After some time without using my phone, my wifi disconnects from the network (and switches off, also wifi scanning turns off!)
as soon as i use it, the wifi suddenly turns on (but i can see on the display that it was off)
I'm on beta4 (clean flash) but the same issue happened on the previous betas too.
this only happened on my 5T but never happened on my 3t
it's very annoying because
- my cloud uploads stop (they are planned to work only on wifi)
- my tasker profiles (based on wifi-near) switch to the outdoor profile (so during the night of in my office, the volume sets to the maximum)
i know what you are thinking but:
my wifi is always on
my battery optimization is off
i've read many users complaining about this issue but nobody seems to have found a solution...
I guess: Settings - Developer Options - Doze mode

Guys the battery on my s6 edge has been draining just by sitting here. Anyone else having this issue?
Sent from my SM-G925T using XDA Free mobile app
Yeah I've been seeing some serious battery drain. Way more than I'd expect with the battery size. Not sure what's going on.
Turning on your Wifi will kill your battery. I've had to restart my phone to make it stop sometimes. Makes me wonder if this is why the nexus skipped 5.0.2.
That may very well be the reason why nexus skipped it. Juding by the previous samsung record, it will be a while till we get 5.1

Did you have Wifi on at any point since your last restart? I've had to reboot the device to fix it.
Try turning off volte. That seems to help.

This is what i hate so much... you pay ridiculous amount of money to buy a "Smartphone" but then you have to turn all these features of to make it work efficiently.
I'm sure it's just a software bug on T-Mobile, but I was able to fix my issue by turning off WiFi, completely charging the phone, and restarting. WiFi is what causes it, not sure why though.

Go to settings and search for "Phone" from there you can get into call settings.
google services for me is using the most battery, which doesn't make sense.

Did you also disable the "wifi during sleep" that is used even if wifi is off? Can't remember where it is. Maybe advanced Wifi or in Location settings. Just curious. Thanks!

Gotcha. I was curious but also sort of pointing out that even with Wifi turned off, the phone will still use Wifi for location unless you specifically disable that option. It may or may not make any difference at all, but since there's a bug then it's possible that ANY use of wifi is draining more than it should (even if it's just intermittently every few minutes for location checking).

If the WiFi being used during sleep is causing any issues, the issue is small enough that it is not showing up on my battery usage page.

Well for example. I have had Wifi turned off since before unplugging my phone this morning (8 hours ago). Despite that, it has been used for 29 minutes because I didn't have that option (use wifi for location even when it's off) disabled.
Because of this, I'm disabling that location feature as well for now. I bet that's about 30 minutes my phone has been held "awake" due to this stupid bug!

If it's causing issues for you then turn it off. For me it wasn't enough of an issue to disable WiFi during sleep.

if you go to call options in the settings menu or you can go to the oem dialer and click on more in the upper right hand corner of the screen the option for it should be under setting in that drop down menu

Assuming you are on 5.0.1 Lollipop, did you factory reset after the update? Many people have experienced problems after the update but have seen factory resets correct problems.
While on the wifi settings page (the screen where you find the list of wifi networks available), touch the three dots in the upper right corner and select Advanced.
Uncheck (turn off) the option to "Always allow scanning"
You can also turn off the first option of Network notification to stop it from trying to find open networks in range.
hope this helps.

Thanks for the response,
I am on 5.0.1, I did factory reset twice, Cleaned cache multiple times
"Always allow scanning" is already turned off
Network notification is also turned off (unchecked)
Funny thing is , I put the phone in Airplane mode (wifi off too) for a while and battery graph still shows WiFi on and phone awake

The Wifi thing is a lollipop bug.
It'll always show as on even when it's off.

That bug must not hit every lollipop phone because my wifi doesn't show as on all the time. When it's off, it's off.

Weird... mine does.
Are you running any special apps (like battery savers)? What Wifi settings are you using? Is Power Saving Mode on or off?
I'm curious now. But yeah, several Note 4 users on the non-ATT Note 4 thread are reporting this issue as well and so were many Nexus users.

No battery savers or apps designed to conserve battery; power saving modes off. All I did to wifi settings was turn off scanning and notification. I have a long list of apps that I disabled since I knew for sure I wasn't going to use them. I screenshot them below if you're interested.

Ok I was wrong. My phone doesn't show wifi always on. I kept wifi off all day and it showed correctly. BUT I think it did show as always awake on the previous Lollipop update. (I'm on COC4 now).
And btw, I have all the same apps turned off as you except Samsung Push Service because it seems to not sync S Note with my Samsung account (I have a Note tablet too) and Amazon because I use it.
Update
I did some further digging , based on the amount of battery used.
1. Cerberus App was using a lot of battery, so uninstalled and re-installed it... the Constant AWAKE problem is gone
waiting a few days to make sure that problem was really gone
2. Uninstalled "LLAMA" app and now WiFi does NOT show as always on
Having the exact same issue on my galaxy s6. Just turned on clash after picking up the phone and the resolution looks like as compared to my joke Moto X (2013). It's worst when zoomed way out and fine when zoomed way in. Maggie everywhere. What the **** supercell.
Hi,
When I go to sleep, I turn off all connectivity (meaning WIFI, BT, LTE) but for some reason, the battery screen shows that WIFI was always on during the night, even though it's not showing on the list (the list where you have screen, Android OS, voice calls, etc.).
Images attached. The segment indicated between the red lines shows the night time, when the WIFI was off. You'll see that WIFI is turned on, but that's because I turned it on in the morning.
Initially I thought that it had something to do with location scanning as the same would happen on my Nexus 4 when WIFI scanning for location was on (in the advanced settings). So I found the option on my Nexus 5X (in the location screen now), and it was actually turned off. I toggled it (on and off) just in case and checked again, and of course that didn't help.
Anyone here knows what to do?
Thanks.

9:30 pm every night and it fails randomly. No pattern.
I just got my mate 20 comeing from a mate 9 and there are a few niggly bugs to iron out.
1. screen brightness keeps reverting to auto
2. notification sound for apps like ebay and amzon not working (i think this was an oreo issue and now a pie issue. could even be app devlopers not optimising apps yet)
3. no random wallpaper option for this phone. dont want to use a third party app.
4. not easy to set custom sound options for individual apps
will list more as i find them
Anyone found any others?
The widgets were frozen once. I needed to change the screen resolution to bring it back to life.
Favorites contacts eratic when sorting, sort will not always stick, but it was the same with previous EMUI on my Mate 9.
For the auto brightness I think AI and energie saver do that on purpose. Got the same.
I got random wallpaper on lock screen.
Really, I love this phone!

I'm finding that my accessibility services keep getting turned off. I turn on services like Lastpass Autofill and Greenify automated hibernation, but they turn themselves off sometime later for no reason.
For the auto brightness reset issue, it always happen to me after a software update, but not at random
I'm also trying to play Drastic DS Emulator with Google Drive cloud sync to backup my saves, but the sync function is broken on this phone. It says nothing needs to be synced, when I upload it sends a 0 Byte file to my drive. EDIT: I think I fixed the problem, my WiFi was too slow. After deleting the data on Drive and reuploading the save file it worked
4 notification option is a lot harder to set due to Android9. My Note9 on Android9 is quite similar.

You can fix the brightness issue with adb removing the power genius application, this also fixed the auto dimming in manual mode. It also fixed an issue with background colour being a little gradient on a few apps.
I did this with My mate 20 Pro
ADB shell pm uninstall --user 0 com.huawei.powergenie

Non root, the only thing that's missing is the software usage in battery usage, the hardware usage is there. But you can see the app usage from the app settings.
I have noticed that the phone stays in optimised performance, I was having a issue with background on Huawei video and YouTube where after playing a video it was gradiented shades of the colour, this is fixed now. Also Google photos used to take a second to load in but now they load straight up.
I get about 8.5 to 9 hr screen on time that was with YouTube and Facebook which drains the battery a bit.
It's always possible to restore the genie app with a hard reset. The power genie is a supposed to help battery but is more annoying than anything though.

I also noticed small bug in the short weekend I had the device: I have the option to turn on the screen at each notification (because of the pretty small notification LED). On 2 occasions I had the screen turn on with a notification, then turn off briefly and turn back on with a black background and just the digital clock. I have the screensaver deactivated and pressing the unlock button fixes the bug.
I have issues with continuously disconnecting my Xiaomi Amazfit Bip smartwatch. I had LG G6 and never had this kind of issue. I tried to set Auto-launch , Secondary-launch and Run in background options for Mi Fit app on but to no avail. This makes my smartwatch half useless.

I just received my Mate 20 Lite and I'm having the same problem with my Samsung Gear S3 randomly disconnecting from the phone - which is annoying for so many reasons, not least because I am used to the watch unlocking my Galaxy S7.
I'm guessing that the BT is simply timing out to save battery but is there anyone who can confirm this and also is there a way to fix it?
