Hi everyone. I just wanted to make a thread and see how many people were jumping ship to the newer devices. And why?
Note 4? - Is it really worth the upgrade right now?
Note Edge? - Is the new curved edge display gonna be functional enough being that it is completely new tech?
I'd like this to be a spot where we can debate differences, pros, and cons. Really just looking for other people's input because I'm really torn between the Note 4 and Note Edge.
Also my Note 2 is still in perfect condition, runs great, and does everything I need it to still. So I'm also deciding if I really need to upgrade or not. Decisions, decisions ?????
Sorry if this is in the wrong spot.

I am making the jump. I think the edge will end up like the Mega forgotten about shortly after its release.

Thank you for your input ?
Right now the only selling point for me with the Edge is just that WOW factor when someone does see you have it they'll probably be like "woah what phone is that", because of the edge screen.

Yea it has the wow factor. But they displayed the phone a year ago when they talked about the galaxy round which never made it to the U.S
I can't help myself...
I want a new phone every year. I know that some need to change even more often, but I get trapped into thinking I "need" the better screen, camera, etc. I love the Note product line. I've had all three. I have to say that the Note II was by far the best upgrade, so far. In fact, to be honest, going from the Note II to the Note 3 had as many downsides as upsides in my opinion. From my personal experience, the camera was not better - it had more features (mostly useless), but the autofocus did not function as well as the Note II. I had more blurry pictures on my Note 3 than ever on my Note II. You start to realize that once you get a good camera, the upgrade to higher MP isn't as important as having a good camera that just works. That was one of the letdowns I had with the Note 3. The other is battery life. First of all, the orignal Note had a horrible battery life and I thought that was just going to be the price of having for an enormous phone with a great screen. but the Note II solved that issue in spades! The upgrade to the Note II was worth it just for the battery life alone. The Note 3 on the other hand was a pretty serious downgrade in battery performance... at least from my experience. Which brings me to the topic of this thread (finally)...
I'm very concerned that the battery life will take a step backwards from the Note 3 to the Note 4. The screen on the Note 4 is unbelievable, but there is a price to pay in the battery. I find it crazy that the battery size was not bumped up to accomodate. I know they stated in their intro that it was something like 7% more battery efficient than the Note 3, but I don't think THEY even believed that, because it was just thrown in at the end. Instead they spent time talking about how they made it faster charging. I don't know about you, but I don't want to plug my phone in during the day, every day; even if it is only for 30 minutes for a quick charge. Battery life is just too important to me, as I learned from the original Note and I don't want to go backwards AGAIN. the Note Edge has an even slightly smaller battery and the extra screen that seems to have an "always-on" feature. I'm even more worried about that one.
Hmmm. Maybe I'll sell my Note 3 and buy a Note II and pretend that is my annual upgrade. HA!
FYI, last weekend, i saw the edge at best buy's on display on friday in san francisco. i went back on monday to see it again and it was removed.
Just setting up my edge right now, coming from n1, n2 and n3. Loved my n2 the best. Just got it a couple hours ago, but it's cool. Was going to get a n4 but they were out of stock.

I plan on getting the nexus 6 in a few months. I like the shape of it. Dual front facing speakers. Pure stock. I don't use the s-pen often. I have had the original note now the 2. I use straight talk prepaid AT&T Sim so the international 6 will be a perfect fit. And by February I may find one a llittle cheaper. I like the note series but the nexus 6 has the bigger screen and less crap and no TW. And I dont have to root it to have a pure stock android experience. I like the note 4 but I just like the N6 better.
Am using a Note II with DN4 ROM which has all UI and app updates till Note 4. Have been using the phone since the past 3 years now. Have got bored off it now.
Was waiting for the Note 5 but Samsung guys screwed up by not having expandable memory slot and a removable battery (non negotiable for me) So, was thinking should I wait for another year for the next gen Note (which MAY have the said options) or should I settle down for a generation old Note 4. The downside I feel is I've already experienced the Note 4 features (which are hardware compatible anyways). Would the screen and snappier processor be worh it?
Thanks
Ive used the note 4 my cousin has.. Its basically the same but a little faster which is not noticeable on daily use. The camera is better for sure, but it is not a priority for me and definitely not worth that money. I can get a point and shoot camera for much less.
And i dont want the note 5 for similar reasons.
. First.. Its almost similar again. There's nothing new
Second and third..no expandable memory and no removable battery
Fourth..no ir blaster which was one thing i really wanted on my note 2.
Fifth: glass back..ill need to spend more on screen guards.
And that is why im going for the iphone this time. Ill always have the note 2 to test all the latest cyanogen mods and others.
Ok. No.. I'm now back to comparing s6 edge plus and the note 5.
I can live with the five things note 5 doesnt have.. but i wont be able to live with the limited stuff on apple.
You cant even download a file properly there.. wtf.
The otd pen drive costs 2500 bucks. It costs 50 bucks on the android.. woth an otg cable..
The camera is better. (I've seen almosr all the shootouts.. even tho the reviewers seem oddly apple sided)
The iphone 6s is so fragile (scratch and drop tests) i drop my phone all the time..
The battery life.
Do tell me what you went with. I think I'll wait for Diwali for prices to go down a bit.
hi guys,
Let's consider that in 1 or 2 months everything will be back to normal and Note 7 will be back in stores and no one will be harmed again and the buzz is gone.
I don't imagine that Samsung will change the screen Gorilla Glass 5 to something less fragile in addition to the battery, so this will still be a weakness for this phone, because to MHO this seems to be its only real flaw (except the battery), Android Nougat will certainly arrive in few months from now too.
so my questions are these ones:
- Will it still be the best phone of the year?
- Won't we have more difficulties to sell it back within 1-2 years from now without loosing too much?
- Is it still worth buying it?
Also,
If it's still one of the best phones of the year, is it worth waiting Christmas period for hoping having promotions and discounts or Samsung has already lost enough with it and will not provide any more discount on this model and will focus his promotions on his other flagships S7 & coming new ones?
It's the best Android device available right now. If re-sale value and GG5 bother you then yes, it's worth considering those points further. Spec wise, no, it's not matched in the Android space.
I would imagine (I could be wrong) that Samsung will be desperate to put the Note 7 behind them and release the S8 ASAP to do a massive ad campaign and regain some lost sales.
Yes the Note 7 price will drop, yes resale value will be affected by that drop. You will have a fantastic device and if keeping for even 12 months in my opinion it's worth while.
Samsung Galaxy Note 7
:good:
All know that Note7 is epic and I rly doubt it will lose value unless sammy rly drop it's price when S8 will come. Best phone? To iPPL it will never be the best phone, looking at android world the price is not so great but if you put it aside it's sure the best phone of this year... Anyway I don't care. I will get mine and be happy if S8E will be cool I might try selling the N7 and move on. Usually my phone last me 2-3 years and which point I wan't to get a new one.

I see you posting this in numerous posts. What is it of?
Man, come on, what other device would offer all the fantastic characteristics of the note 7?
one plus 3? it is cheap looking an wayy larger
lg v20? same , but even larger, not to mention the horrible sec display
iphone 7? same looking 2015 device larger and slave-bound
so, what do you feel like to choose?

True. Samsung may have screwed the model reputation, but there is nothing like it currently. Maybe the Pixel phones will change that, but still, they'll be ugly and only geeks (us included) will go for it, so the note 7 will maintain a moderate resell value for those looking for phones in 2nd hand.
I don't play any games on my phone, I use it for business (we do sales via a company app with clients so it's a must), tasks, reading, podcasts and of course messaging. For what I need it's just perfect, I remember worrying what I'd do without root since I had my S3 rooted and that was 4 years of acclimation, now I don't even remember the idea of rooting until I see it mentioned on some forum or article (I know, blasphemy around here, sorry ).
I also (possibly more blasphemy) *like* Touchwiz on it! I had Good Lock on my original N7 until sending it back other day, and it was a nice throwback to the rooted stock Android look I was used to on my S3, but I actually wanted the Touchwiz back! Got replacement N7 and am not even considering Good Lock, it's sexy and I'm happy with it.
Hi,
I am on the fence on buying Galaxy Note 10 plus, as I keep reading articles about the all the new redesigned Galaxy S11 coming in just 5-6 months. Samsung Galaxy S 11 is also being named as Samsung's 'New Beginning'.
Since I am a iPhone X user, but I am ready to switch to android, mainly to Note 10 plus, because of it's gorgeous 6.8" display and S pen.
So, will Galaxy S11 get rid of the hole punch design and come with full screen display? Will it also have 90 hertz refresh rate display? Assuming it will have all these display upgrades, it will be further transferred to the Note 11.
Should I wait for another year for the Note 11 for better screen?
Really confused
Nobody knows what features S11 or the N11 will have, but they'll clearly be better. There will always be a better phone coming out down the pipe, the phone you want now will always be old news months from now. Nobody can tell you wtf makes sense or not, only you can answer that.

I advice you to fully know and understand the s pen and all it is capable of doing, you will love it, or simply not, more to it, anyone buying a note series device should do it just because the s pen, if for the slightest reason the s pen is not that all great for you, do not buy a note series device, get a S series one

I would certainly wait in your case unless your phone is just falling to pieces. From rumors I have read about they next galaxy may even have a camera that is 10xs more powerful than the current ones. If you buy now, in 5 months you will be wishing you could upgrade again. Also, fast charging graphene batteries seem to be just around the corner and could well debut on the next version of galaxy phones. IMO, its worth the wait. At the very least wait for deals during Thanksgiving weekend if you must buy current version of Note 10. In 3 months prices will be at least $200-$300 cheaper than current ones and you'll kick yourself for not having waited and seeing your phone's depreciation.

That is true...there will always be a new phone coming in few months time. That's when I think and get confused of investing 1000$ in it or wait for a better one!
Depends on if you are wanting a new phone NOW. New tech will always come out every 6 months. Waiting due to better tech comes out... That will make you never buy a phone. I personally ordered through Samsung, joined their upgrade program, so I'll get the Note11 and basically have no change in bill. So it's not big deal.
The s-pen is incredible. I love it. I'll never buy an S-series for that reason. The Note is always a more refined S-series anyway.

I like the S-pen and it's added functionality. I would like to use it and give it a try. But my main goal is the best and biggest screen.
My advice try out both the Note 10 and the SGS10 in stores. This will help you figure out, which phone is for you. As everybody I know who have a Note device never use the S-Pen at all.
If you don't need a s-pen then wait. The N10 will have an actual upgraded camera sensor.

The Note10+ pretty much unanimously has the best screen available right now, so I say go for it! You'll fall in love with the s-pen I bet.
Thanks for all your replies and suggestions. I think I will wait for Google pixel 4 XL, iPhone XI and Mate 30pro to launch. And then take a decision.
Wait til the s12
S14+ will be better than all of those

Lol, he can just wait forever, you know, the next model will ALWAYS be better
I am currently using Samsung Galaxy S10 plus. Should I go ahead and buy Note 10 + or wait for Samsung fold?
Depends. Do you want the Fold, or do you want the N10+?
I want to upgrade my phone. Only Samsung Note 10 + is available in market which is better than my phone. Samsung fold is a new tech so is it worth waiting for fold price drop or purchase note 10+?
I always advice others this:
The note series is REALLY satisfactory for those who like an apreciate the features the S Pen provides, if the S Pen is not the MOST important feature for you to have, simply get something else , as you put it, the the S10+ or the fold would be good for you
That's like asking "should I get SUV or should I get 2 seater sports car" LOL. Fold won't be available until around 9/27 and should cost around $1800. Note 10+ is available now for around $1100. I already made the decision (as probably a lot of other people here) to buy N10+, because Fold won't have s-pen, which I use all the time and it's a new tech which already showed to be troublesome in the past. I'll wait to see if all problems are fixed and if much larger screen is compelling reason enough. Also hope for price to come down a little. At home and work I have computers, which I prefer to use over the phone no matter screen size and on the go where I use the phone the most (like driving for map guidance/traffic) larger screen may actually be too cumbersome. I can always sell N10+ and buy fold in the future and couple hundred resulting loss shouldn't be major concern, when you're spending $1800 on the phone.
BTW I agree with Winol, if you don't use s-pen much, there are so many other good phones to choose from, it's mind boggling.

The problem is, you're asking us what you should buy, and none of know what features are important to you. Only you know if it's worth it to you.
It's an impossible question to answer anyway since none of us have a Galaxy Fold.
Do some research, watch some YouTube videos, and decide which one interests you the most.
I think you should actually look at the other foldable phones. Huawei's version is actually a lot better in my opinion. Of course I'm not yet considering all their troubles with the US Gov't. But when I compared the 2, I really felt Samsung dropped the ball there.
With regards to new tech, and given the problems the first fold encountered recently, I would actually warn people from buying the Samsung fold. I previously bought the Note 7 which was recalled 2x. And it was such a hassle. I had to set up my phone 2x only to have it recalled. I sold my old phone too so I ended up without a phone. I had to settle with an LG phone at the time and replaced it when the Note 8 came out.
I would not buy first-gen new tech. Foldable devices will be crap the first few go-arounds most likely. Would not want to be a first adopter. The Note line is 9 years old now definitely very mature while the first Fold literally folded so badly they nixed it and are trying again 6 months later. Go with the Note 10+ or a similar device that is not first gen tech.
for me, first generation tech is always a BIG NO.
The 15 year old is dying for the 2000$+ new tech, but i controlled the sucker and got the Note 10+ and satisfied since i have tab s6 for the heavy stuff. best of both words (phones and tablets) and cost less than the fold

Not so fast my friend!
The S-Pen is a big factor to consider. But there are others that you should take into consideration....
The 12GB of RAM is a huge upgrade. If you think the S10+ is fast, the Note10+ is that much faster with 50% more RAM!!!
