next question, is whats the best screen protector and case for it?
does yours have a light leak on the edges? How about burn in on the nav bar?
Pinkish tint to the screen?
does Magisk work on it yet, and how long until custom roms are available?
is there even a real release date on this thing yet?

UAG woud be a good choice for the case. Screen protectors, I'm not a fan, so no idea on that one.

they will never lock bootloader they work at look , not at safely, they make phones very fast, ik that phone will be like s7 with battery that make *boom*

Folks,
I am a seasoned veteran when it comes to rooting, etc. but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to unroot my G9+ as I want to revert back to factory and return the phone. I've decided to upgrade to their foldable phone instead.
I'd appreciate any help offered.

I think the best way to unroot the s9 would be to root it again. So the system gets confused and won't know if your device is rooted or not and will eventually start breaking down into tears and then start to give up and surrender it's whole body over to you, letting you do whatever you want to do with the phone. Then you just run some cool commands over in ADB and let those two devices talk to one another. Your device should be unrooted in a few minutes. Enjoy!
Hmm. I'm also thinking of getting their foldable phone though. How's it running for you?

Clockworkmod Recovery v6.0.2.8 v1 for Optimus G Pro

Hello everyone. This is Clockworkmod Recovery v6.0.2.8 v1 for Optimus G Pro.
As you all know, it's 2nd-init recovery. That means if your phone bricks, only lgnpst will revive your phone.
First its how-to is same as the first one with small letters on it
1. Install application that I uploaded
2. Open it and Click 2nd-init recovery
3. Click Reboot recovery to see it worked.
As you know, we cannot change boot image. That will brick your phone.
And if you want to reboot recovery by pressing button, reboot it and you will see button flickering. Than you have to click any button. Fast.
That's all. And of course, you have to have your device rooted.
Thanks to: 985hPaKicK(WHO MADE THIS RECOVERY) and wkpark(who found out the way to increase font size, see this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30818456&postcount=8)

Are we supposed to get a couple fc once we press reboot recovery? Seems to work great otherwise. I just wanted to make a quick backup before I start removing bloat.

I'd not remove the bloat if I were you. If your phone boot loops, there is no way into recovery. I'd just freeze the apps using titanium or something instead.
To answer your question, I get the force closes as well.

I dont remove either. just freeze or disable.
I dunno who created this recovery but until we get a unlocked bootloader theres no way to use this if your softbrick or bootloop. The dev should look into implementing a timeout feature when you reboot your device. The moto phones have this kind of recovery with bootstrap and safestrap. We could use it until we crack this thing.

Yeah ive noticed that. Im debating exchanging mine for a s4. Not sure yet. I have to have at least some kind of aosp or custom rom - kernel.
I'm going to remain patient, but for sure if I don't see any kernels fixing the phone's ability to render live wallpaper without lag I'll be sselling mine and buying the s4 developer edition. That is, as long as it still supports the remote control feature.

Why not just get a regualr s4? Once the bootloader is unlocked you will have aosp. Thats what ill do if i exchange. To be honest ive gone through the lg forums and aside from the nexus 4 these phones dont get much if any love. Shame as this phone is great and has great potiential. Shame i only have a week and 1/2 left to exchange if i have to. I dont see the bootloader being cracked by then.

I have an LG Nitro and there have been quite a few roms (most importantly official CM support) on our forums. I even installed the ubuntu test thingy on mine. But I'll have to admit I do get jealous of some of the other phones who don't just get occasion roms but regular releases of most of them.
welcome to the lg team guy....lolllll when i bought mine last week, one of my motivation was the fact that i"m not such a "flasholic"...so since for now we can root this thing and flash rom (stock rom) with cwm...a debloated rom will follow for sure, i"m positive!!! but dam, compair to sammy on DEV side...its like running in ferrari and fall in "mini" lollll
lg just entering in the "top" device with the g pro...even if the note 2 is 6 month old...its the first phone that i saw lg putting specification beyond sammy in phablet side.....:good:

Sell GN - 4.3 unrooted or 4.4 with root?

What do you think?
And what would be a fair price for each? (Heavily used but in flawless condition since it's been protected in a case and screen protector since Day 1.)

I should put 4.4 with root on it, and when somebody shows interest for your gnex, ask them what they want and tell him/her what consequences are. I have really no idea on price, but I'm sure it will give you at least 15 euros more money than if you sell it with 4.3.
4.3, unless you want to wait for a really stable 4.4 release. You might get an idiot buyer who files a claim that the phone is "broken" from an unstable 4.4.
If you're planning to sell via CL though, just give the buyer the option of messaging you which version he prefers

That's true. I guess the issue then is, would it be possible to unroot and downgrade 4.4, or will that take *another* few weeks/months for someone to figure out how to do?

Interesting, thank you. I figured unrooting would be a more complex process and separate from the downgrade.

It's actually very straight forward, from fastboot just type in the following line to unroot your device after placing the stock firmware on it and bootloader:
fastboot oem lock

Ah yes, that's what I thought. It couldn't have been as simple as flashing the stock ROM.
I just don't want to prevent someone else from receiving an OTA if Google ever releases a bug fix or something, and then cursing me for having sold a phone that can't update.

Bootloader lock state have nothing to do with root.
Beamed from my Maguro
All you do is flash factory images and relock bootloader to get it back to 100% stock

there already is 4.4 for gnex, only buggy, but still your argument is invalid...
for op's question, if I were to sell my gnex now, I'd rather put it in totally stock condition without any whistles, to avoid complains from the buyer...
When I bought mine used I wanted it completely stock so I could learn how to unlock and root the right way as my previous phone had locked boot loader. Due to him shipping as soon as he got off work it was still modded. I had to learn how to reverse it but did manage to get it back to stock. I think most would like it stock for one you can make sure everything works knowing that a bug in aftermarket ROM is not an issue

At this point leave it on 4.3.

I will flash the stock factory image using the flash-all.sh...relock bootloader and i will sell it to.get a nexus5 as soon as possible
Leave it at 4.3, if a user wants to root they can. This is not an HTC where a user might want buy a rooted phone to save them the hassle. When selling on eBay I often time give the buyer the option.

[Q] Verizon Edge and rooted phone

Just ordered a Galaxy S4 through Verizon Edge and if I'm understanding correctly, the old phone has to be traded in. Currently the phone is rooted and running Chillybean's CM10.2 ROM. Do I need to return the phone to stock and "un-unlock" it in order to avoid any problems with Verizon?

I've heard mixed reports. If it's something you can easily do, then I say do it. At the very least, flash a "stock" Rom. I doubt they seriously inspect the device, but I could be wrong.
Wound up flashing a stock PG32IMG.zip image in recovery mode. Might still be S-OFF but are they really gonna know?

The first units out up here have a locked bootloader. I would imagine the replacements do too. There was an engineering firmware from Sprint that you could flash to get root, but I'm not sure what happens after you're on it.. i.e. I don't think you can get off of it (at least easily), no recovery, no custom ROMs, etc..
There are a number of users who returned their W8 Note7 and bought a F or FD model, as the Exynos variant has an unlocked bootloader, recovery, root, etc..

I wish. I also have a W8 Note7. So far I've decided to keep it, although it hasn't been exchanged yet (registered, but coral blue and waiting forever). I may sell it and get a F or FD variant once known good ones are easily available.. or may get something else.. who knows..
For reference, see THIS post for the steps about the engineering bootloader/firmware. Feel free to read through that thread, but from everything I've read the bootloader is truly locked on our devices.
Oh, OEM unlock is a feature added in lollipop. As far as I know it's a standard feature and doesn't reflect the actual ability to unlock the bootloader. Disabling it can remove the FRP lock though.. Yes, I do know you need to use that when flashing ROMs, I had a HTC 10, S7 Edge (W8 Exynos model), and many other Androids before, and I rooted every single one of them. This is the first device I haven't, which is why I'm on the fence..

Just use the Spring Userdebug root and you will be good to go. Instructions are pretty basic. I have the N930W8 as well. The advantage is that you dont void your warranty or trip knox, but then you are stuck on an unchangablr kernel and cannot flash roms/kernels until someone decides to include the system.img and old kernel in their roms, which would be a lost cause, since maybe 3 people have rooted their canadian note 7's xD
BTW, can anyone help me out with systemui? I flashed the modded systemui that includes rom control, and can no longer use samsungs interaction control, which I absolutely need. Please help me out with possibly a zip I can flash that resets systemui to stock?

I used this on my original Note 7 as well as the replacement.
I got my replacement last friday, the phone was said to be manufactured Sep 6th, but I was definitely able to flash sprints userdebug on my new replacement..
I'm running it now, and its actually doing much better than the older device. Much much snappier and longer lasting.
Then again, you mentioned an update, and I usually avoid such things so I hadnt noticed any update. Could you ellaborate on that please? With some links if you can? ^.^

You must have got the device rooted before it updated....nice one!
The new firmware which gives the fixed devices the green battery icon and bad ones a big fat warning to turn the device in. And in some cases limits the charging to 60% tops.
I have all my update crap turned off so avoided it and some like you got lucky..others the damn phone updated immediately and others it came with the firmware.
You cannot odin the previous firmware either..its blocked. And there is no root for it even on unlocked bootloader devices like my dual sim exynos
Its all over the forums bro, easy to find more info but thats the overview of it.

Whaat thats absolute bull that Samsung would do this.
I'm super thankful I blocked the update services with Package Disabler right away then.. I didnt even intend to do it, but I figured I would just in case. I have to reflash the userdebug again though, theres no way it would auto update right?

Just managed to reflash sprint userdebug and root again (on the replacement). I was sketching out hard during the setup, saying to myself over and over "oh my god please dont auto update".
Thanks for all your help! Sucks that the Note 7 is essentially dead now, considering only very little people will have a rooted note 7.

Lol.....just now there is....there was not up until when i went to bed last night. Looks like Dr Ketan found a way around it by not having to flash the new bootloader.
This is what our talented developers do...find ways sround samsung screwing us....god bless them

Galaxy S9 SM-G960U USA version possinle root idea?

In theory what if we where to flash a global rom to a usa variant s9 then proceed to unlocking the bootloader and oem unlock ???
Seems that would have been tried long before now.

well, we could go edit some edits, but one never knows what can happen when people go off and do silly things like that
Idk if this helps but #*9900# will bring up this menu and can enable upload mode (it appears to be disabled from factory) I know that's how the s8 was rooted and thought it might be what's stopping root on the s9 @partcyborg may shed some light on this

USA market S9s are not rootable. The G960U models are screwed. Not that it bugs me because root messes up SPay, and id gladly give up root for that if i was forced to choose. Which I am LoL
EDIT: USA S9's are now rootable. Please refer to the guides
I'm sure people thought the same about s8, it was far from the conventional root method but if we never get root on s9 it's all good but I'll never buy another $700 Samsung if I can't own it. That's what root is about for me. They shouldn't be able to tell me what I can and can't do with my $700 phone and just thinkin about it really makes me wanna throw it in the trash, I'm tired of being a Google slave and I can't remove gapps and replace services without root I'd trade this piece of junk for a s8+ in a heart beat

what exactly are you missing without root? not being sarcastic, just curious. i used to be a root or die kind of person until i was faced with this unrootable device but gained SPay. Honestly, just curious to see what people still use root for

For one, being able to uninstall software you don't want/use that's just taking space. Also, during my flashaholic days, being able to use different kernels to significantly increase battery usage and being able to install lean/pared-down roms for that extra snappy performance.
My s9 is stuck in emergency recovery and will not go into download mode. I've tried everything can anyone help me.....
Someone please work on the Qualpwn I'm willing to chip in something on the bounty and I'm sure I'm not the only one, @partcyborg, wanna make some money?

The S9 has been out for over a year. Plenty of people around here have been picking at it. If there was a way, you'd think something would have been found by now.

those items you mentioned arent as bad as they used to be. The kernels are pretty efficient nowadays and with the advent of the U1 Odin flashable files, there isnt much need to uninstall too many things. Dont get me wrong, i really miss being able to flash whatever i wanted (i started my root journey on the OG Evo, then went to the S3, S5, A8 and now S9) and yes, it does make a difference for each individual phone as they all are somehow a tad different. I wish we could root. I really wish we could root and maintain SPay and SHealth. But even if root is accomplished, but it breaks SPay, ill not root. SPay is that important to me

You're probably right. Haven't flashed anything on a Android phone since LG G4. Been using an iPhone X as my daily driver since that time and just received this S9 when renewing my contract. I've had the LG G7 One for a couple of months and the S10 after that for a few days. Both have been sold since I find them really expensive to risk bricking. You could say my flashing days are waning and just want to stick to secure environment which is why I'm using an iphone where there is no temptation to modify anything. This S9 is still kind of new and just my backup phone so I can still afford to tinker with it but as I found out, it's not even possible to unlock the bootloader so I guess it'll go back in the drawer for now or sell it.

yeah, the bootloader is probably a lost cause for the immediate future. i got my S9 a few months ago for $275 from Cricket and flashed the U1 firmware shortly after getting it. We went to Cancun for a week, so i left it alone before the trip, but as soon as we got home, i flashed it LoL
anyways, i wouldnt blame you for selling it if its just your backup phone especially since there is no real tinkering beyond the goodlock app from samsung themselves, which is pretty limited
To Be honest, theres is no sense in rooting this phone anyway! To what tinker with a few dumb options lol.... Them childish days are gone. Thought it would be neat till I really thought of the constant headaches and bull$hit wasted time! NM
You can might as well get an iPhone if you want to allow someone else to own it for you. I like the freedom it's not childish to not want to charge your phone constantly or to want to remove factory Spyware I don't understand why you would think any of this is childish but ok
