Hello fellow Android TV users,
if you care about DSD (arch enemy of PCM ) on android in general and on Google TV set-top boxes in particular, head over to https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/73956275
and comment or upvote (star button) my feature request :highfive:.

bug URL not working atm
The bugtracker URL mistakenly converted itself into an internal bug, which means that it can no longer be accessed publicly (though two people could reach and comment it so far ).
I have contacted Google and requested that report no. 73956275 to be made public again. As soon as this is been done, I'll let you know.
In the mean time you could sideload (install APKs manually) some audio players with DSD support (at this moment stereo PCM output only):
play.google[DOT-COM]/store/apps/details?id=com.hiby.music
play.google[DOT-COM]/store/apps/details?id=com.neutroncode.mp
play.google[DOT-COM]/store/apps/details?id=com.extreamsd.usbaudioplayerpro
Thanks for your patience
The waiting is over
Good evening folks,
I am happy to report that the bug tracker URL is accessible again :good::victory:.
Feel free to upvote (star button) or comment !

Hi,
I just want to inform about an app that has been developed by xda members and has been reported as working properly on Galaxy S, and might be of your interest.
The aplication searchs in internet for tv shows video links that can be played directly on android, with an easy to use interface and fullscreen support.
There is a Lite (free) version with 12 preselected tv shows and a full (paid) version with 500+ tv shows.
The tv shows that can be watched on the lite version are :
Friends, The X-Files , Family Guy, Being Human, Monk, Lost, Heroes , Misfits, Prison Break , Breaking Bad, The Simpsons, South Park
You can read the full thread on this XDA forum link if you need more information.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=903351
I post it here because not all users go arround the forum , out of their device subforum.
If you find any bug or any suggestion, we are listening to improve, the aplication is still under development, the new feature "send liks to email to be watch on a computer" has just been added this week and we will have new features soon.
regards
Please, test fast forward and rewind in Frogmovz server, pause it before flash forward or rewind. Report if it work for Samsung galaxy S.
Thanks
It's one of my base apps on my phone, works like a charm. No lag, no buffer, smooth playback. Imagine this + Tv output
There are only 12 shows in the light version, but apperantly those are most of my favorite.
Lite shows:
- Friends
- X-files
- Family guy
- Being Human
- Monk
- Lost
- Heroes
- Misfits
- Prison break
- Breaking bad
- South park
- The simpsons

fast fwd, rewind, fullscreen, all working.
Tried on Heroes Frogmovz.
Hi,
Thanks for the reports.
We are working to make FF and RW working in karambavidz that is the only server that does not support it at the moment. It should be working soon. We are also considering direct download for files and the inclusion of movies.
Thanks for the continuous support from all XDA members.
Regards.
Movies would be a huge addition, I recommend moviewatch.in, there are loads of servers too choose from, say "putlocker" is one of the best.
I'd definetely buy the app(would even pay more) if you implement movies, I'm more of a movie watcher, than a show junkie.

Hi all,
This is my first post / thread, let me start by saying thanks to all of you !
I am another happy owner of a nexus phone
Our official android 4.1 version does not support USB DACs, and perhaps we can all ask for support at code dot google
Many audiophiles and headfiers already own USB DACs. Think of them as ‘sound cards’ or ‘USB audio devices’ . DAC is actually an acronym for Digital to Analog Converter. And ‘usb audio’ is a standard as you can see in usb dot org
I can do some alpha / beta testing if any new image with usb audio support enabled comes up, just let me know. Or feel free to suggest any other way of enabling usb audio.
I am not talking about android-only docking stations but regular hifi DACs. There are even portable DACs to take with you on road !
™
+1
Also to have this link to keep track of the issue: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=24614
mengsuan , Thank you for providing a link to code dot google, I am a newbiew so I can’t post links yet.
S III seems to be the best choice right now for audiophiles on the road
To tell you the truth I expected all 4.1 phones to support usb audio out of the box. It was my fault, I should have read the articles referring to usb audio support better.
Hopefully the community will help and provide some custom image for Galaxy Nexus even before google does.

Sorry to hear it got rejected. I wrote an article about the app so hopefully it'll get you some attention and donations.

If I were you, I'd re-submit the app to Amazon for smartphone Android devices. If it gets approved, it will allow the app to appear on the Fire TV's home screen when sideloaded. See here for more info.

Hopefully amazon reconsiders it because its a very cool app!
I just have 2 criticisms--better remote support, the web pages are sort of difficult to navigate. My keyboard would probably work fine but I'd much rather scroll with remote.
--better video integration, you can't stop, pause or resume the video. I was watching a short documentary that was about 30 minutes. I had to leave the room so I tried to pause it and it didn't work. The only way to stop it is the press back or home, but then there's no option to resume. You need to watch it all over again because you also can't fast forward.
Its a great app IMO. And I think its a bad decision on Amazon's part to not include it. Thanks!
Thanks AFTVnews for the plug! Thank you again on the tip, I'll submit the latest build to amazon this week for phone.
Amazon replied to my inquiry on Saturday with a clearer explanation. Hopefully we can come to a agreement on a version of the app being approved.
Thanks for the feedback! Sounds like the video clip you were watching was not a youtube clip. Can you point me to the reddit post that linked to the video you watched?
I have the newest model Shield I believe:
Android ver. 9
SW version: 8.2.2(32.6.509.0)
Kernel ver: 4.9.140-tegra ...
Description: Tegra X1 + mDarcy
While there is audio passthrough via HDMI, USB audio output fixes the bitrate at 16/48 or 16/192 in high quality mode. I have a semi high-end hi-fi setup with good DAC where you want an 'untouched' audio bitrate and 24 to 16 bit downsampling is rather unattractive . I have been looking at: https://source.android.com/devices/audio/usb It appears that using isochronous mode is universally standard, but the sub mode on most Android devices, including the Shield, is set to Adaptive when it needs to be Asynchronous sub mode to do this. I can't find any online source with an kernel mode setting to do this. I am not even sure I am on the right path here.
Any insights, references, tips, or better yet some ADB command line code?
Thanks,
p-we
Hi there - where did you land on this? Thanks!

Still no take-off or did you manage something with this? I'm in the exact same hi-fi boat
I did find that sideloading UAPP (USB Audio Player Pro, will cost you 8 dollars or so) on the shield technically works and it can play audio without any re-sampling done (my dac shows the sample rate changing when songs have different sample rates so I know it works), even stream from Qobuz / Tidal, but the UX is pretty much unusable since it's not an Android TV app lol

I've not looked into the USB sub mode since I first looked into it and posted in 2021.
Good idea on UAPP which I am familiar with USB-C on android mobile. Might play around with that as I think I'm already good for the $8. It's indeed a pain when Android apps don't use the Google/Android TV remote system.
I've since solved the problem for my hi-fi audio purity 'fix' by moving to Roon which provides flawless high res audio (via network to an RPi's USB 2.0 audio output) and is controlled by mobile phone via the Roon Remote app. Now if Roon would only make an Android TV compatible remote app the Nvidia Shield would be a great UI experience and the USB output wouldn't matter anymore.
So for what it's worth, over at the Nvidia forums one of the staff members confirmed that this is on their 'to-do-list' so with a bit of luck we can see this fixed in the next Shield update

Hi all
I have the stick & the pro and have been using for IPTV, Netflix, YouTube etc mainly but I have moved house and have a lack of aerial so my old BT box that I used for freeview and recording is of no use. There is a satellite dish and LNB.
So I was wondering if I can use the shield for this either by connecting the LNB somehow or via an IPTV player that records. So a couple of questions...
As I understand it there is no way to connect the shield to the LNB and use it like that, is that correct? If I am wrong how do I do that please?
Secondly if I cannot do the above, or even if I can, would an IPTV player app or similar with the facility to record be a better option. If so does anyone have any recommendations please? I do not mind paying for the app as long as it works, I have read good things about the 'IPTV Tuner' app but cannot find anywhere if it records or just for viewing!
I've seen this but it has not been commented on for some time:
nVidia Shield Android TV
nVidia's Shield Android TV is an Android TV based set-top box, targeted at both home entertainment and gaming. The nVidia Shield Android TV was released in May 2015, and is the third-generation Shield hardware device. It can output 4K resolution to TV over HDMI and supports high definition...
