How does one change the IMEI?
I've tried this without success:
1. Root your device
2. Download and install QSPT and UltraEdit (HxD would also do).
3. Download an IMEI converter.
4. Get hold of a working qcn (I used my own which I know works in my other P2). Open the file by using Ultraedit/HxD and try to locate the IMEI. In my case it often starts with "08 8A...".
5. Use the IMEI converter and input your true IMEI. Memorize the output.
6. Return to the qcn file. Write it over with the IMEI output you got in step 5.
7. Save the file.
8. In a terminal enter:
su
setprop sys.usb.config rndis,diag,adb
9. Restore the qcn file from step 7 by using QSPT. You click on QPST configuration and go to "ports". If your port isn't already visible go to the device manager, look up the Qualcomm Diag port and add it. For me I believe it's COM9. Now you click on "start clients", then "software download". Tick the "Allow phone/file ESN mismatch", locate your saved qcn file and start restoring it.
10. All done. Reboot!
Apparently some XDA members managed to get their signal back once the modem was deleted so I guess somebody should know.
Other methods I've tried include flashing stock MM and installing OTA until you're on S251 as well as restoring an older full TWRP backup from when your signal used to work. Needless to say, they didn't work.
This procedure worked for me. Lenovo K6 Power with Qualcomm proc.
Successfully I found other users qcn file and wrote my IMEI in it.
Signal is back but diag port disappeared and I can't turn it on again.
WhatsApp me or call me 8436243173
WHERE CAN I GET THIS QNCN ? I'm confused
I had same problem, here are my steps with qcn backup file from working P2. My IMEIs stays right. Sorry for my english and here is my link and read next threads from that forum.

this method works for me, but I am not sure if it will work for you. I have to warn you that I am not a dev, I am just a basic android user. I came up with this idea out of desperation because my phone cannot receive and make calls for almost 4 days. so do this at your own risk.
note:
* make sure your phone is rooted.
* make a copy of your old efs backup and all your important files in your computer or in a flash drive.
1. copy and write on a piece of paper your imei # which will be found at the back of your phone. it is 15 digit
2. copy your efs.img (not the folder that contain the efs image) to your internal storage. it is about 20mb. if there are two files then copy both.
3. connect to wifi and go to playstore and then download and install the IMEI Tool N7100 by Dr Ketan
4. download and install xposed installer and make sure to install update.
5. go to this thread and download and install imei changer
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/xposed-imei-changer-t2847187
make sure to activate it in exposed. then reboot your phone.
6. using ES File Explorer or any file manager with root privelege, go to /efs and delete all files
7. open imei changer then input your imei # (the one that you copied at the back of your pbone) then save. to make sure that your imei has changed dial *#06#. check if your imei if its the one you have written. if not go again to imei changer and change then make sure to save.
8. open IMEI tool by dr. ketan and restore efs backup. it will ask for root privelege so click grant.
9. after restoring efs, reboot to recovery and wipe cache and dalvik then reboot. check if you have data connection.
10. if its not working then go to recovery and make a full wipe and install new touchwiz rom (i used DN4 when I did this, but its up to you whatever you like). and repeat the steps.
* that's all I did mate. there is no scientific explanation about the process that I made, but when I did those things, my phone is working fine again. hopefully it will work for you brother. Good luck and God bless!

I followed the same procedure but did not worked.
One more thing i would like to mention that in recent past i got my complete pcb replaced by samsung service center but imei was same. and the backup of efs which i did was on previous pcb/motherboard. could that be the reason i am not able to restore imei?
hello everyone,
my device sm-n910a is currently working well with wifi connection, i'm using it in asia, so i need the IMEI to unlock the phone.
But unfortunately my IMEI went null, i don't know what caused it, but since the IMEI is still good, here's what happened :
1. I tried to unlock via *#9090#, i forgot what i've pressed, my phone immediately restarted itself, and it went in bootloop (switched on for about 1-3minutes and the phone restart itself again).
I've realized that the imei and baseband went null (*#06# shows "null")
2. Then i found an article in other forum to fix bootloop problem.
i followed the instructions there without realizing that it's supposed to be supported with a service box (octoplus)
The instructions are :
1. Downgrade to 4.4.4 via Odin. Extract OC4, extract Odin, open Odin, select four files into correct position (BL, AP, CP, CSC) 4.4.4 OC4 Odin 3.09 (Samsung Mobile drivers required)
2. Once on 4.4.4 or below, enable developer options by tapping "build version" several times, enable USB debugging & mock location, and install KingRoot 4.0.0.233 to phone. Caution, newer versions did not work for me.
3. Open "Command Prompt" and type "adb version" should reply with "Android Debug Bridge version x.x.x", if does not, change to the correct directory where adb is installed via "cd" command. Need ADB? Here
4. These next two steps can be a little tricky as the phone often reboots before completed, must work quickly, I suggest copying the long command, then paste when ready.
5. Connect to working WiFi. Turn off your phone, reboot, or wait for it to reboot itself. Soon as phone turns on, open KingRoot, soon as WiFi connected notification appears, touch button in center of KingRoot app, soon as KingRoot reaches 30%, began adb commands.
6. ADB commands: first command "adb shell", second command "su", third command "dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p10 | dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p13 | dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p14 | dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p15 | dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p16" phone will reboot or you can reboot and after reboot boot-loop and unknown baseband will be fixed! Can now write new IMEI via "Write Cert" and possibly "Write QCN" if any network troubles, then all good to go!
Click to collapse
3. After finished all the instructions given, my phone's baseband got fixed, but the imei still unknown (*#06# shows "/01")
4. In the instructions said that it can be fixed by "write cert" from the box.
Unfortunately i can't find any box seller in my country.
And i've brought my phone to Samsung Service Centre, they said that they're going to TRY installing another ROM, and they said that the risk of the process failure is my phone will be dead, and if that happened, i have to bring back to US AT&T to fix the phone (which is very far from my current country).
I didn't want to take the risk, so i currently using my phone only with wifi.
I've checked via Root Explorer and ES Explorer while being rooted, the efs folder is empty.
Unfortunately, i don't have any backups from this phone.
Any solution for this condition?

Invalid imei fix
NOTE this only works if your IMEI shows INVALID. If the IMEI is blank then follow the second post.
Switching between Lollipop and Kitkat firmwares in Desire 820s can sometimes result in invalid imei in system or when dialing *#06#
The best solution is to reflash your original firmare. However if you wish to stick to your current firmware then you can easily fix it with the following method:
This only works for invalid imei in system or in dialer and not in bootloader
What you need
Rooted Desire 820s
Download Root explorer from this link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.speedsoftware.rootexplorer&hl=en
Now use root explorer and navigate to the root of your phone. You will get a folder named "data". Open in and inside it you will get a folder named "nvram". Rename "nvram" to "nvram_old" and then reboot your phone.
Your imeis should now be back
If you still have network problems
Open dialer
Dial *#*#4636#*#*
Select Phone information
Set preferred network type: choose GSM only. (It might change back to Unknown but keep on choosing GSM only until network appears, then you can choose another option)
Blank IMEI Fix
If your IMEI is blank when you type *#06# in dialer because you accidentally formatted the phone with SP Flash Tool then follow this:
(Only works on Kitkat firmware. So if you're on Lollipop you'll have to flash KitKat first)
1. First Install Gadget CDC VCOM drivers on your PC using this tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9nCfN3bdayQ
2. Download NVRAM DB 820s file from here https://mega.nz/#!4DhgFQrC!vcS5n6tJb1yjjSISrAa0gtATyrmksCNMm0hSCn7hEMw
3. Download SN Write Tool from here https://mega.nz/#!IWxGmDba!UGFtSQUVOLrj1b9LhNdd-0JzuwOvbDuUelXwxYJJ7z8
4. Extract both of them
5. Open SN Write Tool folder and run SN Writer.exe as administrator
6. Let ComPort be USB VCOM and Target Type be Smart Phone
7. Click on system config
8. Under Write option tick IMEI (if Serial Number is also affected tick it as well)
7. Under IMEI option tick dual IMEI
9. Under DataBase File click on MD1_DB and navigate to the NVRAM DB 820s folder and choose the file named =>> BPLGUInfoCustomAppSrcP_MT6752_S00_MOLY_LR9_W1423_M D_LWTG_CMCC_MP_V1_P21_1_ltg_n
10. Then click on AP_DB and navigate again to the NVRAM DB 820s folder and choose the file named ==> APDB_MT6752_S01_KK2.MP13_
11. Click Save
12. Click Start
13. Insert the original IMEI 1 and IMEI 2 of your phone as shown on the box you bought your phone with and Click OK (If Serial Number is also affected type it here)
14. Switch off your Phone and connect it to the PC with a USB cable
15. Wait until it says PASS then reboot the phone
If you're still facing problems download this file https://mega.nz/#!ZaRzVCjD!bzN0oSo6ruujOOXHyt2NjpW54IFqfLrwO2yWpWALZ24
Install these drivers:
Gadget CDC VCOM Driver (most important)
MediaTek DA USB VCOM Port
MediaTek preloader USB VCOM Port
MediaTek USB Port
WiFi NVRAM WARNING: ERR 0x10 fix
What you need to perform the methods..??
1. A Rooted MTK device
2. Root Explorer.apk
3. Wifi Error Fix.rar
How to do this?
On Your Rooted device go to root Explorer
And navigate to File system root/
data/nvram/APCFG/APRDEB
There you will find two files named 1) WIFI , 2) WIFI_CUSTOM just simply delete these files
Now extract the files from the WiFi fix.rar
and move the extracted files to the previous (root/
data/nvram/APCFG/APRDEB) folder.
Reboot phone

IMEI number is a personal identifier and if gets corrupted you can loose working of SIM in those phone.
Why would it happen?
1. Probably you went High and cause your modem to get corrupted?
2. Or the Old way deleted/removed/ate away NV_RAM file of EFS partition
I CAN'T EMPHASIZE THIS ENOUGH BUT ALWAYS KEEP BACKUP OF YOUR EFS PARTITIONWhat should I do in case my mobile gets no sim card status?
+>Try changing ROM in case there is no IMEI in the About Phone section.
If problem persist
+> Install your modem again
Get NON-HLOS.bin file its located in firmware released by ASUS on our device, Unzip the firmware and then goto folder 'firmware' in that you can find NON-HLOS.bin

Advance user can do this TWRP, In case anyone need that ask me ? Otherwise I think this is best way to go for it? easy and simple
Reboot your phone.
it works? YESS? YAAAAAAY
no? WHAAAAAT? Congratulations messed up with IMEI
Let's fix it.
You need
1. Proper functioning and working brain
2. Your IMEI number for both SIM
3. A windows computer(I searched a lot for Linux alternative but its not available that's sad)
4. Download qcn file which will be prototype ( Get it from another post in this segment by @Vimal Vinz)
5. Download and install QPST from https://www.qpstflash.com/downloads/QPST_2.7.460.zip
unzip password => qpstflash.com
6. A hexadecimal editor tool ( in Linux use Ghex if you use GNOME , for Windows go for HexWorkshop )
7. Qualcomm Driver from here https://androidfilebox.com/tool/qualcomm-qdloader-hs-usb-driver-32-bit-64-bit/
8. Can't Resist to mention but please make sure that you have adb installed
9. Have rooted phone.
UPCOMING STEPS CAN LEAD YOU TO COMMIT CRIME AGAINST STATE IF YOU DON'T FOLLOW THEM PROPERLY BECAUSE CHANGING IMEI TO SOMETHING OTHER THAN WHAT YOU WERE ALLOTTED CAN LEAD YOU IN PRISON AND I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY OF YOUR ACTION
Click to collapse
Now what you need to do is:
1. goto .......Here.......... enter your IMEI and copy and paste the generated NV_RAM(hex) in some text editor FOR BOTH SIM
2. Open the "qcn" file in the prototype I gave in step 3 above in your favorite HEX editor
I wonder If I should say it again but please don't make mistake here otherwise you are a criminal *remembers Briteny Spears* save the file to a location.
3. Change build.prop file in your mobile located in /system
use any editor (try ES explorer maybe?) Find "ro.build.selinux " and set it value to "0"
reboot!!!!!!!
4. when phone opens up goto adb shell
su
Click to collapse
setprop sys.usb.config diag,adb
Click to collapse
5. Open Device manager and now you can see a Qualcomm Device
if now reinstall the Qualcomm Driver
6. Open QPST
Goto Ports Tab in QPST
If you can't see any port you can add it clicking on add new port located at left corner
After you can see ports goto "Start Client" menu in menu bar and in that select "Software Download"
Select port and qcn file (which you edited before ) and click on start button to start flashing !
And at last reboot your phone and the problem is SOLVED !

Hi,
I have my 5T rooted with Magisk and TWRP recovery.
I've upgrated from OOS 9 to official OOS 10.0.1 flashing with TWRP as usual. I did a full nandroid backup before.
Everything went fine until I noticed that during the booting of the phone after the flashing, it didn't ask for the SIM code as it used to. And once the mobile had fully restarted, I could see 2 new icons on top of the screen picturing the 2 sim cards that can be contained in a OnePLus 5T. They were striken through, as if not present, when I had My SIM in Slot 1. And so, no mobile signal, no data network.
I tried switching Sim cards with another mpbile. My SIM worked fine in the other mobile and the other SIM was not recognized by my mobile.
I've read that I could be facing problems of damaged EFS. So I tried restoring through TWRP the EFS partition from the Nandroid I had done before. Nothing. Same thing with the modem partition. Nothing.
I tried then to restore the EFS from a safety backup that I had using Fastboot. Nothing.
I could still try to restore the full nandroid backup done at the beginning, but I forgot to take out pin protection code before taking the Nandroid, and I've read somewhere that it could be an issue after restoring the system. I might not be able to restart the phone and be obliged to factory reset, witch I would really like to avoid. And anyway, if restoring with Fastboot did not work, I wonder if the full restore would change anything.
Anyway, anybody has a magic idea about might be happening? A little help please??
Same problem!
I'm having the same problem. I have my 5T rooted with Magisk and TWRP recovery.

I'm seeing this too:
>"once the mobile had fully restarted, I could see 2 new icons on top of the screen picturing the 2 sim cards that can be contained in a OnePLus 5T. >They were striken through, as if not present, when I had My SIM in Slot 1. And so, no mobile signal, no data network."
I did the same thing and had the same no result.
>I've read that I could be facing problems of damaged EFS. So I tried restoring through TWRP the EFS partition from the Nandroid I had done >before. Nothing. Same thing with the modem partition. Nothing.
I'm looking for a solution too.
I came across this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5t/help/baseband-imei-lost-t3834334 and this: https://www.getdroidtips.com/how-to-repair-and-fix-imei-baseband-on-oneplus-5t-a5010/
I've been reluctant to try and rebuild the QCN file, but it might work.
Working on this
So I'm working on reprogramming the IMEI using the Qualcomm tools. I was able to use them to back up my phone and see the it still has the correct MEID.
However, the .gcn file linked to below isn't accepted, with a weird error: "The file model MSM8998 does not match the phone model MSM8998. Please select a file for the MSM8998."
I'm not sure what it isn't liking. In theory, I think I could just put the IMEI numbers into the QPST programming tool, but I'm not certain where they would go and the correct format for them (with the chksm at the end or not?).
This is as far as I've gotten. I'm looking for an alternate .qcn or .qcnx (which is the kind the tool generates when saving files).

Hi
I've found a code (*#06#) in a page that gives you the MEID. It worked for me. Hopefully, I have the correct MEID too. The code for the IMEI did not show anything. I'll check the lynks you posted later today.
Thanks for sharing!!
PS. I can not include the lynk to codes page as I'm too junior a member and XDA forums won't let me.

So I've tried te rebuild the QCN file. But my issue is that I can't make the ADB comunicate with my mobile. It is as the mobile was not plugged in?? The usb debugging is activated. I can browse the mobile memory from the computer. But the ADB doesn't lynk with the mobile; when you type adb devices, it says List of devices attached and nothing after. Any idea what might be happening?
What about you rootlessabroad? could you fix it?
