it work when I return home and put in my Swedish SIM.
...AND...if not..when is the projected roll out for that Oreo update for Sweden ?
Thanks for your help
RL
Hi there,
I am no expert by any means. But I will try to answer.
Your question seems to have a flaw in itself. You bought the H8Pro in India which means the device is tuned for Indian networks, no doubt. Will it work in Sweden? It must work, because it seems to support all global network bands.
Regarding Oreo update, if you thought that Nougat would work in Sweden, why not Oreo? And Oreo is not tied to any sim. It is specific to the device and not the networks. So you can go ahead and update to Oreo and enjoy its features. Bests.

Thanks for your reply...so you are saying it SHOULD work regardless of whatever SIM card is used; even if it will be from another country soon...I just don't want to update it here only to find out that for some reason it won't work in Sweden, and in fact, could shut my phone down....you're absolutely sure about this ??
The only reason your phone wouldn't work at home is if the phone isn't compatible with the network bands in Sweden. Your phone cannot be bricked or disabled by the software. Hell, I am running Chinese firmware on my phone and I live in Canada. This phone isn't even sold here!
Dear all,
I have just bought the LG G7 ThinQ LM-G710EMW (Indian Dual Sim 4GB/64GB Variant) which came preinstalled with June 2018 security patch. I can see many of my fellow users have got the OTA update of October security patch with 4K 60FPS support. However I am not able to get the same update. Even if I check manually in update center, it just says that 'You are using the latest software version for current OS'.
I even installed LG Bridge app on my Windows machine and it just gives a message 'Your phone is up to date'. I want to update my phone to the October patch, please help me.
Thanks

Are you sure that you're not already updated? It can sometimes update over night. Sometimes easy to miss
Hi, does anyone got the Feb 1 security update?
The page with a description is available on Indian page.
I have xxx-16-2 Indian firmware on my phone, but there's no OTA discovered as of now.
