i have an s7 active that was frp and network unlocked. i am trying to use this on tmobile.
my s7 active is running android 7.0 G891AUCS2BQC2
sms, mms and emails seem to work but not the wifi calling option. the wifi calling option is greyed out under settings.
i need the wifi calling option and like the S7A.
in posts regarding the S7 and S8 active i saw thoughts of needing to flash tmobile software to get this to work
any ideas?
thanks

I've searched for the answer for this, but found nothing...I apologize in advance if this has already been asked.
I have a Verizon Note 3 with a Tmobile SIM/Service, and would like to use the wifi calling/UMA feature that T-Mobile offers. In my office the network coverage is non-existent for all carriers, but there is wifi access. I can get online fine, but can't send a text or make calls. From what I understand Verizon has this feature blocked (or non-existent), Can I flash a T-Mobile ROM to activate this feature, or if I install a developer ROM, will this feature be available?
Thanks for any input!
your phone does not have the hardware to do WiFi calling. Only a T-Mobile phone will.

I believe tmobile is the only company that has wifi calling....tried to switch to verizon a few months back, and i asked them about the wifi calling if they had it there reply: "we are sorry, but our network is far more reliable then as of tmobile, and hence we dont need wifi calling" lol. so yeah, its not blocked, they just dont have the right hardware in place and even if they do, they wont be anywhere near tmobile...hope that made sense, kinda typing this while falling asleep
Sprint note 3 has wifi calling
Hello, can anyone tell me if there is an option to enable wifi calling on the N930FD. If there is, it should be found in the dialer>3 dot button>settings then scroll to the bottom. Thanks in advance.

Is this for T-Mobile? Were you able to use wifi-calling eventually?
No I was asking for Rogers in Canada. However, since there were no responses I stayed with the N930W8 Canadian model because wifi calling is a must for me due to poor reception in my area.

If it's like the S7 Edge Duos then the sim card that you want to do wifi calling from has to be in sim1. If you put it in the sim2 slot then it won't work. I don't remember why this was as I returned the S7 version in favor of the Note 7 and just getting it unlocked ASAP.
If you have the setting I should think so. Open your dialer app and go to settings, it should be the bottom setting. I know it is with mine here in the UK.
I currently have an Unlocked Galaxy S9+ directly from Samsung running on Verizon's network.
I can't seem to find a way to enable the HD Calling/Video Calling/Advanced Calling features.
Some rumors suspected if you installed the MyVerizon app it would enable the advanced calling menu, but that didn't work.
Is there any way to enable these features?
Is there a command through ADB to enable this?
Would I need root access?
EDIT: Model Number: SM-G965U1 - Snapdragon
No way to get Video and WiFi calling to work (yet), but go to Connections, then Mobile Networks and you can turn VoLTE Calls on or off, which is HD voice. It was there by default on my unlocked S9+ on Verizon. If you don't see it, you may need to add HD calling to your Verizon plan (it's free, but you have to login to the website and add it as a feature).

Ahh, I already have VoLTE enabled. Guess I will have to wait until someone finds a way to enable those other features.
Thanks for the info!

Yeah, I know that they support video calling, along with a ton of other apps, but there is a native video calling option.
They got it working on unlocked S8, using some of the APKs and CSC from the Verizon phone. See below:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve...to/how-to-video-wificalling-unlocked-t3615027
Or just by flashing the whole Verizon firmware on the unlocked phone (kinda defeats the purpose of getting the unlocked phone):
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve...axy-s8-unlocked-version-wifi-calling-t3699806
So I'm hoping it's just a matter of time, as I also need the WIFI calling to work on my unlocked phone. I think that's what is needed in order to send texts over WIFI via the Verizon Message+ app, which is what I ultimately need when in poor signal areas (sending texts over WIFI, without getting a second number with Google Voice or asking people to install secondary apps like Allo/Duo). Or I could just switch to T-mobile I guess, where all these things work with the unlocked phone without the additional hassle.
Here is to hoping we can get wifi calling and native video calling working on the unlocked s9/s9+ phones for those of us on verizon.
I have the S9+ (G965U1), and I have used the included Wi-Fi Calling app.
Look for Wi-Fi Calling.

I just got my unlocked S9 what do I need to do to get everything working on VZW I mean HD Calling, and video calling etc.? I've never owned Samsung Phones, I've always had unlocked bootloader HTC phones that I could do anything I wanted with. I don't know anything about Samsung accept "Odin". I still havn't put the sim card in cause I was thinking of returning the phone.
Thanks for the hint Dudeman456! I found WiFi Calling under system apps and went to its settings and activated its permissions. Now I can send text messages over WiFi using Verizon Message+ app (and not the included Messages app or Android Messages). I still don't have WiFi calling through the default phone app on S9. I wonder if there is a different phone app that I need for that purpose (Verizon Phone app?).
Same issue as my unlocked Note 8 I got from Sammy. You can enable video calling in the *#*#4636*#*# menu. You will not be able to activate WiFi calling though unless you flash the Verizon firmware. You also will not be able to use any Verizon features such as watching NFL games (but I think that is changing and won't be a Verizon exclusive) and premium visual voicemail. Really is a deal breaker for me.

What in the world does this mean "*#*#4636*#*# menu"????
All,
This is a KNOWN issue with Verizon.
I got my S9+ on Wed 3/14 from pre-order and could not get video calling to work. Went to Verizon store on Sat 3/17 preparing to wage war with them. The Verizon tech stopped me in my tracks and said it's already known. An email sent from corporate to all verizon stores indicating the problem with video calling. It is an issue with Samsung software which they are "diligently" working to correct and will push an update soon.
Notice this.. go to either MyVerizon app or the website and login. then go to devices/manage devices...then go controls then to adjust service blocks and you will see the video calling is blocked and cannot be unblocked. Apparently this is done for "our own good" until Samsung fixes the issue.
No date from the tech on when a fix will be issued.
DONT try anything crazy to enable video calling..just be patient and wait for the fix. My S9+ is unlocked too and i was assured that video calling will be enabled once a fix is issued.

That is odd. I am using my G965U1 on Sprint and my Wi-Fi Calling app is in the regular app drawer with everything else. I did not expect it to work, since it is Sprint, but it did. The Wi-Fi Calling app was available before placing a sim card inside.

I don't think it will unblock. If you didn't buy the VZW branded phone you most likely won't get video calling. I assumed this from the start. I spent a good portion of the day speaking with a VZW 2nd level support engineer supervisor with 20 years experience. He asked is there anything else that could be done besides unblocking video calls to make me happy, because that at this time it is impossible as the phone is not a VZW phone. Look in you phone profile on their website, does a picture of your phone show up? My profile is blank, that means the phone is not in their system of phones, even though I flashed the full VZW package with bloatware and all after first a full reset. My Phone has VZW splash screen and all the advanced calling menus, in about phone it says SM-G960U, but that block cant be removed. Maybe I screwed up somewhere and alerted them by booting with a sim card in? Maybe they flagged my IMEI? I don't know but the rep said point blank they can't unblock video calling on that line, and unlocked phones are not supported.
Are you all seeing LTE+ (carrier aggregation) on your Verizon S9 devices? I'm in Vegas and my device appears to sit on B13 (700mhz) and does not hand off anywhere else.

Yes - unlocked on Verizon.
You need the right apps for Wi-Fi calling and some in framework. I don't own a s9 but that's what you need to do to get it to work. Along with some csc edits
Hello everyone,
Yes, I'm a noob here but online research, etc. tells me that XDA is the place for me. I am a IT tech, just not a programmer nor have I done a lot with flashing phones, etc.
based on some basic searching my issues seems to be common.
I am a T-Mobile user and I now have a new AT&T Branded Galaxy S9 SM-G960U. I paid a third party to provide me with a Samsung unlock code. I unlocked the phone last night, had T-Mobile update my account with my new Nano Sim, etc.
All is working except I can not enable WiFi Calling and of course there are some advanced text messaging features that I can not enable, i.e. sent receipts, etc. I tested the phone with a active AT&T sim and the features work fine.
Does anyone have a work around for getting WiFi calling and text features to work using the T-Mobile Sim?
Do I need to some how flash a T-Mobile ROM to the phone?
Any help and guidance would be greatly appreciated
it will never work because is att brand. you needed to get international model.
I'm not so sure.......... I have the SM-960u1 and have flashed various AT&T FW to it at least 50 times and cannot get any IMS features to work. I get get the ATT bloatware, software, splash screen. But no VoLTE, WiFi Calling etc. I am tired of flashing. Back to Stock U1 for me.
AT&T is the same. They keep promising wifi calling for unlocked phones but I can't get it and neither can 2 others I know with unlocked phones.
This sounds normal. I have an AT&T branded Galaxy S6, which has wifi calling, but I'm using a MintMobile (T-Mobile) SIM. Wifi Calling is grayed out. There's probably some sort of check in the software that only enables the wifi calling if you are using an AT&T sim.
Yes, you have to flash the T-Mobile firmware with the latest modded Odin, or the unlocked U1 variant firmware (for which TMO's RCS messaging and video calling won't work-with U1 firmware, I mean). If you flash the TMO firmware, it's for all intents and purposes turning the phone into aTMO phone, with bootscreen, bloat and all.

You will need to flash to the U1 Firmware then Flash the T-Mobile firmware. AT&T's Wifi Calling is proprietary and thus their phones software won't work with other Carrier's Wifi Calling.
Hi all, I switched providers today from Verizon to AT&T and my S9 is working fine with voice, data and TXT however voice mails is messed up, I had to get AT&T Visual Voice Mail from APK mirror because my voice mail wasn't working and still not dialing from the dial pad when I press and hold 1 as in the AT&T native phones.
Anyways I would like to use WiFi calls and other native AT&T features, so is it possible to flash AT&T firmware on my Verizon S9 via Odin or so???
Can anyone please direct me to the process/firmware? I am also concerned about the firmware updates that I might not get from AT&T if my S9 remains on VZW firmware.
Thank you in advance!!
Flash this OTA https://firmware.science/download?url=52758/1488/SS-G960USQU3ARG7-to-U3BRH6-UP and you'll have the BYOD update. Another thing, wifi calling on AT&T will not work at all because your IMEI is not part of the whitelist in their system to use it. I think the same goes for VoLTE but I'm not sure.

Thank you for the feedback FatalONEM8.
After I manually flash, do you know if the next OTAs will come automatically or I will have to manually flash them forever?
Not having access to WiFi calling is a bummer but well, if everything else works I will have to leave with
By the way my current firmware is G960USQS3ARG8, I checked and the upgrades available are G960USQU3BRH6 and G960USQS3ARH7. The later seems to be an add on by the size of it, should I apply both?
Thanks again!!
