Do I need root?
Yes, you need to be rooted to enable camera2api. Root with Magisk as it makes everything a lot easier.
What is camera2API?
You will need to enable camera2API for GCam to work. It is not enabled by default with MIUI. You will be required to root your phone and enable it.
You can either download a magisk module to enables camera2api or manually add it to your build.prop. XDA has tons of guides on how to enable camera2API.

New zip libs added to sensors centaur imx268 ofilm and sagit imx268 liteon, as some people were not able to use because of the existence of 3 different libs for each specific model. The stable global mod compatible with versions 9.2.2.0/9.2.3.0 and global beta compatible with versions 8.2.24 / 8.3.1, AOSP, download the zip according to the version of its firmware

The only issue I found is the AF and touch focus not working well in slow motion video mode. When you open this mode the AF works one time them stop.
One workaround is turn on and off the AF lock. Everytime you do that the AF works for one time.
By the way, Is there any app that improves video recording quality?

(Also is open source and caf optimized (battery & speed) : CS Browser )

On the 'paper', OOS is supposed to be CAF built and camera should be so ? Check attached build.prop. BTW I have no idea what is saltproject.

Isn't there an Intent on Android that launches a default image editor? On my usual Gallery, there is an "Edit" menu entry that launches Snapseed.
I was just thinking that launching an external editor would be an easy quick fix and then the internal one could be fixed later (or not).

The weird thing is that on OOS github "darkware" :
- OOSGallery has "broken" PhotoEditor only, whereas SnapdragonGallery is working fine with a last modern embedded PhotoEditor version
- SnapdragonCamera is ok, with flash, but no 2x telephoto
- OOSCamera is working with 2x telephoto but with broken flash (and very 1st photo always void)
You can find some added (msm8998 / darkware) SnapdragonGallery libs, in post #7 , maybe some CAF devs can re-use them (?) ( @xdvs23 @joshuous ). I'm waiting for 4.5.8 update for more tests on darkware side.

Hi @oF2pks, why do you call it "Darkware"? What makes it dark? Looking at the OOS manifest, it just looks like you're building plain SnapdragonGallery directly from CAF. I'm not so sure yet what's special about it. Please correct me if I'm missing anything out

In fact I just built the complete github OOS rom.
First, I neither thought github OOS will build OK, but it does without any fixes AND with LLVM straight.
So I was naive to believe I could flash boot + system img on top of OOS 4.5.x : just bootloop; userdata.img has to be flashed coincidentally.
The resulting boot is what I named "darkware": a "stalk" aosp of H2O
- device Id : MSM8998 unrecognized by OPLaucher and no flash for OPCamera
- loose kernel
- outdated framework patched with recent fresh tweaks
- incompatible specifics with n-mr2 upgrade
- "tricky" complete fastboot_erase to recover a certified OOS 4.5.x
- *missing DRM Widevine
But the Snapdragon apps were real ok, and, for fun, I boot OK a patched OOS darkware with microG and WakelockBlockers : https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=745425885120751353
Instead of open sources, Oneplus did a full msm8998 (intrinsync-like) factory images compatible with OP5 inside chips (rescue rom img ?). I even tried an ugly n-mr1 manifest (attached) that sync ok, but breaks on bluetooth

Yeah the sources on GitHub are not meant for you to build a full ROM. They're meant for devs to pick core functionalities for the OP5, such as Dash Charge, NFC, etc.
And no one really needs the compilation fixes for the kernel as long as they know which make commands to use. Either way, the kernel compilation 'issues' will not pop up when you make a boot.img (packaged in the ROM) instead of zImage.
And VertexOS will come to OP5 maybe after Android O comes out. There's still some unfinished experiments to work on for the OP3

FLASHING INSTRUCTIONS
1) Flash Rom zip,reboot
2) Setup your google account, use google installer to install gapps,
3) flash afterflash zip, don't flash it before setting up google account as this will make account setup crash.reboot.

5) let the device cool after flashing.
6) additionally you can flash any thermal mods, sound and other mods too.
Note:
1) If you have play store crash, see point #3 above, if its fine then clean data of play store and play services. If still doesn't work then let it download latest play store, it will update automatically.
2) If you have contact sync issues, download contact app from google, if you have trued many other tricks and contacts are still not syncing then let rom take its time, it will sync automatically after few hours.
3) portrait mode in gcam is still buggy, you can install other apks too.

Flashing/Setup/installation Instructions
This Rom don't support encryption, so if u r coming from ZUI, erase your data, only official TWRP is supported, no need to unmount system or anything, you can flash in normal way.
1) Flash Rom zip=AfterFlash zip.
2) Skip setup, Go to Setting/Languages & Input/Virtual Keyboard/enable swiftkey there.
3) Go to File manager then Storage/H2os ExtraFiles Install Google Installer apk,setup But Dont Login.
4) Go to Setting/Apps/ Give Permission To all Contact/Google Apps In order to solve Sync Issues,Then Login In Play Store,Reboot.
5) Install PixelMod camera Apk From H2OS ExtraFiles Folder,
6) There Are More Files/Apks You can Install them if you Need them
Tips And Tricks/Known Issues/WorkArounds
1) To Solve Yellow Tint on Display/Screen See Atachement.
2) If Portrait Mode Crashes,First Switch To Front Cam Then Enable Portrait Mode,If Its Crashing Too Often,Try other Provided Apk
3) If HDR+ Doesn't Work, It will Work With Portrait Mode, As Portrait Mode Only Works on Humans,If Will Apply Only HDR+ Instead Of Portrait Mode Effect,Other
Provided camera Have Working HDR+ , But Portrait Mode May Crash More Often,Though You Can Use Both Or One Which Suits You Better.
4) For Contact Sync Give All Permissions To Gapps.
5) If Third Party Camera Apps Not Working , Reflash AafterFlash Zip.
6) No Notification After Clearing Apps From Recent? Disable Aggressive Doze Under Battery Setting.
7) Low Volume?? Try any Sound Mods Like Shox/Dolby/Viper4A Or any Other of Your Choice.
Note: Though I have Tried My Best , Still There May Be Gcam Issue/Fc, Its Greatly Improved from Recent Build, But Portrait Mode May Crash Sometimes, For Me, Its Crashing 20% (Crashing 2 Times Out Of Attempts).

Some people's reported that gcam is crashing for them.
I have updated AfterFlash zip with some more files, if its crashing too for you, flash the included magisk modules in AfterFlash2zip.
These modules should reduce gcam crashes, for me its crashing once out of 10 attempts (10% crashes)

The original dev 'Youlinw' have updated h2os on 20 feb 2018,
I have found and easy workaround fir enabling cam 2api pixel camera with working portrait mode without force closes/crash, just need to flash two zip files which will patch boot.img and place camera related files in appropriate locations, so it won't break existing oneplus camera so there will be no conflict and gcam will not crash, as it was happening on last build.
This time, I am not updating rom, you just need to flash rom, then zip provided here.
|| Flashing instructions ||
1) wipe data, system, cache, dalvic cache (clean flash is always recommended)
2) flash the original rom
3) boot into rom, setup, disable Chinese bloatware and system apps which you don't need (don't disable baiduIME this is default keyboard)
4) install google installer, press blue circular button to install play store, once all apps are installed, login your google account, tweak the rom as you want.
5) the reboot to twrp, Flash oss cam hal enabler v1. Zip
6)reboot,use the rom for few minutes, then flash oss cam hal enabler v2. Zip
7)reboot, install camera apk given in link, then use default settinga, you can tweak if you want but that may or may not cause stability issues.

I have been using this build from last 3 days, excellent battery life almost 10 hour sot,
Bugs
Oneplus camera is broken now, won't save pics videos,
Third party camera can't record front camera video
Gcam records dark video as usual but third party camera are working good in rear cam video recording, except this i didn't find any bug, if anyone's finds report me

1) use any baseband, it will update baseband to 1.70 no matter ok which baseband you were recently.
2) on which rom, this rom? Yes they crashes just restart the app, and as of now video recording is broken on gcam, use some third party apps, like bacon cam, open cam or any other for recording video.

yes,this is issue of oreo roms,most nougat roms should have led working.
Performance is good
But rom heats. And OSS hal is not working good.

Do some real work . GCam not working good . App crash is there with camera apps . Magisk was working good with 1.2.2018 built , i did installed magisk directly . And chinese apps can be removed easily on h2os . Easy to disable and remove .
So u did nothing actually .

yes i have done nothing,will wait for you to post fixes,
Moreover,this rom is just edited by me,not build by me, i dont have source codes of this rom,moreover its zip is password protected , go see yourself,
and Gcam is Crashing because Boot.img is not properly optimized for changes that i have made,and i cant optimize as of now it is almost impossible to extract and edit, i have tried more than 50 times.
and this is not whole new rom,this is just slightly modified version.

Installation instructions (for first-time installation):

What is this ?
It's hydrogen os port for zuk z2. This is the latest oreo version of hydrogen os rom available. This port brings all the software feature of oxygen os except for those required hardware such as nfc, alertslider, etc.

workaround: added swipe right to silent and you can also use some app to achieve this.
Instructions :
-WIPE Dalvik/Art Cache, Cache, System, Data, Vendor (if exist)
-Reboot to recovery
-FLASH OOS ROM
-Reboot and do the initial device setup.
-Now reboot back to recovery to flash the patch
[ Remember, flash patch after first boot otherwise it will cause boot-loop.]
Note :
device might warm up so after set up just leave it for 2-3 min to cool down.
If you for some reason wiped data, use the revert zip immediately then reboot to avoid bootloop after that you can use the patch .

Btw I have few ideas,if you do an treble build(like my team once did,though it was unstable at that time),it should work then,I just did miui treble ports, and used camera libs from other devices(though modified ones),and it worked,it opens a new door of possibilities.

It's recording at fps by the default camera. Maybe due to bug in high speed recording

There are a lot of threads for GCAM for Mi6 (Sagit) - which is focused on getting the app functioning properly & getting a better image quality.
Could this thread be focused solely on what would be the best settings for GCAM..?
I am sharing mine with hope that others may benefit from it. I have fould all of the files from XDA and this is just a compilation.

Good idea, but I think it will be better to save your settings as cfg file and share it. As you probably know the gcam 6 has the ability to save all settings in a cfg file. There are already few cfgs shared in the gcam round up thread (see the first post).

See 1 st pic. Save your current settings.
Then go to your root memory. You'll see a new folder has been created > Gcam. Put any settings file there.
After that, see 2nd pic. Tap twice.
Select the settings file.
Enjoy.

By no means, I am an expert and always nitpicking my settings.
Here's what I'm running now.
Here is one very nice config for gcam 6.1, which was shared recently by Pitbull in the Russian forum(all credits for the cfg goes to him):
Pitbull_Super.Z.s.L(3).xml
And here is the updated version of the same cfg with improved noise/denoise settings:
Pitbull_Super.Z.s.L(4).xml
To be used with latest 3.8 library by Alexey. I am on MIUI 10 Global, so I use the following magisk module:
60fps_miui_stable_v3.8.zip
HDR+ can be used to capture quick photos during the day when there is sufficient light. HDR+ enhanced can be used in the afternoon and evening mode (photo capture will be slower but with better quality).

There are different settings and flashable files for different Roms.
Please be vigilant and match exactly.
For example, if anyone flashes 60fps_los_stable_v3.8 (this file is specifically developed to be flashed on LOS and LOS-based roms) to a non-LOS based Rom, s/he will not get optimum result.

How's the image quality..?
IMO, the images are a bit darker than usual.
But, ZSL (Zero Shutter Lag) is working properly - I'm talking about Pitbull's latest settings for Gcam.

We present you an updated mod. With new libs, Eszdman v3.1 Unlike Xlib v2s mi 6. This libs is completely similar to Eszdman v3 Only colors with Xlib. Thanks for the work of all involved. And yes, the config on Xlib v2s is pre-installed in the mod
Eszdman 3.1 is better detail. but more noise. Xlib v2s mi 6 Slightly less detail but less noise.
