Strange problem with dual SIMs - Elephone P8000

Hello
I tried flashing my p8000 but i was not careful and did not flash correctly. I had problems with TWRP and ROMs.
I spent a lot of hours making things work and i finally i got a stable TWRP with a stock ROM working. Problem was that i lost both IMEIs and could not use the SIMs.
I started searching for solutions (chamelephon, MTK Droid Tools) but nothing seemed to work. I came across a post stating to sent specific commands from android terminal and i finally managed to make the phone showing the 2 IMEIs.
So far so good but again i cannot make both SIMs to work. Only the SIM that has cellular data connection is working. If I switch data to other sim card, the previous sim stops seeing network and second sim is working.
Anyone has any idea?
Cheers
ps. Also, not sure if I am correct or this has to do anything at all, the MP0B_001 file is stored in the path /NVDATA/NVRAM/MD/NVRAM/NVD_IMEI/MP0B_001 from the root directory (NOT root folder) and not in the path ROOT//NVDATA/NVRAM/MD/NVRAM/NVD_IMEI/MP0B_001 as stated in a guideline.

Hi, you can only use one sim on 3g/4g and the second on 2g. I had the same issue in the UK. For example the Three network sim only works with 3g/4g connection as this is the requirement of the network operator. I have 2 of their sims and only one can be connected to a 3g/4g network and the other does not support 2g therefore gets no signal. For your case if one of the sims can operate in a 2g network then assign the 3g to the other and the 2g on this one.

[Solved] Your sim card does not allow a connection to this network

Solved for me @ post #5 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10865272&postcount=5
I've searched, read, and called my mobile provider (3 UK) to no avail, so I'm starting a fresh thread on this issue.
Relevant details:
Nokia E65 + 3 PAYG sim = ok
HTC Desire unlocked (from T-Mobile) + 3 PAYG sim = "Your sim card does not allow a connection to this network"
HTC Desire above, + O2 + Virgin sim = ok
From what I've learned this has nothing to do with Android os, ROM or RUU etc., and is purely a setting/sim/connection/whatever problem. Or is it?
I bought an unlocked T-mob-branded Desire which works with o2/virgin sims, but selecting my 3 network results in the "Your sim card does not allow a connection to this network" message - yet same sim is fine in my Nokia. Which I cannot work out as that implies it's a combination of phone+network, surely?
When I first got the phone, unpacked it, 3 sim in, it worked, so I rooted w. Unrevoked it and it still worked, then I Nandroid-backup'd (which I still have), then I tried I think Cyan rom 6ish, and Oxygen 2 rc6 with a Goldcard in place [goldcard has nothing to do with sim/connection, just flashing, correct?], no service/not allowed on network; same with oxygen rom. So I nandroided-restored and still no luck.
I unrooted by RUU-ing with:
RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00. 32U_5.11.05.27_release_signed.exe
(I'm on 3 so tried RUU_Bravo_H3G_UK_1.22.771.1_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.
02_2_release_127568_signed.exe to get a '3-rom'd phone' but I can't downgrade-which is fine by me)
so I'm back to Froyo 2.2 stock/whatever it's called, and no luck still. I mention this as I'm sure all this rom-ing has absolutely nothing to do with it but would like to be clear.
Has anyone any idea what causes this occur - not connecting that is - would 'disconnecting from network, romming, loading a new rom w/ sim, connecting and getting maybe kicked off' be the case? Or is this certainly a problem with the sim and this phone and the network; or can somehow a phone be unlocked only on certain rom and not transfer (certain this is not correct) to another - unbranding via goldcard + RUU 2.29..... has been done numerous times by people yet I seem to get this problem.
Long post, but if someone can definitely help it would be greatly appreciated - while comments like 'have you rebooted' are nice, yes, I have many many times, wipes settings, factory restored data, input apn settings, *#4636#*#* doesn't show anything I can really find of use (I tried selecting GSM only, WCDAM only, neither work) and I've tried manually/automatically connecting to network but am plagued with my "Your sim card does not allow a connection to this network" message. Which ultimately makes my £300 phone as much use as an iPhone 4 being held wrong.
I cannot understand how my sim worked before on the same phone, but now after tinkering (nothing of which I think can effect this problem) it's not working again. Apart from my old Nokia.
goto *#*#4636#*#* and post your signal strength (in dbm) and LAC and CID values. It will also be good if you could attach output of logcat -b radio.
This is a well known problem with a no known answer.
Is the number stored correctly - i.e. it hasn't lost the '+' from a number starting 44?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I had the same problem two weeks ago when I returned from my holidays. I put in my 3 UK sim and it refused to connect with that same error. Sim worked perfectly in other phones.
Finally 3 UK advised me to do a factory reset on my from the Settings->Storage menu which resolved the issue. You seem to have done a full restore from a RUU which probably should be equal to doing a factory reset. But it's probably worth while doing it anyway in case the issue was with the /data or cache partition which for some reason might not have been cleaned by the RUU.
Well, I *think* I've fixed this (for me at least) - just waited a few days and tested to make sure it wasn't a 'ymmv' quick quip fix.
Basically, I'm on 3 - 3G only - and phone was set to 'WCDMA (3G) preferred' - with low signal/reception (-113dbm) it seemingly tries to get the 2G signals around (Orange-whom 3 piggyback[ed] on in low 3G areas; and O2) while changing to 'WCDMA Only' forced it to only try 3G networks - 3.
So, try this:
Key in, but don't 'call': *#*#4636#*#*
Select Phone Information
Near bottom, Set preferred network type to: WCDMA Only
Fixed it for me instantly. Three mobile UK still has -111dbm as it's best reception here but now at least I can connect to it
Let me know if this fixes it for you (clearly, if you're on a 2G-only network selecting GSM only (2G) may work).
checked your IMEI matches from *#06# and the back of the phone?
Yep, IMEIs match. I think it's (been) purely a network choice/connection issue, at least for me.
hi all. I was as usual using my xperia j but 3g signal was low so I installed signal booster app and after boosting signal the app asked with a popup window to enter network unlock password. I without thinking anything entered 12345 and after this it said wrong network password. since this happened I am getting error on Xperia J (st26i) that your sim doesn't allow connection to this network. I tried with many sims but no signal. It always shows all networks when search for network manually. But gives that above mentioned error when trying to connect to any searched network. I checked if my imei is blacklisted but there's no problem about imei. its clean. I flashed stock rom, custom rom but nothing helped. how to solve this strange error.
Mehul (nope imei does not match)

I posted that six years ago. I have no idea what my thought process was tbh

FreedomPop UK sim card

This was first flagged up by @ShootistUK on the Eragon ROM development thread but thought I would open a thread for it here as the other thread is getting long and is probably not the place to discuss this sim card.
Mine arrived today and I have spent many hours trying to get it working in my phones(Galaxy S3, Moto G 4G as well as the P8000) - I did manage to send and receive a text and make a call after installing their own messaging app(which they tell you to do) but so far have not managed to get data working at all despite it being basically a 3UK sim so it should use the same apn I would guess. I already have 3 other 3UK sims so am quite well versed in getting them working but so far the freedompop one has defeated me!
Hopefully ShootistUK will let us know if he has had any success(I doubt or if there is anyone else who has one of these sims please let me know.
Well, you have had more success than me. I fail to even get the application to work. It always gives me an error about using up all my premium minutes (or something similar) and to turn wifi off which does nothing at all to help. However I cannot get my 3-2-1 sim from 3 to work unless I make it the default data sim which pretty much defeats the object of having the sim in the phone alongside my vectone unlimited sim.
Hmmm, interesting - so your main sim is your vectone one(which is an EE mvno) - The problem with the 3 sim is that it cannot function in 2G mode and the p8000 doesn't allow you to run both sim slots in 3G mode so you are going to lose some functionality somewhere. What is your ideal setup by the way? I suspect it's not going to be achievable unfortunately...I am currently running my 3-2-1 sim as default for data/sms/calls and have a Vodafone payg as backup in case there's no 3 signal(so really for calls and the odd text too. I also have a tpo sim which I could use for backup but I don't think I can use the FP + 3-2-1 together and in fact can't even get the FP one fully working by itself. I may try again tomorrow in a different location in case it was a case of weak signal?? I'm sure I saw that error too but I'll see if I can replicate that issue again!
Well I have got both sims functioning at the moment by enabling default data sim as the 3-2-1 sim (but disabling data in the other menu so it doesnt use the data connection) and relying on wi-fi at home and work. At least this way I can receive and make calls/texts on both sims even though I can not use mobile data on the vectone sim and do not want to use the data on the payg sim. This is not in anyway a perfect solution but I suppose an issue with dual sim phones.
Yes, that's not ideal I guess but at least the vectone sim functions in 2G mode, I don't think it's possible to get two 3-2-1 sims working together.
Well I will now see if I can get my 3 pay monthly sim to work in the phone instead of the 3-2-1 sim using the same method. Just very annoying that they only work together if I have disabled data on the vectone and enabled and disabled the data on the 3-2-1 sim. Is there anyway to get the 3-2-1 sim and another sim working together with the data set to the non 3-2-1 sim? I like vectone for the price but willing to get another provider if I can get them to co-exist.
So you enable the data in the sim cards settings and disable in the data usage section, is that correct?
Simple answer is yes, make the 3-2-1 sim the preferred data sim and then disable the data in the data usage menu. Then both sims work for calls and sms. If i need mobile data I then make the vectone sim the data sim which turns the 3-2-1 sim off.
yeah that's a bit of a clunky solution but it's the only one that'll work unfortunately but you won't be able to get 2x 3UK sims working on 3G/4G at the same time I suspect...

Can't place or receive calls; LTE data and SMS works fine

Hey guys, just unwrapped my new N5x and popped in my sim card. Yet for some reason I can't make or receive any calls!
Calls to me go straight to voicemail, and when making an outgoing call it either immediately says call ended or after a while says network unavailable.
The strange thing is that the entire time I'm connected to LTE (full bars) and data works fine (I can use chrome), and I can even send and receive SMS!
It's been like this straight out of the box. I reset the network settings, then factory reset the device, then upgraded to 6.0.1, rinsed and repeated with no luck.
Probably related: I tried setting the phone from LTE preferred to 3G or 2G but it still says connected to LTE. Even did it manually from the *#*#4636#*#* and nothing changed.
I'm using HOT Mobile in Israel and the American version of the phone. All bands are here are supported.
Any thoughts on how to proceed?
Do US specifc models of phones normally work fine in Israel?
I know I had these symptoms when I managed to accidentally swap my UK model to use USA bands. Only potential difference is that I don't think SMS worked for me.
If someone more knowledgeable knows where the "Network settings reset" pulls values from and to, that might help.
Or which partition holds the data that makes a US phone a US version and an EU phone an EU version (assuming it isn't hardware), we could potentially flash stuff.
Yeah they do. I have a friend with a 5x and his phone is working fine. :/
Check your apn settings, re add them again to test.
Maybe your network do not support lte calls, try it on 3g. This was my solution even thought my network supported volte and worked on s6 but not on my 5x.
I see you tried the 3g option, my problem was another app causing the conflict between lte and 3g. Able to source for another spare sim to try?
I deleted the apn settings - no luck. tried 2 different service providers and same results with both
I havnt installed anything yet and wiped the phone to be sure. Could a stock app be causing the conflict? How can I check?
did you try having your friend put his sim in your phone and yours in his to see if it works?
Yep - he's on the same service provider that I am. Didn't work. Also tried a Sim card from a different service provider.
Here is a solution if you still need it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64023143&postcount=10

Dual SIM Issue

Hello there,
Im getting trouble to get the dual sim working properly.
First of all my setup : OOS 3.2.7, rooted, some xposed modules, nothing fancy. Stock kernel
SIM1: Data SIM, o2 germany
SIM2: Just used to receive some texts, all APNs deleted, Carrier : Orange/Sosh France
In normal usage SIM1 is deactivated. In this case everything works flawlessly.
As soon as I activate SIM2 i run into trouble. I loose data on SIM1 almost instantly and the only way to recover it is usually a reboot.
When i loose data the "LTE"/"H"/"3g"/whatever icon disappears, data is still on in the settings.
I noticed that at least once both sims were connected on UMTS when it occured.
Any clue to keep my data connection working when both sim cards are active?
Thank you in advance

Mobile data not working after switching from wifi

Hi guys just got redmi note 8 pro and almost every time I go out of reach of wifi my mobile data doesn't work. It happens also if I manually tuen off wifi. I have the H+ icon like it is connected but I don't have data connection. The issue is resolved if I go in and out of airplane mode then I have data connection again. If I just turn off and on data connection in the quick settings it does nothing. APN settings are set and working ok.
MIUI global 11.0.3.
did u find any solution.....
if you are using any 3rd party VPN or using custom DNS then please disable them and try again.
I had the same issue. I emailed Xiaomi's support and also posted it in the Mi community forum. Followed everything (except factory resetting the phone) but nothing was working.
Finally, I was able to find a solution that has fixed this issue for me (I've spent almost a day and haven't experienced it yet).
I was using a single SIM card on my phone. My SIM card only supported 3G network. After trying all the solutions, I grabbed another SIM card (of another network provider) and put it in the second SIM slot. This new SIM card also supports 4G LTE.
At this moment, my phone has 2 SIM cards. One supports only 3G and the other also supports 4G LTE. Though my default mobile data is still set to my original SIM card (3G).
After using two sims simultaneously, I've not experienced this issue again.
So I assume that Redmi note 8 Pro has a bug that doesn't allow mobile data to work properly if there is a single 3G SIM card present in the phone.
I have the same issue.
Works for sometime then suddenly no internet even when it's showing 4G+ sign. I have to turn off the data then on again to get it working which is annoying.
Same issue even with dual sim installed.
