Has anybody upgraded yet to Oreo and tried to see if desktop mode worked
You see any oreo build yet? Me not.
It won't get it due to the type of the USB port
No word on Oreo, I hope Huawei doesn't renege on updating more phones to Oreo. They originally said the Honor 8 would be updated then reneged, claiming a hardware compatibility issue even though it shares the same processor of other phones that remain on the Oreo update list.

Bro, you won't be able to rollback to nougat until the official version is rolled out to the users. My device is C675 and I installed the Beta version as well but I couldn't get back to Nougat in spite of trying like 1000 times and spending almost 3 days on Google and XDA. I tried almost all the methods available there. Not to disappoint you but I'm waiting for the official Oreo version to be rolled out so that I can flash the same and do have a complete working device.
Cheers!!!

thanks for the answer!
Hurmmm just curious is oreo beta for honor any good? Any bugs or not working things? Why u guys want to rollback to nougat? Whats the obvious improvement? My wife owns Mate 9, the official oreo update was good and faster than nougat, but sadly there is no Huawei Histen (equalizer and bass settings for audio) in it which mate 10 series has.
Sent from my Honor 8 Pro using XDA Labs
Is honor 7x is a compatable device for Android p. Can we expect android p update ..coz honor is bad at providing latest updates
wont be an official update thats for sure. pretty much all devices other than google devices only receive 1 major update( ICS->JB->KK ...etc) with treble support though there a good chance we will get roms.
Just saw this on SamMobile. Anyone else heard anything about 8.1
Nothing on my end.
That's for the Galaxy Note 9 (N960), which runs on 8.1 instead of 8.0 like the S9 (G960). Officially the S9 will likely not be updated to 8.1, but will get a 9.0 update whenever Samsung releases that.
My bad... Can't believe I typed that in wrong. Had the note 8 before the S9. Thanks for the response
Samsung doesn't really apply the full security patch all in one go. They usually apply the security updates in 8.1 to 8.0. So basically it will be the same as 8.1, whenever Samsung actually get around to releasing any sort of update
I saw multiple commentaries that this phone runs better on Oreo than 9 or 10.
Even in audiophile forums they say that quad-dac drivers are made for android 8 only.
I never tried Oreo because i just flashed android 10 since the time i bought the phone.
Would you recomend to change to Oreo?
I can't get my Mate 20X to upgrade to EMUI 11 - I tried downloading:
Build: EVR-LGRP2-OVS 11.0.0.155 - update with full base
from this site: http://huawei-update.com/device-list/evr-l29
I tried all three variants of this build since they weren't labelled for which variant of the phone (mine's the C636 variant). When I tried to apply the update via the memory card all three times I got "No file found" even though UPDATE.APP file was in the root of the memory card where it should be.
I also installed a VPN, set region to UK in the Huawei Support app and in the VPN software and then tried the update OTA and nothing. Set region to China for both and still nothing.
Of course, the reason I'm doing this is to get EMUI 11 with the July 2021 security patches. My build is over a year out of date. I'd even consider going from EMUI 11 to Harmony OS but again I can't get off the July 2020 build currently installed.
I've tried going with other, newer Android phones, many of them the very best available. I've gone through:
- Samsung Galaxy Note 20
- Samsung Galaxy Ultra S21
- Oppo Find X3 Pro
- Xiaomi Black Shark 3 Pro
- Lenovo Legend
- LG V60 dual-screen
Despite liking some of these NONE of them give you the screen real estate that the Mate 20X does so I wind up dusting it off, updating all the apps and using it once again!
Can someone please help me figure out how to update the software on this beast??
Thanks, in advance for any and all comments!!
I am stuck with the issue. I am trying Ministry of Solutions, guy to help me out. He changed my Chinese one to global one.

Black Shark 3 does have the same screen real estate, with higher resolution and the 90 Hertz refresh rate, but it's SO HEAVY.
EMUI 11:
I also have the mate 20x and I've tried everything to update this. I changed the regions and I used the VPN and I tried rolling back to Android 9 via hi suite..... nothing. Someone recommended I spend 15 bucks on a Chinese SIM card from Amazon and that's exactly what I intend to do tomorrow.
Please let me know if you're able to update your phone! I just replaced the battery with a brand new one and spent way too much money on the Huawei branded storage media... I tried a bunch of different phones but I really want to keep this one!
I find it amazing but even phones with side-mounted fingerprint readers don't allow you to do the swipe option for notifications the way Huawei lets you do it. I like my infrared blaster, too. Sigh.
