Got my AT&T Galaxy Note II. Have left the ROM, bootloader, etc. all stock.
Where my Galaxy Nexus would have trouble uploading my phonebook to my 2012 Honda CR-V car stereo without Navigation system, the Note II seems to pair without issue.
HOWEVER, if the phone is unplugged from power... about once every two minutes it drops the BT connection from the car stereo, and about 20 seconds later reconnects. I say if unplugged, because if I plug the phone into a cigarette lighter charger, the BT seems to stay up and stable.
I figure this could be a BT timeout issue, or perhaps some power setting we could adjust? I have disabled the power management functions on the Note 2, but that has not prevented the issue from occurring.
I also have a Sony SmartWatch that I have paired to the phone. The watch doesn't have any issues, but whether I have the watch on or off, I see the same functionality between the phone and the stock car deck.
I'm having the exact same problem, I thought it was an issue with my vehicle's Bluetooth antenna.
I tried calling Samsung about this issue and they were, as expected, pretty unhelpful.
I'm having a similar problem with my Ford Sync Bluetooth connection. Except I'm only using battery power.. The first time I connect for the day, all seems fine. Any subsequent connections during that day are problematic with connect failures or random disconnections.. Must be a gnote2 bug as my gnote1 (stock ROM) worked perfectly in my car.
As soon as I read this, I began to wonder if my issue is somehow related.

same problem here with SGN2 and Veloster...I lose my connection after a few minutes. Before with my HTC, I had no problem .
BT works fine for me in my MDX stereo and on my BlueAnt device. I don't have to plug it in or anything... just turn it on, pair it and go.
My note 2 is bone stock - just rooted so I can use Titanium Backup.
Is anyone else having issues with their 5x connecting to their car's bluetooth automatically (I drive a 2015 Subaru Forester)?
My Nexus 5 would always just automatically connect, but since I switched to the 5x I have to either connect to the car from the phone or vice versa.
I'm sure I could work something out with tasker or whatnot, but that feels to me as though it should not be necessary?
I have yet to get back in my car after pairing to my bluetooth adapter (I just paired this morning) but I will check later.
Do you have a list of saved or prioritized devices in the car? I wonder if the Forester bluetooth is trying to connect to your first device (Nexus 5) unsuccessfully.
I have a 2014 Ford Focus. The bluetooth will connect automatically, but I have noticed weirdness when placing calls. The car will take a while to initiate the call and then display an error saying "call cannot be completed". Then, 2 seconds later the call audio (ringing) will occur.
I am hoping that these are just some initial bluetooth issues that will be ironed out.
I had deleted my old device from the car's memory.
Another thing I am experiencing is that even if my phone IS connected, the calls are going through the device, and not my speakers.
It still pauses the music...
It could be either my car or the device. I've heard of other Subaru owners having issues with multiple devices in their car, just wasn't sure if it was a little of Column A and B. It seems likely enough it's a little bit of both.
No issues at all. I have a 2012 Dodge charger with the 8.4 Uconnect. This phone actually connects quicker than my S6 edge did and the sound is louder at max volume (on the phone) than the S6E. The only thing that doesn't work is the text messaging from the Uconnect, but overall I am very pleased.

My in-laws own a 2015 Forester so perhaps next time I see them I'll try to pair my 5X. May be a while before that happens though so don't hold your breath
2013 Honda Civic here (so cool, I know). I'm getting mixed results on it automatically connecting. Sometimes yes, but other times I need to connect manually. Yesterday, Bluetooth audio got really choppy in the car, and I had to restart in order to stabilize that again. Have not seen the choppiness issue with my other Bluetooth devices.

I had no problem with my Mazda 5 connecting to my Moto E on 4.4.4, but since the upgrade to 5.1 I now have to turn bluetooth off then back on every time I get in the car for it to connect. Also, the connection can drop. I tried deleting existing connection data from both car and phone, setting up from scratch, but it hasn't made any difference. Wish I could downgrade by phone's OS back to 4.4.4.
Might depend on the sound system. Reconnects to my 2013 VW Passat every time.

No issues in my Audi or aftermarket radio in the Subie... It sounds like you may not have calls being routed through the phone (based on your comment), maybe that is causing the connection issue? Something like only a phone connection is automatically connected (and the audio comes with it), but an audio connection is not?
I have a 2011 Mitsubishi Ralliart and i don't have any issues with my 5X auto connecting to the factory bluetooth system, my problem is the factory bluetooth is garbage since any time someone calls there is too much interference i can't hear what the other person is saying.

Exact same issue here but with a Kia. As soon as the phone "reacts" to a call being started on the headunit, the headunit says "call was hung up". As soon as the call is answered, it offers to be used for handsfree. It's as if the phone's "CallStatus" messages over bluetooth aren't correct
Subject crosstrek 2014, BlackBerry z10 never had an issue whatsoever, but since I got my 5x, I get half a connection (Bluetooth connects with no audio), with 6.0.1, no automatic connect... Blackberry's reputation may be downhill, but I sincerely miss its reliability and the hub...
Nexus 5X and 6P Uconnect 8.4 Grand Cherokee 2014
I recently started experiencing a similar issue.
I use my 6p for music and audio only, and my 5x for phone calls and sms.
About a week ago, they would stay connected as long as nothing was being streamed. However, as soon as I received a call on the 5X, the phone would lose BT connection to the system, and then connect back after about 30 seconds. It would do that throughout all of the calls, regardless of the length of each call. After the first 2 calls, I started streaming music from Google Play Music on my 6p, and the same thing would happen.
I removed Uconnect from both phones, and both phones from Uconnect. Paired them back again, and it is still doing the same thing.
I will try resetting the Uconnect to factory default later today and see if it has any positive effect, and will post my findings here.
If anyone else has a uconnect system with the same issue, please post it here, and we can try looking for a solution together.
Thank you,
Hello, I am getting weird problem when using bluetooth devices with my HTC 10 (stock rom)
I bought a bluetooth device with aux-in for my car radio.. That way I only enable BT on my phone and devices connect without problems.
But I also have a small Bluetooth speaker I use when I renovate the apartment (JBL GO).
The problem is when I paired car bluetooth device so it can connect automatically and after that also connected bluetooth speaker this one does not want to connect. If I unpair car bluetooth device, the speaker connect normally.. also if speaker connect and I come down to my car and try to pair to car bluetooth device, it doesnt want to connect/pair... Again if I remove BT speaker from paired devices, car bluetooth device connect normally...
Why is that, anyone knows a solution? Why can I have only one BT device paired with my phone?
Thank you for answers
i have this problem too.
Had this problem myself.
Updated to the latest firmware, rom and kernel.
Currently using cleanslate.
Turn on the BT device, make sure no other BT devices are in the near radius which may confuse it, no wireless devices (I know hard in this day and age)
Turn on BT on your phone, hold it up clearly (not laying down) close all apps, and open the Bluetooth menu.
Click the Bluetooth device to make sure it's ready to pair. Then scan on the phone.
Should start picking it up.
Repeating this and turning the BT device on and off periodically, allowing for several attempts at a time before switching off..
Even really it'll work, perhaps a different rom or kernel combination may help..
I have had this problem, once connected it'll always work and work well. It's odd
Same issue somewhat..I really want to keep this device...i dooooont want to go back to the s7. But on the S7, i could have my Gear S2, Sync and LG Tone all paired at the same time...If i got a call they would all ring and i could answer on whatever device...now if i have the LG on, sync wont find the device. or the phone wont allow for sync to use the Phone, because the S2 is using that feature...what gives? just me?

Do you have another device to try it with? i have had a similar problem, but its just my terrible bluetooth rockford deck causing me grief, and an ebay pill. But it did it with a lg g3 and xperia phone as well. so i chalked it to that
Seems like HTC only allows one bluetooth profile at a time. Like it will only allow one device to use the phone profile or one device use the media profile.
I have to turn off my tone for Sync to connect. Sucks.
I've had this problem since purchasing the HTC 10 about a month ago. My Bluetooth earphones work without issue, but I've been unable to connect to my car or portable speakers (pairs but never connects).
After reading this thread, I unpaired the earphones, cleared all devices, and I was finally able to connect to my portable speaker. So glad I found this topic.
Still, I'm hoping for a fix. I don't want to bother with pairing and unpairing just to connect to a different Bluetooth device.
Similar problem
Hello !
I am having a similar issue!
I have been trying to register and pair my phone with my car's Bluetooth.
Every time I try to pair with my car an error message pops up saying "couldn't pair with Hands Free System because of an incorrect PIN or passkey" except it never even prompted me to enter the passkey...
Things I have already tried:
Resetting network settings
rebooting phone
Factory reset phone
Also , I do not have any other devices paired with my phone.
Any suggestions??

Hi all,
Has anyone experienced any weird Bluetooth issues after installing the latest May OTA update (OPM1.171019.011-RZR-180509.5038)? I've realized that the BT controls on my 2015 Nissan Sentra no longer work properly. It doesn't automatically connect to BT anymore and no track information shows on the head-unit. The weird thing is that I CAN get music to play, at least.
I just wanted to know if I happened to be losing my mind after numerous reboots and re-pairing between the car and the phone.
Same for me. I can delete it. Pair it again and it works. Next time I get in the car it won't reconnect.. worked fine before the update at the weekend.

It's a fire an miss actually. Sometimes it reconnects automatically with the car's unit (alpine aftermarket) and sometimes it doesn't. I had noticed that if I get in the car for the 1st time today (for ex), it won't reconnect back and i have to cycle around the input in order to "kickstart" the reconnecting process. If I make a stop along the way, stop the car, get out (thus interrupting the connection) and getting back after a while, it will reconnect automatically without any issues. I'm not even taking it out of my pocket. But this scenario is happening since day one, not necessarily from the last update.
On the other hand, I got a smartband (coincidentally after the last update) and now, while the smartband is connected via BT, when I turn on my BT wireless headphone adapter, it won't re-connect anymore (simultaneously with the smartband) and if it does, it's without media playback. As a workaround, I have to 1st turn off the smartband, clear the BT of any active connection (And also any other device with media playback capabilities), turn on the BT adapter so it will connect full, then turn the smartband back on. And not always works like this.
So, I do have on an off issues with the BT stability and connections with various devices, not just car unit.
Strangely though my smart watch connects no problem and the stereo in my motorhome was connecting at the weekend. It's just the car ( a Vauxhall Astra) that refuses to connect unless I delete and re pair....

I can't get music to play with Spotify or YouTube. The phone connects fine, shows song info but just won't play no matter what I try.
The weird thing is that calls work perfectly. Sound through car speakers and mic works. Just doesn't want to play music.
I've tried unpairing, re-pairing, deleting, even factory reset on both phone and stereo. Worked fine before the 8.1 Oreo update. (I'm on 3 UK handset).
Im having issues as well, it will connect the first time when I manually connect the phone and stereo to MyLink. It will say connected but (No Media) so i try to pair the media and it disconnects my phone from BT and then i have to delete device and re connect device manually. As well if i leave the vehicle or turn it off then it will disconnect. Not just my vehicle but the other showroom vehicles do that as well. Can someone let me know if there is a bluetooth upgrade or a firmware upgrade that can fix this problem? is there anything that we can do for this let me know. Thanks!!
I am having the same issue in my bmw.
I can delete the phone and re-pair... But it sucks having to do that every thing.
also having issues as well. It connects to my headphones and the after market HU in my truck but it will not connect at all to the factory HU in Genesis Coupe. I have tried to delete and re pair and still nothing.
So currently it all works for me with the latest update. It definitely takes a little bit longer than normal though. Not sure how long some of you waited, but compared to my old phones it feels like an eternity during the time it doesn't connect. I also use a smartwatch and it is always connected to that. If you guys need or want any files, let me know. I'm currently waiting for a usb-c to usb-a cable in the mail, so once that is here I can try to help.
I think this is all more of an Android issue. I was having most of the exact same issues mentioned here on my LG V20 on Oreo.
I just for a Razer Phone 1 off eBay this week. I did the Pie update and within a day, the bluetooth issues have returned. Sometimes phone won't connect to car stereo - sometimes reboot stereo, sometimes toggle phone bluetooth off/on, or sometimes just wait 10-30 seconds. Doing the same showing info on car stereo display, but no audio transmitted. I also had similar issues using a OnePlus 3 with both Dirty Unicorns and Resurrection Remix Pie ROMs. I was beginning to think it was my car stereo until I read the comments on this thread. Seeing so many others having the exact same issues on factory and aftermarket stereos (mine is an aftermarket), and knowing it's happening on different devices and both Oreo and Pie , I'm thinking it's an Android 8 and 9 issue.
So, somewhere in May I received the automatic update to Oreo 8.0. Hurray! Sadly though, that's when my bluetooth problems started:
It connects to my car, as normal. And I can make and receive calls, as always. But during the call my bluetooth connection with my car would just drop. If the person on the other end of the line is patient enough, I can just reconnect while driving and continue. But it will drop once each minute. It's very frustrating. This worked flawlessly before the update.
Funny thing is there are no issues at all when playing music of a portable speaker. I can even play spotify through my car's speakers without problems. The problem only presents itself during calls on the carkit. To make sure it's not the car, I tried some other phones. My wife's samsung, also with 8.0, worked perfectly. So does my daughters Iphone with IOS. My car is a Volvo C30 from 2012. It has built-in phone connectivity.
What I tried:
- Unpairing and pairing again.
- Hard reset. In combination with re-pairing.
- Using the developer options to use Bluetooth AVRCP 1.4. In combination with unpairing and re-pairing.
- Using the developer options to use Bluetooth AVRCP 1.5. In combination with unpairing and re-pairing.
- Disabling automatic bluetooth/wifi scanning in the location settings.
- It even went to the repair center for a different issue (unresponsive touch-screen) and the repair notes stated that they also installed the newest software. So I had hopes that this would resolve my carkit issue, but it didn't.
Do you guys know any more tricks for me to try?
I have an XA1 ultra with Oreo 8 as well (build 48.1.A.2.21) and I'm experiencing the same problems, but adding that mine disconnects also when streaming music. Other problem I'm experiencing after the Oreo update is that, when using my watch (LG G Watch R) paired with the phone, the sound streaming is just crap, with lots of jumps and bad audio quality. This is so frustrating that I'm seriously considering buying a new phone ( not from Sony, of course)
:crying:
Anyone?
