Best stable fully functional Android 7 ROM for SM-T705M LTE? - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone!
I'm new here and completely lost between so much ROMs and informations.
I'm just looking for a fully functional Android 7 for my SM-T705M LTE.
It seems fingerprint scan is impossible to work on unofficial ROMs and since Samsung didn't release an android 7 for Tab S, I will have to forget about that. But if there is a stable Rom that allows me to use the phone and 4G data and also turn my sdcard into internal memory would be great!
I use my tablet mostly to surf the internet, watch movies and pilot my DJI drone.
Could someone please point me to the best room for my needs?
Thanks a lot!

It seems no one knows it or doesnt bother answering.
I really expected a more friendly comunity out here!
If there is no Android 7 capable of mobile data and foice on T705, just please let me know.

Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 Google Play Edition

This tablet line has really sparked my interest but there are almost no roms (only cm11 that I see) and I'd like a nexus experience with physical buttons.
How long before we get some news on the GPE tab pro? Seems like that is what's holding back rom development for this line, correct?

I would say that what is holding back ROM development is a complete lack of developers...
With my CM11 device tree repos, it should be relatively straight-forward for someone to build other source based ROMs. But, none have appeared.
Then there is the world of ROMs that are based on the stock ROM. We don't have anyone that has stepped up and made the standard debloated ROM. Sadly, that means that there probably aren't any people that know how to do that either.
That said, the hardware is great and I get to piggy-back on a lot of the work that Cyanogen does for the Note 3 which makes some of the hardware support very advanced. FWIW, I'm quite happy with my purchase.
As much as I love my 8.4, A black 32GB Google Play edition would pretty much require me to buy another :good:

Agreed. I really wish I had the equipment and know-how to use your kernel and device tree and build SlimKat (my ROM of choice). Hopefully more folks will buy this tablet as time goes by, and we'll get some more talent in here. I did have a pm conversation with someone from the Slim team who expressed a little interest in the device, so fingers crossed.

Any chance your work will be submitted to be an officially supported Cyanogenmod device?
Or is it too much work to be a maintainer for a device.
Thank you so much for your work already.

My goal is to make it official when I have everything working. But, I have to finish it first... I already maintain one device so adding a second wouldn't be that big a deal.
I just couldn't hold out any long. Picked up the black on yesterday and WOW this screen is amazing. I'll be running CM11 from your thread by lunch, and will help to provide feedback over there. thanks!!
I was wondering why any root/rom discussion seems to only be focused on the 8.4; are there reasons the 10.1 isn't included (I realize less people seem to be getting the bigger tab). Looking to love my 10.1, as the 8.4 is too small for my reading needs. Thanks for any info!

Two reasons. One, I have a tab pro 8.4... Two, the 8.4 is based on the snapdragon 800 (msm8974) processor which is very well supported on other devices. The 10.1 is an Exynos processor which is not well supported by source built android roms.

Thanks for the quick and helpful reply. Pretty new to Android world, but I loved switching from my iPhone 5 to the Nexus 5 so much, and how easy it was to root, and add Franco and Gravity Box, that I jumped on the 10.1 to replace my iPad Air. Knew Nexus' were known for being easy to root, but didn't know about Samsung's Knox Warranty Killer! But still mostly pleased, and as I despise Apple's $200 for 64gb(- os) policy, love being able to carry around 3000 books, several movies, and 30gb of flac music.
Hopefully it will be safe to root soon.

[Q] Anyone Heard of any Developers?

has anyone heard of any developers that have shown interest in creating Rom's for this tab? I am very interested from the spec point of view in the 8.4, but I do not like the sense UI and would want a speedy rom for it, but it does not look like much is happening on here. I know this is a new tab, but that is a sticking point for me before buying. If not this then I think I will wait for the galaxy tab 8 (rumored), the specs on it look great as well and it will have good support from google updating the base software so I think it will have a good development forum. Any thoughts?

We just got recovery so something should happen soon if at all. Crpalmer has Cyanogenmod 11 working on this tab. It is an expensive tablet so it will not get much interest due to the price.

It is a darn great tablet spec wise though, it looks like it could handle anything you threw at it. I am really salivating over it, I wish I was a better coder to be able to create some roms myself.
With crpalmer's CM 11, anyone wanting to develop their own AOSP ROM, or port another, should have a relatively easy time of it, since kernel is already built.

Custom Rom Xiaomi Redmi 1s?

exist or are planned, custom rom for this smartphone? miui is great but stock Android is very very optimized
Cyanogen?
OmniRom?
thx
So i'm not the only one who are searching a MIUI alternative.
I've made a search on the web but nothing for the moment.
Same here, found, that MIUI isn't my cup of coffee...
So we will see...

The problem is the MIUI community.
They're sweet but... we can't talk about anything else except MIUI so it will be good if we can regroup a few users here to maybe interest some devs.
PS : I'm sorry for my poor english.
Also interested in this, I have got no developing experience, but I am willing to beta test, who knows maybe one day ill teach myself and cook a rom for it.

Same. But if I can do anything to help I'll do my best.
As far as I have been able to find out, no sources are out = no AOSP roms for us, unless we write everything from scratch
MIUI Developers never release sources code = No custom rom, that's reason why we don't have MIUI custom on XDA.
-XDA has most skilled developers.
-If you take closer look MIUI it combines all Samsung IOS HTC and some custom Mods from XDA developers into one without permissions. It's Chinese Way, i have no comment on this.
Really exist one Cyanogenmod on Xiaomi Mi2/Mi2S... http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=16834&highlight=cyanogenmod
But in Redmi 1S right now nothing of nothing ...
facepalm for me... Miui sucks everywhere....
We just need to wait a bit...
And I guess this Cyanogen can't be used on 1S because of Qualcomm processor...
Can u guys help?
IMO, Xiaomi has pretty good hardware packed inside, but this same happened when i thought of buying Mi 3.
But i have 1 question though. I am planning to by REDMI 1S for my dad, can u help me to choose or reject this phone?
PS - He's a total novice when it comes to smartphones. request you to give your opinion accordingly.
Hi,
The MIUI interface is really easy to use.
The only negative point is the 4G unsupported in the Redmi 1S.
So I guess you can buy it, it's a really good product for the price.
Someone is working on CM11 for our Redmi 1s!!!

I hope it will be out soon :cyclops:

Hi guys, i wanna ask. I'm planning to buy this phone in near months when it launches in my country. However, despite all the great stuff found on this phone - like its processor, GPU, sharp display, amazing cameras, etc - there are many complaints about its battery life and gaming performance - with games like Asphalt 8 running laggy in full graphics. I know that the custom ROM of stock Android for this phone hasn't come out yet until new given that it's a new phone, but i wanna know is there any way to improve its battery life and gaming performance.
I heard that MIUI of this phone consumes a lot of RAM and only leaves around 200MB of RAM. Does this phone allow users to deactivate the pre-loaded apps in order to free some RAM, thus making its battery last longer and performance much faster especially for gaming?
Please, answer my question guys. I'm in desperate for answers here because Xiaomi is about to launch its phones in my country soon and i don't want to be left behind in purchasing this phone given Xiaomi's flash sales.

Thanks for your reply dude. Hopefully, when this phone receives the MIUI 6, it will improve its performance and battery life. This phone is about to arrive in the next few weeks in my country soon. Hopefully, i manage to buy it because the price of this phone at other retailers is just insane!!

Yes, i know that. But i heard that even moto e or moto g can last about 6 hours for intensive gaming without resting the screen. So i think xiaomi should be similar in term of battery life wite moto phones given their similar specs.

[REQ] Nexus 6P port to mate 7 ???

Hello everyone,
I think what i want to see for my huawei ascend mate 7 dual sim 32Gb is a pure marshmallow rom !
Before my huawei i had a nexus 4 .. It was amazing the number of roms and cuztomizations that we had on that device. But not on the huawei.
Cyanogenmod, MIUI and AOKP either doesnt support the mate 7 or they are poorly ported and unusable !
I hope a team would work on making a nexus 6P port available and working on our mate 7 !
Thank you

Well sorry to say that but this phone has a very weak modding and developing scene, I guess we won't see something like that..
Let's just hope that Huawei makes a decent Marshmallow rom for early 2016 :/
But I think this phone is nice even on Kitkat, I still don't see any reason to update to L, so if you have anything that you dislike try to fix it with root/xposed and all that kind of stuff
before driving yourself crazy while waiting for a AOSP rom

I just would like to see this nice phone running a pure android rom .. The last lollipop rom (B324) is way more better than kitkat .. Way smoother, more stable and the battery life increased (deep sleep just got better).
I put my device on normal power plan (no battery saving) .. i only protect chatting apps to run while the screen is off .. the result is a nice performance/smoothness with an increased battery life. (the smart power plan is not really smart) "i just wanted to share this"
Back to the thread, like i said before, i think this device would even run better on pure android .. way better ! my phone is rooted, i use google now launcher, i wish i can chance the notification bar to the lollipop notificatio bar, becuz i hate to swipe left and right to alter between the notifications and the shortcuts.
I hate everything customized by huawei except the camera app
thanks
yeah I unterstand what you mean..
but if you have not noticed yet: if you pull notification bar on the left you will get to the notification panel, and if you swipe down on the right you get the shortcuts. If you prefer to use your phone one handed then you won't really benefit from that, but if you use your phone with 2 hands like I do most of the time it will be useful.

haha it s not just about that .. the official notification bar is 100% better .. smoother and more appealing .. also i really wish i can have a light pure android experience on the mate 7 it s shameful that such good device didnt get a better xda treat
thanks
We will never see a pure ROM porting (no chinese roms, no porting from other phones like the honor 6 with KitKat) for this phone unless huawei releases important source files. I also opened a thread on xda with a petition http://forum.xda-developers.com/mat...pdate-ascend-mate-7-stock-derivative-t3241661 but we are only a few.
I suggest you come back to nexus because with Huawei we can't do anything.

S4 Mini: where to (re-)start after CyanogenMod 11

I just totalled my S4 Mini (i9195). The phone is alive but the LCD is totally smashed.
Been running CyanogenMod 11 for a couple of years. Once the ROM got stable I've been really happy with the hardware and software.
My question is what to do now.
Fix the phone and just carry on with CyanogenMod 11
Fix the phone and upgrade the ROM -- what's everyone using for day-to-day use; is it LineageOS? I like CyanogenMod 11 because it's not tied to Google, PrivacyGuard and LED notifications, otherwise fairly minimal. I don't want really want to go back to the unstability I remember of the early CyanogenMod 11 milestones.
Upgrade the phone to a new one. I'm not sure one is suitable; my main criteria are small size and switchable battery, custom ROM.
I'm fairly technical but new to posting on XDA. Hoping you can help me past some of the jargon and codenames. What are people using their S4 Mini day to day (not experimenting) doing?
Thanks -- Mark

If you are going to keep your phone it sounds like CM13 would be best for you as it is very stable and you will get much newer security patches (though it looks like Arco will not be updating it any further for now). It has Privacy Guard and you can flash a smaller Open GApps package to keep Google to a minimum .....
LinageOS is already very stable but there are a few small bugs (maybe a big one with the dialer as some people have reported in last few days having no audio on calls) as you would expect on a "TEST" ROM, but some are using for daily driver with no real problems. Maybe give it a look once it's gone "official".
It's almost impossible to get a new phone with good spec and small size now especially one that has such a great custom ROM's available.

I just came across the S5 Mini.. Seems like it might be the last phone that fulfill my hardware requirements and it won't cost me much more to upgrade than to repair my current phone. Did all the S4 Mini crowd move to the S5 Mini or is there good reason to stick with the old? For example, worse support for the hardware.
Thanks for the ROM tips, I will definitely try version 13 once I have a working phone just to see. If I really don't like it I can always consider going back to 11.

Yes, S5 Mini will probably be a good choice, though not as much development by the looks of it, but we S4 Mini owners have been spoilt. Don't think that many people upgraded to it, but I don't really know.

Yup I think I have, and until now took it for granted that most of the phones were reverse engineered to the same level.
I made a decision and ordered the parts to repair my S4 Mini, that will be my day-to-day phone. When I get it I might spin up CM13 for a test. As for a 'new' phone that will have to wait. Thanks for the advice.

Take the Lineage OS 14.1 build from arco68. and TWRP 3.03 from neozone75 Much more performance, longer battery life, and my s4 mini boots packed with a lot apps in under 1min. when flashed, don't miss to set the preferrred network type in Mobile radio networks- if you have no LTE contract set it to 3G . good luck for repair
