So I've been trying to get magisk working for a while on Pixel XL and magisk version 11 still gives the unable to mount /system error.
Anyone find a workaround yet? Not being able to use Android Pay is annoying...

I've also been curious about this but everything I've read says it's just a matter of the dev of Magisk being able to implement into how the Pixel works. Looking forward to that *hopefully* happening sometime in the future!

For the long awaited Pixel support, I think I'll start working on it, but the complexity of that device might take a very long time for me to understand, since I do not own the device. I can only borrow my friend's device for not that long of a period of time, so progress shall be really slow. I'll not get the Pixel device now, because I don't think it is worth the price and the hassle for me to import it into Taiwan, but I'll definitely get the Pixel 2 to replace my current daily driver lol.

I'm getting an error when installing Magisk 11.6 on the Pixel, says:
"Updater process ended with Error: 1
Error installing zip file Magisk-v11.6-Pixel.zip"
Anyone else run into this with a fix?
----------------------------------------------------
Just wiped everything, still no go.
Getting the exact same error. This seems like an error with TWRP or the zip file I'm using.
The error pops up during the "Unpacking boot image" stage.
You need to used TWRP RC2. Your errors are because you are on RC1

Yes it works on PN, and yes it will work with EX but EX doesn't give you the same options in aroma (as SuperSU) because it isn't recognizing magisk root.

I should've been more definitive in my answer. Yes it will replace the kernel when you flash the rom, my bad.
I was using pure Nexus with Ex kernel....I flashed PN Rom (dirty flash) just to reset kernel....Flashed TWRP RC1 zip zip....Reboot system, then reboot recovery and flashed TWRP RC2 zip, reboot system, reboot to recovery flashed Magisk then reboot system again. Reboot to recovery flashed vendor img for PN and all is good. Enabled magisk hide in magisk app settings.....Then under magisk hide I hid it from DirecTV Now app. All safety net tests pass. Needed a build prop edit for directTV now to work correctly but all other apps blocked because of root are now working.
Thanks for the assistance

Good deal. What do you think would be the best way to update to 7.1.2? I have TWRP recovery and elementalX at the moment. Should I flash stock boot.img, then update? I Imagine I would have to flash magisk again though.

Thanks for helping me, i tried Blu spark and magisk from your link, i'm getting bootloop again, No luck
for me - coming from a custom lineage 7.1.2 rom - it worked the following way (but it completely formatted the phone due to an encryption issue)
- flash blu spark TWRP for Oreo
- wipe system, data, cache, dalvik
- flash OB27 ROM
- flash blu spark again
- reboot to recovery
- flash magisk 14.3
Are you having a boot loop (phone reboots again and again) or is it booting up forever with the boot logo on the screen? you are describing both in your post.
I'm using 14.5 and ask works great here on OP27 Oreo was using 14.3 and that all worked great too and did nothing special part from install
Ok, i have the same problem, I am on OB28 and working SU root. i want to change to magisk, so I completely unrootet the phone and tried to flash magisk via newest twrp. But it stuck at bootlogo. do I really have to flash for magisk the twrp.enkgst? will it work then?
OK, solved, flashed spark twrp flashed magisk uninstaller, flashed magisk 14.5 I'm fine
I tired all arm64 custom roms for moto z play, some arm, tried mixing with all kernels and magisk/without magisk.
And i can't pass safetynet on all these configurations
That's the point of SN. Those ROMs aren't certified by Google so they don't want you to pass. That's not a problem of any ROM, that's how it's intended to work
But I have passed with magisk

Your English is excellent!!!
I now have a very tiny understanding of Magisk Modules...
I started with 1600 this time (it later updated the mgr).
I thought this failed before so it may be necessary to try to add module with magisk, let it fail, then boot to recovery, flash that old 2 beta 5 zip (flash goes fine) , and reboot and I find that old 2 beta 5 zip is now in magisk modules. YOU THE PERSON!!! (gender non-specific version of you da man!)
I went on to do my usual of install TBPro, restore my stuff(obviously root works), reboot to recovery to backup at this point. and test. SafetyNet passes fully, Pogo plays, Netflix shows in gpstore. And I now have a working 8.1 on my MZP.
HUGE THANKS for your patience!!!!!!!

Check for Bluetooth and wifi if they are working correctly. I flashed the fix on AOSP and my Bluetooth crashed, needed to restore backup.
Hey guys, I just recently did a systemless root of my pixel 2 XL and I haven't been able to get it to bypass safetynet, the only app I use right now that requires root is Adaway and I had tested to see if it was causing the trouble by uninstalling it which has proven fruitless, any ideas on how to get past safetynet would be great, even if it means rooting my phone again differently.
Are you running a custom kernel?
Custom kernels will hide the bootloader unlock from SafetyNet
Is there a particular app you need to hide root from? if so you can do this with Magisk Hide in Magisk Manager

I'm not running a custom kernel, and the apps I want to use won't work even if root is hidden, one's my banking app for my bank back in england.
If you flash a custom kernel to hide the bootloader unlock, you should pass safetynet.
For your banks app to work, you need to pass safetynet and hide root
I'm running magisk with Flash kernel. My phone passes safety net and under Magisk Hide, I've selected my Halifax banking app so it works.

Flash the boot image. Run the following command in the folder with the boot image and ensure fastboot is in your PATH:

Flash your system back to stock with the flash all bat file. Remove the -w from the bat file to save data.
Copy the magisk zip to your downloads folder.

Boot to twrp and install the magisk zip.
Reboot.
Check if the magisk app is installed, if it isn't grab the APK from inside the zip and install it. If you had to install it, reboot once more.

Using it on OOS11. Saved me when one of the recent Magisk Canary releases had conflicts with modules and caused bootloops, it's a Godsend.
Basically if you bootloop because of modules, the boot animation stays on for like a minute, then the device restarts with all modules disabled (except for the Magisk Bootloop Saver module). You will need to re-enable them manually afterwards (and subsequently rebuild substratum themes etc).

Actually never mind I just patched it on 3 phones with no problem.
As far as Delta, the newest Lsposed requires Zygisk, so you might find that you will need that anyways as more modules go that route. Any ways, I will give Delta try some time.

Few days ago, magisk brought update. I updated and restarted. 1st restart was ok, but 2nd restart after updating youtube revanved module caused bootloop. I had to flash firmware in, data gone. Will this module really help me if it happens next time or i should use TWRP. TWRP is not available for my device BTW. I will try to build it as it's open source.
