Hello Moto Brethren,
I came across some APKs from the the Moto Z Play. The new Moto Display is absolutely amazing. It shows far more information than our stock one: charging status, day and date, and battery life.
In addition, actions for app notifications are now included. You'll be able to perform the same actions for notifications as you normally would from the pull down menu, ie. mark as read, reply, delete, and dismiss , all without turning on your screen or unlocking your phone.
If you don't have it installed, you should do so right away.
APK is attached.
Additional Moto APKs are at the below link. I didn't install the others, as I use Nova and ES File Explorer.
As an aside, I installed the Camera app from the Moto X4. I like the option of toggling flash right from the camera screen instead of having to jump through several steps. The app works great, but can't take pictures during video recording nor can it be made the default Twist Twist camera app. I can share the APK, if anyone is interested. I will create a separate thread to discuss this, if need be.
Share thoughts and experiences.

Work well! I just wish Motorola would stick to Black / White instead of that blue color for the Moto Display ring!

Great point. I'll take it nonetheless, over the old version.
I tried out the newer Moto Voice. It's completely useless. There's no indication on how to launch it, and your personalized launch phrase has been removed. I have switched back to the original version.
So for, Moto Display seems to be the only useful update.
I tried the new Moto Display it seems working but when I carry the phone in pocket around it makes the phone hot and drains the battery(The phone cools down if I turn Moto Display off) and I can't figure out why, tried clean data for all Moto apps and wipe cache in recovery, doesn't help. So I uninstalled the new Moto Display, then I found the old Moto Display no longer works, it still displays time, but it only display time now. When new notifications came in it still just show time and the lock icon, not the notification's icon, tried every ways but can't get it working again, I guess I'll have to do a factory reset....
You have to grant Moto Permissions again such as Notification Access , Apps with usage access in the settings when you have done clear data.

Thank you, but a little bit too late to see your post
I installed moto display, its cool but not cool enough bcz i cant unlock my phone by sliding lock icon, now i jave to press lock button to display pin code screen, moreover it consumes more battery.
So my question is how to uninstall it? In settings-apps, it shows Moto display but no uninstall button is present, only Disable and Force Stop.
Disable the Moto Display it will revert back to its stock version. Then enable it
Reboot your device.
Then Grant THE PERMISSIONS OF MOTO DISPLAY (Such as notification access, usage access) and of Moto App too if needed Without the permissions , it will not work
I don't understand what you mean. You swipe up from the bottom of the screen, instead of swiping down from the middle. You have more functions with this APK, but there are no changes to your screen security.
If you're having security issues, you may want to adjust your security and screen lock settings.
Try disabling the app. You should see an uninstall button once you do. Uninstall, then reboot.
Moto display
I tried to install the new moto display update and it said package may be corrupt I guess I will have to wait for Motorola to push updates on the play store for thier apps they take so long to push updates to thire apps on the play store ?

how to grant permission?
i just went to settings>apps>moto display and permission tab is greyed out and not cheangeable options, its written "no permissions requested" so how to grant it permissions?
my problem is still same, when i slide lock icon up on lock screen it doesnt show password screen.
i have attached the screenshot.
The same problem.
New Moto Display doesn't unlock if you using any kind of security option (pin, pattern or password)
App will work if you use only Swipe option.
that's bug and nobody want to fix it

Hi.
I don't know if this was already discussed, but Total Commander ADB plugin + BT debugging allows to install any APK on Moto 360 I've just installed ES File Explorer & Antutu, both work. ES File Explorer has full access to SD Card & working photo gallery.
Strange...
P.S. Antutu Score: Moto 360 - 4498 ... I wonder if Towelroot would work
Nice find
How do you get adb access via Bluetooth. I can't find the right plugin.

Hi!
Some interesting findings so far: the single mechanical button on Moto 360 is, actually, standard android "Home" button , while swiping from left to right - is not "app closing", but simple "Back". Android Wear - is just a launcher, like Google Home or Trebuchet.
I'm in search now for working "normal" launcher, Nova & CM11 Trebuchet force close, Google Home requires Google Search that force closes also.
Just got my Moto 360 today It looks like Android Wear will force close with anything that has an ActionBar.
From the logcat:
You cannot combine swipe dismissal and the action bar.

If this is the case shouldn't, in theory, Apex work if the ActionBar is removed or hidden?
ok. i found something too!!!
Go to settings-about- and hit constantly the build number so you can become a developer.
After go back to developer options and there you can find STAY AWAKE WHEN CHARGING and you can turn it off or on. Below are settings to turn on the bluetooth debugging
Good morning guys, I really need help in my huawei ascend p6. It runs on the default 4.2.2 OS. I successfully rooted the phone with kingo root app. It was working fine. I mistakenly deleted the default theme app that came with the phone, because I thought it was the reason why my font style *couldn't change, I was using the wrong font app hifont and font installer, I haven't gotten ifont. So I could not change the lock screen wallpaper because of the deleted theme app, whatever was on the home screen would be on the lock screen. I wasn't very comfortable with that. I wanted to get back the theme app, or any other app that can make a different picture show on the lock screen, So I downloaded the ROM toolbox lite from play store. And the ifont which was working well too, I was able to put custom fonts now. But i couldnt still make a different wallpaper show on the lock screen. But I kept trying to edit other stuff with the toolbox lite. I wanted to reduce the size of my app icons on the home screen, so I added LCD density on the toolbox build.prop and changed it to 160, thought it would decrease the size of the app icons on the home screen of the phone. *After which I restarted my phone and noticed that the screen display *became smaller, I couldn't get to the home screen anymore, I got the message unfortunately home has stopped working, *and then another message unfortunately system UI has stopped working, *and I didn't do any form of backup that I can remember except the theme back up which I tried to install from the toolbox lite. My phone is stock at my beginning screen. It rings when I have calls and it shows the number of missed calls and messages. I can't pick the Calls nor read the messages. I think I ruined the home app with that LCD density change and for the system ui, *I have no idea what happened to make it stop working. So I need help. The phone can go off and on if I try switching off it goes off, if I on it it turns on. It doesn't restart by itself . But just remain at the beginning side with the error message unfortunately home app has stopped working and the other message unfortunately system ui has stopped working what do I do?
My email is [email protected] please help me I need help. The phone is not up to 4 weeks old‎
I would suggest that you reflash the os. Since you were on JB 4.2.2 this is the best on to be on http://dl.huaweinews.com/Roms/Ascend-P6/B132.zip

I have got this weird problem with the Nexus 5x. When I install a new app it asks for permissions and I can't tap allow but I can tap deny. It is not a problem with the touch since I have tried in landscape and portrait mode. Everytime I have to manually go to settings and allow permission(from settings) for each app I install. I'm running marshmallow with June security patch. Very irritating. Any fix?
For me (Nexus 5) it started right after I installed android 6.0 June patch. For the moment can't find any workarounds only manually opening app settings and allowing permission

do you use any app that works via overlays? for example an app that dyes your screen in the evening/at night?
such an app, to my knowledge, would trigger a security feature of android that would prevent the user from accepting, say, installation confirmation.

Nope. I haven't used any app like that on this devwce till now. (Eg.screen filter)
EDIT: Thanks for your keyword (screen overlay)!. It is a problem called 'screen overlay' which is a common issue in marshmallow. These links gave me the solution.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0S1znycHFM
I am having this same problem since latest update, its really annoying i can hit deny but not allow! How do we fix this crap! My stock phone isnt working right whats up with that?
Other kinds of overlay can be the "chat bubbles" from Facebook Messenger or Flynx tabs.
---------- Post added at 04:11 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:43 AM ----------
Just checked the Google Nexus forum and they say that there's an app called "File Manager" from Cheetah Mobile that it's causing this issue. Check if this is what's happening to you too and remove that app.

For me it's Lux, which also uses overlays. I have to pause it every time for things like this.
I had the same problem yesterday. As far as I know, I don't use any app that can cause the "screen overlay" problem, anyway it seems that clearing cache and dalvik solved the problem for me, at least for now..
EDIT: never mind, problem reappeared. I had to switch off all the apps in the "draw on other apps" menu..
EDIT 2: found the culprit: gravity screen.
Mine is velis auto brightness i believe
In my case it was the File Manager extension. Go to settings -> search for "draw over other apps" -> disable it for File Manager.
Potentially it is any app the draws over app. Just go into app permissions and write down every non google app that asks for draw over other app permission. Then disable all of them to see if the problem goes away. Then reenable one by one until the problem comes back.
In MTC19Z they no longer have the Allow permission that can't be tapped. Instead they have a warning that it won't continue until you disable the app that is drawing over screen (but they don't tell you which app that is). It is slightly less confusing, but equally annoying to have to figure out which app that is, then to turn off the offending app each time, then re-enable it.
Facebook Messenger bubbles are overlay
I don't think it's overlay
If it was an overlay it would be over the whole screen, but I can actually press the "Deny" button.
Anyway I disabled Twilight, the only app I have with overlay - no results
BTW, if your Nexus rolled off of it's 18 months support - it's time to install a custom ROM before the planned obsolescence machine kicked in

What you describe is exactly the behavior with overlay after june update. I don't think it is the overlay per se, but a bug in the warning mechanism blocking your button.
In july update they changed to a promot that links you to the overlay permission page.
i am also having the same problem..using honor 8...can't click on allow permission..
Hi there.
I seem to have a problem to turn on permission on my Huawei Watch. When I try to use Google Fit Heart Rate monitor, watch ask me for permission for vital signs, I choose allow, then I get screen:
"Screen overlay dete...
To change this permission setting, you first have to turn off the screen overlay from Settings > Apps"
and
"Open settings" button, which doesn't work.
Has anyone got solution for this problem?
Thanks in advance.:good:

If you are using a mini launcher, that causes it. Uninstall the launcher.

Thanks, it was one of paid watch faces, I set to one preinstalled, turn on allowance and put the watch face back on. Everything now works as it should.
Thanks, your life saver! :good:
Yeah, I have the same problem myself, I install "Wear Mini Launcher" yesterday and now I get that error message appear when I try and use the Runway watch face.
I have "uninstalled" Wear Mini Launcher from my phone but I still have the watch face in my list of faces and no amount of "hide on app" gets rid of that error message!!!
How the f do I uninstall it fully??

I has the exact same problem and solved it by uninstalling Mini Launcher!

I've had the same problem. I just about gave up! Thanks for the solution. Have you found a good replacement launcher, or just stock?
you can install it again after allow few permissions what you need...
First, I uninstalled mini-launcher. This failed. Then I found the answer under the watches settings. Settings / Permissions / then give the programs access to your sensors or storage. Set the program that I wanted to have access, in this case, insta-weather to take my heart rate on the watch face; it worked. I then installed mini-launcher again (a great launcher program) and everything works fine. The permission settings are not on your phone they are on your watch.
9.1.3 seems to pretty flawless so far. But there is one issue. Most apps don't get lock-screen notifications. Does anybody else have this issue too?
You can test this with the open source app (no ads) Radiodroid2. It is not possible to get a lock-screen notification for that app, despite tweaking all kind of settings. But it works fine on Nokia, Motorola, Nexus, Pixel devices for example.
---
Just to make sure this is not a config issue ... I wiped my device and reinstalled everything:
- Reset to China beta 8.12.27
- Flashed TWRP
- Wiped data, dalvik, and cache
- Flashed eu 9.1.3
- Flashed Magisk
check advanced setting in lock screen settings for on lock screen setting and notification settings per app like screenshot.

Thank you. I actually had tried that, but it only works for some applications (the minority unfortunately).
Could you please try the app RadioDroid 2?

(It is an open source radio app without ads ....)
I should be able to pause music on the lockscreen (like on all the other phones before), but I am not able to figure it out.
I hope you can do it.
Youre right. You have to go to the app's notification settings, then disable and again enable "Show notifications"... Every Time when you start the app..
