I was wondering if there is a way to disable the vibration haptic feedback when i touch the finger print scanner to unlock my phone, i noticed that when am on a "don't disturb mode" it stops working (vibration feedback in general), so maybe a solution? Am rooted so open to most options if any..
Try this app, vibrafix:

First, thank you for the response, at least you made the effort in trying to find a solution.. Appreciate it.
Honestly, i world prefer to not try any app that have not been updated since 3 years or more, specially if am going to give it a root access.. Kind of a very high risk.. Don't you agree..??

I used it untill last year and didn't had any issues. We can't be so paranoid all the time. You could try to search some alternatives in playstore if you're not willing to try this one.

I'm rooted and trying out this app, but can't seem to figure out the exact settings to leave everything else the same but only remove the unlock vibration. Care to share some tips?

Sorry I'm not rooted anymore but if you can post a screenshot of the app I could try to remember the settings of the app I had used.

How would anyone figure that out on their own??
Oh yeah forgot about beginner mode. I found it by just playing around. I've been using tasker for like three weeks.

No idea how one would find it. I've been using tasker in beginner mode for over a year and didn't know the difference. I only found out about it about a week ago when searching for something else. I haven't yet had a use for it, but at least I know how :highfive: .
When using certain music apps (poweramp, stock sound player..) the vibration on the phone freaks out and just buzzes and pulses. I can't figure out what is causing it.
Please tell us some more information about the phone so we can help you.
For example, what ROM or Samsung touchwiz software are you on? Are you rooted?

I would try uninstalling all those music apps and then do some detective work and install each app one by one to see which app it is. Report back what you find out.

A shot in the dark here,,,,but go to /settings/sound/
Scroll to the bottom and disable "Auto Haptic" if it is enabled.

Right on right on.
Also.... it's not so obvious...but long pressing on that menu item/switch brings up a blacklist/whitelist to choose which apps will be affected by auto-haptic though I don't use it myself.
Does anyone know of an app that will say the time out loud when you press the power button to turn wake the device???
e.g. so when your in the lockscreen mode.
You could probably get tasker to do it. Good luck though.

you can try svoice by saying hi galaxy and ask it what time in your location

I'm sure you can do this with driving mode on (which I previously had set up on 4.1) however I checked again and I can't find the option to read out the time.
Hey, guys
Thanks for your idea, I will try to implement it in my named Cover Algorithm.

Thanks for the replies...
Still no luck though..
I've had a look at Tasker but unless people could be kind and guide me through how to achieve this, i am fairly certain it won't allow me to..
I have however found an app that speaks out loud the time pretty quickly and clearly (Say Time), but automating it to say it when i wake my device (if on loud) is proving more difficult than first anticipated :crying:
Don't worry mate.
I will surely add it in my app in upcoming days.

Hi,
Thanks... I did see your comment "I will try to implement it in my named Cover Algorithm" but i had no idea what you meant..
What app is this???
Please ignore my previous comment.... I have just checked out your apps on the playstore... makes sense now..haha
When do you think you could implement this idea?
Also, would it be possible for this to say the time out loud ONLY IF device is NOT on silent?
Thank you

Thanks for trying out my app.
It will just some time to implement because I am currently working on help & paid version of Cover Algorithm.
Yep, it will be possible to say time when device awakes only if device not in Silent.
Please consider rating the app if you like

I recently upgraded to the LG Optimus G Pro and I love it and all, but while I'm at work when I get messages, my phone does all sorts of crazy things in my pocket because the screen comes on. I was wondering if there was a setting that I was looking over that would stop it from doing that? I'm trying not to root it because I know the bare minimum about rooting phones, but I did root my Galaxy s2 Skyrocket with youtube tutorials.

What things is it doing? I have the flip case and that keeps it from coming on and such. I think there is a pocket mode in the setting(I could be wrong about this though) check in display section or even under notifications.

Or go into the offending app that's causing you trouble and turn notifications off.

I think there are a few others who have complained about this as well. I don't have a texting plan (I use Google Voice), so I haven't ever experienced this. However, if there aren't any options in the phone settings, there may be another way.
I seem to be on this Tasker kick lately, so when someone has a problem that is related to the phone sensors or events, I tend to think "how can I fix this with Tasker?!" . As a result, I have made an app really quick using Tasker and have even included the project XML if you want to fiddle with it on your own. It does NOT require root. However, it will need you to install another free app called "Secure Settings" and give it administrator rights in your phone settings. All that the app does is wait for an incoming message and checks to see if the proximity sensor detects something in front of it. If it does, it turns the screen off. However, like I said, I don't have a texting plan, so I haven't had a chance to really test it. The app interface is just an "ON/OFF" button and a "Close" button. If it doesn't work, just turn it off or uninstall it. It is set to "OFF" when it is first installed.
Alternatively, you can play around with it if you get Tasker. I think there is still a trial period you can get if you aren't sure if you want to buy it. Let me know if it works or if you have any other questions.
I named the xml file as a .zip just to upload to xda. Just rename the file without the ".zip" at the end and then you can edit and/or import to Tasker.

This is easily fixed, just change the lockscreen to anything other than swipe and the phone will no longer accidentally become unlocked in your pocket

Okay I just realised that there is an emergency call button on the screen when you have either pin, password or pattern unlock set. If you just have swipe, there is no emergency call button. Maybe this will help?

Sooo my g pro comes this saturday and i was wondering if there were any tips or tricks you guys had?
While the phone is lying on a table or on bed, if you try pulling down the status bar, using just one finger without touching the sides of the phone, it just won't pull down, it would like block the touch for that even though it'd register touches for usual taps and swipes.
Even stranger behavior is while it won't be pulling down while it's lying on the table and the sides of the phone are not being touched, if you even slightly touch the side of the phone and then swipe down status bar, it'd work perfectly. That's one of the strangest things I've seen in a phone.
There's no issues while holding and using the phone btw.
Please answer back if you're facing the same issue or try replicating what I said with your device and report the behavior below, would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.
Can you make a video? If I understand your post right, it works fine on my device.
Not able to make a video atm as no other device is with me. Would love for other people to reply as well as I'm pretty sure it can't be my particular device's defect.
I've found people reporting very similar things for surface pro on this thread here if you wanna understand what I'm saying better

Try turn off gestures?
Setting > System > Gestures > Swipe fingerprint for notifications.
I have not seen this, but you can set the fingerprint reader as a tiny touchpad which can be used to bring down the status bar.
