I can't flash nougat ruu when ever i try it gives error 132 i have tried two ruu but both gave the same error. When first i was trying it was on viper rom i thought i would be able to flash on stock so i tried to flash stock 3.35.617.12 ruu which flashed okay without any errors but now when i am again trying nougat ruu its giving the same error. What should I do to flash nougat.

I was trying to update marshmallow to nougat firmware using ruu exe but wasn't able to do because of the error 132 but after updating the stock marshmallow to nougat using OTA update i tried the same ruu exe to flash nougat to check if i had the corrupted or other version of ruu and it flashed okay without any errors.
I think on htc m9 you can't update to nougat from 6.0 using ruu exe.

That's correct. The encryption keys changed between firmware 3.x and 4.x (just like they did between 1.x* and 2.x). OTAs (in contrast to RUUs) aren't encrypted. That's why you could update by flashing the OTA.
* 1.x wasn't encrypted at all, though

First, you can't use 4.16.401.10 when your device is S-On.
Second, you need the stock recovery installed then only OTA can proceed.
What's your software version no. now ? Is it 3.28.709.6 ? Are you doing lollipop OTA ?
All the files needed are here if the above version no. is correct.

Just to share some usefull information :
As been explained he can't use that firmware on a s-on device.
A firmware comes with different software numbers which are linked to different cids. If his cid is not supported by the firmware he simply can't flash it. Unless he gets s-off and change the cid. Therefore he needs the matching firmware, he could flash that firmware 10 times and it would still fail.
Hi guys, i am running the latest marshmallow on my htc m8 dev edition. i tried to install 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 RUU and both gave me the same error, error 159. how can i solve this?
I downgraded from lollipop multiple times using the same RUU but now is not working.
Are you s-off?

Yes, s-off, unlocked, supercid. did the same procedure many times already. Downloaded the ruu twice to see if wasn't a corrupted file and no luck.
Maybe marshmallow changed something?
I already was in marshmallow in gpe and reverted to sense lollipop to receive the OTA to marshmallow in sense version, ruu worked fine too.
Find an older hboot and get that installed. Should be able to downgrade after that is installed. That's what I figured out a while back.

I did a bigger route than this just to be sure, but worked.
Converted to GPE, and reverted the way i always did but this time using the 4.4.3 ruu. it worked fine.

That's what I was going to suggest, old firmware, than the old RUU.
The MM DevEd RUU has been finicky for some. Some folks have had to run the MM firmware before the RUU will work. So it wouldn't surprise me if similar was required to downgrade.
After restoring my HTC one M8 H/K to 4.4.4 (S-off) my battery still bad , so I am going to replace a new battery to see if does fixes the prob.
Before I am going to try replace a new battery I was trying to update my phone to marshmallow and RUU giving me an error 155 , it sayes that the rom is not compatible but its the offical rom. so can anybody help me on this update Prob.

ROM.zip is same as RUU zip. You need firmware.zip from inside ROM.zip. This is just a small zip that contains hboot, radio, recovery, kernel, and several other partitions, but does not contain the ROM/OS.
You can also get the firmware and RUU zips from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2729173
If its the Sprint H/K version you have, the firmware number should be 6.20.654.3
Directions on flashing the firmware are on the linked thread.
OK so I know I'm late to upgrading to marshmallow but i haven't gotten it to work on my htc one m9. may carrier is AT&T. Before the marshmallow update was released, I rooted and installed viper one on my m9 in hopes of recieving the update quicker. When Marshmallow was released, I was able to flash new marshmallow roms successfully, but my phone would never boot into the rom. It would always send me back to the bootloader. I realized that I would need a firmware update in order to run marhsmallow successfully, but I am having trouble updating the firmware. Since i rooted my phone and have a custom recovery and custom rom, I am no longer receiving OTA updates from htc. How will I be able to update the firmware manually. Also my phone is S-On, if that makes a difference.
Thanks for the help.
Why not upgrade using an RUU. AT & T is available from HTC's site.

Please read the readme thread that is pinned above the normal threads in this section. This way you'll learn how to find the correct RUU for your phone and how to flash it.

Ok so i found the correct RUU file. sku 502 firmware 2.11.502.18. thats what it says on my phone in download mode. once i flash this ruu I will have the stock htc rom and be able to recieve ota upgrades for marshmallow, correct?
Correct. Alternatively you could extract the RUU.zip from the latest 502 M9 RUU.exe which can be found on HTC's website and flash it with the instructions in the readme thread. A guide for the extraction is linked in the RUU section of the readme thread, as well. This was you wouldn't need to install the OTAs.

Which RUU? The 2.x one or the one from HTC's website? What is your current firmware version?

Since my carrier is att, I believe all the updates come through that. I clicked the art update button and it says I'm up to date
That is more than odd. You should be able to receive and install the missing OTAs if you manually search for them.
Can you please download the latest 502 RUU from HTC's website, extract the *.zip file with the instructions that are linked in the readme thread and flash the *.zip as you did with the 2.x one?
I just got an M9 dev edition (OPJA110) off Amazon, and it is on Android 5.0.2
Running the OTA updates gives the Status 7 error which I found means the partition was modified by a previous owner.
I do not have a 32GB microSD, so is there any way to get it back to stock without one so I can go through the process of updating to Nougat? I looked for a link for an RUU I could run through my computer to reflash it, but couldn't find one.
Thanks for any and all help!

The RUU for the Dev Edition should be available here. It's a 2GB file and includes the entire RUU for the M9.

I downloaded and tried that, but it won't work due to "signature error" which I read is caused by encryption keys changing between firmware versions.

You have android 5.0.2 right? You can't jump directly to the latest os version, you need to get the ruu for 5.1 then 6 and then you should use the OTA update to get 7.0

I ended up finding the RUU for 6.0 and getting it to install, and now I've been OTA updating all last night and this morning to get up to date. Thank you.
I have 3 more to go I think.
