I apologize in advance for the new/dumb questions.
My roomate bought a Samsung Galaxy S8+ a few months ago. It was unlocked. It's on the T-Mobile network.
I have a screenshot from the phone when it booted into recovery mode.
Says:
Android Recovery
samsung/dream2qlteue/dream2qlteue
7.0/NRD90M/G955U1UES2AQL1
Long story short:
Phone got wet. Sent to a cell phone repair place, (bought an offiical T-Mobile branded S8+ in the meantime), they fixed the phone and tested as best they could (but they didn't have SIM, etc.)
Anyway, got the phone back and it wanted to do a firmware upgrade as the new rollout is happening. Phone updated, but now it won't see 5Ghz WiFi.
I can't seem to figure out how to back-rev the firmware (it could be damaged phone, due to the water, but the 2Ghz WiFi works fine).
Anyway, boot into Recovery and it says:
7.0/NRD90M/G955USQS2BRB1
Down further, I notice in the boot stuff it'll say:
#MANUAL MODE v1.0.0#
-- Appling Multi-CSC...
blah blah
Applied the CSC-code: TMB
Successfuly applied multi-CSC
However, if I boot into download mode (Power, Vol Down, Bixby) it'll say the carrier is: XAA
I have the G955U1UES2AQL1 firmware for:
TMB
CSC
and
XAA
downloaded
Odin 3.12.10
But it won't apply the firmware as it'll give the model mismatch error
Did the latest firmware change the bootloader?
Again, sorry for the stupid questions, it's been a while since I've hacked a phone and stuff.
Thanks!
What combo file did you use? I have same model G955U1UES2AQL1 and I flashed G955USQU2AQK2 and get same error when ai try to flash back.

So, I'm in a bit of a pickle. I bought a T-Mobile S9 while I was in the US, and it was unlocked, so I proceeded and flashed the G960U1 XAA firmware on it. All was well and good, until a few days ago I just got a message that temporary unlock has expired and I need to restart the device. BAM! Phone is SIM locked again. Now, I'd like to unlock the phone permanently, but to do that I need a T-Mobile 'Device Unlock' app. So I went and downloaded a TMB firmware from http://www.imei.info/download-firmware/samsung/samsung-galaxy-s9/SM-G960U/TMB/?pda=G960USQU2ARF7 (it was a 4097MB download and SamFirm is giving me the same file size).
I flashed everything - BL, AP, CP, CSC (not HOME_CSC), USERDATA. Everything went fine, however, after the phone restarted, there was no T-Mobile splash screen, and no T-Mobile apps preloaded. Looking at Software Information, under Service Provider SW ver. I see 'XAA/XAA/TMB'. I also have a T-Mobile US SIM card in the phone (although I am currently in Europe if it makes a difference).
What gives? Is it a bootlader v2 issue? If so, what are my options? I tried installing an old version of T-Mobile Device Unlock app, but it said my device was not compatible with it.
Edit: I did the process once again following the steps in this post - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75899735&postcount=24 - and removing the Google account so there is no FRP lock. Result is still the same :/
I just got a galaxy s10+ from a friend who was on Tmoblie so it has the Tmoblie loading screen and apps. I would like to revert it back to the firmware CSC code XAA so I dont have to have the Tmoblie boot screen and apps. He didn't buy it from tmoblie its from an insurance company so I am pretty sure its unlocked. The app "Phone Info" says that Firmware's CSC code is XAA and the active one is TMB. I have tried to put in the *#272*IMEI# code into the phone but it just gives me an error code.
Is there anyway to revert it back to XAA without flashing the phone? Will I void the warranty if i flash the phone with official firmware? Also if I have to flash the phone where do I find XAA firmware as I only saw carrier firmware on SamMoblie.
Thanks for any help and very sorry if this has been posted a thousand times!
Also the phone model is SM-N975U / Galaxy Note10+
Device Type: d2q
Product Name: d2qsq
Bootloader Version: N975USQS6FUF1
CSC Version: N975UOYN6FUF1
Phone is on Android 11
I just flashed the phone and it all worked out. I used these threads to figure out the solution if anyone else is ever interested in how I solved this problem.
Note 10+ N975U carrier universal and unlocked models firmware.
Yep. I'm going to download the files just in case ,but wait a few days to see if anything happens.I'm curious if that was your issue all this time .

Odin Files/Guides For S21
Flashing S21 Ultra t-mobile branded to unlocked? Hi Everyone, I am a new samsung owner. I recently got s21 ultra t-mobile branded. It is now network unlocked. But i wanted to have a clean bloat free phone so wanted to have unlocked firmware. As i understand it, i need XAA G998-UA firmware...
forums.androidcentral.com
And I used this very kind user on Androidcentrals help. The context of my question is not needed but I basically asked if I was choosing the correct files.
"Yes use the firmware from frija , you will also need prince comsey patched Odin which download from XDA website, this will factory reset your device for first time , choose XAA as region with model number from unlocked version. (He is refering to the model number SM-N975U1) Put the device in download mode and make sure using a good cable and try 7zip to extract the firmware, odin, frija ...then after extract the the firmware you going take for files Cp/CSC,Bl,Ap and put in corresponding slots in odin and flash"
Converting your Unlocked device over to FirstNet firmware requires Patched Odin you need the v3.14.1 Patched version. You will also need the newest TMB (universal) carrier firmware, links below. Extract the zip when the download completes. You will not lose any data or factory reset during this process. You will need an ATT sim card.
S22
S22 Plus
S22 Ultra
Take your current S22 running the unlocked U1 firmware (don't skip this step, only U1 firmware can make the change to the ATT - CSC) and insert an ATT sim it has to be ATT not your FN Sim. If you don't have one you can try your local ATT store with a FirstNet rep and explain that you just need an unactivated ATT sim. If they give you any trouble, WalMart sells prepaid ones for $10.
Insert the ATT sim, you will get a pop-up explaining that the phone needs to restart to apply ATT settings. Let it restart. Once your phone is up and running, power it down.
Open Patched Odin and load up all the respective files from the folder you downloaded. Use BL, AP, CP and HOME_CSC (using the other CSC will factory reset and revert to XAA firmware.) now put your phone in download mode (boot up while holding power + vol up + vol down.) Once in download mode connect the phone via USB to your computer. Once Patched Odin recognizes the phone go ahead and flash. Your phone will reboot with an ATT logo. You can now swap back to the FN Sim.
Now you have a FirstNet S22.
Mod Edit: Quote removed since post removed.
Because FirstNet makes first responders priority when it comes data and cell service.
Mod Edit: Quote removed since post removed.
It's worth it if you are a first responder. To each their own.
Is there a way to do this with my unlocked A52 also?

I tried looking through other posts, maybe you can answer this for me. Once flashed, should OTA updates work?
I know att/FN can be picky with stuff. Everything should be good on my phone with the U software. Shows att/att/att/xaa

Good to know! I appreciate it.
Will flashing the att rom void my warranty?
Also can i revert back fr att to unlcoked rom? Thanks
I'm on Verizon now and would like to move to First Net. If I flash to ATT software, would I still be able to use the Verizon SIM until switching over, or would I need to move to ATT, then FirstNet? Also, If I flash the ATT Firmware, would I be able to reflash to the Samsung stock (XAA)? I don't mind extra steps, I just don't want to screw up my phone or service. Thank you.
I feel like I've done a big door.
I work in a cell repair shop and we had an ATT unlocked S20 FE that came in and I liked it so I bought it.
Long story short. I did some reading that you can install the XAA software using patched Odin. This was essential because I'm on Tmobile and didnt get 5G on the ATT firmware.
Easy enough. The device now has 5G access on Tmobile, and identifies itself as SM-G781U1/DS in settings.
The issue I'm facing is now unlocking the bootloader. The XAA firmware doesn't have the option and I'm unable to flash back to ATT firmware without (auth) fail errors in Odin and 'Secure boot check fail: PIT' on download mode.
Here's what I've tried that's failed so far:
- show option using time/date change
- software updating (I do receive OTA)
- flashing stock ATT firmware
- flashing stock TMB firmware
- Fastboot oem unlock (command not found)
- fastboot getvar unlocked (unlocked: no)
I'm about out of ideas, could use some guidance on where to begin looking next, I really like the power of this phone and wanna see what custom roms bring.
Device stats:
Galaxy S20FE SM-G781U (with U1 XAA flash)
CSC: ATT
Build: G781U1UESAGWC7
Service provider info:
G781U1_OYM_TMB_13_0011
TMB/TMB/ATT
Android 13, One UI 5.1
To be honest the custom rom screne for this phone is not so great yet. I imagine once the official support ends we will be getting some well developed custom roms.
As for the bootloader unlock issue, try using smartswitch to restore stock firmware, or try changing only the CSC if the firmware is multi-csc, the oem unlock option might reapper.
What kind of patched odin did you use to flash the XAA firmware? stock odin should be able to flash it too. As far as i am aware north american samsung phones do not offer oem unlock. The option probably dissapeared for good. There was etoken but since you are on android 13 i imagine the exploits have been already patched. You're basically stuck on XAA now. You can try using samkey to change the csc but i doubt that even that can help you oem unlock it.

for some reason Samsung doesn't allow bootloader unlocks in the US anymore. if as a phone repair guy you have the means force older firmware onto the device then you could pay someone to get an unlock token on the DL from a contact of theirs.
downgrading isn't something we can do at all hence me mentioning you maybe having access to resources others don't.
if you could get it onto the very first firmware you'd have a chance, if you can't there's no chance.
I would appreciate if anyone can point me to the right direction. I have 21FE G990U2 from AT&T, It is unlocked by AT&T.
All I need is working T-Mobile firmware or Samsung (no carrier branding) to flash. I tried multiple versions of U, U1 and U3 firmwares (all matching my current Binary -4) but no success.
I just would like to get rid of ATT bloat. I know I can uninstall it via ADB but I rather have firmware clean of it.
Any suggestion please?
Thanks
So am I right to assume that you are looking for a G990U2 TMB firmware with Binary 4, to flash on a G990U2 AT&T phone?
If so, then you can download it from the below link by clicking on "Download Samfw server" (G990U2OYN4EWC3, April 2023 update):
Download Galaxy S21 FE 5G SM-G990U2 (TMB) G990U2SQS4EWC3 in Samfw - Samsung firmware download
Galaxy S21 FE 5G SM-G990U2 (TMB - United States) G990U2SQS4EWC3 T(Android 13) samsung firmware download all model, lastest, fast update, completely free and fast speed in Samfw.com ✅
samfw.com
or if I am assuming wrong, can you please correct my understanding? As I do not have any practical hands-on experience with the USA models.

You are correct - I need T-Mobile (or carrier free) so I can utilize full carrier settings.
Thanks for the link, however above link gives an error when opening the page.
Nevertheless I will look for TMB firmware with CSC: G990U2OYN4EWC3 and post an update here
Flashed that and still has AT&T boot logo and all the apps

Well, I am sure that you have flashed by a Factory reset (Flashed CSC, not Home CSC in ODIN). The boot logo can be changed by rooting your device, also bloatware apps can be deleted via ADB command without rooting.. but you already have mentioned that you prefer not to proceed with those processes. So I am out of suggestions, sorry.
Just for my knowledge, after flashing the TMB firmware, now your settings> About phone> software information> service provider software version: 2nd line shows as TMB/ TMB/ AT&T?
(Also corrected the download link in my previous comment anyway).
Yes, you are correct i did flash CSC, not home CSC. Then I reflashed w home CSC but software still says ATT/ATT/ATT.
Moreover on Bootloader screen says "carrier ATT" - I have never seen that before on any Samsung phone that I had. I have no clue how did they lock up device that well. As for removing software via ADB that is not a problem, but ATT locks network selection mode so you cant choose between 5G, LTE, 3G etc..
TMobile in US still supports EDGE and sometimes it comes handy - whereas ATT has only LTE and 5G as they re-farmed EDGE and 3G/HSPA frequencies

I do not get why the CSC can never be changed, even after flashing the complete firmware... must be an ATT thing!
Anyway, to change the csc only, there is another very quick & easy method. It takes only 2/3 minutes; no flash or factory reset is required. You have to download and install a small software "SamFW Tool" on your pc/laptop (may need to disable the antivirus during the download/install process). Once done, connect the phone and enable USB debugging mode. Open the software, under the ADB tab, click Change CSC, from the dropdown list select TMB and click Change. The phone will restart and CSC "Should" change to TMB/TMB/ATT.
Here is the download link for the software:

That did the trick. I have T-Mobile CSC now
Thanks a lot

Great!
But still, that's only one part of the final solution I think. Your target was to replace the complete firmware from ATT to TMB, right? Since the CSC is now changed to TMB, I think you can give it another try via ODIN to install the TMB firmware now (only if you want). I am not confident that it will work now, but still, one last try should not be much of a hassle.
I think that these multi CSC contain all US carrier customizations....When I changed it to TMB it shows TMB/TMB/ATT and loads bootlogo as well as TMobile apps... I guess it is similar as Blackberry used to be back in the days...Depending which carrier SIM used it loaded proper settings from the firmware...
I have flash my METROPCS G990U2 to G990U3,other sim card work fine, but t mobile sim card does not work ,can someone help me?I already change CSC to xxa,but still no internet,I do have sginal bar
