just wondering what you guys use.
i'm looking for in ear headphones with some sort of music control/mic. under a hundred bucks is great, I love bass.
so far i've found these two guys: Klipsch Gaming earbuds, and Klipsch s4a's. I hear the s4a's have issues with some phones though.
I should mention I use power amp

problem solved. gonna use the ones that came with our phones. bass is solid, and so far they are pretty good at blocking noise.
if i find the mic/vol controls to not be worth it, i'll just buy a pair of half decent earbuds without mic control. if the OEM samsung earbuds dont provide me with mic control that I like, I doubt any expensive off market buds will do me justice.

I use the original earbuds that came bundled with this phone and Poweramp music player and the sound quality is more than excellent for me. Nice deep bass especially when you turn up the setting on Poweramp.

If you want BOSE, they make a mobile headset that has mic and volume controls. It's called the MIE2i. Also, Beats make a pair called the iBeats. They are an in ear headset with GREAT sound. I own both and use them interchangeably. I will say though I give the MIE2i's a slight edge because the eargels are the most comfortable I've ever worn.
BOSE = Buy Other Sound Equipment
Klipsch S4A, made for android. S4i sounds good, when mine need replacing, I'll buy S4A's.

I did the same and since I don't need the Mic, I started using my Sony ear buds. If I get a call, I just pull the phone out and answer, I have to see who's calling anyways.

As far as in-ears under $100 are concerned (which Im assuming your asking for) I like the NuForce NE-700M over the Klipch s4a. Ive had them both and i feel like the highs are more crisp and it has a bit more low frequency extension.
Also if you care about bass more than clarity the AIAIAI Swirl have plenty of bump and an excellent asthetic.
I use head-direct RE-1's along with cmoybb amp there is crisp sound with great bass.

Do either of those work with Android as well as S4A? To me, that's a big selling point. My S4i's are perfectly suitable sound-wise, but the lack of control sucks.

The NuForce has one button/mic combo. One press pauses/plays, two presses skips the track. The button is honestly a little flimsy though so if button is your number one concern
As for the AIAIAI it looks like the new one has 3 buttons but i cant attest to how well it works as i had an old version of the swirl with only one. I can say that AIAIAI's whole deal is that they are really well designed as far as the tangible parts so i would assume that they took a lot of care in designing the buttons.
what earphones set for Samsung Galaxy S2 SGH-t989 has best microphone ?
hi,
I've already lost the earphones that came with my new samsung galaxy s 2 SGH-t989. 1 of the reasons I got this phone was for the vlingo voice-operability that makes it good for use while driving. Does anyone know what the best ( or at least a good) earphone set is for this phone, especially with respect to the microphone quality?
thank you in advance.
monster has a BYO headset adapter w/mic that works
picked it up or $10. bought 2-one for walking around and one for the car's Aux-in jack.
what's the OP's budget? can never go wrong with a nice pair of sennheiser cans.

Anyone else thinks that the official headphones that comes with the Galaxy S3 doesn't sound good ?
They have no base and some frequencies lack 'depth'. It sounds like i'm listening to music trough an empty can:crying:
I'm looking for a replacement that has a remote that works with Android.
Any recommendation ?
Yeah the stock headphones are pretty terrible

Personally, I don't feel they're that bad. I have a pair of the Sennheiser CX 680's for the gym and I would say that the stock headphones come close to sound quality of the Sennheiser's I have.
They are definitely one of the better pair of stock headphones I've ever heard.

For me the ones that came with the Galaxy S1 were 25x better and sadly they are not compatible with the S3
The Sony ones that are packaged with the XS and Ion are far worse, the stock S3 ones aren't too bad.
Make sure you try out all of the silicone ear tips- if they aren't getting a good seal in your ear canal, the bass will be pretty terrible.

I am actually quite impressed with the included headphones. I get surprisingly good base with mine. Like the other guy said try using different size covers that they come with.

Stock S3 headphones are pretty decent in my opinion. 10X better than Apple stock ear-buds -
I like the stock headphones. They sound pretty good, with the right ear adapter they completely seal the ear and you hear NOTHING but music. I've got some Klipsche S5i and the Samsung ones sound equal at least.
I think the stock earbuds are nice. I'm very impressed with them. They are far better than the ones that came with iPhone 4s. I'm still thinking about buying the klipsch s4. So I can keep the stocks nice for when I sell the phone. I switch phones like crazy

I have to say the included earbuds sound pretty good to me. I listened to some music last night and watched a couple YouTube videos and was impressed with the sq for being an included accessory. They won't be replacing my Sennheisers any time soon, but I will be leaving them in my car for use in a pinch.
I don't think they're that bad for stock earbuds. Especially since they're free and included. They're not gonna sound as good as a decent pair of IEMs but there are a few things you can do to make them sound better. I bought a pack of Comply foam tips for a pair of Monster Turbines that I have. By far the most comfortable tips I have ever used and they offer great isolation. What do you know they fit the stock earbuds perfectly. They're still a little weak on the low end but it does help. I'm probably not going to be using this for anything other than making calls or going to the gym anyways. For serious music listening I'll use a real pair of headphones.
p.s. gotta love the S3 camera quality
Yea, I installed comfort foam black tips before I even tried the stock buds and I think they should awesome for stock issue.
I must have 25 sets of headphones and earbuds (I have some $400 buds) and these are far from the worst, but any buds need the correct seal from the tips to have any bass.
i changed the tip, same thing, the sound sucks
Stock earphone is not bad but definitely lack in base sound. My $15 Philips sounds better...
S3 headphone improvement
Quite the contrary, the stock headphones are very nice. You have to realize not all headphones sound the same hooked up to the same input. First things first you need to select the proper ear buds for your ear. The right size pair should fit snugly and comfortably in your ear. These also help to put the driver deeper into your ear canal for much better bass. Next open up your settings for your Music player and change the equalizer settings. In my opinion the Auto sucks and I don't like any of the preset options. If you find a preset that sounds good to you then you're all set. If you're like me and aren't happy with those, play around with the Custom option. This deters a lot of people but, isn't too difficult.
mine has really deep bass ..it's def can compare to some 30-50 range headphones. I think some you might have some "defective" ones or bad batch lol.
OP, not my cup of tea, but if you need some buds with bass just get some Beats by Dre and call it a day.
I like the stock headphones because they were free with the phone. Freebies are always good.
If you think the stock earphones sound nice, than you haven't heard anything better. lol
I throw the earphones onto my Zune mp3 player with a Fiio E5 amp, and i thought it sounded horrible.. threw on my $7 monoprice earphones back on and was blown away lol
I´m thinking about upgrading my Senheiser CX300-II since i cannot find the proper sound when plugin them to my ZL, sad as it is the ZL sounds worst than the Xperia ARC due to different DAC they use (Qualcomm).
It´s quite an annoying issue for me, i even thought about moving to another brand or downgrading to my old ARC pal.
Wanna give the ZL a proper chance, i have a modest set of speakers, Altec Lansing, and they produce a real good sound out of the ZL, so something can be done.
I´m looking into better earphones, in the range of 80-120 €, however i have a friend telling me, begging me, to buy the Shure SE425 set, worth 200€, he says i wil discover a new life in terms of sound quality.
If they are that good i might think about it, they are a bit expensive but...
So guys, what do you have to say about this?. can u recommend a gud but not very expensive set of earphones?, don´t need them to have mic or control volume by the way.
I use Klipsch Image X10i with mine, and I swear by it - most balanced & crisp in-ear I ever used (and I tried quite a few, etymotic, UE, etc). I believe its most wide range single-driver headset (I can't really stand multi-driver ones, since they hide fine detail in sound).
It also perfectly works as a headset (with only obvious exclusion of dedicated volume buttons).
I tried it out with a few cans: the Sony MDR-XB600 (for electronic and bassier music) and the Audio Technica ATH-AD900 (for everything else--especially awesome with cellos and violins). Sometimes I go with an amp (Fiio E06 and Fiio E07K) to bring more bass to the ADs.
I think they all sound really good. You just have to be sure that you feed it appropriately. A bad source will never sound good.

Knowing the facts, i mean the DAC...
Do you consider the ZL a good source?
Can a gud seat of earphones get a really nice sound out of it?
Tapatalk+Xperia ZL
Sorry--when I said "source" I was talking about the files. If you stream YouTube all day and play at the low quality levels, it'll reflect in the sound. However, if you play higher quality streams or uncompressed music files--the ZL can deliver a fairly full and rich sound. Granted, it's no Wolfson, but the Qualcomm chip they use is still better than the crappy Qualcomm one coming out of the Samsung Galaxy SII set.
Depending on the application you use, you can play with the EQ (I know the Music app, which I use, has an EQ) so you can flatten the sound, or add highs or lows.
I use poweramp player and sound is pretty good even with the headphones provided.. I thought Walkman was good but then I tried poweramp and it did improved the hell out... Besides a good setting on equalizer does the difference for sure... I use poweramp with headphones and Walkman for speaker...

I think worth every penny.
I got them for trial, I would've returned them if they were even a bit unsatisfactory, but sound quality totally blew me away, they were as awesome in detail resolution as single-driver Etymotics, but with tons more bass. You need to choose a proper eartips to get a good seal though, this very important with IEMs as such.
try ultimate ears
Have tried it's of ear phones and found this gem, budget, but a good upgrade from stock earphones. Very balance sound.

Not sure what do you mean by "cleaning"? On ZL I hear no much noise if you mean this. At least not more than I had on Galaxy S 2. I think ZL audio out quality is pretty decent.

It´s always difficult to describe sound.
The ZL sounds kind of dirty, distorted when the volume is up, didn´t find the right EQ balance yet, i remember Xperia ARC, with same earphones i use for ZL, was very easy in the sense, clean sound, heavy, clear bass, superior sound quality definitely, perhaps the best sounding smartphone i can recall (used Galaxy Note, Galaxy 3, Galaxy Mini, Xperia ARC, Iphone4 and now ZL).
Galaxy 2 was perhaps the worst sounding Galaxy S smartphone, they used a pretty raw Yamaha DAC, now they are back to Wolfson.
I love the ZL but i´m finding pretty difficult to get a quality sound out of it, that´s why i´m thinking about buying these kind of quality earphones.

Sorry, I don't know what you mean by "dirty", and I hear no distortion and it plays music well.
I don't use EQ because I want to hear music how it was intended, and that's why I bought expensive IEMs, because they are very flat & balanced. They really bring up any imperfection in sound output, but I have no big problems with my ZL.
Btw on SGS2 any kind of postprocessing significantly lowered SNR and made noise significantly more audible, don't know why.

Walkman was alright, but it has no ReplayGain support. So I am currently trialling alternatives. Haven't decided 100% yet, but PowerAmp looks the best.

Try looking for a Sony MH1C. It does sound like a $200 IEM for its $50 price and it comes with all the controls and Smartkey. You must think twice before getting a Shure since you're coming off a CX300-II which is a lot different.

Great review, thanks. One thing I'm wondering for you or anyone who owns these or an older version is how well they stay in-ear. I've been hearing these are great budget headphones and your review attests to that fact, but I'm always in the market for a good pair of earbuds that have good sound quality, not TOO expensive, and stay in my ears when running/exercising. Any guess on how they'd hold up in that respect?
For running/exercising you will need something more durable with in-ear stabilizers. Otherwise, you need to use Comply Foam tips. They will be wedged in your ears and create a perfect seal which enhances the bass.
For the one with stabilizers, these one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2673036 were great and also these one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2581215 - CKX9 sounded great.

No microphonics effect with these headphones.
I have these but I can't find a pair of comfy eartips. I tried them all that was included, and the ones that came with my Xperia Z ultra. And I ended up taking the old eartips from my Sony MW600 bluetooth headset. Still I'm not fully satisfied..I get the feeling that they are not getting squeezed in there like they should. Its like I can still hear outside noise from the street and people talking and cars driving by.
These pair of in-ears might not be right right for my ears so I ordered the "TTPOD T1E". Hopefully they might fit my ears and isolate outside noise better.
But other than that the sound is outstanding for the price I paid for these!
I just bought this today. it sounds amazing, but you need to use the right eartips that fits your ears, i found this troublesome for me at first, because with the wrong eartips, you wouldn't like how it sounds.
I also have SM MP21 [so now i own two SoundMagic products ], the sound quality of E10S is way better and accurate. The bass is not overwhelming like MP21, it's just right. The MP21 have higher sensitivity than E10 & E10S, so with the same volume MP21 will sound louder. For ergonomics, i feel that MP21 is more comfort in my ear than E10S.
E10S is an amazing product for the price, i hope it will sound better after break in.
I also tried the older E10 and E30 at the store, i think there's a difference between E10 and E10S, i feel the bass is louder on E10, E10S overall sounds smoother. E30 i don't like the way you have to attach them to your ears, the sound of E30 is more similiar with MP21 but with more controlled bass. E10 & E10S sound brighter and detailed, you could say that they are airy.
I could be wrong with E10 and E30, because i'm testing them at the shop i bought the 10S, i don't have lots of time to tinker with them and the shop surrounding is noisy.

Bass is ok, but not the strongest. Staying in your ears will depend on eartip fitment. But, these are definitely not a basshead headphones.
I have the e10m and I'm using them with the g3 they sounds really great beyond the price also it has very quality aluminum earpiece design.. But unfortunately i can't say the same for the cables and control unit they both very poor quality cheap plastik you have to take care of it so gentle.
It damages so quickly and easily, i start to use them since almost 1 month ago in the gym and now controls doesn't work anymore but, there is more it randomly turns down the volume or does the opposite it turns up all the way up on its own and blow your earphones of course your ears too.. Also sometimes it activates the stupid google search and stops the music.
As you can image it's so much annoying you want to throw them away when these things happens. Other than that they sounds really awesome the bass is solid and it doesn't really overcome the mids and highs.
I'm open to earphone advices btw, which is kind of the e10. Basses can be even more powerful i don't care but it shouldn't be less than e10's i'm a little bass head i think.
Note: Sorry for the possible grammar fails and corrupt sentences I'm not using this language often.
In person it takes like 5 min from me to say someone hello .
I have the e10s to use it with htc m9 & i've only used it for a couple of time & it damaged like you described already.
I googled "soundMagic e10s volume issue & found your post.
cant believe this product has such crappy quality !!!

Anyone facing the same issue? , I damn sure some of us would be facing this issue with akg, and I tried all the ear plugs provided, but to no luck... Planning to buy new earphones, anyone hav any suggestion on fixing this?
Those AKG earbuds don't work in my ears either, but my 17yr son said they are his absolute favorite and fit the best.
I guess everyone's ears are different enough that some designs don't work.
The AKG's just don't seem to go in deep enough into my ears. I usually end up getting the $40-$60 SkullCandy earbuds and like those (which my son says hurts his ears).
They are good as a backup pair (when you can't find your primary ones). Sound quality is somewhat okay, but the fit really makes it difficult to be a daily driver.
I don't have an issue with them falling out but they do lose their seal letting in ambient sound and loss of bass. They sound great when a good seal is maintained. I typically use them when I'm on a tractor or other equipment for hearing protection and to enjoy music.
No comparison to my UE10 pro custom IEM (of course) but better than say airpods.
I have not tried other sized tips though.

Something I do with ALL in ear headphones is create custom moulds for your ear. Google Proguard custom earplugs and you get a kit to make custom ear plugs. While theyre soft, press the headphones(without the buds) into the mould and let it set. Then cut out a small hole for the audio to come through and youll have the best sound possible from those headphones as theyre custom to your ears.
Loads of videos on YT too
Akg headphones is 1,000,0000 times better than my beats audio. It's def made for s10+. Pairs this headphone with viper4android.....you get deep bass and rich audio

Same here. The AKG buds is some of the best i have got with a phone. My first pair was from Galaxy S8 i have used them a lot at work, and they are great . Now i have another pair from Galaxy s 10 and i understand why Samsumg have kept this model for 3 gens. And they are Hard to kill the wires are strong
From earbuds, 2 wires will join into 1. At the join, there's small ring. Pull that up. It will stay....
U need a "wet willy" first then put on your headphones

Sadly I'm so unlucky all earbuds don't fit in my ear for some reason... I have glasses so no sport buds too... Headphones for me
Did you try switching the silicone cushions/focusers? The ones in there to begone with are mediums or so I'd say. In the box your phone came in there should be a small and large set. Try that
Search Amazon for those spongy ear-bud tips. I got a box of 10 of them for less than $10 and they make all my ear-buds fit better and are more noise canceling.

Anyone facing the same issue? , I damn sure some of us would be facing this issue with akg, and I tried all the ear plugs provided, but to no luck... Planning to buy new earphones, anyone hav any suggestion on fixing this?

Fix your ears or get a new pair of ears lol
Looking for portable/ wireless earphones
For me AKG works best. It has got crystal-clear sound and deep powerful bass. Also they are tangle free, because of the fabric braided cable.
However i am looking for portable headphones or wireless earpods.
Do let me know the best options available.

Apple AirPods Pro - if you want good sound quality and comfort; Jabra Elite Active 75t - if you want active and passive noise cancellation. The latter has a more balanced sound but you would have to listen to both to make a sane decision. You might not like either of those in the end.
