Restored TWRP backup; no connection for Google apps and others - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I did a TWRP backup before testing out Xposes for 8.1. Decided to restore the backup and now I have connection issues. Chrome won't load pages, gmail won't open email messages (spinning circle), can't add new gmail account as it gets stuck on Checking Info until it finally says "problem communication with google servers". There are also some other random apps that won't connect.
However, some apps like Firefox, Google Play have no issues. I checked the host file and restored it to only show "127.0.0.1 localhost". Also wiped twice and tried the restore again with no luck.
I was going to try to dirty flash the current image over what I have now to see if that would resolve it, but wanted to see if anyone else may have some solutions first.

It appears everything is working normally again after a dirty flash.

Help with Titanium Backup

I have a backup of my Gingerbread version (2.3.3) working fine.
Yesterday, I finally found a Brazilian firmware to my I9000 and tried to test it.
Now, I'm using the Froyo version (2.2.1) downloaded from Kies and I'm having a problem to restore some files.
All my games and apps from Market are restored without any problem.
When I try to restore my contacts I get the message: Google Services Framework (process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped.
The process android.process.acore has stopped.
I have to FC them and it enters in this looping.
I tried to restore only the data (the green ones) without any luck.
I tried all kind of settings in the TB, but without success.
What can I do ?

Thanks, but I already tried it before posting.
This problems seems to be related with Google Account Sync.
I'm not sure that restoring from a newer version to an older one will work.
Personally I never restore system data and settings with TB (except the sms storage), only applications. I believe that it is more safe to do the basic configurations manually than restore it from backup.
I use my Google accounts to store the contacts, they sync without issues.
Restoring system data like that never works well via Titanium.
I would go back into recovery, clear cache and dalvik, then do a factory reset.
Go back to Titanium, restore the apps you wish WITHOUT data. Then sync your gmail to get your contacts back.
Create a google account just for the contacts and calendar, thats what I did...

I tried all these tips but didn't work.
I had to restore only my programs and games from market and imported my contacts from my sim card.
As always happens, I had to edit every contact, because the first name always is in the last name field and even having the option to not show the contacts from sim card, I the same contacts twice in the list and had to del them.
The worst problem was after restoring my programs and games from market. They are working fine, but market can't identify them as a file already downloaded.
I tried to use the Market Doctor option but it didn't work.
I had to download them again from market.I think it happens because I'm not using an English version anymore.
At least after trying a lot, I'm using a Brazilian firmware downloaded from Kies.
No more problem of running a program with Brazilian language, but as the firmware was in English, these programs run in English language too.

Funny behaivour after Nandroid Restore on another phone

My dad and I both have DHDs, he had a problem with his phone so I did a Nandroid backup and restored it on his phone by transferring the files over. This worked well, and I removed my accounts from his phone and restored his SMS, Contacts etc.
Weird thing is, when he installs something - it also installs it on my device even though we are logged on separate Google Accounts. I can no longer install apps from the Play store website because I receive the error, "There are no Android phones associated with this account". I have tried to remove the account and then add it again to my phone but that didn't work. I cleared the Google Play App's data and cache and restarted - that didn't work.
Any other suggestions?
Okay, so I was able to resolve this by:
Removing my Google Account
Clear Google Play app data
Restart phone
Open Google Play and Sign in
Install a GAPP (Youtube, Gmail, Maps etc.) app (or update) - this will force the Play store to recognise the phone through the PC.
I am now able to remotely install apps via my PC.

Check if you have something like Titanium Backup or any other app that might be messing with the accounts. Try doing a wipe cache and dalvik. If the issue persist, then try reflashing a rom (after a full wipe)

I scavenged the web everywhere for a solution to this, and this is the only piece of information that actually solved my problem. Thank you for sharing!
This happens to me sometimes as I flash all kinds of roms, and restore old backups. It seems to have something to do with the device ID not being updated properly after a restore, or something. Anyhow, this does the trick without having to wipe the phone.

Google Play Music - No Sync.

So I've been updating nightly version of JellyBean which means like 10 or more flashes in the last couple of months.
One the latest flash I realized that my Google Play Music app wasn't reading my Google Play Library from google servers. I could browse my library on the phones browser but not from the app.
Things I've done:
App menu>settings>Refresh
Restore data from Titanium Backup.
Use Darkside Cache Wipe
Restart
Uninstall / Reinstall
Settings>apps>Google Play Music > clear data
Restore older backups from Titanium Backup
Gone on line to play.google.com/music/settings and deleted all the different versions of my phone that were listed as devices (apparently each time I flash a ROM Google thinks it is a new device).
None of these things has fixed the problem. When I reinstall or refresh the app I would expect the device to turn up on my play.google.com/music list of devices but it doesn't. the app seems to have lost all contact with google.
I'd like to try to disconnect my account from the device and add it back but I don't know how to do that. I could add another account to my device and then try to switch between them -but currently I only have one account and I can't "unplug it."

Here is what I didn't try: turning Sync on.
When I did that it synced. Go figure. I've never had to go into this setting before but there it was.

I recently rooted my at&t S3 and up until recently I haven't been able to use any google services. I first noticed it with the google play store when I opened the app it would say "No Connection" with a box underneath that said retry. No mater what I do it still persists. I've cleared the cache, attempted to uninstall updates but i would be stuck on the uninstall page indefinitely. I looked in the google accounts I was using and signed out of both of them but when I try to sign back in it tells me it can't establish a connection? I'm looking for a solution that doesn't involve me having to hard reset

Do you have a internet connection (3G-4G)? Are you notification icons gray or blue? (Blue = connected with Google)
Check to make sure you APNs to make sure they all match. You can also try to clear your Play Store's cache/data as well as clear your accounts info.

I have a steady connection. I've tried on wifi along with 4G and still nothing. I haven't been getting any notifications from google. Cleared all account data as well. I think the problem started when I used root app delete to clear up some unused system apps. I didn't disable any apps that that looked harmful but after the problem I enabled them all again.

Well then, chances are that you will have to reset it. Backup your stuff first though.
Apps/data -> Titanium Backup
Copy your personal files on a external SD or on your pc and contacts to your sim if they're not sync'd with your google account.
Playing with system apps is never a good idea (unless you really know what you're doing)
Another option would be to grab pre-rooted stock Odin for your carrier, you will still need to backup though.

I figured I'd end up resetting where do I find a thread on how to backup? I have titanium backup but I have no idea how to recover the files after the factory reset

TiBu will make a folder on your internal SD (named Titanium Backup), just save that folder on your pc or External SD if you're worried about your internal storage getting wiped.
Once your phone is back up, just restore with TiBu *don't restore any system apps*

[Q] How to get Nexus to show in Play Store

So I bought 3 Nexus 7 (2013) for Christmas and was poking around the Play Store on my desktop the other day and noticed the one on my account is not showing up on My Devices.
It's stock, not rooted. I've cleared data for play services, and everything else I've read including uninstalling and reinstalling, force closing and restarting. I've installed apps directly from the Nexus but I want to be able to install from desktop as well.
I don't want to root because my main application for this tablet is Flickster which still is @ssaholic about supporting rooted devices.
Any ideas??
Nobody has an idea how to fix this issue? It's a pain as I'm often on PC would like to just send apps to tablet while I don't have it with me.
Wipe play store data, remove all google accounts, reboot, readd account, go to play store, wait a bit, could take an hour or so to see if it shows up.
If that does not work, and you are sure you tried everything else (adding/readding accounts, wiping cache and data of everything google-related, etc), root your device (yes you will have to root, but once the process is done, you can unroot, or use the xposed module that can hide root from apps, works on flickster too), (I'd also install TWRP and do a nandroid, or if you want to keep stock recovery, you can temporarily boot into twrp and do a nandroid too) install Titanium Backup, go into backups, and backup the app called Settings Storage 4.4.2 (similarly named), that will backup or old ID, then you can go into Settings > Manage Android id > Create New Random Android ID (it will also display your current ID, you might want to jot it down just in case before hitting generate), clear play store cache and data, delete all google accounts, reboot, readd account, goto play store and see if it worked (may take some time before it syncs and shows up though).
Another sure fire way (basically does what the above does, but starts fresh just to make sure) is to make a backup of what you don't want to lose with TB (yes you will have to root, but once the process is done, you can unroot, or use the xposed module that can hide root from apps, works on flickster too), install multirom, flash a new rom to secondary (it will get a new id), login with your google account on that rom, download an app or 2, wait a bit, see if it appears on the devices list in play store. If it does, then restore your data, swap secondary with primary, wipe the old rom, profit..if you use TB to backup restore as suggested it may ask you if you want to restore the old id, say 'ask me later' until you see that everything is working, that way you can always restore the old ID if you MUST, though if everything is accessible (things you purchased are there etc) you will want to eventually select, "keep new id".
