LG G4 Android update issue - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have an LG G4 H81022b. I bought it used from e-bay. It was working fine, the battery was a little weak, it wasnt new.
An update to Android came out, but while updating the battery was very low on power and the update got interrupted.
Currently any time I want to uninstall an app the phone crashes and restarts. Cannot login to skype, crashes also. Sometimes when I want to join a wifi it crashes also.
According the system information it has android version 6.0, Kernel version 3.10.84.
I am not in IT, if any other info you might need please let me know and I check. Is there any way to reinstall Android on the phone?
Factory reset did not help, the same errors were present.
Please let me know how it could be fixed.
Thanks and BR
Adam

Music Stops with Screen Off (F460K)

Hey guys I've had this issue where regardless of what music app I use, a few seconds after I turn my screen off (i.e. lock the device) the music will stop playing until I turn it back on.
Anyone have any idea why? I'm on version 10e (latest according to PC Suite and OTA Checker), and I'm stock unrooted.
Other than that the phone's been amazing and blazing fast, even outspeeding my M8 GPE sometimes

Also, when charging, this problem doesn't occur. This further adds to the mystery...
Also, it happens if I have music local or streaming, so that rules out network issues.

UPDATE: OK so after messing with about every single setting on the phone, I tried switching it back to Dalvik. Fixed everything 100%. Whole phone is faster, from opening apps to web pages.
Very strange... Not sure why there would be so much ART incompatibility, but I guess it's 4.4.2 and not .3 or .4. If anyone else has has this problem (including an inability to wake the phone up without a few tries), check your RunTime. I'm hoping it'll be better next update, but for now this'll have to do.

Hi there!
I have exactly the same problem since I updated the phone to Lollipop (D85520A) but before that I didn't have that problem. Firstly I found this when I updated to D85519H and then I performed another update to the current version (D85520A) and it didn't help. The smartphone is way better, but this problem is really ennoying me.
ART is not available on Lollipop and my phone went only for one day to ART mode and it was a pain in the ass (when I still had 4.4.2) and then I switched back to normal.
I am thinking about to a factory reset and reinstall Android 5.0 on CSE mode AGAIN and see what happens, but I think it won't help at all.
Do you have any idea of what could I do in order to solve this problem?
Thank you in advance.
Fixed
Hi there!
Just a short update.
Like I mentioned before, I got this problem when I updated my phone with the new Lollipop FW (D85519H) and then I tried to perform another update using the D85520A but the problem was still there. So I believe that the update didn't fix the issue from the previous update so I performed another clean update using the same last one and the problem disappeared.
Thank you anyway.

OTA Update failure

Hello everyone
I have a lenovo vibe p1a42
When i bought this phone i was initially able to update without any problem til build no. S147_151288_ROW. But after that when i received notification of new update available, i downloaded it bt I cannot update it. I tried it several time. Every time it jist takes me to recovery mode, starts updating then at 24% it fails. I tried updating manually. I also tried using Lenovo Smart Assistant. But all of them give same result.
I am unable to uodate any furture. Can u tell me what should i do? I hear that this phone has now MM update too, bt i'm stuck.
Also, my phone has stopped vibrating. No vibration on anything. The vibration does works sometimes, bt again stops working in few min. I dont know whether this is software related or h/w prob. I will take it to service center if the problem doesnt solve on updating the os.

Hello,
Try upgrading your phone via QPST and not OTA
Good luck

I wanted to try tht but i cannot find a link for s152 version file. I tried contacting lenovo through their official forum, they said bring it to service center. I think i ll just do that only. Since i anyway had to go there for my vibration problem.

I understand your pain.... lenovo OTA updates are very finicky. If you want marshmallow you can straightaway flash that ROM (the latest one is S285).
But please make sure to backup your data since this will definitely wipe all your data (same as factory reset). There is thread in on this forum which gives a fairly easy steps on flashing ROMs folr Vibe P1.
If you want to root your android 6.0 though, thats a different story.
Still have a look here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/vibe-p1/development/qpst-flashing-vibeui-3-1-s272-rom-t3386650
You can flash ROM fairly easily from flashing steps mentioned in above thread. If you feel rooting steps are complex, you can still stay on unrooted rom, at least it will be the latest one.

LG G3 restarting all the time

Hello everyone. I have the LG G3 model D855 running Android 6.0 and and phone keeps restarting all the time.
Things i've done until now:
1) replaced the battery with another G3, i still have the restart issue and the other phone that uses my battery has non.
2) did a factory reset and upgraded the android software from 5.3 to 6.0.
3) From LG PC Suite i did "Restore Upgrade Errors".
4) Using Android studio i looked at the logs from the LogCat and found nothing special. i saved logs from two different restarts and tried to see if there's anything in common but still nothing.
I have no idea what else to do and it looks like an hardware issue.
If someone has an idea it will be very appreciated.
Thank you very much.

Factory reset on a corrupted Android OS?

So about a few years ago, I tried to root my galaxy note 4 (n910aucu2doi3), but I guess it rejected the root because it instantly bricked my phone, to the point where I had to completely wipe it using android recovery. The only way to get my operating system back was to download it online and install it through my PC (I had to find the exact version for my phone as well, 5.1.1 at the time, because it rejected every single other version).
Everything seemed to be working fine, except that I couldn't install software updates on my phone anymore. It was permanently stuck on 5.1.1. It was a bit of an annoyance but I didn't think much of it at the time.
Fast forward to now, and I'm getting several signs that my OS may be corrupted. My phone is constantly freezing, crashing and restarting. Maneuvering through applications causes the phone to freeze for a few seconds before either restarting or crashing the app. I want to say it's definitely a software issue, but I did install a new battery recently and it was working fine for a few weeks, could that be the issue?
If not, I want to start over, but I'm not sure how, and I don't know if it's safe to do a factory reset on this OS. Is there anyway I can get a fresh stock version of an android OS that can also update?
Any help is appreciated, I'm pretty much desperate.
I manually updated to 6.0.1 with the help of this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-att/general/updates-thread-t3663943
It seems to have fixed the issues so far, and my phone can automatically update again

Sharing your experience of dealing with g3s problems

Hello guys, this thread is for you all to share your experience of dealing with your LG G3 problems, including software or hardware
Whether the problem is critical or not, or even just a tip, they're all welcome!
You can post your ideas now, they can help many people!
If you think your phone with stock rom is glitchy or reboots and hangs randomly, this can help!
Solution
First, boot to recovery and factory reset your phone.
Second, boot back to os, then SET THE DATE TO 2014, and about the date when LG g3 was released.
Do not connect the phone to the internet or do not let the phone knows the current time and date.
Third, please root and install a custom rom ASAP, like lineageOs, NOT stock rom based.
What is planned obsolescence? And why it's related to these problems?
Planned Obsolescence is extremely prevalent in smartphones. Phone companies such as LG, wanted their customers to stop using their phones after warranties, and buy a new phone so they can earn more interest. Therefore they embed software "time bomb" in android phones(usually embed in the stock ROM)These were counting down to the right time after a few weeks of warranty, then your phone would start doing "suicide"(causing problems and damaging itself) resulting lag, freezes, random reboot, bootloops, and even bricked at last.
In the solution, it intercepted that "time bomb", so it will think the phone is still in warranty and stop causing problems to your phone.
This solution can also WORK ON OTHER devices.
Before my stock rom android 4.4 LG G3 F400S had a constant reboot, so I reset it, set the date to 2014/9/12, and installed lineage os 18.1 on it. Everything works again, or even better.
Please share this to everyone, I bet this can help many people and most of them don't know it. Thx
