HTC One M8s TWRP Install Issue. - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello there I'm trying to flash my M8 to the LineageOS.
However when I try to boot into recovery with TWRP my phone just hangs on the HTC logo.
The bootloader is unlocked and the phone is currently on the stock OS.
I've flashed TWRP via ADB and the OneM8AllInOneKit, but still get the same issue.
My phones information is below if it helps anyone out.
Thanks for any help.

OneM8AllInOneKit won't work on your device. Anything made for M8 like twrp, LineageOS won't work on your M8s
Check here for anything that you need - https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/one-m8s-general

Use htc_fastboot, not fastboot when flash. There is twrp for m8s, look at the threads.

I've tried the htc_fastboot and got the right twrp for masrhmellow and the cwmod one also and it still hangs on boot to recovey any ideas?

There is no clockworkmod recovery for the M8s, that I know of (only for the M8, which is a different phone - different recoveries). So this leads me to believe you are still not flashing the right recoveries for the M8s; including the TWRP specifically for the M8s.

Try install stock rom and start all over again. You can find it here at xda. Can send you links later. Sitting on phone now.

Here is the link to stock rom.

And the twrp,

Wrong version number, it doesn't match the OP's version. It will fail by version check.
He was able to get the phone working on Lineage, based on his other thread here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/one-m8s-general/htc-one-m8s-flash-boot-issues-t3736680
I'm guessing he had wrong version TWRP (not the one for M8s) and/or wrong LineageOS.

[Q] Something Wrong with Custom ROM installation

I unlocked my bootloader and rooted my HTC One X. I have used the ClockworkMod recovery.
I had CyanogenMod 10.2 installed and it ran perfectly fine.
Later on, I downloaded the 'cm-11-20140308-SNAPSHOT-M4-endeavoru.zip' file to install the the CM 11.2
But it seems something terribly has gone wrong.
This error message was shown during installing CM 11.2

}
and it got stuck on this screen after rebooting
Later on I tried flashing the 'boot.img' of CM 10.2 to get back to that ROM, but I encountered this error.
But when I tried installing the 'cm-10.2.1-endeavoru.zip', it was a success, but I am still stuck at the same position.
Please help me restoring the phone back, I dont care if I have to revert back to HTC's Original ROM, as long as the phone is back working.
I am novice at this thing, so please bear with me if I ask some stupid questions.

First of all if you want to install CM11 you must to use latest CWM from CM11 thread or TWRP2.7 or Philz latest. And now mount sd card copy your sense rom to the card install it, flash the boot img. and you are good to go. After this read again thread for CM11 and how to install and try agin but be shure you read the thread
use the recovery that thommy put in the first page of the cm11 post (or the philz last recovery) it seems that the cmw that you have doesen't support kitkat

[Q] TWRP Update path for One M8

Hello everyone and have a Merry Christmas,
I'm trying to update my TWRP recovery because I want to go 100% stock. I'm still running TWRP 2.7.0.2. The most recent version of TWRP is 2.8.3.0.
I downloaded the TWRP manager app from the Play store and easily selected the last available version of the recovery to install.
After downloading the .img file, I get a pop up that looks like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The pop up says: "Be sure that the listed path is correct for your device. An uncorrect check may result in bricking your device. You can't flash a recovery directly on Android on some devices. If you can't flash through Android, please choose a different method".
It looks like a "routine" alert, but nonetheless it sounds very alarming. How can I say if the listed path is the correct one for my device (HTC One M8 unbranded GSM international version)?
Thank you for helping.
why update twrp ? twrp is not stock ! and you can also fastboot flash it. oldskool way
Because the procedure to go stock requires some flashing and it was adviced to have the latest version running.
I'm not such an expert, I'm more the type who tries to read as much as possible before trying anything, and upgrading TWRP was a sort of "pre-step".
Also I'm not very keen to use fastboot: I got that it is great, but it is not very straightfoward for beginners.
The tool from the Play store seemed to do the job pretty good and easily.

What if I flash a custom recovery over a custom recovery? Is it possible to simply flash it and overwrite an already existing custom recovery?
there is no other way, the recovery will always overwrite the old one. its impossible to run 2 recoveries

Getting 5.x Lollipop Update on Rooted HTC ON M8 International

Hi all
Apologies if this is answered elsewhere but I cannot find any information on this for the life of me and it's driving me mad.
I have a notification stating that my 5.0 OTA update is ready but I can't install it due to the Custom Recovery on my device.
I followed this guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376) and flashed the 'stock' (not actually Stock - every link it CWM or TWRP) recovery but it didn't work and the update still fails. I think I read somewhere that something is different about this particular update.. that you need to have an 'untouched'/never rooted device?
Plllleeeeeeeeeeeeeease can someone steer me in the right direction so I can get this update sorted?
Thanks in advance.
have you made any system modifications to your current rom?
Also need CID and firmware version number
ALSO needs to be in Q&A (asked the mods to move)
Thanks for that.

ok so you have clean 3.29.401.9 stock rom installed, if not restore the nand available in my thread via TWRP. (may be best to do this as a fresh start)
Next install the 3.28.401.9 stock recovery.img from the first post in my thread.
hoprfully then u should be able to tale OTA automatically

every link is CWM or TWRP are stock Nandroid backup, not recovery.img
Look under Stock Recovery Images for the stock recovery
Thanks for your help, that seems to have done it.
The first time I didn't pay enough attention to my correct Software number (in my case 3.28.401.9). When I matched up my CID (HTC_001) I just picked a random link on that list which is why it didn't work.
Got it going now and back on custom recovery so thanks again for your assistance

The M9 is very finicky about SuperSU. The only two that can be reliably flashed are v2.65 and v2.79 SR1 - it looks like SR2 is what you flashed and why you're having issues.
I recommend uninstalling SuperSU ([EDIT]I'm not sure this is actually possible or necessary, please pardon my confusion[EDIT]) and then downloading & flashing 2.65 or 2.79 SR1. Once you've flashed either (I'd go with 2.79 SR1 personally), you can update the binary via the SuperSU app from within Android. The stickied HTC M9 readme thread's 4th post has links to the SuperSU install files you'll want.

unable to install or launch TWRP

Hey,
I've unlocked my Mi 6 today (i'm using the global developer ROM 8.9.13 (MIUI10)) and wanted to root it, as many guides said I have to replace the default recovery with something like TWRP
result was:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
after leaving it like that for 30 minutes nothing has changed, the screen on my mobile was the the default fastboot screen nothing ever changed
so i tried to just launch TWRP without installing it:
nothing changed like before and i've stopped after 5minutes
i also have the same result with RedWolf Recovery Project:
I also tried using XiaoMiTool but all i got was the message that my phone is not connected to my MiAccount and still locked and did nothing
Does anyone have any idea whats going?
Edit:
seems like flashboot commands dont work? tried flashboot continue to reboot the device after checking with fastboot devices to see if it was recognized by the system and it was indeed.
and the result were the same as above cmd was stuck mobile didnt react....
Thanks
Dugma

I'd rather flash the recovery than just booting to it. You can flash it with fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
You should be able to boot to recovery afterwards. Or at least that's what I did when I bought my phone. I updated to the latest version of MIUI (android 8.0), then I enabled "oem unlock") and I was able to flash twrp with no problems. Keep in mind that the stock rom erases any custom recovery with the default one on boot.
Facing the same issue. Tried everything but no success.
