I'm just new here so if I'm posting in the wrong section, its ok to move it.
Anyway, my problem seems strange. On my Es file explorer. There are 2 slots for sd card and my mine was on the second.
When I try to tap on SD Card analyst, its detecting something. Not my sd card. Btw, mine is 32gb.
So I check the folder location of sdcard on my device, it's on the system, not my external sd card. the name of my external sd card is 16FD-1415 and the file that supposedly there co'z i used it as external storage wasn't there.
Actually, first I'm having the problem of creating on backup on twrp. it always says failed to mount /data (invalid argument)
so I guess that's the problem why it's failing to mount.
I dont know how to attach image!

Failed to mount /data is because your phone is encrypted. To decrypt it, you would have to format /data, but that would defeat the whole purpose of a backup, don't you think?
As for the 2 slots for SD card, do you have adoptable storage?

I have an EVO and can't get my SDCard to mount. I think it is a card format issue. I was getting a lot of SDCARD damaged messages. I could get by them by rebooting. I rebooted and copied everything to my mac. On the copy it said there was a problem with the "tmp" folder. I thought I was deleting the tmp folder from my backup, but actually was the SDCARD copy. I rebooted and then unmounted the SDCARD, and tried to reformat. It gives the Format SD card, then erase everything, and then back to SD & phone storage immediately. Mount SD card does nothing. When I reboot, I get SD card safe to remove. I am running amon_RA (RA-evo-v1.7.0.2) recovery, Burnt Droid 1.0. Nothing in recovery that accesses the SDcard works. I do not have a card reader. Cannot access the SDcard from anything. I am thinking about returning to stock and taking to Sprint for them to format card. Any ideas before I do this?
How do I know which one I am viewing when I mount my phone to my computer? Reason I ask is because there are some things I save in an app which usually save to my sd card, but I do not see this folder when I mount my phone to the computer. I always see this folder when I mount my other phone though.
well on mine, the SD is actually called SD Card, but if your SD storage is different than the phone, you can always right click and properties/info to see the storage and from there you can tell which one is which.
Ok, so I've searched around and haven't really found an answer to my question, sorry if it's been answered before.
I'd like to format my ENTIRE SD card as an EXT3/4 filesystem, and was wondering if it would register as a normal SD card under Android, or will it be used a "system partition"? Would i be able to transfer files freely using a file explorer and would apps using the SD card (not apps on the SD card) for data run properly. I'd like to have a different file system used as FAT32 is a little ancient, and EXT is much better. I'm running Ubuntu as one of my OS, so mounting it on my PC wouldn't be a problem.
Thanks.

It would still be seen as an external SD card whatever file system you format it as.
Thanks. Although, i was reading through that thread and it says that the SD card will be reformated to VFAT on reboot. Is this true for the DHD too?
Possibly. I wouldnt know to be honest. Might aswell wait until somebody who knows about this can answer.
Hello,
I have a 16gb SD card that I am trying to format. It has an EXT4 folder on it that I cannot delete. I cannot write to the SD Card as it is showing as in use.
I have a back up for my Desire but it is on my PC, therefore I cannot write this to the SD card. I can only access the SD card through my PC as when it is in the phone it will not mount.
Could someone explain how to delete the EXT4 folder so that I can write to the SD card? At the moment I have no Mobile!
Many thanks,
Simon

I guess you mean that you have an ext4 partition (formating normally doesn't care about folders).
I would suggest formatting the sd-card with an sd reader outside of your phone.
An alternative would be re-formatting your sd via recovery if you have clockwork mod installed. (or e.g. via adb: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=534714)
OK, managed to delete the file through EXT4 Recovery and mounted to my PC. Thankd for the help by the way!
Simon.....
yesterday i flashed ics on my a100
i followed the instructions here and it worked
then I did a factory data reset and rooted my a100.
but now the problem:
when I connect my tablet to the pc, I see the internal storage and the sd card. on my a100 I see the internal storage and the sd card, too. but the sd card shows not the correct data. for example I have two videos on the sd card, but can't see them. the same with apk's. when I put them on the internal storage, I can see them with a file explorer(I tried different...ever the same). but the sd card is recognized, when I unmount and mount it.
can someone help me?
EDIT: I formatted my sd card. in the settings it shows that the sd card ist empty. but when I start a file explorer, it shows folders on the sd card. it seems like the file explorer apps didn't update the sd card file system??
Its worth noting that file explorer apps from the market default to /mnt/sdcard which is in fact your internal storage, if using astro you can navigate to /mnt/external_sdcard which is in fact your SD card

thank you!
before I flashed ICS I had no problem. ...learning from mistakes
