If Oreo is to be, it's gonna be late - Galaxy S6 Edge+ General

Hello friends and family!
As I stated at one of my first posts if Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus should get official update from Samsung to Android 8 Oreo it will not be soon.
Based on what's been happening so far and back last year I'll say we'll get it in June 2018.

No hurry to update.
Especially if it means turining touchwizz into Samsung Experience.
During official Oreo update.

I must say Oreo did not improve my battery life. It dies slightly faster if anything. And my phone never got hot before oero. Warm yes, but not hot like my s7.

Android 7 is ok. Oreo has some improvements I really prefer however. While I can get split screen on nougat too, Oreo has a screen in a screen so I can watch YouTube and put it into a smaller box and keep the rest of my screen for my game or browsing , the UI is also a bit better looking and the system is faster overall. No real lag or wait for things to open and run. But like any new OS the first few versions are plagued by bugs. I was fortunate enough to be able to fix all of mine and it's running smooth. Except NFC. But really.... Its NFC. I don't use it. Kernel auditor and background restrictor improved the battery. The heat issue I've not defeated yet. Its obvious its pushing the Gpu harder then necessary, it's currently only happening when a game runs. Maybe if I slow the max core speed and or take 2 of the 8 offline it will correct it

yep, same here, no use for NFC (yet).
This split screen, is it something like KNOX to divide pro and priv stuff or just like 2 Tabs in a web browser?
This "split screen" is a bit unfortunate name now cause Xiaomi (dual apps and something else I forgot the name) uses something like that to do what KNOX does.

It's a screen in a screen. Like watching youtube in the corner while playing a game or surfing the web. Or splitting the screen Into two equal halves to do two different tasks at once

[Q] Note 10.0 2014 Visible Digitizer Matrix

Hello everyone. I have been reading forums on this website for a long time and I must say there is tons of useful information over here. So thought I should become a member too.
Recently I Bought Note 10.1 2014 Edition LTE version. I was expecting it to be much better that its really is. The display is nice but there is lag on this Tablet. It stutters during web browsing. I have a note 3 also which is much smoother although it has 1.9 Ghz Exynos processor as compared to 2.3 Ghz on this tablet. Anyways I have read on net that may be its because it has double the amount of pixels on display as compared to note 3 therefore it has some amount of lag.
Ok my main question to you guys who already own this tablet. In reflection of light I can see the Digitizer Matrix all along the display. its a bit annoying looks like faint sctraches on the screen. I have used many android devices but never experienced anything like it before. while looking as it directly with no light reflection it is not visible at all but even in faintest light reflection is starts to become visible even with the display on
So is it normal or a defect?
Help would be highly appreciated.

Have you used a device with an inductive display before? It puts out an electromagnetic signal which detects the presence of the pen. That's why the display looks different. I've been using mine since November and have never noticed the grid in everyday use. As for lag it pretty much went away with the 4.4 update. If you're already on 4.4 and the display grid is going to bother you return the device while you still can.

The visible matrix does not bother me too much when in use. The display is still beautiful.
I am still on 4.3 coz 4.4 is not available in my region yet. Lets hope once the update is made available in my region, lag will reduce.
The gaming performance however, is better than on note 3.

4.4 is rolling out painfully slow. What region are you in and what model number N10.1-14 do you have? Chances are you can safely download and install a compatible region's ROM without changing the status of your device or tripping KNOX.

You can download the HK 4.4 ROM here.
http://samsung-updates.com/details/30043/Galaxy_Note_10.1_2014_LTE/SM-P605/TGY/P605ZSUCNF1.html
Many people on the forum are using ROMs from other (but compatible) regions because 4.4 hasn't been rolled out to their specific region yet. I'm using a Panamanian ROM on a SM-P601 from Trinidad. They work fine. There can be some oddity (I still have lock screen widgets which I shouldn't and don't have Daynote when I should) but everything else works as designed.
If you've never installed a non-standard ROM on your device do a Google search on "Odin." It'll link you to s/w you need to download and provide you with instructions. I can answer any questions you might have. There's little risk and it doesn't affect your device's status (it stays "official") or KNOX. For me, 4.4 was like getting a new tablet.
Yes I am sure 4.4 solves many issues. I will try the above instructions today. thanks a lot and best regards.

Hi due to political instability in my country, my office is off nowadays and I finally got some time to update my software.
I installed P605XXUCNF2 version which is from NEE region. At first I was not sure but then the lag and stutter in my tablet forced me to go for it.

Like you said Barry its literally like having a new tablet. The lag is gone and overall it has become really smooth.
Thank you for your advice without which I would never have found the solution.

i just thought i'd pitch in, theres a setting in chrome you can change to eliminate that lag - it just doesnt allocate enough ram for the resolution its rendered at by default.
Wow another thread about lag..I have had this tab since Dec 2013 ..Never had lag, no issues ever... I have a life, so I don't sit and stare at the tablet all day and pick at it. It's Android . And Sammy it will have some issues...There are quick easy fixes for the mysterious lag people are complaining about. This is the best tab out for this year..The Tab S is the same tab minus the pen..it only has a better screen ..but that could be debated as well.

The amoled display will considerably increase battery life and will have better contrast. Its a huge improvement.
Other specs of tab s is same as note 10.1 as far as I know.

What should I know before buying this device?

Hi all, I do not really care about 4G.
This might be my next phone so I'd like what is intersting to know when you use the phone.
I already know about the not so good camera, the noise when recording and the youtube sound bug. Have the owners on reddit something else to prevent me about?
I am also considering Huawei Nova (not plus) and Redmi Note 4x. If someone have tested many of those 3 devices and can give me advice.
Thanks in advance

Hi, the sound sync bug is barely noticeable on my unit, the delay is minimal, I have the UK version with S056 stock rom out of the box. The 4/64 version of Redmi Note 4X is still not available and the Nova is only 5" with significantly smaller battery and also only 3gb ram. I have the 4/32 version of P2a42 and I can't be more happy with the device. The build quality is superb, the display is gorgeous, the rom is 99% stock Android 6.0.1, the cpu is super snappy, only the high end games like NFS No Limits, Modern Combat 5 and GTA are not running smooth on full details. And here comes the battery, the battery life is amazing. Right now I'm on 54%, this is my 3rd day on a single charge and I already have 6h25m screen on time with 2h of heavy online gaming with games like NFS No limits, 5v5 moba games like Mobile Legends, Heroes Evolved and so on. The math shows that I'll end up with more than 12h SOT and using the phone without charging for a full 4 days, if no gaming and only 2-3 usage 14-15h SOT are not a problem for this phone.
I highly recommend it and currently for me Lenovo P2 is the best balanced phone between performance, battery, build quality and reliability under $300.

Same story every year for the Hong Kong variant! The same thing happened to my SM-G9650 with Android Pie.
Patience young one, it will come and you'll probably get a better initial experience than everyone else.
I'm not too bummed yet because I hear Good Lock hasn't been updated for 10 which would stop me from updating anyway. But once that happens...

number one for sure would be the gesture navigation - it is absolutely the best, the samsung one is just rubbish. ALso music controller and scribbling through the playing audio directly from the notification shade although im not sure if thats a oneplus feature or android 10. Im sure there will be a lot of other things il miss that i dont know yet!

I'd say the average Note10+ buyer is probably fairly interested in the version of Android it's running, yes. They are someone that is probably expecting one of the best Android experiences possible, especially when you consider the cost of the handsets.

Yes all I have to do is apply the update. I use this phone mostly for gaming and a few months ago someone posted that the dualshock 4 pairing would be fixed with Android 10 I just want a conformation on that b4 I start downloading. I'm still on release firmware in hopes for root but if I can use my ps4 controller I would gladly update

Can the Note 10+ Hong Kong get flashed with stock Android 10 ROM from another region and get it done that way? And what about root? Can it be rooted afterwards again under Android 10 or not?
The truth of the matter is I see zero benefits on an upgrade. Android 9 works flawlessly on my rooted 10 Plus and there isn't anything on Android 10 that I already can't do with my Android 9 firmware. I never quite understand this "upgrade" rush everyone seems to have..
Heck.. I'm still on Android 8 on my Note 8 and everything works flawlessly with all my apps and setting such as on my newer Note 10+. THE ONLY thing about my Note 8 that needs an "upgrade" is the p...e-of-s..t AMOLED display that is burnt in everywhere.. and no firmware will fix that.
Gosh I miss LCDs.. Samsung AMOLED panels ALL last less than a couple months before they start burning in.. all of them.

Looking to buy the A3 in 2021. Thoughts?

Hey there
A bit late to the party here. I am looking to get a A3 to replace my current phone. I have a POCO M2 PRO as my current phone, however i am VERY dissatisfied with it. Look into the A3 cuz its the only small phone i was able to find. Lemma know if this is a good idea. Oh and if you know about any small/compact/comfortable phone that doesn't break the bank, let me know in the comments.
peace✌
If you are going to flash a rom on it right away then go ahead, using this phone stock is like alpha testing.

I also bought this phone in 2021 based on the very same reasons as yours. This is the only phone I could find with decent dev support (easy to unlock, root, custom roms to choose etc.), size (I was using an Xperia X Compact, so size is still an issue for me but there wasn't any smaller with comparable features.) and specs. I unlocked and flashed los with microg even before putting my sim card. (And the sad story is this is the second one I bought bucause I lost the first one second day )
Using stock since fall 2019, works great until today, would buy again.
Go with another one.
In my experience, a11 stock is very good. 2 days without full charge and 8-9 hours of SOT. Smooth and fast. The secret is optmize the app configuration. Remove useless app. But first... Don't use official Facebook app. Obviously it's my opinion and my experience. But i'm quite sure that the user with bad experience. Are user with bad use of your device. And my phone stats can confirm what i say

In my opinion, if I had to change my Mi A3 now, I'd go with a Motorola Moto G 5G Plus, which has more or less the same A3 stuff, with a better display, 5g, better battery but it's also slightly bigger and heavier.
The only thing I don't know is about the software, on the xda page there are very few threads and nobody's talking about major problems with software, I might give it a try if I get sick with Xiaomeme software updates

That motorola has an IPS screen with SD765, so not really comparable
But I think this 720p AMOLED screen is crappy (EVEN if it makes this phone faster), but you cannot find a decent 1080p at the smallish 70-72mm width that's not costing an arm and a leg (Sony Xperia 5).
Wait 7 days for the new Poco.
I think that mi a3 is one of the best mid range phone... So i will change it... Only for an high range phone... Probably a pixel... Or a top xiaomi... Also oppo seems very good phones...

How were you able to get good battery life on stock Android 11? Please help me. The battery life sucks on Android 11 on this phone.
Sometimes the ota updates are not successful. So an hard reset can solve much problems. I don't use fingerprint and always on display because drain a lot of battery... I think it is, especially if you're into custom ROMs and rooting and so forth, as the 10 Pro scene hasn't gotten to that point as of this writing; there's lots of fretting and hand-wringing in the 10 Pro forum about it. I picked up a refurbished one last month from Amazon and am tickled pink with it (I'm keeping my trusty 7 Pro as a backup). In fact, the first thing I did was load my custom-built LineageOS fork (which I had already built in anticipation) onto it, as there was no way I was going to stay on OxygenOS beyond using it to OEM unlock the phone.
Hey guys,
Just received a used 9 Pro LE2123 and I got it without any battery juice.
I am using the warp charger that is from this model and I noticed that the charging is super slow.
It came with Android C61 and I let it update to C62, if this plays any role.
Any ideas about what is happening?

Why to do this?
The device was factory resetted when I got it.
Because you've literally no idea what the last user had flashed to it, or had messed around with.

Making Custom ROMs isn't my issue. The problem with 10 pro for me is not be able recover if got hardbricked (which I will do eventually) . We don't have any official stores in our country. And online services isn't really my thing. 10 Pro is 10$+ then 9 pro here. Still want to buy 9 pro over 10 pro cz of MSM mostly.

I guess after unlocking the bootloader and the full erase of data it should be fine.
op9pro could be a good phone for people living on social-media (nowadays the street-price is half of official price)
if you are flashotic or privacy-caring it's better thinking a bifferent device
Had mine for around 15 months, LE2123 it took a major hit when it went from a11 to a12. I'm completely stock and not modified in anyway. Overall I have been happy with the phone, I know it was expensive near launch but it's managed well so far. I've blocked all advertising by putting all my traffic through pihole and it's been good. Played a few games on boost mode and it's incredibly slick. I've seen in the latest version c62 you can use storage as ram also. Really love the camera, it has t's fault but most settings can be disabled ( like AI etc) and I am tempted to move to gcam.

Current device is still OnePlus 9Pro 8gb. LE2123 c62. (UK)
Finally rooted and cloned all my 146 apps from my previous OP6 phone and everything runs flawlessly.
Battery is great, the phone is super fast and it has a very good and fast camera.
My only concern is that some notifications are not coming up on time, so some apps need further check to fix this issue.

Don't use Gmail app. I personally use Sugar mail and never missed any emails.
The 9 Pro continues to hold its own! Actually it's still pretty popular!
Personally in the US its one of the few options left available for those who like to really customize their devices. With spectacular battery life on customs (I've had mine about a month and get 8h SOT with some light gaming casually). I mean it doesn't get much better than this! Sure during heavy tasks it can get a little hot but that is slightly improving with OOS12 firmware. It will still reach those peak temps but seemingly not as fast. I got mine from Amazon as well for about $750 USD quite the deal! Using this device has be quite the pleasure. I'm definitely happy on Crdroid with BluSpark kernel. And since OOS has dropped the ball it means that OOS12 based custom roms will get nice custom kernel support which isn't normally there for a long time. Looking forward to the future of this phone!
No, stick with a phone that has good stock firmware. Oos is buggy af and is getting more and more like chinese bloat.
I would suggest a pixel over it (maybe 7?)

Except that Pixel phones have a lot of problems of their own, including the firmware, and there's no reason to believe that the 7 series will be any different given Google's recent track record. Pixel vs 9 Pro is just one set of issues versus another at this point. But, if one wants to delve into custom ROMs, both are good in that department (disclaimer: I don't follow the custom ROM scene for Pixel phones so I'm not as familiar with it as I am the OnePlus line).

Pixels have lacking support compared to what it used to be with the Nexus line up. There is some interest but it's mostly unofficial support that doesn't last for long and its nothing that you can rely on like with the OnePlus phones

The biggest problem that puts people off the Pixels right now is the Samsung SoC and modem. Stupid decision on Google's part.
