[Q&A] Fingerprint unlock - Xiaomi Mi 6 Questions & Answers

I'm on aospa 7.3.1 with the right firmware. When I unlock phone with the fingerprint, lockscreen is shown for a moment. It's really annoying. Is there a workaround or a fix?

Face Unlock is improved in JB

Face Unlock is improved in the JB ROM. It has a "Liveness check" you must blink at the phone to unlock
Does anyone really use face unlock? lol It seems like such a useless feature, unless you are really that paranoid about keeping your device secure.

I think you have that backwards.
If you are paranoid, you wouldn't be using it.

It also appears to be tweakable.

I use it because it's faster than swiping a pattern or punching in a pin. I just look at the phone, then it unlocks
Does it use the light meter yet to skip directly to the secondary unlock method in the dark?

if it's dark it says it can't see then prompts you for pin#.

Face Unlock much slower after today's update =(

After updating to 43 OTA 004, Faceunlock is no longer instant. now you see first the lockscreen flash and then UI slide in. I went back to 43 OTA 003, but same situation.
before it was just press powerbutton/doubletap screen and the screen turned on showing instantly UI whereever you left off. just like all the reviewers showed it. I dont have file to go back to inital firmware 001 .... :/
VERY DISAPPOINTING, it really breaks the "instant" feeling. hope they fix it soon.
meanwhile, no speed increase in fingerprint reader. still slightly slower than OP3.
UPDATE: solved - it is Nova Launcher with a custom wallpaper that caused this -> back to Oneplus launcher, set new wallpaper = FaceUnlock instant again!
Not a terrible trade-off for more security.
FP sensor still fast af.

ewww i hope not, then there is no difference than what was on the OP3/T smart lock, i liked the option that u didn't have to swipe up, i will prob return mine if this is the case.

sooo, not security focused then. also doesnt explain why it now shows the lockscreen, instead of unlocking straight to UI... like with fingerprint

thanks, ok then i did something to cause it... hm too bad
Here on 4.7.2 its also slow.
I had the same problem and factory reset: face unlock is back to being instant, and the finger print reader is noticeably faster. It is troublesome, however, that an OTA forced me to factory reset a 3 day old phone...
I have also reset after update but not solved.
I updated homescreen and lockscreen wallpaper with a custom one and experienced a slight drop on face unlock speed. Meaning that I was able to see the lockscreen for 1/10 of a second before the homescreen was there. I reverted the wallpaper choosing one of oneplus 's and face unlock speed was back to instant. Just a tip.
Works fine for me. I'm on FreedomOS based on Oxygen 4.7.2.

Swipe up to answer calls???

The op5t is my first OnePlus device. I am used to swipe UP to answer calls instinctively. I've already dismissed a few calls as its inversed in OP5t. Any solutions??
I kinda got used to it but I did also rejected my first 4-5 calls ?
Me too ,?
It's a feature.
Dismiss call.
Play with the device some more, uninterrupted :good:
I haven't received a call yet, what am I looking for? Swipe right to answer?

Swipe up to answer.
You will get custom to it. Actually I think swipe down is more like 'receive', swipe up is more like 'throw away'.
Lol.
Swipe right to like, swipe left to dislike. Op will need to implement this feature with automated text message: your call is liked or disliked. Tinder stuff ?
Same here. Any way for swipe right to answer?

Rom with always on display?

Does anyone know of a rom that has always on display? I was going to go with codename phoenix but it has been discontinued and I don't know of another one.
Omni has it. Codename Phoenix is still being built, just no dedicated support. It's rock solid loaded with features.
Also, there is a substratum theme that supports it as well.

I believe it works in all the 8.1 Roms as long as you flash the OOS Oreo firmware.
As mentioned apparently you can enable this feature on the 8.1 only.
I use Always on Amoled from the store or glance plus. They both work well.

Yeah glance plus I use for me is the best solution i found but still some issues with glance but not big deal the final experience is pretty good
The Always on Display in OmniRom is flawless.

hmmm lol. all good you're ok with it. for me I feel it's a joke I would never support it or pay for it as it defeats the end purpose. getting half the app here, not for me lol...

You are alright im not developer but probably don't have the same functionality as ambient display backed in a rom. Probably if you give all the permission and accessibility probably work as we want but i don't want to give every permission to the app im. Waiting for a good rom baked but for now it's ok

EMUI8 Themes bug

I've been experiencing this annoying bug where the brightness slider would stay blue on custom themes after rebooting, does anybody have a fix for this? (see attached screens)
I think that can't be changed, even on older phones with theme apps like gravitybox, I could never change the color of the slider lol.
The title of this thread is misleading lol. The slider can't be changed, it;s not a problem with your device, do not worry. lol

I think it's because Emui8 is still in beta so it might just be a little rough around the edges still
