HTC 10 Soft Bricked - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

I have a HTC 10 which stuck in a boot loop, with s-on and that's the problem stopping me from reflashing the firmware. No Recovery or Download mode as the phone just loops and there's no HBOOT or FASTBOOT option in the boot loader.
From reading the forums this seems to be a problem and HTC customer service is no help as the phone was bought on eBay through the UK and the phone came the UA and they want me to call UA customer service for a fix.
My question is, can I create a boot disk on a SD card and talk to the phone.

Please don't send him off to the HTC desire forum, no idea why you would link somebody with a HTC 10 there ?

The M8 GPE comes with the Google Camera (which isn't that good in quality).
So you'll get more blurry, less sharp shots with it (It's a 4MP camera -.-).
You also can not download the HTC Camera it won't work anymore without rooting.
I recommend getting the developer edition and S-OFF that, then converting, has more uses.
Though i'm pretty sure the GPE version can also be converted to a Sense ROM (Don't quote me on that).

I know all the above im s off and on the dev edition but when i go gpe i have that problem, i want to know if it happens with a original one out the box bought from google, with the blurry night pics and flash not working well with the camera.
I wonder if @graffixnyc can help here? Not sure if he had a real GPe or not, though...

I do wonder if the mid and cid have to match the gpe in order for the camera to work properly.
That wouldn't have any bearing on how the camera works, unless you did an OTA update with the wrong CID which can lead to issues with WiFi, etc.

Initial Question/Comment: Why did HTC think it was a good idea to disable flash while focusing? (In dark environments) Any way to enable this?

Well at least we know there is nothing that can be done if you switch to GPE best bet is a dev edition conversion and stay on sense.

Yeah, I have an original (Unmolested) stock GPE bought from google Play store.
Nope, no issue as you describe at the moment. In a dark situation it'll flash for focus, then it'll flash again for the shot.
The blur issue might also be from a deteriorating lens cover, there's a thread on the subject somewhere.
The issue you describe did exist for a short while after the 5.01 OTA, but disappeared after HTC pushed a Service Pack.
There have been a total of two "HTC Service Pack" updates after the 50.1 OTA (that I've noticed). Latest SP Version is 1.1.853606
Your guess is as good as mine as to whether it was the Service Pack that solved this, as HTC's documentation for these SP's is vague at best.

The US Developer Edition IS Sense, it's just the US version of the International Unbranded M8

Well then that would mean something is wrong with the conversion to GPE?
What we would need to put this to the test, is to get someone with a original gpe and the very first software 4.4.2 post a back up from twrp, thats the only way.

I wish I could help you more, but I have had a "feeling" that the converted model is a different animal to the stock GPE.
The issues I've had with my device seem different than with the converted devices.
The one thing that is obviously different between our devices, is that your device is S-Off.
I've read somewhere that some converted GPE's have had issues with lockscreen, and music playback (never an issue on my device).
There was a post that the fix was to S-On again. Seems illogically unrelated, but you can't argue with a result.
As someone up-thread eluded, this is a question for the likes of a heavyweight such as @graffixnyc, if you can get him interested.
Anyways, let me know if you need further info from my device.

Thank's
Golv, thank you for your reply. I have found this last weekend but "exclusive membership" required what I don't have.
Does any other link exist without membership?
Unfortunately not. Only US RUUs get officially provided by HTC. All others get leaked from websites like the one that got linked by Golv. Most of the non-US M9 RUUs that you can find for free on the internet, now, got bought on one of these paid websites and reuploaded on AFH, GDrive or similar free hosters by the buyers, afterwards.
Ok, I have upgraded my account and get the rom. Phone working now. Thanks for your replies.
Would you maybe be willing to re-upload the RUU on AFH and to contribute it to the ReadMe thread by posting a download link there?

If you send me a link for the location I will upload it.
This is not an RUU just a zip only.

Yeah, most of the "RUUs" are only rom.zip files, nowadays. Somehow, people started calling the rom.zip files "RUUs", as well, although it's actually not the correct term. On the other hand trying to correct everyone is a fight against windmills...
I personally prefer AFH for uploading files: https://www.androidfilehost.com/
It's free and you can directly compare the md5 checksum of the uploaded file with the original file on your hard drive. This way you can make sure that the file didn't get damaged while uploading.
Many thanks in advance for the contribution. :good::laugh:

It's neither an old nor a German O2 RUU. It's the latest O2 RUU and most (if not all) European O2 HTC One M9s use the same firmware versions and therefore the same RUUs. Only the CID differs according to the different countries. (Fun fact: HTC actually labels all M9 O2 RUUs as O2 UK.)

In short... NO you cannot.
To install a Custom ROM requires a Custom Recovery and a Custom Recovery requires an unlocked Bootloader.
Good Luck!

Okay... It looks/seems like you're new to this and I just want to help you regarding the "how, where and what" when it comes to posting an issue on either a new thread or within another thread. This helps others to understand you better and to help them provide you with some assistance.
Also, threads and posts with a lack of information does result in a type of discouragement for others to respond to you.
I'll now begin with what information you really should be providing regarding as listed below:
1) What your device is specifically.
2) What you had done specifically already.
3) What you're trying to do/trying to accomplish.
4) Where exactly are you stuck in. To be more specific, what it is your now attempting to do and the exact error message that your getting. If there are no error messages, then you need to state that as well.
Onward we go...
If you do have a Motorola G4 Plus, there's also a Device Specific area of the Forum where you should be able to locate what you need as well as where you should be posting your issues (this is because those members with your specific device are there and have better luck to receive support to).
Motorola G4 Plus {Device Dedicated} - xda-developers Forum
Based on what you had provided and the results I've came up with, please let me know if the following information is correct so far.
Your Device is a "Motorola G4 Plus" and, after you had performed a procedure (possibly from a location outside of the XDA Forum), your trying to flash TWRP and are currently receiving "Error: failed to load kernel!".
If that is correct, so far, then I'd advise you to look at, search and post your issue within the following thread.
[GUIDE]Newbie Resource Thread[TWRP][ROOT][Restore to Stock] by yeshwanthvshenoy
From that thread, you should be able to progress to the next step.
Just an FYI, the following is the Official LineageOS thread for your device.
[OFFICAL] [LineageOS] LineageOS 14.1 for Motorola Moto G4/G4 Plus | ATHENE by y8nn8ck
You should be good to go from here and I wish you the best of luck!

I'm not so sure as @Ibuprophen. Maybe there is a .IMG file somewhere that can be installed with fastboot. But this will be the same procedure as fastboot flash recovery with TWRP. So we should find a solution for that.

Xperia Z4 going back to stock ROM problem

I installed Lineage on my Xperia Z4 in an attempt to get the PPP app working but with no luck. No I want to go back to stock rom again, but when I try Flashtool it sees the device as CB5A2B32HT and NOT as SGP712 as it should be. Flashtool refuses to flash and quits. I have also tried Xperia Companion's Software Repair but it also terminates with an error message.
Is there some way to force flash the stock rom back into the tablet? Or something else I can do?

Thanks for the suggestions, the first lin descibes exactly my problem, unfortunately there is no solution. I have tried to flash system.sin from a downloaded rom in Fastboot mode, but now the tablet won't boot, it gets stuck on the Welcome screen. I also tried to flask kernel.sin but it won't do that saying this is not a boot. Any idea what to try next?

If it was me, and it involves Fastboot, I would try to locate one of the threads on the forum specific to General Fastboot or, I'd even try to see if anyone within one of the other Xperia Zx (Zx meaning Z4 phone, Z3, etc...) areas has a similar issue.
You can always try to obtain some member guidance within one of the following General Q&A forum threads.

https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2257421
I feel that this can't be a 1 of a kind issue but, more of a seldomly experienced/discussed issue that may be experienced by similar variants.
I really do hope that you locate some help soon!

SOLVED!
Version 0.9.18 of Flashtool will flash the stock rom regardless of what version the tablet reports.
