Set CPU

I am Running 2.3,
What profiles should i use? this look alright?
And is it really worth using?

i like the screen off profile, as that makes a real difference for me in battery life, however i see no point in having battery profiles. do you really want your phone to become slower just because you drop under 50% batt?
normally i would want it to keep going full speed and in the case that im on the road and need to save battery as much as possible i would change the setcpu profile myself (and probably switch off sync and 3g)

Your <30% profile will never kick in, since that is also <50% which has a higher priority.

Newb question: Does one have to have a rooted phone to install Set CPU?

^^^ Yes.
SetCPU needs superuser privileges to do its thing.

Priorities fixed now, I used it with less than 50% and the phone was just as fast doing regular tasks and web browsing

Am just using screen off dont need to use any other settings.

You also need a custom kernel, the htc one can only underclock not overclock

I just use <30% battery, 768Mhz. I let HAVS do all the rest.

So because I have a custom Rom Leedroid, I dont need to disable the driver?

What is HAVS?
Also, what's better for batt conservation (w/out sacrificing speed): Undervolting or underclocking?

HAVS is a set of instructions from the kernel governing the CPU, it undervolts and under clocks the CPU when it is not in use. Undervolting and underclocking go hand in hand.

I have just 1 profile:
screen off: max around 384 MHz. and mim 245 MHz.
Does that makes sense? :-O

[Q] HTC reduced cpu frequency in update?

Hello, I heard that HTC reduced the processor frequency in "One X", due to the high temperature of tegra and battery lifetime (In update, maybe 1.29?). Is that true?

My AnTuTu score went up so I'm guessing not.

not reduced just doesn't ramp up as often as before

Did they change the CPU scaling governor?
I remember talk a little while back about On Demand and Interactive governors and which one was best

antutu only shows what the max speed is and its only 1.5 on a single core, when on 4 cores you can only get 1.2 GHZ and 1.4 GHZ on 2 cores.
look at terga stats at bottom on screens

No It's always been like this, the update changes how the CPU speeds up and down e.g 50 MHz in idle to max speed, all its done is help the phone use the lowest possible speed to save battery.

Battery Drain vs Frequency

Question: I've noticed that my battery drain will often exceed -1000mA at low cpu frequencies, e.g. 350mHz.
This usually happens when wifi or 3g is on and I assume something is syncing. What is the mechanism behind high drain under low cpu load?
Details:
Codename Android 3.8.0
Samurai 10/10 kernel, -25mV undervolt
350/1200 mHz, dyninteractive gov

Anybody? This really has me puzzled - cpu is currently running at 350mHz but is pulling 1300mA and is draining the battery at the rate of -56%/hr. 3G is on,with relatively good signal.

Maybe you have a wakelock?

i'm puzzled as well. i know that underclocking can cause battery drain from the cpu actually having to cycle more for certain tasks at lower clock speeds than it would at a higher clock speed, but that's about all i can add to the discussion and i'm not sure it really pertains here.
what is your screen off max freq?

a 1A drain is telling me something is either wrong, or everything is active on the phone (screen brightness, nfc, bt, wifi, 3g, gps) etc etc. Need more info

I'm a battery freak, so nfc, GPS, and bt are always off and brightness is usually at 4%. I use push Exchange and manually sync my other accounts.
This has been a consistent issue with this phone. It typically drains at -30 to -600mA, but will sometimes spike to -1000+. My battery will last 10+ hrs with 5+ hrs of screen time, but I'd like more.

CPU speed for Snapdragon 808 1.44GHz?

So today got my replacement new G4. Dowloaded the CPU Z app and it shows my cpu at 1.44. But my benchmarks in antutu are fine.

Can someone check theirs and see hat it says? I think i know whats going on. The two cores 4 and 5 are the 1.8GHz and 0-3 are the slower cores.

It's hard to catch 4 & 5 doing much of anything, so I launched a huge game that takes some time to load, switched back to CPU-Z, and snapped a quick screenshot. The apps just report the max CPU frequency incorrectly. They probably just need to be updated for the 808.

That's because you aren't doing anything....
Take your thumb and scroll up and down fast and you'll see it go up.

My thumb wasn't fast enough to get 4 & 5 above 1.4 GHz while taking a screenshot. Launching a big app was a lot easier. Obviously 4 & 5 do move some, but the concern was that they were capped at 1.4 GHz since all of the apps show that as the max CPU frequency.

It's the governor and cpu control that does this - it regulates speed for temperature and battery control by changing the value in sys file system, so cpu monitors that read that once and treat it static will always get a false value.

Here are couple of screenshots showing the 2 high power cores 4&5 at their maximum speed of 1.82GHz. As well as their speed history.
I used System Tuner app from the Play Store. You don't need root to use the app to monitor system usage.

Has anyone checked the frequency the cores run at yet? Mine doesn't seem to go above 1.59 Ghz (checked using Better Battery Stats and CPU X). Antutu score was also low. Something doesn't seem right here.
OK, scratch that. I used the Quallcom Trepn app and that showed the cores firing up to 2.2. Still don't know why Antutu is low (113000)

Try enable max CPU in developer options. ( or something like that ).
I did , mine jumped from 113000 to 136000.

I'm having the same issue with my Antitu score. The funny thing is, I get a higher score with performance mode turned off!

Heat Problem.
The phone throttles down.
Put it Into the fridge if you want a higher number.

It would most definitely eat up more battery. It's good for running (relatively useless) benchmarks, but certainly not meant for everyday use.
