Downgrade from 6.0 to 5.1 android XPERIA M5 - Sony Xperia M5

Hey guys I have one question to you. When I upgraded my XPERIA M5 from 5.1 lolippop to 6.0 Marshmallow, my phone doesn't work like before update. My phone has problem with taking a photos (defocus), all time the lagging and turning off often. So my question is Can I downgrade my phone to 5.1 lolippop because in my opinion this phone better working on this version software. I from poland guys and on my polish forum people are talking that flashtool doesn't good work with this model of phone for example the lot of people spoiled your phones. If you have a problem with my english I'm sorry but my english is not too good.

Flashtool works perfectly fine. I'm still yet to find how people keep bricking their phones

Yeah i agree if you use the most up to date FlashTool you should'nt have any problem's.
Even if the fsc script isn't included your ftf file as long as you sync FlashTool when you start it, it will still ask if you want to include it so as long as you answer yes you won't brick it.

WiFi Issue in Certain Countries

Hello
I'm new here so they wouldn't allow me to post on the Dev section, anyways, I bought my Xperia S with Android GB in it and it has been with me for a while so i keep updating it. I installed the last software Sony has (JB .96) before i started flashing custom ROMs, however, i noticed that the WiFI stopped working in all the JB versions (.200, .211, .96) and when i did some research i found that Sony has activated its restriction program on some countries these are Sudan, Iran and Syria, as far as i know. me, i'm from Sudan, i figured that the the device shuts down the wifi ONLY when it detects the SIM card, as when i try to remove the SIM of turn on AirPlane mode (then restart the Device to start on AirPlane mode) the wifi works just fine.
when the wifi is locked, i can still turn it on, but the device starts to get very slow and it keeps searching for networks forever, and when i turn it of it take a loooong time to do so. installing custom ROMs did not fix this problem as most of the ROMs are based on the JB builds. i tried other solutions like trying to change the country code and so, but still, no luck. i might have tried lots of things here but frankly i'm not a developer, but i succeed to flash ROMs and Kernels by following your instruction, which u do very well on it .
I though that you guys did not encounter this issue before because you are not is a in a country that is under "US sanction" , but i'm sure you would have fixed this problem if you have heard of it
sorry for the loooong post hehe.
just one last thing, I LOOOOOVE what you guys are doing and i really do appreciate it, i WANT to donate but, there we (guys from Sudan)
can't create a PayPal account or so, again "US sanction".
oooooooooooookay i guess i'm not welcomed here

Can,t u just flash for example PureSlim KitKat rom? Im using it now, it's working 100% fine and much faster than JB or any modded JB. Im 100% there will not be any wifi restrictions here.

Hi There
I'm from Sudan too and I'm facing the same problem as @BMBcin I've tried Zillions of ROM's to solve the problem (I don't know about the restriction thing but putting the phone in flight mode didn't help either , my friend have Xperia Z and WiFi is working fine for him ) if someone come up with a solution please post it here
my phone is xperia ion, I have this problem and solve that

Several doubts and some help! (newbie)

Hi everyone I'm new in this forum and I don't know anything about this smartphone world but I have some questions about my personal Xperia M. First of all I want to apologize for my bad english coz I hate web-traductors so I don't use them.
A friend told me I should install CM11 (Cyanogenmod If I remind correctly) in my smartphone coz it'd be better, I've tried to find some information in Google in my language coz I barely undertand the english technicisms for smartphones but I didn't fund anything so I decided to post in this forum.
I heard tha there is no official version for my smartphone and If I install an unofficial version this can broke my smartphone, is that true? Do you guys think that the CM11 is advisable for my Xperia? I want to know if It'll improve the performance.
How should I start If I want to install CM11 in my Xperia M? I'll let you some information:
Xperia M Android version 4.3
Xperia M C1905

I am also a newbie to Android like you
Do you have a PC with you?
Then why don't you make root access on your phone?
About 75% of my installed apps requires root to get its full potential.
I am on XMD (2004).
otherwise I would help to root your phone.
there maybe many threads for rooting your handset (1905)
CM11 is one of the greatest option for the beginners i have ever seen!!!.Pros Are -
1. Extended Battery Life
2. improved performance
3. KikKat UI
I think you can go for it

& its 'cons' ?
I have heard that many options will not work with CM as it is still on beta stage! is it right?
also if I couldn't lock my boot loader, I will loose my warranty also.

no problem with CM. cuz you can always lock BootLoader via flashtool and there are some minor bugs ( No problems to the user with these bugs)

[Q] Help, rooting 4.4.4 (292)

I had my ZL rooted and bootlocked. I received an OTA update, tried to install it, it downloaded, tried to install but TWRP interefered whe the device restarted.
So I got sick of it, and updtated via Sony Companion.
Now I have an unrooted ZL with Android 4.4.4 - 10.5.1.A.0.292
I can't, for the life of me, find a thread to how to root Android 4.4.4 292 (I must suck at searching) or there is one?
Any help will be much appreciated :crying:

I believe there is a thread for Z, but not specifically for ZL... Anyway, check this post for a quick summary of a rooting procedure that you need to follow. Let me know if you have any questions. As far as I am aware, you must downgrade your kernel for rooting; there is no direct method for .283 and higher. I have done it several times, works perfectly. Just a bit of a hassle with extra flashing steps...
Oh, and BTW, in my experience .292 is a bad update... I had to roll back to .283 due to noticeable lags. It looks like I am not the only one, as some other people reported similar issues. I hope it works better for you...

[Q] xperia z1c lollipop memory leak issue

is current xperia z1c lollipop still have memory leak issue ?
I used lollipop for 2 days already. and it always restart my game (minimized to background) after I open browser to use google (yeah only 2 recent apps displayed. chrome and game apps).
I hate this because my game need long time and heavy bandwidth at loading screen. I never get this problem when I used kitkat. I heard there's xposed module to fix this memory leak issue but my phone isnt rooted.
or is there a way to return to default OS (kitkat) like when I first bought it ? maybe I'll do this way. reset it to kitkat again. but I dont know how.
thanks.
You can flash stock kitkat with flashtool. I should have stock EU . 157 rom somewhere on my pc and can upload it if you want.
Flashing stock rom is pretty easy. Watch a tutorial or something. I can help you a bit more when back home.
Back to your question. I have no idea I'm still running kitkat as L is still not available in my country.

is it working to use your stock rom at my country ? I thought different country have different kind of rom. not sure about this if this is true or not.
flashing stock rom doesnt need root access, right ? and maybe can I also backup current lollipop OS that I have so I can reflash it when it has been fixed ?.
so far what I like from lollipop is when someone call me, I can still use other app because call notification only use small box on top of my current running app. I like this feature very much.
It depends where do you live. If in EU it should be fine. If not I can find a rom good for your location.
No, flashing custom rom does not require rooted device.
I think you don't have to do the backup as you'll be able to just update it again ( at least I think so)

Yes. But you dont have to backup the OS. You can download the Firmware using the XperiaFirm Tool >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro...xperifirm-xperia-firmware-downloader-t2834142

Generally you can root your phone without unlocking bootloader. It worked for me, at least on kitkat. I'm not sure what about the Lollipop though.
You should better ask someone else too as I'm not as experienced and don't want to give you false info.
But if there's pre-rooted rom here and it's working for android L you don't have to unlock bootloader to flash it.

okay I can get lollipop with root+xposed (all day tried this. I read some tutorial how to do it properly because this is my 1st time doing something like this. so tired ). although I dont know if xposed wont work perfectly like you said because I only use 3 modules so far. App Settings (keep screen on for game I'm playing) and Fix Lollipop Memory Leak and gravitybox (LP).
what I've done :
- downloaded kitkat 14.4.A.0.157 from XperiFirm. and flashed it using flashtool.
- I've realized .0157 can't be rooted for now. so I've used your link that you gave (Root FW 14.4.A.0.157 (LB/UBL) ).
- after get root access, then I installed recovery using Z1C-lockeddualrecovery2.8.11-RELEASE.installer.zip from http://nut.xperia-files.com/
- after that I flashed 14.5.A.0.242_CustomizedFR_Pre-Rooted_Dualrecovery 2.8.10 + Fix Xposed for Lollipop using recovery.
- and flashed Massive debloating and Xposed. links and procedure are also from that pre-rooted rom thread.
so far, no bootloop. dont know if I add some xposed modules again. I heard it will get bootloop if too many xposed modules is installed (?)

I dont know that. But I heard that activating some module(s) when some other module(s) is(are) active may cause bootloop in KK.
Hey there, the XperiFirm dev here.
No one answered your question so I will. The answer is: No.
Sony made sure to include the memory leak fix built in (the exact fix that the Xposed module offers) for their Lollipop releases. The Xposed module is pointless.
See attached screenshot. Basically the Xposed module replaces the AOSP function with exactly the same function but with this additional "release()" line. As you can see, Xperia already has this line included.

wow thanks to coming here :victory:
lol. so it's pointless to install that module because they are same thing exactly. time to uninstall.
actually my game is still restarted after I browsing a little. although I still see a lot of free memory in here. before, I thought this is because of that memory leak issue but I'm wrong.
if only there's module that can prevent lollipop refresh/restart/clear my game at memory when I minimized it at background.
I have the same problem, only with audio apps in the background. Pocket Casts, Stitcher and BeyondPod all crash and stop playing when running in the background, after I do something else like load the game Threes. This never used to happen with KitKat. I've also noticed that iplayer radio gets very jerky and skips back and forth by a quarter of a second continuously as soon as I turn off the screen. [edit - I just listened to it for a few minutes with the screen off and it suddenly cut out. I turned the screen on an the app was no longer in my notifications tray]
If Sony fixed this particular memory leak, what's going wrong with my phone? Could it be related to the fact that I've encrypted if for the first time? I'm getting desperate enough to consider factory resetting and losing everything, because listening to podcasts and playing threes is one of my favourite activities. It's not a demanding game for my year old, top of the line phone. My cheap tablet manages it, and so did the phone on KitKat!

Should i go for customs?

Hey there,
I'm using g4 since 06.2015 and i have never use anything custom for this phone. I had sony arc s before and i was doing lots of custom things on that phone cause it wasn't enough for daily use etc etc. And i have g4 now and i have 0 informations about how to root it or how to unlock it etc. But i have problem with it's battery usage. Nearly 4-5 hours screen timing which is not really awesome for this expensive phone ( it was quite expensive when i bought and countries have different prices as you know)
Anyways what do you suggest for me? Should i try customs? Is there any custom rom&kernel without any problem? Any lag problem or smt? Is there a way to lock bootloader again and delete root?
And i need some guides for starts. Maybe some rom and kernel suggestions. Please help me.

I'm not normally a huge supporter of custom kernels, but when I got my G4 a while ago I decided I'd give a few a try. It was a great decision.
So far my favourite is Imperium kernel- it's updated frequently with new features, and for me has been stable every single release. Plus I get WAY better battery life now (an extra hour of SOT at least, and standby time is much higher too). Highly recommend it.

Just read this.
If you have a locked bootloader, there's nothing you can do as far as a custom kernel or ROM goes.
You can downgrade to lollipop and achieve root, but it won't be the same as a custom ROM or kernel.

I would certainly think so! At the very worst you won't lose any battery, so you may as well try it if you already have TWRP installed. Just be sure to make a backup before installing in case you do want to go back.
HOW DOES EVERYONE GET 4 OR 5 HOURS SOT?!?!? I can barely get to 3.5 with an extended battery

I also am new to the whole LG scene- I think a backup of the system should be all you need, but you might want to double check on that.
I actually posted a thread about a similar question here but no one responded to it.
Alternatively, you should be able to just flash the default kernel or the default system over top and effectively be back to a completely stock ROM.
Hey there.
It's h815 here. And i check a topic about country codes which can unlock bootloader. Anyways mine was TUR. Which means turkey i assume. What happens if i follow the thread on lg website for unlocking bootloader but my cell can not unlock?
