Everything works fine except for battery life. Some people using RR6 are having a excellent battery life. There must be something I can do to improve the situation.

Broken? Arasthel's LOS 15.1 is running very smoothly for me with decent battery life, not much worse than MIUI for me.

I'm running RR 6.0 now, never have that kind of battery drain.

Half of the calls had no audio for me wit LOS 15.1. I definitely did not do anything wrong, I did your flashing sequence with total wipe. It was also draining battery and getting hot. I have no clue how it can work for some people and not for the others.

Maybe you should properly calibrate battery once new rom is installed. That helped me before.

Does that really help with battery draining issue ?I should do this only when the battery indicator is inaccurate.

I don't have a battery screenshot right now. But I definitely don't notice much drain when the phone is idle. I get 3-4h SoT per day with 20-30 percent left. I use bluetooth in the car a lot and always have it on, almost always on wifi. Don't notice any drainage when on LTE though.

I found out where the cause is.It's the location setting.Default location setting is high accuracy, which costs a lot of battery life.I turned it off and it's all fine now.9 hours idle,4 hours SOT,40% battery left.Really satisfied with that.

I really dont know the reason. But one thing is that because I came from MIUI, after flashing the RR, i do the "format user data" just to make sure everything is clean for a different kind of Rom. It would be a bit hassle to copy things back to the phone, but I just have to do that format thing once.
Also I use greenify with aggressive doze. That's it

I have no audio on calls - again. This is really starting to piss me off. If no one else has this, then it must be a problem with my phone. I have never tested it with miui to be honest, I flashed custom roms right away. I guess now I need to go back to stock to see if the issue persists.

It helped me. I am not getting any drains. Give it a try you got nothing to lose. Just discharge your phone fully and then leave it turned off to fully charge.

As the title said, i'm looking for a kernel to improve my nexus 7 battery life. I do not play games, my most concern is improve battery life when browsing web. Anyone can help me? I'm quite busy so i don't have time to try every kernel.

Screen on time is taking about 20% instead of the 60% I used to have ( I normally have it on lowest settings). Lasts me a day without charging.

This of course is BS, a kernel can't alter the percentage the screen uses in such a ludicrous amount. But if it works for you, great

Kernels can affect screen time in "ludicrous amount" when you overclock, use the device for a period of time, application usage, GPS, Bluetooth, and display settings etc.

No. Not in the amount you specified. Complete nonsense, with all due respect. Underclocking, undervolting, all those things will never yield your result. One hundred percent impossible.

Well I don't know what to say to this. I know what my battery stats were and I wipe them (and I continue to wipe them) daily. Maybe my nexus is special. Come to think of it, it has had some problems before. Maybe this is a way for it to make up to me

Its true, battery stats have no effect on battery life. I wipe them across ROMS because the battery stats file can get messed up when switching ( it has happened to me before ).

No, it can't. Wiping battery stats has no influence over the battery indication whatsoever. As per Google themselves.

Interesting things happen when you wipe the cache. This is from my Nexus 7 during Video playback. Seem like the battery consumption gets attributed differently.
Exactly the same setting, ROM & Kernel, both cases I use MX Player Pro with H/W+ accleration to playback 720p videos. Only difference is in first case Screen battery consumption 83.5%, the other 57.7%.

Get Elemental X 1.8 and run it at stock clocks (1.5Ghz CPU/400mhz GPU) will probably give you the best battery life. If adjusting a lot of settings when installing a kernel is a hassle to you, get Bulletproof 1.3 instead. Bulletproof have the same developer(flar2) as Elemental X, it is basically a developer optimized version of Elemental X running stock clocks & optimized for Battery life.

oxygem os 3.2.1 insane wake locks

Been using this phone for over a month now and always has bad battery life as compared to what others are getting.. about 4 hours sot with over 20 hours on battery and it used to reach 10% battery level ?.. yeah it's bad... So I unlocked, rooted and installed greenify and amplify and amplify showed the cause... Take a look at this.. so the only way to fix this is to flash a custom stock based ROM right ?
I'm worried about that rijl wake lock.. radio issues ? I always keep my phone on 2g to get even batter battery life but sad situation for me here folks
thinking 4-5 is bad because you got 10 once. Hm...
I don't think anyone has been able to get 10 hours screen on time on a single charge on any phone.......

Sure! Easy, just depends on what you do...
Just remove all the Google Apps, especially Google Now. It's wakelocking the phone like crazy, because it's recording your location for example.

oh man i am so sorry the way i framed my sentence.. i meant 10% battery life lol my apologies. and when i mean others, they usually get 5h sot or more
RILJ is caused by Google Play Services, not by OP3 itself.
Get rid off GApps or just deal with it.

Battery Life on OOS 5

Just wanted to start a central thread for people to share SoT's and other battery-life-related info for the new OOS 5 build, and the other Oreo builds that may eventually follow, OnePlus willing.
I'm just waiting to see how battery life turns out, and how stable the build is, before upgrading. I figured many others would be too, so any of you brave first responders who want to fill us in would be very appreciated!
Useful info to include:
*Screen-on time (ideally with a screenshot of app usage)
*Average standby drain per hour
*Rough difference between standby drain when on WiFi/LTE (signal quality is the biggest decider here, so if you have an idea how good of a signal you may have been getting, please include that too)
Thanks to anyone who takes the time to let us know! (Remember to click the thanks button for those who help us out!)
So far so good. Pretty much the same as nougat.
i lost 40 % in around 1 hour SOT. that's very bad...
Very good, better than nougat
Hi, maybe a survey can be usefull ? Like "better than nougat" or not
After selecting location mode to GPS only, my idle drain with Oreo open beta is really low. I usually have 80% battery left when I go to bed. The other day I somehow disabled wifi and still had 80% left, so cellular battery usage is minimal.
Way better battery life than nougat.

There isn't a lot you can do about google play services and android system wakelocks, that's just Google spying on you and selling information about you. Limiting those almost always breaks something, they build their internal services confusingly on purpose because spying on you and selling that information is their core business model. You just have to do trial and error and see what works in your use case.

Bluetooth battery drain

Before flashing a custom rom i had no problems with my p2 at all. Last week I installed the lineage 14.1 rom and now suddenly the bluetooth function drains my battery a crazy amount. It can go up to 88% of the total battery usage, i think on the stock rom it was about 5 or 10%. I searched everywhere but couldn't find a fix for me. Any help?

Question Any tips for improving idle battery drain?

Currently trying to squeeze as much battery life from my phone as I can. I'm running arter's kernel and screen on time is pretty good, according to accubattery my idle drain is 0.6% an hour which isn't bad to me by any means but at the moment I'm a little obsessed with improving battery life so any tips are appreciated!
ideally, anything below 0.8 is fine, you should not worry about the idle drain much. There are apps that would underclock the device but it would risk the performance and wake times. You can try that if you wish and see how that affects the device's performance to get to know if its actually worth it.

I considered switching to bluspark since it allows me to switch from schedutil to conservative but I don't know if there's any real world difference between the two in terms of standby drain.

Yes, per hour. I had between 1.5 and 2% on my previous Realme X2 Pro, and now it's 2.5 to 3%, that's why this looks a bit too high.

No, when I said less than 1% I referred to idle at night time with AOD off when the device sleeps basically. With AOD 2-3% is fine. No need to restrict it further.
