Hello,
in display settings on Android Oreo there is an option to change display size and i allways have it on "small" but there is a problem with one app that seem not to adjust to this settings and it is impossible to use it because all buttons and text are deformed and they overlay on each other. The problem disappears when i change the display size to "default". So here comes my question: is there any way to keep overall display on small and somehow make it change automatically to default only for this app?

Hello I am now the (Proud?) owner of this phone because I have gone bill pay - moved from a Vodafone Smart Ultra 6, which i did like but the camera didnt have OIS and the camera lens was in such a silly place many a time I used to accidentally cover it with my finger when i wanted to take picture . Anyway very similar specs, same snapdragon chip, same 480dpi screen 5.1.1 on the SU6 (is it only 5.1.0 on the GX8 as standard or 5.1.1? - info in about/settings says 5.1
On my SU6 I liked that you could pull down the notification bar at the top of the screen and the writing was legible, but on this GX8 the writing is so tiny in the notification especially for the time the notification came in on the left hand side, how is anyone supposed to read that even with good eyesite - what are my options apart from root and app settings and change the dpi for systemui?
I know im getting on a bit and the ol eyesite must be failing but does anyone else have a problem with the font size? - I went into settings and chose 'huge' and 'extra huge' font size in display but it doesnt have any effect on the system fonts it seems.
Hello Valued Customer, you can adjust both the size of the font and the text on the device. To increase the size of the font, go to Settings>Font and select your desired font size. To change the actual text size, go to Settings>Accessibility>Captions and from there select your desired text size. If the issue still continues to persist, please contact our support team at 1-888-548-2934 for further assistance.
Hello. Сhanged the width of the screen, because the interface seemed too small. And then the incorrect display in the shutter in the form of an alarm icon. Can there is an option to change the dpi without artifacts?
I use stock rom 7.0
Hello All,
1) Just as the title reads, is there a way to reduce the font size further than the lowest option from Settings > Display > Font size ? I just want maybe a little bit more. (PS: I'm trying to get the same font size and consistency as my OP7 Pro)
2) Is there a way I can change the quick settings icons's to reflect Google stock icons or Oxygen OS icons ?
I think for 1) above, rooting might be a way as i've done this in the past with my HTC phones. I havent had to root my last few phones but on the Note10+ the font seems to be absurdly large and its bothering me. My OCD is not helping either.
Any suggestions on getting around this will be much appreciated !
I like small fonts, and status bar icons, I set the dpi to 549 in developer option

Amazing, thats all i ever needed ! You saved me from rooting
Yes the only way to reduce fonts is to change dpi... but what dpi number is another problem..!
If you use the samsung keyboard, yes, a problem arises, as the keyboard becomes smaller when you increase dpi, I use AI type keyboard, it is not affected by dpi settings, appart from this I have not found any other problem

I noticed that, but it's much better than dealing with abnormally large text and icons everywhere. I'll probably use swift keyboard or keep tuning the dpi until I find a sweet spot.
Is there any way to force apps in the notch area and not have black bar there I tried the full screen mode in settings and even some immersive mode apps and nothing helped.
Also is there a way to make status bar toggles and notifications smaller? I have set smallest display mode but that only affects menus
Thanks
Here's what I did on my P30 Pro to make notifications smaller. It works systemwide too.
Open Developer Options, scroll down to DRAWING section, at the bottom is a setting for Smallest width. Increase whatever the number is by an amount of, say, 10dp at a time until you get your desired size and appearance.
After experimenting with values I found that merely increasing from stock value of 423dp to 430dp made a big (smaller) difference.
I also have the text size set @ normal and display size set @ small.

No problem, I'm glad that's helped with part of your solution.
I much prefer smaller font and icons, to me it makes the UI look more polished.
Just recently updated to stock A13 OOS (unlocked BL and rooted, LE 2125), and am wondering what the best way to change the display density system wide? The default settings are not quite small enough for my taste. Additionally, changing the smallest width setting within Developer Settings causes some undesirable outcomes; space below keyboard/home screen, weird Google Now spacing.
Also, when changing the smallest width developer setting, some elements of the system don't seem to respect that setting including lock screen date and clock, stock launcher, etc. I would prefer not to flash any custom roms as most I've tried have too many bugs.
I was wondering if there's any ADB command, magisk module, or anything I could do to make the display density smaller?
Have you played with Settings Font and Display size....

Yes, display size is set to small, and so is font size
If it still comes out too big, i think you might have the same problem as I did. I had to factory reset after a fresh F16 install. No problems since.
You want this command:
adb shell wm density 560
Change the number until you find a density you like.
