I've tried several modified apk that designed for low spec CPU phone (Ex: Snapdragon S430 on this phone)
Found several phones using this CPU has their apk working properly without rooting phone or enable API stuff.
I tried all of those apk, some of them doesn't install, some does, but keep showing error that it can't connect to camera.
Is there any "confirmed to work" Google Camera app without rooting my phone? I just got this phone and doesn't want to void my warranty that fast?

I bought my M8 last year in the UK and now I'm living in Brazil, so I get no support from HTC (since they've closed the market here) anymore. I dropped my M8 last month and its back camera broke. I don't need to take pictures all the time, but I really need to use WhatsApp Web again - I did the stupid thing of switching from Sense to GPE, so I lost my previous Whatsapp settings and now I need the back camera to read the QR code to activate it again.
So I've came up with two possible solutions:
1 - Is there any app that can simulate the camera using a .jpeg file? That would solve my problem, cause I would just screenshot the QR code on my PC, edit the picture and send it to my "virtual camera".
2 - Is there any way that I can make my phone always open my frontal camera - even when the apps require the back one? I mean, when any app try to use the back camera, my M8 would automatically redirect to the front camera.
I would appreciate if anyone help me with one of the solutions above or even a new one. I have root and I can run some commands on Terminal, but I don't know exactly what to do (and my searches on Google were useless).
Thanks!
Hello all, having come from an htc one m8 I gotta say I'm liking the note 4 so far. I even purchased the samsung gear 2 neo and feel like **** tracy! The question I have and that I have googled and not found too many results on is whenever I open up my camera app I get a message that states "Not for image quality testing. Ok for functionality test". For all case and purposes the camera seems to operate fine as well as the rest of the phone but I'm curious as to why that message would pop up? I have not modified the phone (short of disabling a little bit of the crapware) and I also have tried clearing the cache of the camera app as well as data of the camera app. All my apps are up to date according to google play. I am still within my 14 days of verizon return policy so I want to make sure I don't have an actual real issue with the hardware of the phone. Any ideas are appreciated. I'd prefer to not system reset it or exchange it, however if that is what needs to be done to verify I have a fully functional phone, then so be it.
Thanks in advance!

I have been working on two phones today, had both working to partial amount at points
There is only one motherboard which will power up and accept a charge, and neither camera will work.
I am going out on a limb when I say the camera problem must be in the programming, since I tried the motherboard with the other phone, which probably has a working camera. Though I have never seen it come on.
Any ideas how to force the software to work the camera?
Ok, any one know how to replace every bit of one phone with a working system from an s off of the same model?
I would guess this would be called cloning the one phone's software onto the other motherboard(s).
*Ideally I would refurnish each M8 with the appropriate imei and etc after the switch.
Got this got rid of screen flicker glitch. And now am getting a new camera message after installing a sub camera that cost about $10...where before I was getting a "send error report" which showed a "nullpointerexception", now I am getting "Camera Access is forbidden by device administrator, contact IT team for assistance"
Got this thing working. The first thing it asked after reinstalling an earlier MM nandroid, was that I had blocked the camera with camera lock app..(see screenshot) which wasn't installed in the other nandroid (which was a Lollipop android I had picked up on a "standard nandroids" thread here.
So I simply using the app unblocked the camera, and voilah, it worked.
Don't know how that app does the block despite a complete advanced wipe of the cache, dalvik, data and system...and not being installed either, but that seems to be what it did.
The camera blocker app is something I tried when working in the MM stock system prior to trying about 70 different ROMs and other android sense versions...here is a screenshot from the camera blocker app:
So anyone getting this? "Duo camera is blocked...make sure all caps are off"...have to go the distance here to want camera to work.

I have a Rockchip PX5. Some apps won't work on the radio, like Exxon Mobile(to pay for fuel) and YouTube TV(obviously only used when parked). I was wondering if there was some way to force these apps to work, maybe by spoofing the device or something, or if there's just no way to get them to work on all devices. Sometimes apps will install from the play store and other times I have to sideload the apk. Almost all of the time, the problem I have with the apps is an error within the app telling me that the device isn't supported. Has anyone gotten around this?
With Covid, we've been forced to hand this device to my 8y/o brother during classes, which is not a good thing since he plays games and watches videos in the background during his classes.
We've tried the app-lock available in the phone but he bypasses any and all locks using Focus Mode (which I haven't found a way to permanently disable yet). Any other app-lock apps seem to not work at all on this device (while they work fine on other devices, even after giving device admin and allowing drawing over other apps).
The few apps that worked, he uninstalls them easily. I WISH I could remove YouTube and the other apps from this device, but we don't have my laptop with me for that. Additionally, the App Vault and other homescreen-related options being easily accessible in the settings panel on Home (and not locked by the default AppLock even when Settings is locked) does NOT help at all.
Any ideas? Please, I'm desperate at this point.
PS. The device is Redmi Note 8
